PoliticsRe: Ribadu Needs Repackaging by marvix(m): 8:13pm On Oct 21, 2010
In Nigeria, we want to move forward but we dont know how.

Anyone calling for Ribadus presidency wants d nation to move forward but they will only end up moving this nation back.

Let us ask ourselves have we as a people ever empowered any of our democratic leaders before?

Obasanjo was empowered by Ibb and the old goons who had ran down this country in 1999 and he bullied all of us to return in 2003 and he empowered yaradua, but now Jonathan is asking us to empower him in a free and fair contest.

Having a free and fair contest with a PDP victory for a popular candidate is indeed the begginning of our journey to a better and greater democracy, it is only when GEJ has won a free contest that Ribadu can even win an electoral contest or any other progressive for that matter.

Let us take a look at Ghana, Jerry Rawlings won a fair contest first before his party was voted out and his party has been returned to power.

If Ribadu can not make any effect in the senate then he will be a major disaster to the nation, if u fight at the presidency without diplomacy and tact the nation would blow up in your face no matter your good intentions, that is what Ribadu fans must take note of.

GEJ has policies that are geared towards a better nigeria, Yaradua had a great vision for this country, the 7 point agenda is a great agenda that should be pursued vigourously for the next 20yrs as it is indeed a masterplan to take us to where we need to be.

We may suffer a lot, we may have high number of jobless graduates while we pursue, the power situation may get worse, the roads may dilapidate a bit further security lapses may increase but we are just at the bend of the curve, because once the 7 point agenda is firmly rooted jobs would be created by every action been carried out, the power situation would improve drastically, security would be taken for granted, health care and education would be taken for granted.

I see a greater Nigeria and I believe in this greater Nigeria, It is possible let us all stand with one voice and say GEJ 4 president 2011, because with that same voice we can tell him his time is up.

My advice to Ribadu, go to the senate fight corruption till they choose to suspend u or even assasinate u and when u conquer the corruption in the national assembly then we will campaign vigourosly for you.

Thank you my brother, I wondered why he left these names out.

FYI, GJ might just be the SAME DIFFERENCE with the old order. I still have my doubts on him which still refuse to go. What is one thing he has done that he can be assessed on? Even his overblown hype on constant power generation was dead on arrival from the word GO.

I still see the core NORTH not yet giving up. With the way they are scheming to push forward a consensus candidate in the person of Gusau, a much more credible personality than their initially presented materials(IBB and Atiku), they might just take Jonathan to the cleaners.

It's not yet uhuru until the PDP primaries is fought and won.

Why are u lookin for one thing he has done, the things he has done abound, what has Gusau, or Atiku or Ibb done dat we shld contemplate them, before Fashola bcam gov what was d one thin he did, b4 Iginedion bcam gov what had he done, Goodluck shows promise, he represents something different, we are not where we want to be yet but right now I can say with all conviction we are on our way there!!!
PoliticsRe: Power Sector Reform @netotse And Beaf by marvix(m): 11:00pm On Oct 20, 2010
Hercules have a point, must we privatise everything before they can work. Remember that there was a time things were run by private companies before govt started running them.

The normal way systems are run is for individuals and private entities to start up a task and at a point when expansion seems to be overwhelming govt takes over.

If privatisation is the best solution pls can we kindly privatise the govt, allow people and foreign investors take charge of Nigeria, then the NNPC, universities and everything will be ok.

netotse:
you really need to read the roadmap, all these things have been addressed there. how long do you want nigerians to wait before the get electricity? you're thinking with a view to avoiding private money not with a view to providing electricity for the people, there's no way you can supply electricity without making use of OPM(other people's money) name the countries in the world that supply all their peoples' power needs by themselves without any help.

Do you know what it means when people say power is capital intensive? it means that you'll spend 1billion dollars to build a 1000MW plant, which will take at least 30months to complete and then it'll take you 10 years to break even(we're not talking profit yet). . .how many governments do you think can afford to be tying money down like that when there are other sectors that the money can be used in?your idea of regionalized generation is to be implemented in the roadmap but you still need a grid to increase the efficiency and also for redundancy.

if we weren't so behind your idea might have been more plausible but a situation where on average we spend more than double whatever the private sector might want to charge on private generation simple rubbishes your idea, cos if you dont pay the money to PHCN, you will sure as hell pay it to the diesel importers.
Netoste is it the roads or education or health facilities that are not capital intensive, or do u have any idea how long it will take to reconstruct all the major highways in d country, or build a railway and how long it wld take to recover the said funds.

