Arik won't pay staff salary but they can hire this malnourished girl for branding?
Nigerian businesses and their priorities.
the only branding Arik needs is to sort out its staff welfare and improve services.
you don't need this starving girl with hideous hair for that.

it depends on a lot of things;

i love to hear Wana's husky natural voice. No pretense whatsoever and her laughter fits her size.huge and refreshing laughter.she is an even better writer.the reason i listen to Inspiration FM
listening to Olisa and Oreka handing over to Toolz is always a treat.the fun is so spontaneous and witty.the same thing happens when Toolz is handing over to Gbemi.I might not be a big fan of some of the garrage music they play but the interaction between these four OAPs is always a treat.the reason why i listen to BEAT99.9 FM
I can relate to the musci they play and Chico is my man.the reason why l live and listen to Classic FM
the immaturity and pretence on Rhythm and CoolFM are not even worth commenting on.the fakeness is cringe worthy.

In saner climes, any medical practitioner who abandons his duty post for whatever reason that results in death or grievous harm to patients will have his medical license permanently revoked. He will be sued by his patients for all his assets.

That is how serious they they take medical practise. Nigerians are very docile folks. If we start to do the above in Nigeria, the shenanigans of doctors will stop!!

Ystranger:
I really dont see the big deal here. There is nothing gestapo-ish about this. The problem we have in Nigeria is that ordinary citizens, including supposedly educated illiterates like Oyb and El-Rufai, do not understand the real meaning of democracy. They assume you can say whatever and do whatever and get a way with whatever. NO! I have news for you, it aint so. The US, UK and other advanced countries are the most policed states in the world, utilizing the power of the Police and other non-uniformed security agencies ( FBI, MI-6 and even Google, IP addresses and Face-book) to closely monitor their citizens so as to prevent unnecessary break-down of Law and order. El-Rufai's intent is very clear, to make the state un-governable for GEJ. And it would be stupiddddddd of GEJ and the SSS to allow him roam the plains of Nigeria freely. They've done what is right and I am glad they acted fast this time around, before we start losing lives like we always do in situations like this.

His article is ridden with inflammatory words, with the intent to incite and cause public chaos.

Any government worth its salt would do whatever is necessary to keep him quiet. Next time, he would be more careful with what he writes. Now he knows there is a new Sheriff in town, and the Sheriff isnt going to be tolerate any nonsense from him and his ilk.

They are not happy with the election result? Let them go to court, quietly and jejely. Their dissatisfaction with the election result is no excuse for them to heat up the polity. If push comes to shove, they will be the first to elope via BA, leaving innocent people to die unsung. We cant afford this 'kain' behavior from our 'elites' any longer. The memory of his unpatriotic behavior during the SNG group is still very fresh in our mind; after all, he was the brain behind the group that created a larger than life image of Turai, causing the public to have negative impression of Turai, when in reality, Turai, like the rest of us, is just a victim of a failed and bastardized system.

This is democracy guys. Freedom isnt free; it requires each and every one of us to exercise restraints in how we talk and act in public. Do NOT rock the boat. If you do,you will be held accountable.
I an no fan f El-Rufai and never will be but i find your comments dreadful.
What restraint has El-Rufai failed to show in this article?
The man argued with figures that were gotten from the documents that are in the public domain.
The kind of behaviour we cannot accept from the elite is the raping of our resources and our sensibilities by those of them in power. The kind of behaviour we cannot accept is the criminality that is called an amnesty program which is nothing but a money making machine for a few of the elite and their thugs to the detriment of the poor masses in the Niger delta.
The kind of behaviour is the billions that have been voted for road rehabilitation in this country but have found its way into the pockets of men and women devid of integrity and conscience while 100s of poor people have died along the roads of lokoja,markudi-enugu,East-West road,benin-ore and lagos- ibadan expressways, while the ministers directly responsible for these dead traps have been awarded national honours.
The 'kain' behaviour from our elite that we can no longer accept is a security aparatus that is unable to protect us while bombs are going off like christmas bangers and killing mostly the poor and defenseless while the govt and its ecurity agencies look inept, clueless and confused while probably looking for a political solution that will preserve the status quo.
Any govt worth its salt will not do whatever is necessary to keep a citizen quiet for arguing a view. The govts of societies you say are heavily policed make no attempt to keep its citizens quiet not even foreigners.unless you consider North Korea and Mynmarr govts worth its salt.
i find it ironic that you criticize SNG.they were out on the streets when GEJ and his co travellers were sitting on their fat bums and were waiting for another lucky break.
How many Nigerians who dare to speak their mind can the SSS arrest and detain? Are their no more pressing tasks for the security aparatus?Bombs are still going off as we speak.

Gbawe:
Not proven at all. The entire world , for example, saw the criminality of the PDP during the Ekiti rerun in 2009. Given what you saw, do you think Oni beat Fayemi? No other result would have been fair or tenable other than the declaration of victory for Fayemi. Katsina-Alu was also alleged to have 'delivered' a win for Yar Adua when Buhari petitioned the court against the 2007 victory of our former President so what is your point ?

Abeg let us not go around in circles or drift from the topic under discussion. The point is that OGD directly instigated legislative gangaterism to get his N100 billion retirement fund bond. He has not even pretended , since the first day of his second term, to lead Ogun State progressively at all. With such consistently desperate behaviour not many will conclude that such a man will concede state asset transparently and without cynical opportunism influencing his deeds. No Lawyer will go to court arguing in favour of giving a serial burglar the benefit of the doubt because he is "incapable of breaking into a house".
I have always told people who care to listen that there is no single one of these newspaper editors or columnists that is non-aligned! So I'm not surprised about this news on Reuben abati.

