Its a very sad development that Bruce was disqualified on the basis of his dual citizenship. What has dual citizenship to do with becoming a governor or president. The law does not forbid anyone with a dual citizen status from contesting elections and on this I'm disappointed in GEJ
Politics / Re: Customs Recovers The Auctioned NIPP Equipment by marvix(m): 2:52pm On Nov 03, 2011
This is not a big deal, power contractors have been complaining since but no one was listening, this is what happens when due process is followed and the right authority exercised, they would have gone all out to ensure that the containers were recovered just to save face, where we need to be vigilant is where they are paying back the people who bought those equipments in d 1st place, we must ensure that the exact amount the customs received for auctioning them is what is paid out now, some buyers may have paid 1m to customs and 1m to the customs official, now is where we should be vigilant and secrets will come out cos some people are either abt 2 vomit monies already spent or lose monies used in bribing to buy d equipments d min of finance and d CBN bis supposed to be ontop of this with NASS ensuring that they follow this through!!!

Politics / Re: Six New States For A New Nigeria by marvix(m): 8:50am On Oct 30, 2011
This would make sense if we can push this through, maybe we jettison the idea of a SNC and call for a constitutional conference of stakeholders which would include youths from online foras to discuss modalities for this new state and system
Business / Re: Why Nigeria May Remain Underdeveloped - Sanusi by marvix(m): 8:45am On Oct 30, 2011
Drummaboy ur suggestion makes sense, if we divide ther country in 6regions and all d LGs stand and States disappear and then additional states are allowed to emerge after LGs agree unanimously to combine for development purposes. This would indeed become the rebirth of the nation, but I fear this is very impossible cos those benefitting from d present structure and others hoping to benefit frm d present structure won't let it work
Business / Re: Why Nigeria May Remain Underdeveloped - Sanusi by marvix(m): 8:42am On Oct 30, 2011
@asha at their standing today what do u think the northern states can do with their agricultural and mineral deposits, what does it contribute to their total revenue as at today. That is the challenge they are having, so we can go back to having 6 regions and the regions will receive allocations as states are receiving now and decide how many states they want while the FG will prescribe a minimum standard for the states to be formed and no extra revenue is given to regions with higher state but more allowance for them to boost IGR.
Asha its not really a question of where is better off for me its more of Sanusi saying the truth and pushing for a change to the status quo that would affect his geopolitical zone badly as they are the ones benefitting from this arrangement with Kano having 40LGs compared 2 Lagos with 20LGs
Business / Re: Why Nigeria May Remain Underdeveloped - Sanusi by marvix(m): 8:13am On Oct 30, 2011
Hercules and Ekt let's discuss d issues leave d personalties politics is a deep game and takes strong conviction and courage to say d truth as it is.

SLS said some states spend 97% of their revenue paying civil servants d FG uses 70% these are serious issues he is suggesting we reduce number of states which would affect more nothern states than southern cos there would be more viable states in d south than in the north for sure. SLS is asking for consolidation of states we could possibly revert to regional style of govts if we take his idea serious.

Now compare him to El Rufai who never said anything while serving as minister and suddenly found his tongue after been displaced from office. I kno SLS has more to say but wld rather bid his time but one thing is for sure he can not be cowed and would gladly resign if pushed or pressured to do something he does not agree will b in d best interest of Nigeria, a govt official to take over a sitting presidents bank is no mean task, challenge and dare members in the NASS is no coward, he shld be prepped for presidency either in 2015 or 2019!
Business / Re: Why Nigeria May Remain Underdeveloped - Sanusi by marvix(m): 7:45am On Oct 30, 2011
Ekt bear u hit d nail on d head, but u must realise this is a first for Nigeria. A top govt official telling us the truth while in office. Compare him and El Rufai who while in office saw nothing wrong with the way funds were allocated and utilized and had no qualms with removal of fuel subsidy but does today.

We need more of Sanusi willing to tell us the truth at all times.

