He actually tried to call Siasia and apologise in person but he had no airtime on his phone that weekend. |
AjanleKoko:dropped you a line once or twice. you seem very busy i guess. howz your end? |
Jarus:i fail to understand what you mean by the bold part. the place is still filled with all sort of silly ethnic threads. What exactly have these authorities done, that you are applauding? The 'report to moderator' button is it not valid? i have used it sensibly repeatedly but nothing seems to happen. With due respect to all hard working mods,i often wonder if this site runs on auto-pilot. |
AjanleKoko:why is this unlikely? me thinks this is one major way of decongesting the roads in lagos. driving in lagos is not a luxury. if there are a lot of buses (and well maintained), i will think that lots of people will leave their cars at home during the week. |
Welcome back. Awaiting an apology for those whose calls you refused to pick during your days of AWOL ![]() On a more serious note, if Aisha2 has resigned (i don't blame her), why is a replacement not being appointed as this section can't survive with just one mod. secondly besides cleaning up threads, what exactly is being done to permanently punish these persistent tribal lords? The level of trolling is not only irritating, it has become tiring. If permanent action is not taken against these ethnic jingoists, this problem will persist. Welcome back, however much work awaits you and the new mod(s) of this section. |
saying he can't play for Chelsea, Spurs or United. who told him any of those would be interested in him? Next thing he will say he sees his future in Barcelona. angry that they have not won in 5 years. Is it not down to the ineptitude of people like him? The only person who has a right to be angry at Arsenal is Van Persie. The rest ought to maintain a 'no comment' stance in the media. the boy is a Arrow |
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/20/denilson-arsenal-leave This boy's arrogance is mind boggling. I doubt he will get a regular shirt in Blackpool. I thot Bendtner was the only insane one, this one iseven more hilarious. I wish he would do the talking on the field. |
Akingbola: EFCC, Daudu Petition Chief Judge By Davidson Iriekpen 20 May 2011 Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Thursday petitioned the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, raising what it described as “strong objection” to the conduct of Justice Efang Charles Archibong. Also, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Joseph Daudu has petitioned Justice Auta, questioning the conduct of Justice Archibong in the suit filed by the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Dr. Erastus Akingbola. Daudu, who is counsel to the EFCC, had on Wednesday walked out on Justice Archibong in protest of a ruling dismissing the application for stay of proceedings in the fundamental rights suit instituted by Akingbola against the EFCC The commission in a petition signed by its Chairman, Mrs Farida Waziri and dated May 19, 2011 faulted the conduct of the judge in the matter. It disclosed that the climax of Justice Archibong’s "undue interests and manifest bias" in favour of the bank chiefs in proceedings before the court was graphically demonstrated on May 18, 2011 in the Akingbola matter. The commission noted that in view of the judge’s manifest and unconcealed interests in the Akingbola case and other EFCC matters, his compromised stance cannot ensure justice in the matters. It requested that since the judge had held the EFCC in contempt, he should excuse himself from all EFCC matters or be excused. While referring the CJ to the petition, the anti-graft commission said it would not bore him repeating them in the petition. Daudu said with the instruction of his client, it has unequivocally lost confidence in the ability of Justice Archibong to deliver justice in the matter. He added that from the conduct of the judge, he has descended into the arena and had become embroiled in the mess of the controversy. “It is with the greatest reluctance but with a high sense of responsibility to the institution for the administration of justice as represented by the judiciary that I write this petition as a strong objection to the serial conducts of Archibong J as it relates to matters being prosecuted by our Commission in connection with erstwhile bank chiefs. “The anti climax of his undue interests and manifest bias in favour of the bank chiefs in proceedings before the court was graphically demonstrated on the 18 May 2011 in one of the related matters where our lead Counsel J B Dauda SAN led. The facts are already before you vide a petition and we will not bore you by repeating them. For the records however,we attach a copy for ease of reference. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/akingbola-efcc-daudu-petition-chief-judge/91696/ |
Fresh Air!!! ![]() |
^^^^ you know that ain't gonna happen. he needs his SSA, SA and PAs. |
Kobojunkie:their is a constitutional clause that each state must be represented in the FEC. that is 36 ministers. |
^^^^ It is not even like he sent a bill to the NASS and Mark and he co travellers are playing hard to get. This 'simple' matter that is so fundamental to running a prudent govt, the lucky man throws up his hands in the air. how will he tackle knotty issues that will entail him going for the jugular of the barbarians that hold us bound as a nation? |