This would bring us back to the 7point agenda, yaradua understood the problems beyond having light to power tvs and industries but solving the problem wholistically.

The reason people especially d obj govt could make a waste of monies spent in the power sector was because of lack of legal framework for the funds to be used.
secondly u can not just build power stations in a community or area that is not accessible by road, you need qualified personnel to build this projects what about the security of the individuals and infrastrucyure.

The roadmap of the power sector has to be taken into consideration with the 7 point agenda, can you solve power without peace in the Ndelta, can u move heavy equipments from ports to the locations they are needed on bad roads.

Power is not our biggest challenge unemployment is.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Exonerates Mend Again by marvix(m): 10:19pm On Oct 20, 2010
The massive oil bunkering currently going on in the Niger Delta region is perpetrated not by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta [MEND] or other militant groups but by “criminals”

The president said criminals are responsible for bunkering not militants or mend, even if u believe it is mend, does being mend excludes you from being a criminal?

“What is happening now is excessive bunkering and has nothing to do with the Niger Delta. They are criminals and they are not protecting any community”, Jonathan said.

Is that statement wrong?

please when reading try to understand the whole text, cant blame you though guess its the kind of education you received, but next time watch quietly before showing youself as an educated illiterate
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Exonerates Mend Again by marvix(m): 10:09pm On Oct 20, 2010
Why is it that you can not read to understand?

What has Jonathan said that is wrong, can the people who are involved in oil bunkering claim to be freedom fighters?

Let us make it clear to you in simple english,

If Tompolo is caught right now bunkering fuel or vandalising oil installation he will be treated as a criminal, not as MEND, that is what Jonathan is saying, there is no basis for any group to call itself militants or MEND and perpetrate evil, what are they fighting for?

As far as the FG is concerned MEND no longer exists as a freedom fighting group, MEND and those agitating for a better ND are at the table negotiating and offering suggestions on way forward, the kidnapping in the east is MEND responsible?

Beaf you know I have always said it right from the days of Yaraduas sickness that Jonathan is a grand politician who understands the nigerian politics.

I have always known that the man who seats patiently at the seaside will see the bodies of his enemies washed to him.

The presidency is not and never meant for noise makers, ask Nzeogwu, Orkar, Abiola and Atiku, they would confess if only they had known better.

Nigerians really need to understand that this is our time, the future is just about to begin, we are about to be freed from the chains of the past, we are about to usher in the new generation, Jonathan may not be the messiah but he can be the fore runner.

We must put the Babangidas, Atikus, Yaradua, Buhari, Sarakis behind us and prepare for the future of The Dukes, Fasholas, Oshiomoles, El-Rufai, Ribadus, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the bridge from our old dirty bad ways to the new clean good future.
PoliticsRe: Ribadu Needs Repackaging by marvix(m): 9:25pm On Oct 20, 2010
I am not a Ribadu fan or one of those who believe that he can make it to the presidency in 2011.

Ribadu is not groomed in Nigerian politics, he is yet to understand what it means to mobilize people for elections, despite his formation of the Integrity corp in the NYSC scheme when he had issues could the corpers stand for him.

Ribadu needs to be adviced by those who believe in him, In Nigeria there is no relevance for Presidential Candidate no matter how close or slim the margin by which he lost is, the same people who are supporting him now will be the first set of people to form the govt of national unity.

A senator of the Federal Republic will affect more lives and policies than a man who ran for presidency and lost.

The Yaradua-GEJ combinations are the reason y we are anticipating an electoral contest or did all the govs in 2003 in the south west win their elections how many were the courts able to upturn, GEJ is still trying to build the foundation for the development of this country and this is far more important than any problem of this nation, institutions must be properly built.

Ribadu would do better contesting at his senatorial district, that was how Obama started, he should deliver his senatorial district and if possible his state to his party.

At the senate he should lobby to be in the anticorruption committee and it would be impossible to have an anticorruption committee without Ribadu when he is in the chambers.

At the senate his voting patterns and his stands on national issues are what may endear him or otherwise to the people.

2011 is a critical point in our live as a nation and now we all seem to agree that it is not by being specially articulate that makes a man good for the presidency, I urge all comrades on this forum to take a stand and say GEJ 4 President 2011!!!!

Do the members of the house really know what they are doing, they are only asking the govt not to borrow to develop but should keep paying their bogus salaries from  what we are earning.

Will this borrowing really create jobs, is it impossible to borrow money to truly develop this country, these id10ts are the same f00ls who would be cornering the contracts and not execute them.