Now he raised a point that Nigerian students spend 155b on education in Ghana, this is a symptom of a fundamental flaw, the other day there were arguements abt d increase in sch fees of LASU we need to ask ourselves what can be done to bring at least 70% of that amount back to Nigeria.

I would say govt improve the standard of education increase the fees and allow the people who can pay pay and set up grants and loan facilities for the indigent and underpriviledged, let the rich ones have their way and let the poor ones find their level.

Renewnaija let's look @ ur parallels, is his cabinet diff from others I dare 2 say yes cos I will ask u were is Abba Ruma, Mansur Muktar and those who held sway wen Yaradua was president? There is a new clique of kitchen cabinet and includes names like Iweala,Aganga and Diezani and this people can be different if given the chance and like I said its a gamble we have to take or we can simply ask the more corrupt NASS to begin impeachment proceeding of the man we actually voted for.

I don't kno if u are here in Nigeria or not but do ur research properly no minister 2day has more than 2 aides that the FG is responsible for, Jonathan called his ministers and nearly sacked some wen it came to his knowledge that some of them had up to 10 aides, Yaradua had reduced the allowances and salary of himself and aides in the executive wen he was alive, we don't need to make our leaders paupers b4 d country gets better.

Did u listen to Diezani @ all she said no one can actually state when d subsidy removal will start but every stakeholder is been consulted including Labour, it simply means if Labour remains adamant the subsidy will remain, I kno dat subsidy is not sustainable and if we kip insisting on subsidy one day we will find out that d total budget has been used 2 provide subsidy for petroleum products.

Are u in any way saying we can't have inflation even if d subsidy is retained?
Business / Re: Failure To Remove Fuel Subsidy Will Lead To Economy Collapse – GEJ by marvix(m): 9:50pm On Oct 27, 2011
@renewnaija trusting this govt is a gamble we have to take. We won't say that because some who went to school are jobless we won't go to school and I feel its very unfair to say that this govt is same as previous govts of this country. Let's take a closer look all past govts that promised were military and semi militaery govt and those govts were not popular govts, Ibb did not win an election and never listened or responded to our cries, Abacha was a despot no need to explain that, Abdulsalam despite been a military leader was a malevolent one who promised us a democratic govt and wen d time was right he gave us, then Obj who was a civilian president but does not even listen to his advisers did not rely on our support to win elections, Yaradua who wanted our support but we did not give him but he was a democratic president with d interst of nigeria at heart, then GEJ who bcame president because we protested who declared his intention to us on facebook before informing his ministers and his political party, the president who posts on facebook and we can insult and tell him to his face that he has failed and if we protest on social media its enuf 2 get him to reverse his proposal. I want to believe in dis govt cos we don't have anoda govt and I would not ask that we keep making d cabal stronger just to stop the president from eating cos head or tail a president who is interested in looting does not need to remove subsidy!!!
Business / Re: Failure To Remove Fuel Subsidy Will Lead To Economy Collapse – GEJ by marvix(m): 9:06pm On Oct 27, 2011
@renewnaija what I was saying is dat if simon kolawoles post is anything to go by Goodluck cld be getting as much as N5per litre per day of d subsidy and yet he is kicking against the same subsidy, now if there are people who have been makin 50kper litre per day within d NNPC and Min of Finance and cabals in d importation racket making btw N2/l/d and N5/l/d in d past 3yrs 4 doing nothing do u have any idea how powerful they wld hav become as a grp, what will it cost them to pay each member in dat house N45m to ensure that subsidy is not removed what will it cost them 2 sponsor activists who think they are fighting for the masses interests, Nigerians shld pls open their eyes and ears and tread with caution!!!
Politics / Re: Tinubu Refuses To Enter Dock At CCT Tribunal In Abuja by marvix(m): 10:05am On Oct 27, 2011
Pro1 u hav answered ur question b4 asking, if we engage Tinubu on looting offences in lagos tell us what court will be able to convict him? Now the "Almighty Federal Govt" has decided to use d smallest offence 2 get him off the scene any idea wat the punishment will be if he is convicted? This will largely reduce his influence and just like HIV after d first blow other agencies and crimes will now come for him with little or no influence and the courage that he has been sentenced until he is rubbished and his party is rendered useless since the party revolves around him.

