Thanks dear. I don enter wahala be that. Please any carry on for baby in terms of food and would they allow me to check in my hand luggage

Yes, you are entitled to a carry on bag for your baby and yea, you can check in your hand luggage but that will be at the boarding gate not the counter. So you will have to manage with Ur hand luggage till you get to the boarding gate.

Please how much was your discount because mine from oakbend was about 9800 is that too much

Maryland hardly gives discount. .. They gave me just 1% discount which is less than $20. I noticed the VO kept on checking the bottom of the itemized bill to see if there was any significant discount .

Can't say if ur discount is too much.. . But I can tell you that they frown at low medical bills aand huge discount.

So I went for my 221G interview today... .

Brief history : I got my 1st Visa in 2014 and I declared it was for birthing during the interview, I gave birth In 2015 and renewed my visa via dropbox in 2016. I had my 2nd baby in 2017 and also went on vacation in 2018.

Fast forward to Dec 2018, we applied for dropbox but we got the letter to schedule a follow up appointment in Jan after 5weeks. .. We got Feb 27th for the interview date. So many people were at the embassy for 221G interview.

Got to our turn
Me and DH: good morning
VO: how many kids did you have in the US?
Me: 2
VO: can I see your payment receipt
Me: hands over the well arranged receipts per birth itemised bill from both hosp and doctor (I used Maryland for both delivery, same hosp and doctor and paid about 11k dollars per birth)
VO: what are you going to do in the US?
Me: vacation
VO: how long?
Me: 3 weeks
VO: where are you going to and do you have someone there?
Me: Maryland and yes, my uncle
VO: wat do you do
Me and DH: blah blah blah
VO starts to detach pur old passports from the bundle and I knew at that point that she was going to give us.
VO hands over the white paper and told us to pick up our passports in 3days.

Am so relieved and happy .

What I heard from other people's interview is that itemised bill is a must have and they frown at huge discount. Heard a VO telling a pregnant lady that the discount she got for her previous birth was too much and she denied her.
Another man was denied cos he didn't come with his wife's itemised bill instead he came with a letter saying she's not owing.
I also noticed the VO was checking something on the wall in her cubicle : as if they have price list of how much hospital bills shld be per state.
I wish other people going for interview good luck oh

Anyone experienced this before

I can imagine the disappointment. You should get your bags within a week. Hope you filled the missing bag form at the airport. You can also visit airfrance website, go to baggage issues and fill a compensation form request. You will be compensated for inconveniences.

Ladies and Gents, please advise:

KLM or British Airways?

Which is better for a pregnant woman?

I will say British Airways. Although it all depends on the trip duration and layover.

But when it comes to infant luggage allowance, British airways gives 23kg while KLM /Airfrance gives just 10kg.
Its left for u to decide.

Good day my people, I commend the wonderful work here, God bless all of us.
Pls I have an issue , I gave birth to my first child in the USA, now am about going for my second missionary journey in the next 2 months, the issue here is that my international passport still bares my maiden name, I was told that I might be stopped at the airport for child trafficking since I don't have the same surname with my child and the only solution is to make a new passport with my husband's name on it and my passport expires 2019, I was hoping to leave it till it expires, please is this true?, thanks as I await a response, God bless

Just go with ur marriage certificate and change of name including ur child's birth certificate . At leastur name is on the birth certificate as the mother of the child. I traveled with my toddler armed with this documents and I didn't have any issue Wen asked to prove the relationship. Mind u my passport is still in my maiden name.

That is if there is BA @ ur airport of exit. I' l b leaving from Norfolk Airport to JFK with American airlines, I'm sure they wnt allow baby onboard without a ticket . Had to go to BWI to pay 4 a ticket last night (luckily I visited Maryland last two nights). Spent $109 on uber jst to buy a damn ticket! BA charged my baby $432 (still vexing 4 dem)

Don't mind them jor, their fee for infant ticket is always high. I paid $303 for my baby in June this year.

Please who has travelled with British airways ? I need your help urgently pls. I called to add my baby's ticket and they said I can't pay over the phone (or even through the travel agency from naija). Said I have to go to their ticketing office @ Dallas, Phil, NY or Baltimore. Problem is i'm in Virginia, hw do they expect me to start travelling wit my newborn jst to add her to my return ticket.
Has anyone been in this situation? Pls how did u do it? Is there any alternative? Also can someone go to their ticketing office to make payment on my behalf?
We are due to travel on 25th. pls help

I flew BA for my birthing trip twice and I always pay for my infant ticket at the airport on the day of departure. I just call them to add infant to my ticket. It's also faster at the airport if you pay with ur card instead of cash.

please how is London entry like before joining connecting flight to US
You don't enter London when u re connecting at Heathrow except you have a valid UK visa, so all you ll do is clear immigration for connecting flights and wait at the departure lounge.
Renewal in Abuja has been so strict of recent don't know If it so in Lagos.
For itemised bill when I had my baby in maryland the bill Sent to me showed a the cost which I am to pay so I decided to go to hospital to pay and a detailed breakdown of what the bill covers (test done in hospital, admission fee, pain killer I took, delivery fee et al) the various costs was stated which sum to the earlier bill I received it was detailed both for I and my daughter and after payment it was still printed same way with my balance been zero. Don't really know if that is what they mean as itemised bill though. Someone with an Idea should clarify pls
.