They should account for their previous ECA withdrawals first.

I am sure House of Reps will pass the bill if they are settled first.
The bolded part is actually the big issue, where were they when they were drawing down on the ECA.
PoliticsRe: Rebuilding Nigeria All Over By Nuhu Ribadu by marvix(m): 10:21pm On Oct 18, 2010
Yes Ribadu a new Nigeria is possible, but your time is not yet here.

You Ribadu was a big part of the merry go round you talked about, If Yaradua had been like your boss Obasanjo, nobody would be looking forward to the 2011 elections.

I appreciate all that you did for this nation but even you will admit that you failed, and I must emphasise you failed massively.

Your integrity is not in doubt, but your ability to lead a complex entity like Nigeria.

Leadership anywhere in the world is diplomatic, you Ribadu are a very undiplomatic fellow, politics is not always about who is right or wrong as the opposite of right is not always wrong in politics.

Ribadu you are a product of the Nigerian police Force, what was your contribution to the toll gate syndrome in the police force.

Ribadu you did a good job at the EFCC but how many of our past leaders were u able to bring to book, it is not enough to scare these people but be able to complete your homework and put them behind bars after forfeiting their assets, it seemed like you had no issues with the corruption charges against Iyabo Obasanjo because shes your boss' daughter.

Ribadu the youth must get their acts right, let us go down memory lane, It was youths and their youthful exuberance that has brought us to where we have found ourselves today, in 1966 some youths decided that they had had enough of the political class and went ahead with a coup that failed you my friend Ribadu is older than Major Nzeogwu when he executed the coup, another set of young men in July of 1966 decided on a counter coup and eliminated Ironsi gave us Gowon who was still single at the time he became president and another young man who defied his father's (Elders) advice led us into a civil war of 30months with nothing but blood to show for it, When Obasanjo became president in 1976 he sure was a youth but what were we able to achieve, Buhari was a young chap who was and is still passionate about his country but his lack of diplomacy cost him the presidency IBB was a youth one very corrupt and diplomatically corrupt ran this nation to a grind before exiting.

So Ribadu you will agree with me that we are no starngers to youthful leadership, but in my opinion the age or status of the leader has not been our problem but the requsite experience needed to take on the challenge.

Ribadu go to the senate, contest at your senatorial district let us knoe that u have a base and your people are behind you, go to the senate ribadu and tell the senators to their face that they are corrupt and live above corruption in the senate, play the NASS politics and survive then we would know that you are ready to lead us.

Ngige did so well in Anambra but Obi did much better to deserve 2nd term.
Who listens to Ikemba in Igboland?
If he command such respect,Obi should have won landslide.
But that wasnt the case.
Only 19% of the populace voted and that meagre vote was shared almost equally with Ngige.
Anambrarians voted for performance, humility and financial prudency which Obi represents.

It has little to do with Ikemba.very little.
@the bolded portion, that is what i expect of the 2011 elections we dont need free, fair and credible elections, we have had flawed and massively rigged selection, so if we have a fair election it would be an improvement and subsequently we could move to free nd fair and mayb finally add the credible to it.

My take is that if only 10% of the voting public are registered let them vote and let us have a govt that is voted by the populace.

PoliticsRe: Henry Okah In Contact With October 1 Bombers - South Africa Police by marvix(m): 9:30am On Oct 15, 2010
Beaf u doing a good job here, but there is no need to argue with people who feel they know the jobs of the police and security agents better than those that were trained.

Where in the world have u seen investigators declaring all the info they have, any criminal who has done his homework properly never owns up to crime even when glaring evidences are put up against them.

Okah is a criminal amnesty or not, he has contacts with the bombers, he is a known arms dealer, so the bombers who gave them funds to purchase explosives are more important than the bombers themselves.

In due time the truth or what will be accepted as the truth will be out and would still be up for debate.
PoliticsRe: Asari Dokubo On Henry Okah by marvix(m): 1:41pm On Oct 12, 2010
Reading this article shows me a lot more of the Courage of the Yaradua/Jonathan government as against the Obasanjo/Atiku administration.

This is totally unacceptable, no matter what their struggle was for our security under Obj failed us and what we are seeing now is a result of all those failures.

Dokubo is a criminal as well as Okah and everyone he mentioned not excluding Odili and Alams, innocent people died with all these weapons he was talking about and we lost men of our armed forces whatever their crime had been, they are our representatives.