I stand by and watch cos I live in very interesting times, the rule of law will definitely have its way Justice will be done and be seen to be done, they have details of accounts he operated while he was a gov, just look at the video of the court session and u cld see d prosecution just tryin to be calm and wait for the real trial to begin and d statement of the trying judge shows that they already know where they are going. Nigerians will be surprised at the end of this encounter, and trust Tinubu he is already preparing his appeal and his good friend Salami is still on suspension and Musdapher would need a scape goat to show that he is serious abt judicial reforms tell me what bigger scape goat can he ask for
Politics / Re: Tinubu Refuses To Enter Dock At CCT Tribunal In Abuja by marvix(m): 2:55am On Oct 27, 2011
I believe that when the code of conduct tribunal is involved u can be tried at Abuja or Lagos. The case of Daniels and co is one been tried by EFCC and its not a CCT case. Even at that Daniels and co are expected to answer to some charges in Abuja high court.
Politics / Re: Tinubu Refuses To Enter Dock At CCT Tribunal In Abuja by marvix(m): 9:22pm On Oct 26, 2011
This to me is the problem of "Rule of Law". He is accused of having foreign accounts and his lawyer was asking if he has only been accused he should not be put in the dock what does that have to do with the issue, then the Tribunal chief ruled in his favour and he was allowed to sit with his friiends, then the next question his lawyers are asking is if the court can try him and jurisdiction and bla bla bla, and I ask myself cant we just go straight to the issue, as gov of Lagos state did u operate foreign accounts.

The law is an ass I must confess, even an armed robber can manipulate the process.

Critically assessing this democracy of ours you would see that lawyers have benefitted most from this era, and govt wastes a lot of money trying to recover money stolen, pray tell me where do these ex govs actually get money to hire these SANs and keep them postponing court cases and keep running it.

What is the punishment that awaits this man if found guilty? I can bet that it may not be worth all the trouble!
Business / Re: Failure To Remove Fuel Subsidy Will Lead To Economy Collapse – GEJ by marvix(m): 8:50pm On Oct 26, 2011
Did anyone read X-Factorial post.

If the subsidy is working well and been used to serve the purpose of patronage why then does Jonathan want it off?

If jonathan can skim of N5 perlitre on the subsidy why would he want to do away with wath allows him to pocket N200m daily as his cut in fuel subsidy. This is scam that can not and will not be traced to him.

Nigerians we need to open our eyes wide before calling for a revolution and collapse of this democracy, ask yourselves what happened to Buhari in 1985, he worked hard to rescue the nation and took drastic actions which included jailing politicians but when he was removed and Nigerians celebrated the arrival of IBB who released all political prisoners and politicians we saw where he landed us.

We must be careful of our planned revolution cos many more are eyening that N5 perlitre per day subsidy allowance.
Business / Re: Failure To Remove Fuel Subsidy Will Lead To Economy Collapse – GEJ by marvix(m): 2:30pm On Oct 26, 2011
Everyone is clamouring for the retention of fuel subsidy but can anyone actually tell us what the price of fuel is today without subsidy? How much is the govt contributing as subsidy? What is the actual cost of landing petrol per litre in Nigeria?
I have seen that a lot of people are still complaining about high cost of government and alluding it to the number of PAs to the ministers and so on and I ask myself, were this people not aware that GEJ has given a strong warning and his ministers have complied that all ministers should have only 2 assistants on the FG payroll unlike what it was before, are we not aware that Yaradua had already slashed the allowances of his staff and himself of which GEJ is still using and the NASS are the ones that are yet to do same and there is independence in the 3 different arms of government.
I personally don’t believe that ordinary Nigerians are benefitting from this subsidy, I am aware that as at 2005 the cost of landing fuel in Nigeria was N20 per litre and a recent report in 2009 showed that the price of delivering fuel to the fuel stations in Nigeria is about N54 and some kobos.
A lot of us suspect this govt and don’t believe in their ability to judiciously utilize the savings from the subsidy removal, to me that is a gamble we have to take, Nigeria is for all of us and if Nigeria fails under Jonathans watch it is a disaster he would have to bear all his life and we are not considering that his name is worth more than the billions he stands to make.
For those asking those of us who voted GEJ to suck it up here is my own personal message to you, I have no regrets in voting GEJ and I believe he is on course, thanks for the advise but we await 2015 for proper assessment of how he fared but I have no regrets for voting and campaigning for him.

