In this part of the world the woman already has a mindset that the man must be the provider when it comes to union between couples. So when the reverse is the case she finds it tough not to use it against the man. If she earns more than the man then she will provide higher and have more money to spend. The verse was misunderstood. Period! You have to understand it in context.

When Islam first started, Muslims were persecuted but were weak so Allaah asked them to be patient.

Later, Allaah asked the Muslims to defend themselves from persecution and fight a defensive Jihad. Then the Muslim government was established.

Then when the Muslim government was established, Allaah now commanded offensive Jihad.

That's the essence of that verse you quoted. But it has to be understood in context and with conditions.

The aim of Allaah is for the Muslims to preach Islam to the world. But we all know that there are some people whose heart is closed to truth and they will fight the Muslims that preach to people in order to prevent them from preaching and getting the message to other people.

it is now for this purpose that Allaah has said those who fight and attack the Muslims and prevent them from carrying out the preaching and carrying out that Dawah of Islam to other people, the Muslim leader will now organize an army to FIGHT THOSE PARTICULAR ASSAILANTS BACK. So when those particular attackers of Muslims have been eliminated, the Muslims will now be free to carry out the Dawah of Islam and then in that process, "the religion will be all for Allaah".

That's the essence of that verse "fight them until there's no more fitnah and religion is for Allaah"

The "them" in that verse are those who attack and persecute the Muslims and stand in their way of making people hear the message of Islam and practise it. So the Muslim government has to fight them until that obstacle and oppression is removed, then the preaching of Islam will continue and then "religion will be all for Allaah".

Do you understand now?

So Jihad is not to be fought unless the Kuffar themselves are the aggressors who fight against the Muslims to prevent them from preaching Islam.

So when that verse on Jihad was revealed (offensive Jihad), the disbelievers are now divided into three:

1. Those who live under Islamic rule.

2. Those with whom the Muslim government have peace treaties. That is, those who do not fight Muslims and they leave the call of truth alone.

3. Those who are at war with Muslims and fight them and prevent them from preaching Islam.

The first two are NOT to be fought because they are peaceful and not hostile. In fact, fighting them or EVEN MALTREATING THEM is a major sin. Look: (From islamqa.info)

from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased
with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace
of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever kills a
mu‘aahid (a non-Muslim living under Muslim

although its fragrance may be detected from a
distance of forty years.” Narrated by al-
Bukhaari, 2995

What is meant is one who has a deal with the
Muslims, whether that is by paying jizyah or a
peace treaty with the Muslim ruler or a
guarantee of safety from a Muslim.

There is a hadeeth that speaks of that. The
Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of
Allah be upon him) said: “If anyone wrongs a
mu‘aahid, detracts from his rights, burdens him
with more work than he is able to do or takes
something from him without his consent, I will
plead for him (the mu‘aahid) on the Day of
Resurrection.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 3052;
classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi
Dawood. (End quote)

Another one:

“Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and
kindly with those who fought not against you
on account of religion and did not drive you out
of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who
deal with equity”
[al-Mumtahanah 60:8].

Did you see that? It's haram to kill them.

But as for the third category, those are the ones we are to fight because they fought against us to prevent us from carrying our Dawah of islam.

Please, is that not justified?? ??

And even in that fighting category, there are conditions.

1. It has to be carried out on the commands of a legitimate Muslim ruler.

2. Then those who do not participate in the fight should not be fought or killed. So in a legitimate war, Muslims don't kill women or children, old men, monks, we don't cut off trees or destroy buildings. The target are those who are fighting against us.

Now is boko haram not different from this?

- Boko Haram is not a legitimate Muslim government so what right do they have to organize Jihad?

- Even in their Jihad, it is those who Shariah has forbidden to fight that they are fighting and killing. They got to towns of peaceful non Muslims and kill them. Are those not part of those forbidden to fight as stated above?

- They do suicide bombing. Suicide bombing is haram in Islam. How about that? For someone to commit suicide is a major sin in Islam and is not justifiable in any way.

- They are killing Muslims too. What kind of pro-Muslim ideology will kill Muslims? The Prophet said in a hadeeth "Insulting a believer is evil doing and killing him is DISBELIEF".

So how can these people be for true Islam?

They are the Khawarij. You can go and read about them. This is not their start or beginning. They've been existing for long. In fact, the fourth Caliph Ali fought against them and destroyed them when their disorderliness and trouble became too much and they were killing Muslims and innocent people who disagreed with them.

"And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion is all for Allah" really justified boko haram actions.
if not then how did they misunderstood that verse.