Let me run down memory lane for you guys. Right from the time of Dele Giwa, frontline editors and journalists in general have been bought. Dele Giwa himself was paid to step down a story and he did but later demanded more money and was turning it to a blackmail and he died. A couple of his firends like Segun Osoba (His share of the largesse from IBB was useful during his first coming as Governor of Ogun State), Kayode Soyinka, Yemi Ogunbiyi, Sam Pemu Amuka (Publisher of the Vanguard, IBB own shares in Vanguard), Stanley Macebuh, Patrick Dele-Cole, Imeh Umanah, Alex Akinyele (rewarded as a minister), Tony Momoh (IBB gave him the funds to start Channels TV), Doyin Abiola, Felix Adenaike, Banji Kuroloja, Dan Agbese, Yakubu Mohammed, Soji Akinrinnade, Raymond Ekpu etc were rewarded in several ways by IBB. They all knew why Dele Giwa died and have refused to speak.

That is why I don't take many of them serious. Just recently, about one year ago, junior editors in the punch accused their seniors of stepping down damaging stories on Tinubu in the mid of the crisis between Tinubu and Fashola. Some Senior editors lost their job in the process.

It has always been like this. Most of these folks seek recognition and the opportunity to take their own share of the national cake. May God help us!
a few points.
you meant John Momoh not Tony Momoh.
some of these IBB largesse are doubtful, they make give him a larger than life image that the old man does not deserve and ain't real.
thirdly whlie i agree with the crux of your argument about alignment of journalists, it is a universal matter as bad as it seems.the problem of our own journalists is that they fall like a pack of card at the slightest inducement,be it money or seemingly inconsequential positions.
what makes it worse is that they have so much guts that their is nothing like shame in their books.they mess up and just carry on like nothing happened.
Segun Adeniyi is now editorial board chairman of thisday and Azu is editor in chief of some paper.
why should Mohammed Abacha not aspire to be governor?
we complain about our politicians having no ideology, neither do our journalists.
At least the politicians do not pretend about it.

Adieu Ruben Abati sad sad sad

There is no doubt that Abati is a force to recon with in the sphere of intellectual and engaging journalism in Nigeria, however if what i have read here is true, Ruben had better write his last commendable colum before he enters the instiution called Aso-Villa.

Any sensible Nigerian, devoid of ethnic and religious sentimentalism will know now that Goodluck does not have a Vision, plan or clue of what being the president of the most populous black nation should be doing.

He has consistently shown incompetence and lack of priority among other attributes that a president should never be seen to posses.

So if Ruben decides to be the megaphone precipitate image maker of such a president, all i can say it IT IS FINISHED! Nigerians should prepare for very intresting scandals ahead.

Its is quit disturbing that we are sailing without a compass yet we can afford more and more liqour on Board shocked shocked shocked

Ruben Abati if this is true, you fall my hand bros, Adieu 'Brand Ruben Abati'!!!
i am still trying to get my head around what vision and mission GEJ unfolds to these people in private that makes them join his team that he fails to unfold in public.
sane men and women can see that this is a train heading no where, yet men and women who claim to know better are getting on it.
May God give us long life to eat the humble pie.

Get me right. I have not said I have a problem with him accepting the job. Spokesperson is a job reserved majorly for journalists and a journalist clinching one, to me, is not out of order. But the difference between Segun and Abati is, even prior to this becoming public knowledge, Abati had appeared compromised but still hiding the guise of public commentator. Add to that the Abuja land gate. But for Segun, nothing suggested he was doing some people's bidding before taking up the job. He was still his known self until he took up that job - a job you can't go against the interest, at least in public, of your principal.
banish your political aspirations.

all these cheap critics i wonder if they even set any hurdle for the powers that be before accepting all these positions.
How about asking for a piece of legislation or policy to be implemented before you accept the poisioned chalice?
maybe something like get PIB through and i accept to be your minister of finance or make tangible moves to trim the size of govt and i accept to be your spokesman.
ask for something tangible that will affect the common man and be a response to your one of your numerous weekly rantings.

i guess all they do is say'let me pray about it,your excellency'.then the next morning to accept and sound like it was such a difficult decision.

Abati is the most overrated pundit in Nigeria(I have a friend that must now hear this from me; he likes Abati so much that he underwent few weeks coaching under him when we were in school
The only thing I read from him are those comical satires just to have a good laugh. I stopped taking him seriously even before the Abuja land saga. I realized he is no longer as fire-spitting as he used to be some 5, 7 years ago.

To nail my suspicion about his compromise, I wondered why a public pundit will do a 10 series articles on a presidential candidate when he's not his official media person, if he was not paid to do that. He also played an active role in the launching of Jonathan's Facebook book. So this is why I'll not be surprised if he is named GEJ's media person. His pen language has been poiting to that since.
No make me vex this morning o.
how is he any worse than Segun Adeniyi your man?
congrats Dr. Abati.i do not hold anyone in the media in high esteem,so i do not begrudge you your appointment.

better don't come back after four years to write any silly book like Segun Adeniyi.just go,sell your conscience and enjoy the privileges quietly.don't try to insult our intelligence afterwards.