Bojar if he was a layman he won't have the info that is available to him as minister and hence is decision. Everyman will always speak with the level of info available to him the level of info available to the average nigerian on subsidy is what activists are saying. Let us all study f subsidy removal and its implications.
Business / Re: The Betraying Stance Of The Minister For Information On Fuel Subsidy Removal by marvix(m): 12:23am On Oct 22, 2011
Why are wo so hypocritical, so if he had an opinion abt an issue in 1988 and in 2011 with new information and facts available to him he should just stick to the old ideas and opinion, what do nigerians really want, what do u guys really want, u ask for change yet you complain when u see change
Politics / Re: Hon Patrick Obahiagbon On Fuel Subsidy Removal by marvix(m): 10:18am On Oct 12, 2011
Since when did Obahiagbon become one of the masses, This was the same man as member in Edo state house of assembly colluded with Igbinedion in the plubdering of the state, Igbinedion presented a budget that made no sense and Obahiagbon was the only one who commented, what he said was in latin and translated it to "I am very very satisfied", when he was at the NASS how many times did he stand up against all the loot sharing that went on, he should keep his grammar as it has no effect on fuel subsidy.

Now on the Fuel subsidy who is really benefitting from it? how much would it cost a private coy to import fuel to Nigeria? can we at least grant some waivers while we deregulate the downstream sector? why are we so scared of the change? even without deregulating is there any guarantee that the govt officials will stop looting? these are questions we need to ask ourselves.

I am not a proponent or antagonist of the fuel subsidy but would like to hear well researched debates on the issue

I know that before 2015 GEJ will be completely vindicated in the Nigerian political space.
Those who dont like the president will have no choice but to either shut up or take the Abaniwonda option.
Nigeria will come out better by 2015, we will once again have another credible elections with improvement from 2011 elections.
Power will improve, some of us will still remain in darkness but power will improve.
Personally I know that jobs are already been created, with what is going on in the oil sector and the relative peace in the Niger delta our best days truly lie ahead.
I believe in Nigeria and I know that I am part of the future, i choose to sow good seeds and leave a better legacy to my unborn kids
Politics / Re: N36bn ID Card Fraud - Why Can't GEJ Use The INEC Database? by marvix(m): 5:47am On Oct 04, 2011
I dont see why we should be worked up because N36b was approved for the ID card project.
Apart from INEC, sim registration, the FRSC new car numbers and drivers licence registration will be biometric same for the international passports.
The NIMC is an independent agency and has a right and should actually be the custodian of the a database of all Nigerians.
Having this national ID now can be used as a cross referencing for datas previously received, it is all to work together for our own good.
Calling it a fraud does not make it a fraud, what we should be interested in is getting value for this project, govt can initiate a policy where banks use fingerprint readers to pay and banks will be sold a link to this database, only the NIMC can do this, INEC,FRSC and Immigrations can not sell such data, police would have fingerprint readers and access to the database so that arrested individuals can have their prints run on all the databases

Ajanle are u saying he does not need our feedback since he has advisers who are already on his payroll.
His advisers will give him official reports and ours thru facebook will serve as a check 2 dose reports for all we know an adviser can be compromised to give good reports 2 d president but u and I on fb will tell d president exactly how we see it.
Politics / Re: GEJ's Personal Experience On National Railway Corporation (NLC) Transit Train by marvix(m): 5:30am On Oct 04, 2011
@Ajanle this is Nigeria not India, he wants to know from u. As he done anything wrong by postin the question? We really need to engage our leaders in constructive dialogue, this is the only way to encourage performance. If you think that anyone who serves as president, minister or gov or even commisioner in Nigeria will be poor then u are not started yet.
GEJ made a nice point asking, at least d rail have not been workin in d last 10yrs so we are just abt overcomin inertia!
Politics / Re: GEJ's Personal Experience On National Railway Corporation (NLC) Transit Train by marvix(m): 5:15am On Oct 04, 2011
I think GEJ just wants to get feedback from us.

