violent:you will be surprised to find out how popular the thing that was sold to him is getting among the masses. very soon it will be a decriminalized commodity. |
chic2pimp:it has been coached out of him.very painful but true. it is the same case with Mikel Obi. If you ever watched him in 05 at that youth cup in Holland, you will not believe how much harm Mourinho did to the boy. The destruction is almost clinical. Maybe one day, Fergie will be able to shed light on what exactly he was trying to achieve with Anderson. Also, i think the lad is a bit distracted off the field.it is not easy. |
coogar:that was how many years ago? so he is no longer pacy(if he ever was). so why list it among his qualities? it is not like a cv where you include career history.i am asking about what he brings to the table now. |
Skii:Is this some funny joke? that man is in a class all by himself. |
coogar:Anderson dribble? pacy? I give up. Anyone can look good on youtube, even Jermaine Jenas. |
^^ i will watch that clip when i get out of here. I will readily pay to watch Berba play in the park on a sunday morning. He would be allowed to take gays at intervals as he wishes. His ability on the ball is mesmerizing. |
coogar:you are such a funny guy. did you keep a straight face while typing this? |
coogar:My apologies. i just read the quote you posted. |
Never believe in it and never will. A contraption created for societies where there is absence of ubuntu. |
coogar:He did not say that.at least in the reports i read all he did was ay that he was one of those they were looking at. |
coogar:i have not mentioned goal scoring as a paramount yardstick,so i am not knocking him for that.although it would have helped his cause. kindly state a few qualities of Anderson that made you arrive at the bold comment above. |
coogar:i think it is the other way round. he was on the short list and fergie spoke to VDS about him, the same way he spoke to Forlan and Ronaldo about De Gea. the issue of who is at the top of the list is pure media speculation. everyone on that shortlist has been flavour of the month with the media at one point of the the transfer specualtion or the other. |
RuuDie:very depressing indeed. with the midfield we have in the youth team what do we need Rodwell for? if he can't get into the everton 1st 11 on a permanent basis how will he get into ours? |
coogar:is Anderson your definition of class? he stepped up his game but that level is hugely inadequate for a united regular. as a squad player, fine. the problem is that fergie says that Anderson is the sort of player who needs to be playing regularly to be at his best. unfortunately, i doubt we have the space in the middle for him to do that presently. his apprentice can be done elsewhere. that midfield needs proven talent, now. |
rene meulensteen(first team coach) told dutch radio vds personally told fergie he wants stekelenburg to replace him. meulensteen: Quote "Stekelenburg is indeed a keeper who is at the top of our wanted list," Meulensteen is reported to have told Dutch radio. "We naturally talk a lot among ourselves about who should replace Van der Sar. Alex Ferguson has spoken about Stekelenburg with Edwin, and that does not seem strange to me at all." still a rumour? Haba!! this deduction is too far fetched. Fergie spoke to VDS because he knows Stekelenburg from close quarters.VDS put in a good word because he is a good keeper. Fergie cannot speak to VDS about Pepe Reina or De Gea because he does not know anything about those. How this translates to prefering Stekelenburg is a bit too far fetched. The radio folks were just spinning, nothing short ofthat. |
lucabrasi:i don't even know where to start with this quote. unfortunately,i am unable to comment extensively on this thread |
what do you expect the govt to do if these were the only willing buyers? |
coogar:kindly list 4 of these mistakes after mistakes. thank you |
coogar:How does the insult in bold validate your argument? Are you unable to discuss and argue like an adult? Look, i did not tell you that this was VDS best season.these are my arguments; 1. He has his weak points like every top keeper in the world. 2. In the final season of his career at the age of 40 he was still easily among the 5 best keepers in Europe. 3. You can count his howlers this season on one hand and he won us more points than he lost us (i can only think of one in the league). 4. if any one was culpable for those two goals you refer to in the final, look no further than Patrice Evra who has talked the talk this season but being found wanting on it.He was AWOL at critical moments in those attacks that lead to the goals in question. 5. VDS had set such high standard that i can understand your dissapointment but lashing out at him in that manner is myopic in my view. 6. the claim about stekelenburg is a rumour. There is no direct quote from VDS on that.i challenge you to produce it. No one knows the importance of VDS replacement like Fergie.whoever he chooses is a gamble.i hope it works out. |
coogar:Very silly assumption in bold. I wish you knew |
Government ordained, legeslation backed, get rich quick scam for a privileged few. |
unlike the Sente, at least this house seems independent for now. i like how they told the PDP leadership where to stick stick there zoning abracada. they should stick it where the sun doesn't shine. |
coogar:I never understand this argument (in bold).if that was the case how did they end up coaching out every bit of creativity in the poor lad?His shooting is criminal for a professional, his eye for a pass is nothing exceptional,he is the most one legged footballer i have seen in a long time. how exactly is he Scholes replacement. On the second bold part, you sound horribly myopic. He had to go because he had his mind made up and it had to end someday. Based on this seasons performance VDS was one of the best keepers in the world never mind EPL. He had a weakness,so what? who does not?telling me Valdes is faultless?the truth is we did not have the opportunity to expose valdes. VDS going because he had the aforementioned weaknesses is a bit of a joke. De Gea will come and make mistakes, anyone will. what we need is a top class keeper that earns us point while not costing us points (like Gomez). VDS had his weakness but he was still one of the best till the end. |
