Fantastic move. Our language and culture must not be allowed to die. That will never happen. Talking to those of us forming oyibo more than the Oyibo man himself. You grow up in the south east yet u claim u can't speak Igbo. Come collect medal. Greatness is being able to speak your native language when occassion demands it and also being able to speak English when needed too. Willie ji action on this one. |
Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra, on Tuesday, said he would float a radio station that would broadcast its programmes in Igbo language. He made this known during a public event organised by an Igbo cultural society known as “Otu suwakwa Igbo’’ headed by former Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Pita Ejiofor. The governor said “this is my contribution toward preventing the Igbo language from going into extinction.” Obiano expressed dismay at the failure of parents to teach their children the Igbo language and culture. He added that henceforth, pupils in the state would wear Igbo traditional attire to school every Wednesday. According to him, folklore will be taught to primary school children every Wednesday evening. The governor said that the Igbo folklore he learnt while growing up had helped in shaping his behaviour and guided his relationship with other people till date. “Igbo folklore is powerful in building morals and values. I can’t forget my late primary school teacher and the way he used Igbo folklore to teach us great lessons. “Even as a governor, those stories about the tortoise and other animals still guide my life.” He assured the Igbo cultural society that the state government would strengthen the law that would make it mandatory for all to communicate in Igbo language and wear traditional attire on Wednesdays. Former National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, described language and religion as the true identities of a people. He said “we should not allow Igbo language to die as predicted. For me, I have Igbo odour and I smell Igbo; my red cap is my joy as an Igbo man.” In her remarks, Mrs Stella Onuorah, the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, appealed to the Igbo in the Diaspora to strive to teach their children the language and inculcate in them the cultural values. www.vanguardngr.com/2016/11/gov-obiano-establish-radio-station-broadcast-igbo/ |

But who really wants to see her tips? She should do her thing behind closed doors biko. Its not like her tips will revamp the economy. |

Enugu- The South East Development Initiative, SELDI, has urged the Igbo to take their destiny in their hands by taking the responsibility to develop the South East geopolitical zone. SELDI said that easterners would survive on their own without looking for help from the federal, state and local governments, adding that all they needed to survive was to “think home” by investing at home. One of the facilitators of SELDI, Mr Ikenna Modebelu who spoke in an interview in Enugu against the backdrop of the November 30, 2016 Igbo Summit in Enugu, with the theme “Integrating The Economy of the South East for Sustainable Development,” said that time had come for the South East economies to be integrated to boost investment, trade and development in the region in particular and the country in general. His words, “Regardless of what the underlying causes of slow development in South East may be, south easterners themselves have to take the responsibility for their own progress. “The key challenge is how to engender competitive investment environment that is necessary to bring about poverty reduction or alleviation through private sector- driven inclusive economic growth. “Given the unwillingness or inability of most leaders to practice good governance, the onus falls squarely on accomplished South Eastern leaders, both within and outside the country, to take charge of fostering good governance that would engender the evolution of visionary and transformational leaders in the region. “Indeed, time has come for the integration of our economies to form the largest block that will be second to Lagos in West Africa. This will be the strategy that would foster faster development across every sector in the region.” According to Modebelu, efforts would be made to look at modalities that would raise the consciousness of Igbo during the summit, to generate enthusiasm on the need to also, explore the opportunities that “will aid in the development of the region” as well as “promote the think home, build home development philosophy,” in their towns and villages. www.vanguardngr.com/2016/11/igbo-can-survive-without-government-assistance-seldi/ |

Seun, witches and wizards exist, in Nigeria, the world over. There could even be one or two in your neighbourhood. The supernatural realm is real. Spiritual realities, though, can't always be proved with empirical data. One has to experience it to be in the know. Make no mistakes. God exists. So does the devil. So do their ''assistants''. Angels, arch angels etc in case of God. Demons, fallen angels, witches/wizards etc in case of the devil. |
espn:Strong statement. |

That guy has always acted strangely. I wouldn't put a young boy in his care until I know for sure he isn't gay aka ''driller''. |
Sweet gal. |
Such a pity. Our society is gradually losing it. If we don't watch it, we will sooner than later become as confused as america and europe. |