Lastly no freedom won by crude means can last, this bullshit about resource control and struggle is all criminally motivated but then I remember the words of a great leader Umaru Musa Yaradua, the boys in the creeks are our brothers, the government is equally responsible for the agitation and criminality going on in the Niger delta, the Nigerian army can not and should not be used against our brothers, we can achieve more through dialohue, this was what informed his discussions on Amnesty, all Yaradua was saying is let us forgive the past and chart a new way forward, the Amnesty was never meant to be an end in itself but was a means to the end, Rome was not built in one day.

We all celebrate Amnesty but that was not what Yaradua had in mind, the Amnesty was the beginning, development of the Niger delta, righting the wrongs of the past, he was working with the NASS to ensure that whatever is done for the ND would stand the test of time and become a standard, the petroleum bill he sent which was to ensure royalties mfor producing communities and dedicated bodies to manage this royalties.

The Yaradua dream can live on in Jonathan, a lot of us will want to jump at me that Jonathan has not done anything to show that he has the ND on his agenda, but I will say that first he has to win the 2011 elections to be able to do exactly what needs to be done and done properly.

We should never be in a hurry, where we are today is the result of a continuous backward movement for 25yrs without any forward movement, we cant get back even to the starting point in 1yr,or 4yrs.

The destruction IBB wrecked from 1985-1994 can not be erased within 3yrs, the ineptitude and wickedness brought on the nation by Abacha from 1994-1998 can not be swept under the carpet and the atrocities and deceit wrecked on the nation by Obasanjo from 1999-2007 cannot be wished away.

I once again say let us start continue with what Yaradua has started by allowing Jonathan win the 2011 elections, I want to make a passionate plea on this forum that we should all stand behind Jonathan now, we should let him know that he can win the 2011 election fairly, let us all throw our support to him because 2011 is not as important as 2015 or 2019, 2011 is the beginning of the new Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: More Ex-bank Chiefs Will Be Jailed – Sanusi by marvix(m): 1:40am On Oct 11, 2010
When people said that the bank chiefs would eventually walk out free after the death of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua, I said I knew President (Goodluck) Jonathan as Vice-President and that it would not happen.

Sanusi was confident in Jonathan from when he was VP, he also knew that he personally had nothing against the bank chiefs, so why should we change GEJ now, the Minister of finance said “this could be the defining decade for Nigeria.” The empasis here is defining, that means that things could still go wrong, we cant afford to sack Jonathan now, we need to continue with the foundation Yaradua was laying before his death, the 7point agenda and the emphasis on the rule of law is very important in our country today, the mafia style of Ribadu and Obj cant win the fight against corruption.
PoliticsRe: Okah. Femi Falana Knows Jonathan’a Associates Who Called Me. by marvix(m): 12:53am On Oct 11, 2010
There is no need to give GEJ a bad name in order to hang him.

This is politics and like I have always said Jonathan understands the Nigerian politics and there is a way he is playing it to bring a change.

When everyone was shouting Yaradua should resign and labelled Jonathan a coward my position then was that Jonathan was behind the politics of the Yaradua saga, he was the one who allowed Aondoaka fool himself, he let the CABAL exhaust themselves and held the governors and senators hostage till they came around and gave him powers to act, then he took actions redeployed Aondoaka before finally dissolving the FEC.

We dont expect angels in politics, humans are in politics, Jonathan may have lied but then he is human, he may have wanted to use the blast as an opportunity but then it is politics, if Ibru could plea bargain and forfeit N150b to get a 6mth jail term why wont we just use the bomb blast to silence IBB and keep him in a cooler.

Okah telling us abt an aide to the president still does not implicate Jonathan or exonerates IBB, all okah is saying for now is that he was not involved in the blast but was asked to implicate someone.

Now okah says he is not involved in the bomb blast since he has been in SA but he knows that the boys inthe creek are armed to the teeth, how did he know this, is it true that he is arming the boys in the creek as Asari claims, and if Asari is right can it then not be said that he armed some of these boys he is so confident about with the bombs dat went off in Abj.

Has Okah become a saint in our nation, is he now the face of our struggle for freedom?

I dont give a hoot about a man who threatens with war without diplomacy, if he knew that Yaradua was on the right path y did he refuse to play a role in his govt when asked to do so, Nigeria can never be for the oil producers alone, it cant be for the northerners or westerners alone, we must learn to compromise, look at another mans view, negotiate provide a win win situation, u cant ask that you control 100% of ur resources and make ur region stronger than the union,There is no American state that can be stronger than the United States all together, we must grow and when growing we cant jump from the elementary to the University.

