Not every Nigerian in diaspora is well-off as you speculate. I have a relative who emigrated to Dubai three years ago to find greener pasture. Till today baba never get anything to show am.

While millions of Nigerians were in slumber in their various homes, these few ones were across the Atlantic getting trounced. They really had a nightmare.

I laugh when some are writing off themselves from making cool cash freelancing whatever skill they have via Upwork, Fiverr, and co because they are Nigerian. On Fiverr, in the business plan niche, I know a Nigerian lady (a sharp guy though ) who is making a splash. As I am typing this she has 21 orders in queue.

Nigerians are killing it on Fiverr and other freelancing platforms. Do not dilly dally if you have a skill to sell.

Just about everyone is now a content writer. And lots of them are so bad at it that they are giving Nigerian freelance writers bad images on freelancing platforms

I am a student studying nursing in Nigeria. I got a lot of recommendations and commendations when I settled down for this course. I was bred up to be a Medicine and Surgery student. I was advised to choose this because it's professional and not lengthier and can end up with a good job abroad or even here by God's grace. Plus as it stands now, I don't want to waste so much time in school in order to settle down and get a good job and do something for myself.

But when people hear of my course the somehow fumble. I get belittled. I am a guy.... Is there something wrong with studying this or should I change??

A hugely annoying thing about being a first son is that they are terribly conditioned to believe they ought to be perfect. They are brought up with iron fists while others are with kids gloves. Their siblings are conditioned to believe they have nothing to contribute to the household but wait on the first son to do everything.

Why would parents birth children only to wait on the first son to come help raise them. Did he reach an agreement with them to go on procreating on the basis that he will help train them? Emotional manipulation.

I know a family where the father was out of job and the mother is a typical housewife. They had 6 kids and had another on the way. The first son was in his freshman year and he wasn't coping financially well. It surprised me how parents who were finding it difficult to feed six mouths, sponsor their first son through the university were thinking of having another child. Obviously, they were relying on the first child to scale through school whatever way and come train the rest.

The most painful is the siblings being ungrateful to the first son after all the sacrifice he made to train them.

Most times I don't blame first sons who shy away from expectations. They are mostly seen as tools to achieve an end.

My own be say, no go carry this first son thing for head. Especially when you have siblings old enough to take care of themselves. If you do am, you no go dey alive raise your own family. Your parents sef no go help you train your children.