By Davidson Iriekpen Drama Wednesday characterised the fundamental rights suit instituted by former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Dr. Erastus Akingbola , against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Federal High Court in Lagos as the President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Mr Joseph Daudu (SAN) , walked out on the presiding judge, Justice Charles Archibong , in protest against a ruling dismissing the application for stay of proceedings. Daudu who is representing the EFCC in the suit had filed a stay of proceedings application to enable the commission appeal an earlier order of the judge directing the anti-graft to immediately release Akingbola and one of his aides, Bayo Dada from its custody and stay of all actions pending the determination of the suit. Justice Archibong had declared the arrest and detention of the former bank chief by the EFCC as unlawful, illegal, wrongful and unconstitutional and also ordered that they be released from the custody of the Commission with immediate effect. Akingbola, who is already facing corruption and money laundry charges before Justice Archibong at the Federal High Court, Lagos, was re-arrested by the EFCC two weeks ago alongside Dada for allegedly stealing about N50 billion from Intercontinental Bank Plc. The drama started when counsel to the former bank chief, Chief Felix Fagbohungbe (SAN) informed the court that the EFCC served him with an application for stay of proceedings Tuesday at about 4pm and he would need time to respond. At that stage , Justice Archibong asked him if the commission had complied with his order that his client should be released and Fagbohungbe informed that though the commission had been served with a copy of the order they refused to obey it. The court then asked Daudu why the EFCC was yet to obey the order. Instead of answering the question, the NBA president responded, submitting that the court can not go into that issue at that stage because it was the subject matter of the case which was not ripe for hearing now. According to him, “we have filed a motion for stay of proceedings because we have taken steps to exercise our rights of appeal and we are appealing Your Lordship order” After listening to him, Justice Archibong lost his temper and immediately proceeded to dismiss the motion, which according to him, was misconceived. Immediately after the ruling, Daudu informed the court that he was no longer interested in the proceedings. At this point, Justice Archibong replied, saying if he wanted to leave, he had the right to do so. Daudu immediately led other lawyers appearing with him including Dr. Kanyinsola Ajayi (SAN) out of the court in protest. As they were walking out of the court, the judge pronounced their actions contemptuous and consequently held that the EFCC was in contempt of court. After they left, the court went ahead to listen to the fundamental human rights application filed by the embattled former bank chief and his aide and granted all their prayers. The court declared that the arrest, detention, harassment and incarceration of the Akingbola and Dada were a violation of their fundamental right to dignity of human person, personal liberty and freedom of movement guaranteed by Section 34, 35, and 41 of the Constitution and Articles 5, 6, 12 of the African Charter on Human and People Rights. The court further restrained the EFCC whether by themselves or by their agents, servants, officers, privies or otherwise from arresting or detaining the applicants in any manner. The EFCC had filed a 29-count charge against the bank chief and others the court, where it explained how he allegedly stole over N50 billion belonging to the bank. EFCC made an attempt to arraign Akingbola and Dada before an Ikeja High Court on Monday but the move was strongly opposed by their counsel on the ground that they had filed a motion challenging the court’s jurisdiction. Though they were brought to court and later docked, the court was however, forced to adjourn the matter till Monday next week for the hearing of the application. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/akingbola-nba-president-daudu-walks-out-on-judge/91596/ |
Dumb comment. how long did it take David Mark and his band of travellers to shut out new comers from the senate leadership? If that self serving ammendment can be executed in less than 10 days what stops this motion of utmost national importance from being executed in same or even shorter time. GEJ, grow some balls and quit maintaining the status quo!! what the heck do we need 36 ministers for? we have not even began to count the SA, SSA and PAs to the SSAs and SSAs. This Fresh Air will stink at this rate o! |
By Ahamefula Ogbu President Goodluck Jonathan has said it is impossible to have a leaner cabinet without an amendment of the relevant sections of the 1999 Constitution which stipulate that each of the 36 states of the federation should have a representative on the Federal Executive Council. He was responding to the suggestion of the Presidential Advisory Council (PAC), who came to pay him a thank-you-visit as they wound down on their assignment. Jonathan told his guests that much as he preferred a leaner and more efficient cabinet, such cannot be achieved at the moment, unless the 1999 Constitution was amended. But the PAC, which is headed by Lt-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, (rtd.), however advised the President to exercise due diligence while picking members of his incoming cabinet by having an eye on integrity and high performance as “a man is known through the type of people around him”. Inaugurated on March 4, 2010, the Danjuma committee, said there were well qualified Nigerians within the country and in the Diaspora to make the cabinet and get the expected results “that will create Nigeria of our expectations”. Jonathan however thanked the PAC members for their quality recommendations, which he promised to use to set goals for the incoming cabinet members. He promised that the recommendations will be handy for the in-coming officials as they would be exposed to the proposals for policy direction at a retreat he intends to organise after their appointments are made. “Your suggestion for a smaller cabinet is excellent and I agree with you, but this cannot be achieved without constitutional amendment’. Jonathan thanked them for offering themselves for service at a time the country needed direction and would continue to tap from their wealth of experience. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/jonathan-leaner-cabinet-impossible-for-now/91612/ |