If America who in 1776 declared that all men are equal intheir constitution had slaves, and went on after a 100yrs to consider a black mans vote to be 3 5th of a white mans vote and finally after 200yrs a black man occupies the seat, they didnot achieve this by insisting that the union collapses or a black man becomesd president.

Okah we dont care if u were contacted or not, do u need a $100m to be able to pay ur legal bills, I dont give a damn if u are vindicated or not, while we are here working hard to see to a better future you are with ur family in SA enjoying urself and arming people in the Niger delta.

Shame on you Mr Okah.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Would Rig Election - Prophet Ayodele by marvix(m): 11:56pm On Oct 09, 2010
Why do pastors like to dabble in politics. What are we supposed to do abt his prophecy, If God says Jonathan will rule by rigging who are we to change it.

The truth be told its a win-win situation for us, in the PDP we will be having a man that has not been a member of the inner caucus with a desire to win a fair contest even if the fair contest will come in 2015, IBB and Buhari can go to their retirement, Ribadu,Duke, Fashola would be strong contenders that can ease Jonathan in 2015.

I know Nigerians want solutions to our complex problem instantaneously, but for those of us that studied mathematics enthisistically, we know that a complex problem can not be solved in one line, the workings would show, Nigerians problem is a complex problem and we have to introduce some constants and use them to resolve the equations before reaching the answer.

IMO we dont need a free, fair and credible election in 2011, we are coming from a flawed election in 2007, we can have a credible election in 2011 which may not necessarily be free and fair but atleast credible without ballot snatching and multiple thumb printing then by 2015, we can add the free and fair to the credible elections by producing a sound and comprehensive voters register and maybe introduce electronic voting.

The future is bright, there is a silver lining in the dark cloud, Just support GEJ for 2011 we will be killing another group of the CABAL in this country.

To that is the major point.
OBJ may be good to mock but in all truthfullness the man set some very steady foundations for SOMEONE ELSE TO DEVELOP ON. I hate Yaradua cos he inherited a much beta Nigeria than he left. IBB is just the embodiment of evil and wrong. I love OBJ, I don't think many could have done beta in his shoes, it mustn't have been easy all those dogs scrambling for positions to gorge themselves on and he keeping them at bay. I still no gree say the Otta farmer stole TOO MUCH or any degree comparable to IBB's.

@ Parnassus dont get it twisted on the bolded Yaradua left a better Nigeria than he met it.

The courts were rendered incapacitated, everyone felt the only way to get issues resolved is by taking laws into their hands but Yaradua showed us otherwise by obeying all court injuctions and rulings he tried building institutions.

The man never gave his word and went back on it at least we can see that in the petrol prices and before you run on the state of emergency he was supposed to declare in the power sector it was because of the level of corruption in the power sector that made him soft pedal.

If anyone is to be considered as Father of Modern Nigeria pls it has to be Yaradua.

That everyone is looking forward to the 2011 elections is because of Yaraduas stand for free and credible elections.

Please this thread is about two devils please dont bring a genuine angel into it and please change ur orientation abt Yaradua there is no point hating a man who died trying his best for this country.

I had to do this to correct the notion that he destroyed the foundation Obj laid, what foundation are u talking abt, the increase in VAT, fuel prices just two weeks to his exit, a foundation of witheld lagos N30b after a court ruled it illegal, an election that didnot make Yaradua a proud victor, power sector in shambles after $16b, Benin-Ore road awarded 5 times and yet no work done, Abeokuta-Lagos expressway via Otta where the funds have been approved and paid 100% and J Berger not havin the money. Please spare Yaradua, he left Nigeria better than he met it that was why the northerners have not been able to do anything to Jonathan!!!
PoliticsRe: Terrorism - I Did Not Exonerate Mend -jonathan by marvix(m): 9:08am On Oct 09, 2010
All along my position has been that GEJ never exonerated or absolved MEND, he had Intel that even all the security chiefs may not have. The person who interogated Dokpesi can not have all the info the president have.

MEND was used as a straw, should we all go to sleep if MEND have committed the act.

Now the president is trying to explain himself in response to outbursts from Nigeria, is this not what we expect from our leaders.

How can we forget so soon, when Obj was president how many times did he ever try to re explain himself or clear the air on whatever was going on in the country. What abt IBB uptill today has not tried to explain why he annuled the June 12 election.

We should all be patient is a criminal act and investigations are ongoing we would get to the root of all this.

