No it's not, just like Jacob in the bible didn't amount to anything till his name was changed to Isreal. The colonial masters gives name to their territory then as mockery of their state of existence then.

What the country need are issue based re-branding; one is to change the name "NIGERIA" the name means something but makes no sense, or give any hope or sense of belonging.

The nation should take a good name for herself.

The family of the lady don't need to wait for justice, cause it's scarce in Nigeria, they should just prepare a lethal injection, bribe the bribe-able prison

warder and inject the bastard to death.

imagine a lady slaving to take care of the bastard and he has the gut to be choosy on what and what not should be given to him.

I blame the lady, cos it seems she's the type that'll do anything to have a man.

such desperate chics are everywhere.

IBB should forget politics, because he failed woefully as a leader.

He should openly address the public of his resignation from politics , repent and float a foundation that will coach the up coming generation on good
leadership ideals so that they won't repeat the mistake he made.

But politically? he is DEAD, those urging him to jump to another party are sycophants who wants to benefit from the campaign expenses.

Shame!!!!!
In case you don't know, Aso Rock has a giant generator facility the far eastern end of the villa, so that the noise won't disturb them in the main building, in 2010 budget, N52,000,000 was set aside for generator fuel. it's no longer a shame to them, it's only in Nigeria that people includes generator house in their building plans.

The solution to Nigeria is Confederal System of Government,

Each State, CONTROL YOUR RESOURCES and pay 10% Tax to the Federal Government. Abuja wont be enticing
Each state, takes care of its electricity, Educational institutions and research centers
Each State, Takes care of all the road networks without mentioning FEDERAL ROADS.
Each State has its Police Departments.
Each State, has its Fire service

Federal Government being an auditor
The Federal has a National Police
Federal takes care of national security
Federal Government takes care of economy ans basic blueprints
Federal Monitors the State and prosecutes

The moment each state controls his resources and develops its State. ABUJA wont be enticing
it's not as if they don't know, but greed won't allow them to adopt that system, until that oil in the Niger delta dries up, which will happen in the

next 25 year according to DPR findings, then you'll see what will happen. but so long as the oil are there, looting continua!

The available power in Yola as of present have been diverted to serve Atiku's business interest, He has his nursery, primary, secondary school and ABTI university along the Yola western bye-pass at both side of the road, a stretch of about half a kilometer, along the same road is Atiku's quarters for his staff, the Atiku club on the other side, printing press, and ICT centre. There are constant power supply within this territory while the rest of Yola gropes in darkness with rationed supply here and there.

It was on AIT, I saw the Adamawa State Governor and the Cameroun Foreign Affairs minister delivering speeches during the event.

For those that live or have been to Yola Adamawa State, you'll agree that electricity is a Luxury there, despite having one of the hottest climate that can be harnessed into solar power supply. It's such a shame to our government.

But nontheless, it is a welcome development, even if Burundi in far away east Africa can solve the power problem, please let them come fast, so that we won't spend the rest of our lives in darkness, generator noises and CO4 pollution, Nigeria government have only one agenda! LUNATIC LOOTING

The name Nigeria should be changed from what Lord Lugard's mistress gave the territory since inception; other African countries did that.
Gold Coast- Ghana
Upper Volta-Burkina Faso.
Nigeria was formerly called slave coast before the Lord Lugard mistress renamed it Nigeria.

Other names that needs immediate change.

Lagos (Lagoon in Portuguese) Should be named EKO

Escravos (Slave) should be renamed Freedom city

Port Harcourt should be renamed Port Jaja

Nigeria should be deleted and befitting name should be used, until then, the country is still not independent.

PoliticsThe Spirit Of Naija by Mbeki(op): 7:58pm On Nov 25, 2010
A nice article I stumbled upon on 234next.com

Once upon a time, there was an epithet, a swear word, that we used whenever the system, structure, or leaders let us down.

That epithet was ‘Naija’. It was not said with pursed lips, no. We would open our mouths wide as if we were about to shout; we would pull our lips back and bare our upper teeth and incisors, and at the same time clench our jaws on either side of our face.