For all we know, the guys running the rail maybe asking for approval of N1b for trains working and GEJ wants to hear first hand how far the amounts released last time has affected us.

Portharcourt has not seen any train or rail and I have said this on his status, instead of always criticising why dont we engage our leaders, if you have pics post them on his wall where he can see it if he actually goes through it, but I can tell you that Jonathan actually follows us on social media at least his advisers tell him what we are saying.

This to me is the dividend and beauty of democracy, we can actually talk to our leaders!!!
Politics / Re: The Govt Is Wasting Nigeria’s Wealth - El Rufai by marvix(m): 10:20am On Sep 24, 2011
I personally don't believe in revolution or protests to sack the status quo, for the simple reason that we would only end up working so hard to entrench another set of looters who may not even give us our freedom of speech. We must engage the powers that be within d ambit of law and due process, where are d leading lights in opposition what is the level of investment that they have put on d ground to make their platforms national in outlook, is there any saint in their folk, if u observe critically they are in d wings hoping we go the Egyptian way and they will immediately jump in. My people when our fore fathers fought colonialism they neva knew we cld get nepotism, when we fought against d military in IBB and prayed Abacha away we did not know that we cld get Obasanjo, let the political process weed out the tares!!!
Politics / Re: The Govt Is Wasting Nigeria’s Wealth - El Rufai by marvix(m): 11:58pm On Sep 23, 2011
El Rufai has said the truth, but it is a case of a monster he was part of creating goung out of cntrol. He was part of the team that created the monster called corruption as it looks today and it is evident in his 2nd paragraph where he said "make a nonsense of the monetisation policy we put in place" we can not expect govt to be run at the whim and caprices of individuals no matter how genuine their intentions maybe.

I have said on this forum before that corruption itself is not the problem of this country, but the brazen show of corruption and its dividends, in other climes corrupt individuals go extra mile to carry out corrupt acts and hide such, but only in Nigeria is a man elected to the Senate and b4 d end of d year he has houses everywhere in Abuja, Dubai and Uk and we the people start hailing him, calling ourselves supporters and fans.

We as Nigerians must realise that the solution does not lie in any nparty as it is constituted today or even in any indivdual, did El Rufai reject the estacodes he was paid as a minister, did he not have special assistants and did he not use SUVs, who was responsible for his medical bills while he was DG BPE and Minster FCT, corruption has been deregulated and this indeed is the problem.

It is so bad that anyone who chooses to fight corruption seems to be fighting the nation, because the populace survive on corrupt practises, there are 774 LGAs how many of the chairmen are not corrupt and invpolved in one corrupt deal or the other, there are 36govs how many of these govs are not corrupt or deal in one corrupt deal or the other, we have 42 ministers how many of them are not devising shady deals to their benefit, its a big cartel of corrupt individuals trying to out do each other.

The media as it is is so corrupt that they also benefit from these corrupt practises.

Politics / Re: Sanusi's Wikileak Expose: Patriot Or Traitor? by marvix(m): 2:10pm On Sep 08, 2011
What are people talking about national secret, so that he discussed with yaradua and Yaradua gave him all the support despite his indictment of a bank Yaradua has a stake in is national secret, that the Economic Adviser and Minister of Finance were not giving proper advice to the president is a secret, that he wanted Yaradua to be cautious with his support for Soludo because of what he might be involved in while a CBN governor has become a national secret, that the PIB should have been a Ministry of Finance battle instead of a Ministry of Petroleum battle in his own opinion is a national secret.

