PoliticsRe: Arik Again! Passengers Allege Inhumane Treatment By Arik Air by Mbeki(op): 2:00pm On Dec 21, 2010
The number 1 issue in any organization is leadership, when you have bad  and insensitive leaders, things are bound to crumble.

Take this for instance:

Due to London Heathrow operating at 1/3 capacity today, airport arrival and departure slots have been restricted.
Arik has just now been given approval for one flight into London today, 20 December and will operate W3 102 to Lagos as per schedule.
Regrettably, Arik Air flights W3 105 and W3 106 between Abuja and London have had to be cancelled today.

As our flight tonight is full, only passengers that are already ticketed on tonight’s (20 December) W3 102 will be accepted on this flight. Please allow sufficient time to arrive at the airport.

The adverse weather and disruption is likely to continue for the rest of the week and affect all airlines operating into the UK. Arik is nevertheless trying everything possible to obtain additional slots, even at other London airports, and operate bigger capacity aircraft to help clear the backlog and return to normal operations.

We continue to monitor the situation. As soon as we receive more information from the airport authorities, we will update the website and local Arik offices. Please continue to check our website or call our call centre before travelling to the airport.

All these with No apologies to the customers from the management.

OMO IBO:
what's the point of setting up a business if not to make profit?? - source of fund regardless.
Don't get me wrong, as much as you need to reap the profit from your business; it's pertinent to be wary of killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
If Arik continues to mistreat her customers and owes het staff, at the long run, their will be no profit to reap from.

That's what happens when you have a profit centered business.

ARIK air was established with stolen funds and the curses of people are following them.

They better repent or see d enterprise crumbling.
PoliticsArik Again! Passengers Allege Inhumane Treatment By Arik Air by Mbeki(op): 1:07pm On Dec 21, 2010
London-bound passengers of Arik Air from Lagos aboard flight W3 0101, have criticised the appalling services received from the carrier during their trip on December 12, 2010.

Expressing displeasure at the manner in which the carrier handled the flight, the travelers disclosed that after being cleared by immigration officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) and boarded their aircraft, a letter informing them that the flight would be routed via Abuja was passed across without any prior notice.

“Several passengers, including myself, were most displeased at this diversion without prior notice as we had all expected based on our contract with Arik Air that we were flying direct to London Heathrow,” said Olabopo Philips, a passenger onboard the flight.

Ms Phillips disclosed that the flight which was scheduled to leave Lagos at 11:10am did not depart until 1pm, adding that the explanation given by the carrier was that the aircraft was being prepared.

“We boarded onto an aircraft in which the internal temperature was at least 40 degrees centigrade. It was considerably hotter on the plane than the outside. We were told that once the plane was fully boarded, the doors shut and the engine started, the air-conditioning would be put on.

“This was not to be. Needless to say, this terribly uncomfortable situation led to very loud complaints by a number of passengers. We were later to discover that the delay was due to protests from the cabin crew who were also unaware and it appeared, unwillingly to fly through Abuja,” she said.

On seeing that the situation was degenerating, with the passengers becoming restive, Ms Phillips disclosed that she appealed with the travelers to press home their grievances in a collective and constructive approach by registering their various complaints.

Making matters worse

All the travelers had to sign a drafted petition against the carrier before the flight proceeded to Abuja. On getting to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at about 2:00pm, Ms Phillips said that they were told that the aircraft was to pick 22 passengers, but that only four persons got onboard; a situation which ignited another round of chaos.

“Whilst in Abuja, the head of the cabin crew asked how long it would take to refuel the plane. She was told 40 mintutes and this information was passed on to us,” she said, adding “Correctly assessing our mood due to the earlier experiences, she told the refuelling team to the hearing of the passengers that the conditions on the plane were unbearable and should refuelling exceed 40 minutes, her crew would disembark. In spite of this threat, the layover in Abuja took 2 hours and the flight did not depart Abuja till 4pm.”

Affirming the claims of Ms Phillips, another traveler aboard the flight who simply gave his name as Mr Idowu disclosed that they got to London, Heathrow at about 10:10pm.

“That journey was so annoying and it will interest you to know that we spent more than six hours extra on a trip that was meant to take about five to six hours,” he said.

No comment from Arik

Repeated efforts by our reporter to get the reaction of Arik Air on the development were not successful as the carrier’s media representative disclosed that the airline had no comment on the allegations.

“We have no comment on that,” said Adebanji Ola, media representative for Arik Air in a telephone conversation with NEXT.

Beaf:
It is a really beautiful document if all members will stick to it.