Our heads would reinforce the grimace on our faces as we shake them back and forth, angled from left to right, at a measured pace, the way you imagine a professor shaking his head with pity at one of his less than able students. Our eyes would convey a choice of emotions from resignation to disgust, never anger. And our tongues would draw out the letters and syllables: Naaaayyyyiiijaaaa! Often, the word would be followed for emphasis with “ah! ah! Only in Nigeria!!!” Naija used to flag all that was wrong and dysfunctional about our nation. It was an abuse that we would fling into the cosmos, hoping that somehow it would target the heartless workers and leaders who were spoiling our beautiful country and depriving us of the standard of services and infrastructure that we deserved as the Giant of Africa. Sometimes, we would follow it with supplications directed at NEPA (Electric Authority) or to whoever the sitting head of government was, using their nicknames of course. “Baba!!! Maradona!! Abacha!!!! Umaru!!!! Ah! Ah! Whyyyyyyyhuh?? For how long will this continue huh??” That is my recollection of how we used that term.

Naija has since reinvented itself into a flag-bearer for all that is hip and cool about Nigerians. It is successfully employed for branding targeted at the youth consumer market. Naija is the people, not the place. It has not replaced Nigeria.

It has renamed Nigerians under the age of 40.

These are people who don’t know a Nigeria without chronic system failures. They haven’t experienced the trauma of war or austerity measures.

They haven’t lived the sudden change in living standards from the onset of oil wealth, or the sudden and sustained decline in our exchange rate from 1 naira to 1 pound in the 1970s to today’s 250 naira to 1 pound. They haven’t been brought up in institutions or an environment supporting and nurturing their skills and talents. Too many have had to fend off lecherous lecturers and predatory professors, paying for their grades with their bodies or their money. They don’t remember a time when it hasn’t been ‘dog eat dog’, survival of the fittest.

For them, there is little correlation between education and wealth, hard work and success. All of that is theory, aka ‘grammar’. What they live is reality. The reality of Naija! where what you imagine yourself to be is what you can become. How seductive! Forget Nigeria. That artificial construct created by the imperialists and populated by professionals and wannabe professionals.

Those guys who don’t make any money! They don’t get any respect! Study for years to get a qualification, struggle to get a career job, then live just above the poverty line while the uneducated are getting richer every day from business, trading and contracts! Forget the so-called problems and divisions of Nigeria - our federal character. They don’t care! They are Naija! Whoever is on the journey with them is their brother. Whoever helps, nurtures and protects them is their sister, mother or wife. They don’t live with family or depend on family anyway. They go away to ‘school’ or to the city and they are on their own. They don’t even aspire to live in Nigeria.

Home can be anywhere; it is the spirit that is Naija!!! They are indomitable, energetic, creative, at home anywhere. They are not arrogant but proud, not humble but confident. They live life. They are Naija! They know it is a jungle out there. They know it isn’t safe. They thrive in the uncertainty and risk. Yet they also know that everything that they need is out there and that no-one is going to bring it to them. They have to venture out, spears at the ready, with comrades at their back, and faith in their hearts to find what they need and bring the prize home.

A well-travelled road

The median age of our population is only 19. So, Naija is our future. If we project the spirit of Naija 30 years into the future, where would it logically and organically take us? Frankly I don’t know. Using the music industry as an example, at first the need to produce quality CDs and music videos led to sound studios opening up, skill development in directing and film production; but since the initial surge aren’t most of our well-produced music videos filmed elsewhere, mostly in South Africa? Where do most of the technical crew for concerts and other shows come from? Even in publishing, where there has been a renaissance, where are our publishers printing most of their books? In advertising, where are most of the campaigns being developed and managed from?

Naija is pride in ourselves. Naija is having 15-minutes of fame and a fan base. But is Naija nation-building? Can Naija take us anywhere we would want to go as a nation?

And, lastly, is Naija a symptom of 50 dysfunctional years of independence or a rebellion against it?

Lewis Carroll, the author of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ said: “if you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there”.

How comfortable are we going down this road with no destination in mind? We don’t know where it will lead us and what we will be faced with. I very much doubt that Naija will build Nigeria, but does Nigeria have anything to offer Naija to get their energy on board our own journey to development? It is another dilemma!

