I never said Rpg, read my earlier post. Rpgs have only been known to shoot down low flying choppers by luck.
What they probably shot it down with(assuming it was shot down and not malfunction or pilot error), will most likely be AA fire. Those big guns you see gun trucks are mostly anti aircraft weapons.
The other way could be through manpads. This though is highly unlikely cos they are heavily monitored.

I get it..
I think this accident is tilting to malfunction

They've been shooting down military jets since the days of GEJ and Yaradua. Why do you think PMB recently ordered for tucano jets? Infact when Buhari became president the airforce had no jet. The president had to give them some of the president's jets

Dude shut your mouth.
What type of stupid lie is this

Oga he's correct..
In no scenario will an rpg hit a Jet even an anti aircraft gun is even difficult unless the pilot makes it easy

I was wondering how a missile could bring down a fighter jet. Is it that the fighter jet doesn't have defense mechanism to alert the pilot of incoming missiles? What kind of jet do we have in sky self

Why do you guys keep mentioning missle

Why are you people saying they were flying so low?

They were not. Missiles are locked on its target when fired into the air. That pic you saw was take off pic.

Which missles are you talking about..
Oga it was an rpg that shot it down and in reality it should have never happened

Nigeria is the second largest owner of ucav in Africa or West Africa one of those..
Well the point I was trying to make is this the military has enough ucav..
With the wing long coming is getting stronger

Hmm, are you sure you are knowledgeable about military aircrafts?
Anyway. Google "su25 frogfoot" to be better informed.

Tukanos are turbo props ie propeller aircrafts invariably slower. The Nigeria airforce alfajet shot down was a turbo jet powered trainer or light attack platform, hence faster than the tukano.
Imagine they shot down a jet aircraft, what then will be the fate of a propeller plane?

I don't think you understand the situation on ground...
In no scenario is it possible for an rpg hit an alpha on high speed..
What I can see happening here is incompetence on the pilot side or malfunction of the jet to come as low for an rpg to hit..
What is your definition of low..
A tucano is slow does not mean is a sit duck for an rpg

The tukanos are slower ohh.
Hope it wount be target practice sha.
Some of us spoke of su25s frogfoots from Russia considering the aircraft to be armored and better suited for ground attack.
There is nothing wrong in using unguided missiles. The US etc all use them. They are cheaper and you can saturate a wider area with fire. On the other hand guided missiles are way way expensive. 1 missile eg helfire could cost over $50k. They are mainly used for priority targets, eg tanks, moving targets or buildings ie precision strikes.

The Tucanos you called slower is designed for coin war..
Su is designed for air combat not ground attack

What baffles me is that, at this time and age, with all the resources we have, Nigeria can't even boast of one or at least two active surveillance and assault drone(s), that ought to be patrolling the region at least 10hrs daily, in a campaign like this drones are the best option, target, aim and destroy, undetected. It just goes to show that there are elements within the system, feeding fat from this mess.

You really are highly misinformed

How can you be using an outdated jet fighter used during the Golf war in 2012 You are just endangering the lives of the pilots na, haba.

I remember the day they launched those old, outdated jets, I condemned it but some overzealous APC and Buhari supporters shut us up saying Goodluck did not buy any, but look at how they just wasted those young pilots.

They need ultrasonic jets with high altitude, that can use advanced radar to scan enemy position from very high altitude without flying too low that ordinary gun can bring down.

If they use latest jet fighters, them no born ragtag Boko Haram well because only a guided anti aircraft missile can bring it down.

Shame on Nigerian Air Force and entire Defense Team. Ragtag Boko Haram have ridiculed and exposed their high incompetence

You want to. Buy supersonic jet for coin war..

Na wa, the techno aircraft that Nigeria just bought from the USA and are being trained by the same USA to use are no longer being used by the same USA.
Why can’t we buy modern aircraft for god sake, there are new 5th generation aircraft we can buy and train our air force to use. In today’s war, without modern AirPower, you are just wasting the lives of your men.
Am sure when the USA were training them to use the techno aircraft, they would just be laughing at them. If the USA don’t sell you modern fighter jets, then try Russia or east Europe. Must we buy from USA?

Dude please do research before you start saying things that aren't true..
For your information nobody uses fighter jets for coin war..