The important thing we should know is that Jonathan must return as President 2011.

GEJ immediately came out and denied MEND was involved , after MEND said they were the ones that did it , he now gets some EX-mend commanders to deny MEND's involvement , now SSS are trailing a certain politician that has $20million lodged in his account and went to South Africa 2 weeks ago , please I hope Wale Adenuga has picked up his pencil and has started taken notes , the next Super Story must be all out 3D action movie

Until GEJ brings out real concrete evidence to state so I do not believe IBB or Dopkesi (as much as I dislike them both) are guilty of this bomb blast , this all smells of giving a dog a bad name so as to hang it.
Niger head, let us use our heads, first we received Intel that there would be bomb blasts starting from the 29th of september, we also have suspects already that we are investigating, we swing into action no bom was blasted on the 29th to discourage the govt from goin on with the celebration, on the 1st we hold the celebrations and out of desperation they exploded some bombs some distance away from the venue, we know that there was a $100m in the plot.

Niger head y u find it difficult to understand and a whole lot of us in this forum is, we think that the bombs that exploded were the only bombs they planned to explode, GEJ was surprised that any bomb exploded, because he thot he had taken care of it, IBB expected the bombs to explode at Eagles square that was y he didnt attend so as not to be caught in the stampede, Jonathan does not need a bomb to set up IBB but IBB can use this bomb plot to prove that Jonathan is not in control of our security, all of us agree that our security forces are slack and we assume they dont know jack, it is because terrorists in America know abt their diligence and efficiency that they plan their operations very technically, I am sure that like my frnd who says he would explode a bomb in NA with $20m thinks that he would just carry bombs and walk into the NASS and deliver and drop, if u receive $20m the SSS would be on u, when u receive a bomb even the UK intel can give info, so the guys who may have done the job dint expect dat it wld be a serious threat.

PoliticsRe: Gej Nailed Finally- Okah Spills The Bin! by marvix(m): 1:13am On Oct 06, 2010
What are we all arguing about. The poster is just been cynical in what way has GEJ been nailed finally, how can Okahs words be sacrilegious like he could not be lieing because hes in SA.

Quote from ExInferis,
consider ibb:

as the genius behind so many successful coups he must be a master tactician, a cunning strategist. as a onetime military ruler he knows the inner workings of government and security agencies. and the former NSA Aliyu Gusau is an ally. so, how can someone with such pedigree hand over such an intricate plot to a certain dim bulb media mogul, one who apparently isnt smart enough to avoid direct contact with such lowly cretins as the text-messaging bombers? does that sound like the evil genius maradona of legend, myth and folklore?

then again what would be the whole point of the bombing attempt? how would it benefit IBB, or advance his cause? how is it political capital? how can such a brazen act of terrorism with all its propensity for leading to one's demise be a smart political move? WHAT IS THE POLITICAL GAIN IN IT?

What was intricate about a blast at the Ministry of justice when d president was at eagles square, havent u hrd d SSS report, they were to have started the bombing days b4 the independence anniversary, but those were foiled, If we are actually talking abt a $100m bomblast i dont think its just for 2 car bombs, we must try 2 look dispassionately, the govt had info deployed its security agencies all areas the President was expected to use where covered, that is the only reason y they didnot panic at eagles square because they must have been sure that the arena was safe.

IBB may have planned to have the president murdered so the $100m would make sense, a sensitive job lik dis wld require upfront payment, now the Nigerian security is known to be lax and very weak in intelligence so y wld u want to employ high intelligence, armed robbers in Nigeria spend their stolen money in police barracks, so why would boys who feel they are well covered be careful.

The bomb blast would help his campaign by pointing that Jonathan does not have a grip of the security of the nation.
SportsRe: FIFA Bans Nigeria For Government Interference by marvix(m): 2:00am On Oct 05, 2010
In my opinion FIFA can not be greater than the govt of any nation.

Is it compulsory we participate, what if FIFA wants us to remain dat way so dat we cant be a threat, just let some idiots keep running the football house in Nigeria.

What did FIFA do abt spotys and NFF officials choosing players, we were not suspended for fielding over aged players but this.

Well we have bomb blasts to contend with, i dont think a wise man would be chasing rats when his roof is on fire!!!
PoliticsRe: Abuja Bombers Text Messages by marvix(m): 1:45am On Oct 05, 2010
jabbok:
More questions:

Let us rewind back to the OCT 1 bombings. Few metres from where our President, foreign heads of state, nigerians and foreigners were "celebrating", the 1st bomb goes off; followed minutes later by the second; fatalities followed.