The document contains the solutions to Nigeria's fundamental issues and shows that PDP's issues can be traced directly to some of its members, not the foundations of the party.
The most salient points are:
I agree with you to some extent, but the manifesto to me is too generalized that it seems not to be explicit in the modus operandi of tackling national problems;
I think this is a deliberate attempt to escape being held responsible for inactions.
PoliticsRe: Indian Hemp Now Rampant Among Pupils In Enugu - Ndlea by Mbeki: 10:45am On Dec 21, 2010
That has always been the problem and Nigerian people, tribalism. Have you asked you stupid self what that news headline will be in international media?

Instead of Indian Hemp Now Rampant Among Pupils In Enugu - Ndlea it will be Indian Hemp Now Rampant Among Pupils In Nigeria - Ndlea . and that will include you and whatever clean tribe you think you come from in the eyes of the international community.

Instead of offering solution on how the problem of the Indian hemp in the south-east will be solved, you moronic tribalists with myopic views thought the problem will remain in Enugu alone; have you stopped to reason what will be your fate, or your relatives or friends if they travel to Enugu and were attacked by the alleged hemp smokers, or the hemp smokers come to your region and attack you in the comfort of your home.

Tribalist are always a local champions, their hatred for other people makes it impossible for them to operate outside their cultural domain, as such, their achievements are always limited in life and localized, they end up as a local champion because they can't relate with others.

PoliticsKeke Owners Seek Sack Of Napep Coordinator by Mbeki(op): 5:11pm On Dec 18, 2010
THE crisis rocking the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) got messier yesterday with a faction of the Keke Owners and Riders Association (KORAN) calling for the suspension of the National Coordinator of the agency, Dr. Magnus Kpakol from office.

The faction also called on Senate President, David mark to facilitate the immediate formal release of the Senate Committee report which allegedly indicted the leadership of NAPEP of fraud.
KORAN also absolved itself of any complicity in the alleged N417 million scandal in the agency saying: “KORAN was not involved in the fraud but Trimidan Limited, a phony company owned by our now expelled former president, Alhaji Bashiru Akinola, in connivance with a top official of NAPEP.”

“We urge President Jonathan to immediately suspend the National Coordinator of NAPEP, Dr. Magnus Kpakol from office so that proper investigation can be carried out at NAPEP. Suspending Dr. Kpakol from office, pending the outcome of the investigation, will make it possible for the Judicial Panel of enquiry to be so constituted to have unfettered access to vital documents at NAPEP, which the continued presence of Dr. Kpakol in office will make impossible.”

2011: Saraki, 27 PDP Govs. Adopt Jonathan as Consensus Candidate
News Dec 16, 2010

By Daniel Idonor
IN what can best be described as the outcome of a mock primaries of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Primary election, a formidable pack of 28 governors, led by Chairman, Governors Forum, Dr Bukola Saraki, yesterday signed a resolution endorsing President Goodluck Jonathan, as PDP consensus candidate for next years elections.

The development followed two weeks of sleepless nights driven by highest level politicking, through horse trading and palpable intrigues between the President and the governors on one side, the President and PDP lawmakers, on another side and the President and the PDP other stakeholders on the other side.

From the popular “House 7″ now codenamed “Aso Rock Political shrine” to major state capitals and geo-political zones, the President and his men were able to persuade stakeholders, which eventually resulted in the endorsment.

Vanguard was told that the action of the governors is an indication of the series of similar exercise to unfold in the coming weeks, which might make the touted primaries unnecessary, in the first place.

Besides the series of both local and foreign engagements which were either moved forward or put-off, President Goodluck Jonathan had been seen more often attending several political meetings with either the governors or other stakeholders of the PDP.

PoliticsObama Given 12 Stitches After A Basketball Game by Mbeki(op): 7:16pm On Nov 28, 2010
US President Barack Obama has been given 12 stitches after he was hit in the lip during a basketball game.

Mr Obama was inadvertently struck by someone's elbow during the game on Friday morning, the White House said.

The US president was treated in the doctor's office of the White House following the game at Fort McNair, in Washington DC.

Later, Mr Obama was seen at the White House holding what appeared to be an ice pack to his lip.

"After being inadvertently hit with an opposing player's elbow in the lip , the president received 12 stitches today, administered by the White House Medical Unit," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said in a statement.

Mr Obama was given a local anaesthetic while receiving the stitches, he added.

"The medical unit that treated Obama used a smaller filament than typically used, which increases the number of stitches but makes a tighter stitch and results in a smaller scar," added Mr Gibbs.
President Obama nursing his injury Mr Obama was seen nursing his injury through a window at the White House

Mr Obama was playing basketball with his personal aide Reggie Love - who played basketball for Duke University - and other members of his family on what is the thanksgiving holiday in United States.

He was photographed in a grey T-shirt and jogging bottoms leaving the basketball facility, holding his bottom lip.

A few hours later, reporters who had gathered on the White House driveway for the arrival of the Christmas Tree saw the president in an upstairs window, pressing what appeared to be a cold compress against his mouth.

The president has been a long time player of the sport, and has even been seen to take to the court with Cabinet members.