Whatever the case may be, the truth is that PDP as a party is dying gradually. Atiku is strong political juggernaut and prostitute, who will deploy any possible means to win GEJ, but we should not down play the incumbency factor; GEJ will use this to emerge again as the president either outside PDP or even as an independent candidate.

Atiku emerges consensus candidate of the north

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar was a few minutes ago named as the consensus candidate of the north by the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF).
Mr Atiku beat three other presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to clinch the ticket. They are former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, immediate past National Security Adviser, Aliyu Gusau and the governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki. This endorsement by the NPLF means Mr Atiku will now slug it out with President Goodluck Jonathan for the party's ticket at the primaries, which may hold late December or January next year.

Bello Sabo Abdulkadir, Secretary of the committee set up by the NPLF to pick the candidate announced Mr Atiku's choice at a press conference in Abuja, but did not disclose the criteria used in picking the former vice president.
He merely said that the committee embarked on bringing out a consensus candidate among the aspirants in view of the fact that President Goodluck Jonathan declared his intention to contest the election.
But in a two-page statement given to journalists immediately after the briefing, the NPLF said that it was humbled by the faith of the four aspirants.

The statement signed by the forum's chairman, Adamu Ciroma and Mr Abdulkadir, also said that it has been reassured by all the aspirants that they will work together."We are glad and proud that we have finally arrived at this outcome after several weeks of hard work and wide consultations. We are proud because of the unusual honour and extraordinary privilege given us by the four gentlemen who placed their political destinies in our hands, We are humbled by the strength of their faith. We appreciate their humility and cooperation. We have been reassured by all of them that they will work together to enable Atiku Abubakar clinch their party's ticket in the presidential primaries."

The NPLF thanked all Nigerians, supporters and critics alike for sharing their views over the past week.

ask people who know more than you do before u jump into conclusions, Nobel invented dynamite to blow rocks in other to help his father quarry industry until people started using it in warfare, and he died because he couldnt watch this happen(died around 40 after being sick for a long time)
You got it wrong man, Nobel's father was an arms dealer and the son continued after him, together, they supplied arms to Russians during the Crimean war (1853-1856, Charge of the Light Brigade) was heating up and Russia was purchasing large quantities of naval mines to keep the British at bay.

He later acquired AB Bofors in Karlskoga, Sweden, one of the largest Arms manufacturer in the world in his last year on earth.
this is a quote from Albert Einstein
"In 1945 Albert Einstein in a speech following the use of the atomic bombs on Japan said "Alfred Nobel invented an explosive more powerful than any then known--an exceedingly effective means of destruction. To atone for this 'accomplishment' and to relieve his conscience, he instituted his award for the promotion of peace." It is not at all clear that Nobel actually felt this way, and it may be that Nobel really developed arms technology because the opportunity was there and supported his work."

If you're still doubting, please research further!

How can a man who owned one of the largest arms manufacturing industry in the world be talking of awarding others peace prize. To me the Nobel Prize is not worth having or celebrating.
The whites has succeeded in brainwashing  the blacks to believe anything they offer is the best.
Africans should stop accepting the Nobel Peace prize because Alfred Nobel owned AB Bofors one of the largest arms manufacturing firm in the world till his death, he should not be talking of peace in one hand while selling arms to destroy innocent souls with the other.

For those that don't understand how Nigeria government works, where were the government when the entertainment industry was evolving, they sat there till when they saw that it's booming, to establish a censor board, that couldn't censor productions properly or avert piracy, no property rights to the artiste, high cost of production materials and all that
Don't celebrate the $200 million yet, they promised the textile industry before, including the farmers, those money will never be accessible by those who needed it, if you want to confirm, ask NAPEP Magnus Kpakol if government is not budgeting money for the NAPEP project.
What Jonathan need to do is to make JUST ELECTRICITY available, and see the entertainment industry quadruple in performance and revenue generation.

That money is just lip service, if you think it will be accessible by those you need it; you are wrong, because it won't.

Beside, SilverBird gala night was not the right place to make such an announcement, he should have called a meeting of the stakeholders in the entertainment industry if he's really serious about it.
