Hi guys, anyone travelling to DE this week from Lagos? |

Travel › Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 7 by MarkGud(m): 8:41pm On Oct 13, 2019 |
Hello Guys, trust our plans are progressing as anticipated. 2 weeks now in DE, kinda got busy with enrol and various registration. Life over here have been different i must say; culture shocks here and there and everyone minds his/her business.
I was recently at a programme in Dresden by Intap tagged #International talents wanted and i must say there are opportunities in DE most esp. for Software developers/engineering/ICT as most companies representative spoke on these set skills. Germans take time keeping seriously as I missed a train just a min late first day i arrived. Studying here is flexible atleast say in my Uni as one can decide to take more or less than the expected modules, make sure you distinguish which modules are core, update, elective etc and certain credit points must be completed in each of them before u can graduate. As soon as you arrive make u enrol or Deutsch A1 classes as there is a deadline to it as one can easily miss it amidst the struggles to do some other registrations e.g city reg, house contract etc and take this class seriously as the lang is as important as the degree you pursuing(if possible learn up to B1 in Naija before arriving DE). Ahead of lecture resumptions get your time table, seek clarifications wella oo cos here in DE, lecture weeks are divided into Odd and even week, take classes serious and pray all fall into plan. Dont be carried away with making too many friends most esp if they dont share your dreams and aspirations, plan well and dont be in a hurry to announce yourself thereby sacrificing your whole struggle for the smaller glory. I hope things work out well for everyone and be a good ambassador in DE(una know how our story be already for abroad). I pray more of us arrive DE because the number Indians, Egyptians, Cameroonians, Mozambiques wey i dey see here for my side make me ask how do they do it. And fortunately for them, they graduate and get good jobs and you know what that means back home for them. One day one day timid cub will become a roaring lion, let's keep pushing.
I hope my little piece is useful to someone. I will keep updating from time to time. |

Hi guys, trust we all are fine. Below are the interview questions asked yesterday 18/09/2019. As soon as I saw Mr Paulinus, I knew he was the one. Very disciplined man and an advocate of do as I say. Stick to document arranging pattern already mentioned here and you will be fine. Atimes we are our own architect of problems, met a fellow that morning that had her CV being typed that morning, she doesn't even know she need a motivation letter until she was told by the cafe guy. I showed her from my sample and I hope she didn't copy word to word. I wonder how much those hustlers must have made from her. Small advise to those awaiting interview, read others experience and make straight your plans ahead of time. Now to the questions asked; Course? School? What do u know abt Germany? Bsc Thesis? I know to write out cos she had tough time with my terminologies. Plans after study? Why not English speaking country? Why this course? Why not in Nigeria? Told her abt little or no funding in Materials Science and how no Nigerian university currently does not have one of the latest instruments needed in Material research. I think VO agreed with me and nodded her head in pity. Moreover, she is a Nigerian I think so she feels the pain. In all she didn't allow me talk much, she kept cutting me in between. I even tire sef and was unhappy..I was like madam allow me talk na in my mind oo. She repeatedly announced..fund oo, why didn't u fund before coming...fund ooo, u guys will come for interview without funding..when will u fund? She was particular abt funding. If u have the fund pls fund before going for interview. I asked her what's the exact state on the increment on the block account. She referred me to the document I signed, she said go and read it. That's it my people. Godspeed to us all. |

DeutschMariano: TRANSCRIPT ALERT! So had my interview on the 10th (yesterday). Lodged at sappers Lodge inside bony cantonment, very nice, spacious and comfortable room. With a lounge by a mini beach too, somewhere to cool your head before your interview the next day I had to set 2 alarms each on two of my phones, before my village people use me shine . By around 11pm, I remember say I no get WAEC scratch card.. Nsogbu! I quickly go online go buy am. I woke up by 4am, left the lodge by 5am, got to the embassy by 5:15. I went to print the scratch card I bought. Those guys for embassy use me shine. Collect 1k for my hand just to print on page document. Anyway, I see am as price wey I gats pay for my carelessness. Please triple check your documents to see if they're complete before the day of your interview o, unless you wan dash those guys money. I was the first at the embassy. Our appointment letters were stamped and signed on. Oga Paulinus came by few minutes past 6. I been no know say na him be the almighty oga Paulinus o.. Na the guy for my back tell me He started attending to us by 6:45. Attended to Schengen people first, before long term. He called the first 3 people, asked us to remove our documents and keep them on the chair. The 3rd was wasting time na so oga Paulinus change am for him o, tell my guy make e go for back of line. For my mind, this man na me and you today . He collected our passport, put the appointment letter inside, placed it on a desk, then took the 2 application forms and placed them side by side. Then he started calling other documents one after the other, 1 original and 2 photocopies. We were done within 5 minutes, na so oga Paulinus begin commend us o That we were the fastest since he started working there. For our 3 mind we dey feel like James bond Paulinus doesn't really have a problem, contrary to what I've been reading about him here, he's just too disciplined and expects your to be fast and smart. Do exactly what he asked you to do and do it fast enough and you won't have problems with him. We were checked in and got to the visa section. I was interviewed by the fair lady in room 2. She was friendly. She asked for my passport and application form.
VO: where and what are you going for? Me: Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Bachelors in information engineering VO: Bachelors? And you booked category A? Me: I have a bachelors certificate. VO: What did you study? Me: Electronic and Computer Engineering VO: it's not related to what you're going for now? Me: It is VO: So why are you going for it? Me: answer VO: Give me your application fee VO: have to funded? Me: yes I have. VO: which bank?
She captured my finger prints, then asked me to pick up the phone.
VO: why this course? VO: why Germany? VO: why not US or UK? VO: what do you know about Germany? I use this one shine small I dey talk she just dey type dey nod her head.
VO: plans after your studies? VO: that'll be all.
All in all, it went well. Just be yourself. As for oga Paulinus, forget everything you've heard about him here, just be on your best behaviour that day.
The wait for AM begins!
It'll all end in praise!! Congrats man. AM is yours already. |