In hearing all those bangs, what gave the presidents security details the courage to advise the President to continue with the occasion? For crying aloud, this was a serious security breach, and yet the occassion continued.

How were they sure that there wasn't more bombs ready to explode somewhere else even closer to our dear President?

Would one be nuts to assume they(the security details on ground) knew the number of bangs they were expecting?

Another angle: Is IBB too large a factor that GEJ is not sure of defeating the evil genuis at the poll, hence a frame up of his campaign structure or self?
I just dey wonder
. Too many questions , no answer
What if based on the intel they had about bombs they had comed out the entire eagles square and the Federal secretariat around it nad knew for sure that there was no bomb at the eagles square venue, then would it not be wiser to remain calm in the secured location than attempting to move the president and all other high profile dignatries into areas not well covered.

I am looking at it critically the Ministry of Justice is not really close to eagles square, the attack may have been that after the explosions within the eagles square as the president is coming out other bombs like the Ministry of justice would also be exploded, remember there was a third explosion which didnot cause any fatality.

omoboy08:
It is now clear that Mr. President is afraid of Hill-Top General. This is a very cheap blackmail. We dont want any facebook stories from him again if d story is a false one. He is beginning to add more to his enemies. May we know d truth soonest
Why would Jonathan want to blackmail IBB, y not just bring up the $12b windfall, and set him up with the EFCC, y wld Jonathan want to use a bomb blast that was set to embarass him and rubbish him as a Commander in chief who is not safe even in his countrys capital.
PoliticsRe: Dokpesi Arrested For Abuja Bomb Blast by marvix(m): 1:31am On Oct 05, 2010
A lot of people trying to rationalise the text message seem to have forgotten that this is Nigeria.

Is it not possible that the perpetrators believed that "NOTHING DEY HAPPEN" "DEM NO FIT CATCH US".

I have always said it before that corruption is not the problem in Nigeria but the brazen and shameless way it is being carried out.

In Nigeria armed robbers go into banks that have security cameras without masking their faces becaus ethey know that nothing will happen.

What if the boys were fully confident that nobody would be on their trail, believing they were having fun and they were covered, and nobody can arrest them.

I am not trying to conclude but what I am sayin is that here in Nigeria it is possible for someone to do this stuff and send silly text messages and even make phone calls or even go to a beer parlour boasting about it to whoever cares to listen.

This is an open challenge to Jonathan, he is the CinC and in he was in his country celebrating his countrys golden jubilee and somebody had the effrontery to plan and execute the bombings, it is a direct insult on his person, a slap across his face.

Any tactics, any means, any method right now is fair, just like when Yaradua ordered the army to quell the boko harams in the north it was shoot at sight order that they were given, if only to send a message across that we would not be tolerating rubbish, Jonathan I guess it is your turn.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Lobbies Ex Militant To Denounce Abuja Bomb Blast by marvix(m): 3:54pm On Oct 04, 2010
I would like to start my comment with a quote from Goodluck E Jonathan.

"Nigerians may recall that it was not our military might that brought peace to the Niger Delta rather it was the sober nationalistic and communal approach of dialogue as driven by our late leader President Umaru Musa Yar'adua that worked to bring peace to the region."

If we all recall that obj sent a whole battalion of soldiers that sacked villages looking for militants yet after 2yrs people had to move around PH with their hands in the air and soldiers everywhere.

Yaradua within 90days got a good number of the militants out, kidnapping has moved from d south south to the south east and we walk freely in PH even foreigners move relatively freely in PH these days even if not like how it has been in the past.

The masterminds behind the bomb blast want a reaction from the president and are ready to highlight his over reaction in the press and I have said before that right now the most important thing to Jonathan should be how he returns as president in 2011, and Nigerians we are at the edge of a new dawn dont let us be carried away to think that we have gotten to the promised land where we can just sack the president that is interested in working, we cant handover to a Ribadu now because the establishment can not accomodate him, but Jonathan is the establishment right now.

If we follow this administration closely you would observe that their main aim has been to institutionalise institutions and remove personalities from it, that explains Yaraduas respect for the rule of law, his setting up of the Uwais commission and taking the report to the Council of state and forwarding to national assembly, the budget issues he always had with the NASS,, his neutrality in party matters like when a new party chairman was to be elected, his neutrality to other arms of govt as exemplified in his role in the Etteh saga and the witheld Lagos funds, these institutionalising of institutions is more important than fighting corruption itself, buiding roads or schools, fixing electricity because once institutions are institutionalised all other aspect of national life would start to fall in place, when you know that you can take the govt to court and win a case fairly and govt would obey the courts without "studying" the courts declaration then you would not be frustrated to contemplate blowing up oil installations.

