I served in Warri north(Tsekiri land), and as a Yoruba guy, whenever they wanna backbite, thinking we are lost, we just laugh and tell them all they've been saying. There is close to 80% similarity in Tsekiri and Yoruba.
Tsekiri: Erasan
Yoruba: Ekaasan (good afternoon)
Tsek: eraowuro
Yor: Ekaaro/ eku owuro(good morning)
Tse: Erale
Yoruba: Ekale(good evening)
Much asay...

50calibre:
I admire your entrepreneurial drive, but this not a viable business in any way, sooner or later it will collapse like a pack of cards.

I've spent considerable amount of time in lagos to know this type of business is never going to get you rich. At best you're just going to be surviving, living from hand to mouth.

Lets start with the location of your business: I haven't been to badagry but I know it's a one of the most rural parts of lagos which means it's population is largely made up of low income folks who won't be willing to pay good buck for a haircut unlike the affluent areas. Then there is the issue of rent.

Now electricity: We all know power supply in Nigeria is almost non-existent, so it's safe to assume you'd be running on a generator. Last heard, petrol was N100/litre. How much will it cost you to run that generator for a day & how much turnover are you going to be making (take into account periodic breakdown/servicing)

Then to the game issue: Nothing attracts the police, gamblers & criminals like that game. Your barber/gaming/laundry shop is going to be attracting trouble like honey attract flies. The parody outfit called Nigerian police are literally going to be feeding off you and your potential laundry customers are going to stay away from your establishment as it will be perceived as a haven for crooks.

How do I know this? I used to be a prolific gambler, the type to travel miles in search of a gambling joint regardless where it's located. I remember on one occasion I was in one of those gaming houses, (A friend suggested that we patronise of them, never knew how dangerous that could be) we did patronise them a couple of times but one day while we were all glued to the TV, the police swooped in & rounded all of us up, no where to run, no where to hide. We were ushered in a straight line into an awaiting van ready to drive us to the police station. I was lucky, because I was a minor then, I wasn't thrown into one of their horrid cells, when work got to my people, they came and bailed me out with cash. This was early 2000s, the PS1 era so I don't know if that's still happening.

My advice to you; be aware of the dangers of running a game business and prepare for it.

- Keep some savings for the police or settle the police beforehand so they'd look away.

- Have few thugs handy to help you when matters get out of hand.

- Don't just rely on your barbing business, branch into other forms of business

- If business is booming, don't place all your eggs in one basket. Save up & open other shops putting your protégés in charge.
I'm surprised this post had likes, Nairaland! Home of different opinion.
OP, Jah bless your business, be creative and innovative bro. The sky is your starting point.

Mr matin.
Its quite laughable and disheartening that your argument is full of sh.itty contradictions...

Just be as blunt and straightforward by saying
"I was brought up seeing myself better than a woman not because it has been proven but because I posses a rod called pe.nis...I want a woman or mayb my wife to listen and respect me not because I earn it but because a person otherwise known as a woman needs to be under my tutelage because she has no pe.nis...

What feminism advocates for is not a barricade of war but a joint consensus where an opinion is chosen not because the person is a custodian of a Rod buh because the idea holds water and the contributor either male or female is a human..

Mr matin..

I put it to u that being a leader is a position earned and nt acquired by the sole reason of being called a man..

Cocandy..
I love ur arguement.

You can choose what to believe or flow with. My take is; Feminism has more negative side to our culture and belief system than positive.

Try and induce some courtesy and minimize your attitude when replying to a counter opinion. After all, everyone is entitle to his or her opinion.

Thank you.

And why should you push your wife around?

Your post is based on the following premises:

1.That women can be pushed around by their hubbies and they have no right to say no

2. Headship as stated in the Bible is a position of authority where he is not accountable to anybody

3. There is a special respect reserved for the husband alone

All these are faulty from a Christian POV.

You can use culture to support your points anyways

I based my premises on the tenets of culture and christianity BUT even looking away from that, when Feminism preaches Equality of Gender and along line, the wife starts to see herself as an entity who feels her own Egoism needs to be rated high OR is superior to the husband.
Answer this
When a woman runs her ministry on the guise of Feminism and begins to see herself as superior and not being submissive to the husband, what wouls you call the cause of this attitude?

A feminist can never make a good wife. Feminism is an anti family propaganda in d west unknown to d masses. The policies tht favour the women over there is d cause of high rate of family dispute and divorce cases. There is something tht keep me wondering, u never hear or seen the wives of all dis law makers having dispute wit their husband or filing for divorce even wen Bill Clinton cheat on his wife. Do u think dis men re d best husband?I don't think so. Ladies, be careful of wat u wnt. Chat out to ma nigeria women.

vivalableue:

Sir,

There's a difference between making or not making someone feel superior and allowing someone to be themselves and teamwork. I don't make him feel superior because he isn't superior. I am not concerned in or not making look superior. You see, his pride is in making us as a family happy. He rests on his laurels, he can stand on his own good works and feel the ego or pride that he needs to feel as a man. If a man needs to put other people down and keep them down in order to feel that he is superior or that he's better or the head... there's a problem. It continues as societies and cultures operate to keep the women in a certain position, a system is created to make young boys and the future men grandiose feelings in their head of authority. In teaching someone that their self worth is dependent on their own works and capacities and not on others, they will continue to strive in becoming superior beings.

When I said that I don't make him appear weak, I mean that I don't demean him for doing a traditionally female role. He is a chef, and his specialty is to feed good tasting and healthy food, if not for anyone why not his own kids? Is that not what every parent should do? I make furniture for enjoyment and am a IT consultant, does he demean me for making a coffee table or networking the home's wiring?

At the end of the day, our partnership worked because we take each other as we are, and encourage each other to be the best person we can be. The pride in myself, my self-confidence, my ability to feel like an equal partner is because I enforce that standard in my life FIRST! He was impressed in that because I believe in treating others how I treat myself. Once he applied that in his own life, the need to push others down in order for him to feel superior vanished. It wasn't overnight, but eventually he saw the benefit that true feminism is, equality!

I laud the way you carry yourself in your home, you are wise, keep it up! . A man does not need to put the rest of the family down so as to feel superior. Once there is a mutual understanding between him and the wife, it would be wrong to make her look or feel inferior.

When EQUALITY is taken for granted or abused from the lady side, on the basis of FEMINISM, then we begin to ask the lady some questions.

Feminism preaches equality, which I agree with, but theory should not be abuse by ladies, because they have gotten a leverage to equate with the husband.
The man is always the head of the family and his should not be rubish for anything.
Family / Re: Will/Can A Feminist Make A Good And Wife Material? by Mattin(m): 7:30am On Sep 30, 2014
Mondisweets: when someone "converts" to a particular religion with the intention of abusing it and hiding behind it just to commit crime, it doesnt make these people part of that religion, you cant claim to be muslim when u use charms to protect yourself from being caught or allow to continue committing crime. Thats exactly what im saying. If a person misuses or abuses feminist ideologies to suit her needs, it doesnt make the person a feminist because they would have lost the whole point of the movement/ideology in itself

You may not call the former Muslim but they did it on a LEVERAGE of Islam, if there were not a basis/leverage for them they wouldn't have got the chance to commit atrocities or misuse or abuse the theory. Likewise, there is a BASIS or LEVERAGE for the woman in question, because you can't just act on your own volition or ideology, something must have given you a foundation for it.

BTW, abuse is inevitable in anything.
