No need to spend billions on irrelevant processes. The biggest and stable democracies do not waste such a humungous amount on direct primaries that would end up creating confusion with fictitious results like that of Anambra APC.

Here are some reasons to jettison the idea of direct primaries:
i. It is based on an open ballot system. If the open ballot is acceptable at party primaries, why is it not acceptable in the election proper?

ii. Cost would be prohibitive and the process would be cumbersome. There are 774 LGAs, so for every LGA election, the electoral bodies at the state level would first conduct primaries for all political parties at the council and chairmanship level. Then INEC will conduct primaries for all state assembly candidates for all parties at state level, then conduct for NASS for all parties and governorship for all parties. This is absolute nonsense.

iii, Duplication of efforts, as parties primaries would amount to INEC conducting elections before elections.

iv. Resources needed would be too much to make any meaning. INEC does not have such resources

v. All political parties would now need to amend their constitutions to reflect the requirements of the electoral act, which is nonsense. Political parties are private "vehicles' for seeking political offices, if the electoral laws do not govern how their structures and organs are constituted, why govern how they pick their candidates?

vi. Multiplicity of membership, how do INEC and the parties control list of membership? Meaning a political party could influence candidates for the opposing party by proxy membership. That is one person could hold both APC as well as PDP membership. All a smart politician would do is to create proxy membership of the opposition and use his proxies to vote for a weak person in the opposition.

Please, Mr. President should ask NASS to delete the direct primaries insertion and sign a sustainable electoral law. The direct primaries' insertion is myopic and self-serving!

What is Mr. Tinubu relying on to think he can win the presidency? South western Nigeria with 6 states is in the bank for Tinubu, and I get that part. The part I don't get is where can he buy other 18 states in Nigeria? South/South states are not going for Tinubu. Northern Nigeria has 19 states and those are not going into Tinubu pocket. PDP has track record of winning big in the northern Nigeria.

Although it is too early to start predicting 2023 presidential election results in Nigeria, but I can say with near certainty that Bola Tinubu will not be president of Nigeria. He is corrupt and has history of failed leadership. I will talk about Tinubu record when the election is near.

Even your great grandfather in their grave put together didn't have 2% of Asiwaju good record, that's mean you're not relevant

His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu returned to the country, landing in Lagos Friday evening, October 8. He arrived from London, United Kingdom.
During his trip abroad, he underwent surgery on his right knee as well as rigorous post-surgery physiotherapy on the said knee.
Contrary to unfounded rumour, he underwent no other surgical procedures and contemplates none in the future.

His recuperation has been without complication and ahead of the schedule by the attending surgeon.

He has returned fully healed from the knee surgery and fully committed to doing his modest part of advancing the cause of progressive democratic good governance throughout our beloved nation.
Asiwaju, first and foremost, would like to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for taking the time to visit him in London to express his wishes for a speedy recovery from the knee operation.

He thanks House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, governors, party leaders, members of Northern Caucus of the House of Representatives, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly and indeed many others who called on him in London to wish him well.

He is also not forgetting others who would have loved to visit him but couldn't make it and his numerous friends, associates, supporters and well wishers who have been with him in prayers and supplications to Allah.