Do people on this forum have an idea what kind of man Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is, a man who was nominated for CBN gov by the president and when he was been screened for the appointment told the natioanl assembly members that he thinks the 7point agenda of Mr President is a waste of time and d President should focus on one agenda, a man whos job can be terminated by the NASS and yet went public with information that the NASS consumes 25% of the FG overhead expenses and when he was called upon to retract and apologise he offered to resign, a man who went to a friends book launch as the book reviewer and tokk the book to the cleaners.

I know people who know Sanusi personally, if any of us were opprtuned to have lunch in his house or your own house he would tell you even more, he would tell you challenges he experiences on his job, its an off hand thing he knows when to definitely keep shut but he can tell you hsi plans, he has nothing to hide, he told PHCN MD that he had very weak administrators and this was why they can not access all their approved funds in the CBN despite the fact that they need it, this was why Yaraduas govt was called a go slow govt, because money was not just released anyhow, whatever paper had to be produced must be produced if u like fake it but u must produce it.

Sanusi is an upright man and that is what this expose has shown for those of u lamenting about natioanl secrets I pray you tell me one natioanl secret in his discussion with the US ambassador!!!

Ricky_Ross:

People like you go all over the internet spreading lies and deceit First of all tell us how it will take Ghana 10 years to earn about 20 billion dollars? What was Ghana's income for last year and what is the projected income from oil exports/tourism/gold/cocoa etc for this present year? How do Ghanians live better than Nigerians when 60% of Ghanians poo open air bc they are too poor to build toilets, 60% are illiterates etc In my tribe it is the responsibility of parents to train their children up to at least secondary school. But in Ghana its a different story. A great percentage of boys/girls in Accra cant speak even pidgin English bc their parents are too poor to send them to school. I am yet to see any Nigerian that cant speak common pidgin English. Even my 98 years old grand mother speaks and understands English to some extent. In Ghana you can phuckkk any girl as long as you can buy her kenke which costs less than 50 Naira. POVERTY is the main reason why Ghanaian women are too cheap.

I know Nigeria is poor but its silly to compare Nigeria with Ghana, Ghana cannot match Nigeria in anything except corruption. Nigerians invented 419 scam but Ghanians have taken over and the sad thing they use juju charms which is why they mostly die young. Just spend 5 minutes of your time and google the word "SAKAWA" which means BLOOD MONEY in Ghana,

It is people like you who go all over Nigeria claiming Ghana has steady light etc when Ghanians live in darkness just like in Nigeria. Every rich man i know in Ghana owns generators, those who doesn't have simply cant afford it. There is hardly any day the light doesn't go on and off in Ghana just like Nigeria. I dont hate Ghanians, i only hate liers or people who say what they dont know. This is coming from someone who knows Ghana VERY well, have businesses in Ghana, have traveled all over Ghana, married to a Ghanaian and my first son was born there.

I would want you to tell us in simply terms how Ghanaians live better than Nigerians. When Malaysia became rich they started building sky scrappers, they built the PETRONAS TOWERS in KL which was the worlds tallest building for so many years. When you enter Malaysia you will see massive development everywhere. If Ghana is rich as you are trying to make us believe, how come there is not even a 10 story building in the entire Ghana, all the biggest estates and most expensive homes belong to Nigerians? How come Ghana has only one airport, one seaport etc when a single state in Nigeria like Rivers State with only 4 million population has one international airport, one local airport, two seaports, two refineries, the Rivers State secretariat is about 17 story etc. PLS TELL US WHERE CAN WE SEE THE WEALTH OF GHANA? Most roads in Ghana are in bad shape and filled with pot holes,

If you dont already know, Ghana is the second largest producer of cocoa in the world, producing over 20% of the world’s cocoa beans. Ghana is also the second largest producer of gold (its former name was Gold Coast) and has huge deposits of industrial diamonds and bauxite (aluminum). Ghana, after 54 years of independence, still has about 4,000 basic schools organized under trees, 5,000 in dilapidated structures, and 7,500 without
sanitary facilities,