montelik:i see sense in keeping Owen, he will be used sparingly and it is expected that when used he can and will deliver.Diouf is not up to scratch, for all it is worth Wellbeck still has some way to go.Macheda will not come back to United.he will simply return from Samp as his contract dictates but he will be out before pre season ends.he has no future iin the club.He was woeful at Samp and that nailed his case. the problem with gettig a striker who can play one up is that you can't get one who is good enough for that role to sit on the bench until such a situation arises. you just can't have enough players for all scenarions.not even barca have that. the sticking point at the moment is what fergie does about Berba. That is a critical matter.the problem is that Fergie does not trust him enough (with good reason), Berba thrives on trust,he does not readily fit into the system that has been found to work but the fact is that he is a plan B worth having.how often will that plan B be needed, i don't know. |
^^^ everyday, i wake up hoping it is a bad dream. 18 million for an england internation with all there technical limitations. is this how we want to compete with barca? you can do so much more with 18 million in the continent. forget young and break the bank for Modric. make Levy an offer he can't refuse. |
Giggs is not holding anyone back. the rest of the midlfield are just not good enough. I wil never be convinced about Anderson.in my view,he will not make at united.his game has been so altered that he can't be good enough in the new role and it is almost too late to revert back (read Mikel Obi). Gibson,Obertan.who exactly is Giggs holding back? if SAF buys two world class midlfielders,Giggs will play start less than 15 games this new season and it will not be a massive disappointment. i see no reason why SAF should not buy 2 world class midfielders this season. A creative midflieder and someone to bench carrick. Gibson on his way to Sunderland or Wolves. Obertan out on loan. Aanderson to the gym,so he can lose some weight around his back side.Charlie Adam almost looks fitter than him and that is no compliment. |
Its amazing how people can deduce completely different things from looking at the same scenario. We arent going to agree on this ( although, I agree with your part about CQ) Ive always felt baba needs a good strong number two and not the slaphead yes man in shortnika sitting next to him.
i could punch phelan's sour face all day.The man is the most nepotic appointment Fergie has ever made. It is similar to the Pat Rice situation at Emirates. Assistants who just kiss their bosses a ss and bring absolutely nothing to the table. Considering SAF personality, he needs a no. 2 who is not just strong in personality but has a respected and deep well of tactical nous. Fergie might be strong headed but he is wise enough to accomodate a man who brings deep expertise and continental flavour. Phelan is completely useless. I assume SAF brought him in cos he assumed he will be leaving soon and did not want another CQ kind of person who will be a potential successor. fortunately SAF has stayed longer than even he himself imagined and we are stuck with that inept soul called Phelan. |
After reading the recently passed FOI bill, I had to dig up this thread. The bill will be a useless document if our journalists don't step up their game. For now there's a lot to be afraid of. Although I Must say I'm glad we have a few good journalists and investigative reporters especially at Olojede's 234next, we definitely need more, else these politicians and public servants will continue to eat our lunch while pissing in our mouths. Our people need to be better informed. Smart, dedicated, fair and professional journalism is key.
unfortunately, NEXT will soon be extinct. |
this thread is giving me a headache. |

• Six Premier League players involved in Nigeria's 4-1 win • Argentina get penalty in the eighth of five added minutes Share 40 Staff and agencies The Guardian, Saturday 4 June 2011 Article history Nigeria's Uche Ikechukwu is challenged by Argentina's Insúa Emiliano in a match that is being investigated by Fifa. Photograph: Sunday Alamba/AP A match between Nigeria and Argentina is being investigated by Fifa after unusual betting patterns suggested it had been targeted by match-fixers. "Fifa can confirm that this match between Nigeria and Argentina was one that we had an active interest in and forms part of a wider Fifa investigation," a spokesman for the world governing body told the Daily Telegraph. Concerns were raised about betting patterns during Wednesday's game, which was won 4-1 by Nigeria in Abuja, specifically before the final goal was scored. With Nigeria 4-o ahead there was a huge swing on some in-play markets which appeared to anticipate a fifth goal. Five minutes of stoppage time were awarded but play continued beyond that and the referee awarded a 98th-minute penalty to Argentina for handball. Replays suggest the penalty was awarded after the ball bounced up off the lower leg of a Nigeria defender. The referee indicated that he adjudged the ball to have struck a hand. Mauro Boselli scored from the spot. "There had been some crazy moves on the in-running market early in the game," Matthew Benham of SmartOdds, an online betting firm, said. "With 86 minutes played the odds for 4.50 [a fifth goal to be scored] were absolutely insane. The market was effectively saying it was odds against that there would be no more goals. It is hard to get an exact figure for how much would have been bet to force that kind of swing but we are certainly talking hundreds of thousands, possibly more than £1,000,000." Six players from Premier League clubs were involved in the fixture an understrength Argentina were captained by Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta. Chelsea's Mikel John Obi and Everton's Victor Anichebe were also part of the Nigeria squad. Boselli (Wigan Athletic), Mauro Formica (Blackburn Rovers) and Damián Martínez (Arsenal) were in the Argentina squad. No players are thought to be under suspicion. Fifa Fifa confirmed that it "will be working closely with colleagues at the Fifa Early Warning System" to see the unusual fluctuations in betting patterns and how they tally with its wider investigation. "Fifa is receiving lots of information and co-operation across Europe, Asia, Africa and South and Central America, and as an organisation we are committed to tackling this problem in the most vigorous way possible," a spokesman said. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jun/04/nigeria-argentina-fifa-betting-patterns |