these crooks and band of vampires are not only short sighted but inherently evil. in less than two weeks they have passed this self serving bill. how long has the PIB been pending? what of the FOI? i have said it before and will say it again, self serving tiks like David Mark (Ojo Madueke is another high ranking member of that class) are the real enemies of progress. |
By Kunle Akogun Despite the avalanche of criticisms, the Senate Wednesday unanimously amended its standing rules that would effectively prevent new senators from aspiring to the position of presiding officers. The amendment involved the insertion of a new Rule 3(2) to replace Rule 97(1)(f), making only ranking senators eligible to henceforth occupy such high offices as presiding officers of the upper chamber and for appointments into principal legislative offices in the Senate or for any parliamentary delegations. And in a veiled reaction to the criticisms that trailed the move to amend the rule a few weeks to the election of new presiding officers, the Senate President, David Mark, warned that the lawmakers would never chicken out because of some deliberate blackmail from those outside the chambers, adding that the new rule is not about David Mark. He said: “There is nothing wrong with what we are doing now. If we chicken out because a few people are not comfortable with it, I think it is not the right thing to do". The amendment also makes the life span of the Senate to now be in perpetuity, meaning that the legislative business of the Senate will continue irrespective of the end of any session. Accordingly, all businesses of the senate including bills which remain undetermined at the close of session of the Senate shall be resumed and proceeded with in the same manner as if no adjournment of the senate had taken place. The amendment was sequel to a motion for the amendment to the Senate Standing Orders 2007 sponsored by the Senate Majority Leader, Teslim Folarin, who asked the Senate to consider and approve the amendments to the standing orders first by inserting a new rule 3(2) to replace rule 97(1)(f) on ranking. The new rules which specifically dwelt on the election of President of the Senate, Deputy President of the Senate and appointments of principal officers and other officers of the Senate, states that nomination of senators to serve as presiding officers and appointments of principal officers and other officers of the Senate or on any parliamentary delegations shall be in accordance with the ranking of senators; “(b) In determining ranking, the following order shall apply: (i) senators returning based on number of times re-elected, (ii) senators who had been members of the House of Representatives, (iii) senators who have been members of a State House of Assembly or any other Legislative House; (iv) Senators elected as senators for the first time. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/senate-shuts-leadership-roles-from-new-members/91626/ |

Pele should stick to hawking Viagra. The man talks c rap lots of time. The same man that voted Nicky Butt player of the tournament in 2002 world cup.SMH. |
Skii:the day you realise you are not running the same race with any of your peers (or any one else for that matter) will be the begining of your redemption. As long as you are making progress and the devil has not snatched the wheel of your life and is driving it at a break neck speed to life, there is hope. Just keep on walking, Johnnie Walker style , |
^^^^^^ you will be called a hater for saying the truth and not butt licking. |
Ib:Is that a poem? |
she should go and do a HIV test. |
acceptable message, unacceptable messenger. the same Festus that is defending Senator Ibekwe? Jesus Wept!! Cherechy: |
Even without a secret child i would not stay with that guy. dude is so unattractive. |
ACN should have given him post dated letter of resignation to sign. |
coogar:i appreciate the video but asomething must be done to rescue him. not just about having friends on the wrong side, lad has had a few police issues, possessing a gun, intimidating a witness in a homicide case etc. In your view what can be down to rescue his highly rated talent?because at this rate, we might have another Gazza on our hands. |
That decision i took over 2 and half years ago that seems not to have paid off and no day passes without me regretting what could have been if i chose another of my numerous options. regret seems to be consuming my whole being. |
coogar:It is not an overkill. an over kill will be playing Nani and Valencia at once. If we play Park (tucking in when we lose possession and not going as wide as Valencia on the other side) in addition to Carrick and Giggs, that is 3 in the middle. how much more do you guys want us to defer to Barca without negating any hope of being a threat? we did not lose in rome because Giggs played, we lost because we did not turn up and we deferred too much to Barca and lost any hope of hurting them. there is a second reason that Fergie says he knows but will not tell. |
coogar:how do we keep him out of jail? Seen enough of the other lads to give an insight on their abilities and prospects? |
chamotex:there is a contradiction between the bold comments labelled 1,2,3. we can not give it a go while playing rooney anwhere away from the hole where he has excelled in the last 3 months. i feel convinced that Sir Alex will repeat the chelsea line up with Evra coming in for O'shea and Rafael for Fabio. If Rafeal does not play at least 45 mins against Blackpool, then it is a sign that JO'S will be the right back at wembley. With that formation it will not be a CM of two but three cos Park will be tucking in much more into the middle when we lose posession and would Evra would play a bit higher than usual to press Pedro and Alves back. If we must give it a go, Rooney must play in the hole and we must not play 451. |
Chamotex, I assume you are conversant with happenings in the youth team and i wonder if you were able to make it down to Sheffield yesterday? Anywhich ways, i would like to hear your views about the following lads; Pogba Morrison (is he all that?) Tunnicliffe the keane brothers. cheers. |