Yes, that is the itemised bill. I got same in Maryland for my 2 deliveries.

I bought British Airways ticket for my family to El Paso .

I WILL NOT ADVISE MY ENEMY TO FLY BRITISH AIRWAYS. IT IS ADVISABLE TO USE OTHER AIRLINES TO US, ESPECIALLY FOR PREGNANT WOMEN, BECAUSE OF THE STRESS TO GET YOUR NEW BORN ON THE TICKET.

PLEASE STAY OFF.

Awww, so sorry about the inconveniences. I flew BA for my 2 missionary trips and I didn't have this issue. I guess the reason u re having this issue is cos ur flight from El Paso is with American Airline . My flight is always with BA from the departure airport in US. I think you should call their US Call Center and explain to them, maybe they can be of help. How would you pay $2500 to re schedule their tickets.

Hi @Marylandmama, pls did you have extra luggage when returning to Naija? And was it BA that got you to your final destination or American Airlines ?
I am asking these because AA got me to my final destination (Virginia tho BA is d one that arranged this) so they are still the ones that'll take baby & l to JFK to catch a BA flight to London and then Lagos. And I plan on having an extra luggage so I wanted to know if I'll still pay another extra luggage fee to AA after paying to BA.
Pls any other mom that had bn in such situations can weigh in. Tnx

I had extra luggage and you pay for excess luggage once at the departure airport, they will probably check in ur luggage to ur final destination since ur booking was done with BA who has an arrangement with AA. I flew from Maryland to Lagos and it was BA that flew me all the way. You can ask them at the counter during check in but am sure they will check in ur luggages to ur final destination.

Thanks to everyone for the useful information provided here.

I have a B1/B2 visa and intend to travel in March to birth my LO. I have just a quick question; has anyone traveled to New York via London (Virgin)? I read online that transit of pregnant women at Heathrow airport is often hectic with immigration issues for someone without a UK transit visa. I contacted the airline and they seem not to have any info on transit or immigration.

I will be traveling at 35 weeks and want to be sure this route will not cause issues for me.

Thank you

I traveled with BA for my birthing trips and I normally have layover in Heathrow, you don't need a transit visa as you will not pass thru the main Immigration.

Wow! thanks for the info on Laurel. i had gotten their no online but now i'm a bit concerned about them hoping the embassy won't have an issue with me using them. I got a quote from Shady grove and it wasn't family friendly at all o!. Lol. Please what hospital did you use. Can you share details and cost with me pls. I sent you a PM pls respond. DH is still optimistic we can get something in Virginia that's close to maryland. Left for me alone i would have ported to Texas ( very easy to get quotes and correspondence). Pls help.

Got ur pm. I have replied you. I used Howard county general hospital. It's on the high side too. Maryland is just too expensive

Thanks checking them out.
Please doctor's contact. Also what was their rate so i can compare when they share with me. I sent you a PM. Please respond.
Thanks.

From what I heard, Laurel regional hospital maternity section has been closed down for now. There was an issue with not meeting the required standard. Dunno if they have reopened it now. You can also google shady Grove Adventist hospital. Didn't use them cos of the long distance from my host's house.

Pls the fit to fly, will I av to print any paper frm the internet and doc will sign en stamp on it or will my doc just use letter headed paper.
plsss kindly advise on how to go abt fit to fly frm my doc

Pls house, does turkish carried 35weeks too or its only BA?

Depends on the airline. Some airlines like Qatar requires you to download a form from their website and give it to your doctor to fill and sign. For BA, you simply present the letter from your doctor stating how far gone you are at the time of travel, number of fetus and that you are fit to fly.

You can check Turkish website for their pregnancy policy. Am only sure about BA, they accept up to 36weeks for a singleton.

Hello house,

please just having a conversation with my aunt n she was implying that whatever surname i register with @ the hospital is what they will put for my unborn child even though i told her i would be coming with my marriage certificate( i have not done change of name, only got married in late last yr plus my visa is in my maiden name).

can anyone clarify plz? has any1 been in this situation?

My passport is still in my maiden name too. But it's the name you fill on the birth certificate form in the hospital for the baby that will reflect on the birth certificate. I filled my name the way it's written on my passport and then filled my husband's name as the father. The certificate came out with his last name as the baby's last name too.

BA accepts fit to fly from your doctor / hospital. Make sure the date on the fit to fly is not more than 3days from your travel date.

Wen I was in US (Nov 2016-Jan 2017), Access Bank limit was $200 per month @N375 or so.

I got here in April and it was 100$ @ 325 for access bank and 100$ @ 320 for gtb. All of a sudden around April ending, all the banks increased their rates. Access has been stable @ 375 but gtb has been fluctuating BTW 380 and 400.

Mums already in the us..please how much do banks charge for pos transaction with visa or master card and is access bank limit still 200dols monthly or what's the best account to open that offers good transaction limit and charge.

Access bank is 100$ @ 375 to a dollar, Gtbank also has a monthly limit of 100$ @ 380 to 400 naira to a dollar. Gtbank rate fluctuates so you can't really predict.
It's better to buy black market than use ur gtb card atimes.