Finally we must not give in to those whose philosophy is that if they cant get what they want from the nation then the nation may as well collapse.

In as much as a man may want to inherit his fathers wealth it is still forbidden for him to pray for his fathers death!!
PoliticsRe: 50 Events That Shaped Nigeria’s History by marvix(m): 12:12pm On Oct 04, 2010
Why is May 2007n not on your timeline.

Do you feel the coming in of Yaradua is not an event that has shaped this country, or how would the amnesty deal have come into play without a Yaradua.
PoliticsRe: Colonel Lawan Gwadabe Accuses IBB, Atiku, Gusau by marvix(m): 11:53am On Oct 04, 2010
Y is it that we dont give deserving and eager people the chance to achieve something.

Answer is because we simply are too scared.

This country is at the threshold of a new beginning and we must all be wise in analysing issues.

The single most important thing to Jonathan now is the 2011 elections and this is because he cant achieve much, the cabal that holds this country dont give up easily, they are almost everywhere, they can mess up then country for any president.

The important thing to us is how to see that Jonathan gets the presidential seat peacefully in 2011 and then it would be for four years then he can start to bring these people to book bit by bit.

Let us not demand a Buhari enthusiasm from our president because as we have seen you wont last, ask buhari he would explain to you, all that Buhari truly stood for were in the interest of the nation yet he couldnot last 2 yrs while all ibb stood for was in the interest of the cabal he built and not inthe interest of the nation yet he lasted for 8yrs, Buhari can not bring himself back to power yet IBB is the godfather of the Nigerian presidency.

Goodluck may make some mistakes but he is human, the bomb blast was meant to rattle him yes he was rattled but then do we condemn him for that, we cant throw Goodluck Jonathan the baby out with the dirty water of Nigerian politics.

Gwadabe should be left in the cooler in 2011 we can make him NSA or EFCC chairman.

We need people who can prosecute corruption diplomatically, at least we can all see Ribadu and Buhari as examples.
PoliticsRe: Goodluck Jonathan Says Mend Is Not Responsible For Abuja Attacks. by marvix(m): 11:55pm On Oct 02, 2010
What happened yesterday was a terrorist act and MEND was just used as a straw; MEND is not a terrorist group," the President said.

The bolded part is the emphasis of Mr Presidents statement.

The act was a terrorist act and MEND was used as a straw, it shows that some investigations have been done.

Nothing amazes me more than the way people sit by their pcs and believe they know more than a man who receives all the information.

Mr president is not naive and his statement did not warrant any such comment.

We must also realise that investigations are ongoing so he himself must not say more than necessary and sometimes talk in a way so that those they are looking for would think that no one can trace them

Lets keep to the topic if we want to analyse how the ND states have spent their money we can start anoda thread for that purpose
PoliticsRe: Abuja Naija @50 Bomb Blast In Pictures by marvix(m): 10:33pm On Oct 02, 2010
There is no justification for this crass action. No matter what MEND thinks we cant all be expected to agree on all issues and u achieve nothing by killing, because he that lives by the sword shall die by the sword.

Nigerians we must be wary, this is a critical time in our history, we all want change, but we cant get change by wishful thinking or rash actions, we must play the politics, some corrupt people must be allowed to live and enjoy the fruits of their corruption while some others must be used as scapegoats!

The most important thing now is to have a man we know we can relate to as president come 2011, that is just the first step.

We need peace without peace you cant change anything.

Let me use America as an example, in 1776 Americans in their constitution declared that all men are equal, but then the black men where not allowed to vote at that time, after a lot of push and shove and after more than a 100yrs Americans agreed to have the blacks vote be counted as 3/5th of a white vote and that same America has grown to the point where a black man has risen to become president.

Nigerians we must be patient, nothing achieved by force or thru the back door lasts, it is from the black pot that white pap appears, we can never throw the baby out with the bath water no matter how dirty the birth water and baby is.

I commiserate with all who lost their lives in the explosion, just received a message that a friend of mine is in the hospital I pray for his recovery.

It doesnt make sense, if u hav no reason to celebrate must u stop others who feel that they have a reason to?  If we lay hold on anyone who knows jack abt these attacks such person would be tried for treason!!!
