i just saw the youtube link. how many years did she spend abroad? reminds me of Kemistry's accent. used to give me headache at night while listening to Rhythm FM. |
that envoy is just a simplistic propagandist. why should any country handover its economy to foreigners? have Brazil, venezuela's latin neighbour that is a shinning light in emerging markets handed over there country to foreigners? what of Singapore? if not handing over your country's economy to foreigners is rolling out egomaniac and time tested failed policies that the likes of chavez are implementing, then God save us. The same crap mad Bob spouts while his people are dying of hunger is what this silly envoy is preaching. Yet next to mad Bob you have country's like Botswana and even Rwanda that are making very tangible progress without resorting to policies from the grave. |
i am no defender of western media nor am i willing and interested in entering the endless cyclical debate on communism vs. capitalism. simply check out the indices of the quality of life, living, etc of Venezuelans before Chavez started his charade and now. If they are better off, come back and continue this discussion. what did you expect the envoy (an appointee of chavez) to come and tell you? that his country is worse than nigeria and that things are hopeless? most things in venezuela have been nationalized and little is working. the price of fuel is one of the very many indices. go see the brain drain of professionals and capital flight in venezuela before you applaud that envoy of a man. Chaves is an egomaniac comedian.we do not need advise from his type. irrespective of the price of fuel, will it be readily available at all times and will the revenue generated used for the developmental projects? those are more important issues. |
i have so much to say about this particular slaughter but because i am conscious of not revealing my identity online, i will desist. All i can say is that Amaechi needs to do something. by the way, is there no LGA chairman for that area? what is needed is a combination of education, inspection and enforcement of health standards. |
the man is suffering from old age. |
i laugh in Swahili. Venezuela lecturing Nigeria? wonders will never cease. If Dora had a clue about Venezuela, she should have walked the man out of her office. I know say we bad but e never reach the level wey venezuela will come to lecture us. Hugo Chavez has wrecked that country and is acting a comic sopa opera with the lives of his people. |
those who say Terry G's album was the best of the year, really get me thinking. best in what sense? i think we need to understand where they are coming from. Like someone said elsewhere, Terry G's album is trying to take Naija music scene about 5 years back. Wackness does not even begin to describe the shallowness of that album. it is an album you can only apreciate when you are under the influence. on the issue of M.I, his album was released in 2008 not this year. |
the blackest of them all. |
naijaking1, i am disappointed in you.How can you stoop to such low levels? This CBN tournament has been on for ages. the course is only named after IBB, it is not as i he owns it. I guess we can all stop driving on roads named after Abacha,IBB and OBJ? For Mohammed Fawehenmi, i only have one word;Get a life young man. |
so he will not just assume that i was defending HOTR because i am a member of the congregation. mike oscar: |
Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State yesterday read the riot act to security agencies guarding the militant camp in Aluu to restrict their movements within the camp while those not resident in the facility should stay away pending when their allowances are ready. |
chase4:i wept over a year ago when i went to that town last. i vowed that as long as it lied within my power, nothing will take me into that town again. It is simply not fit for humans. |
this Aloy-Emeka you be craze man o. i like the way you put am Dr Alban no dey hang around with akara boys like Dbanj o |
sodconfirm:all these ignorant comments are irksome. So until all the homeless and hungry in the world are clothed, churches will not hold worship concerts again? Have you tried to find out what House on the rock does for the hungry, naked and homeless? rather than spouting all these simplistic ignorant comments try and see what Freedom Foundation is doing. There are loads of Christian organisations doing the will of the Master in that regard. There is no law in Nigerian constitution that says it must be publicized through the media. I know of countless Christian organisations that host free medicals, provide clothings and even run schools in hinter lands in this country while running evangelical outreaches. Some of those organisations are fully funded by some churches. there is a lot wrong with the church in Nigeria but they are trying although a lot more can be done. That does not mean that worship concerts will be postponed until all the poor and hungry are catered for. Even with all his wealth, there were still poor and hungry in Solomon's time. by the way, i am not and will not be a member of The house on the Rock but the truth must be told. |
I hope Don Jazzy fixes the recording sessions for night times. He could even produce the tracks for free. |
no be better gun sef. |
what is this thread doing in this section? it is already in the music section. moderator, pls do the needful. |
Like i said earlier but i am not comparing them Dr Alban and Micheal Jackson.I think the comparison is justified for Dr Alban and D'banj the problem is Most Nigerians are myopic and ignorant for you to even say what you said above shows that you know nothing of the music industry in europe .sweden was at a point second only to the Usa in music Exports in the late 80s the early 1990s thank God for the internet do your reseach so sweden is not ordinary .D'banj is arrogant accept the fact so because Mohammed Ali is fragile now and is no more a world champion does it justify anyone to disrespect him or insult him.I know Dr Alban bleeped up by going so low to approach D'banj but at least i am surprised that people are supporting this act of Arrogance and disrespect on a Legend. When 50 cent disrespected Whitney houston American rose up to condemn him but it is only in nigeria where we dont appreciate the sweat of our heros past will open their fucking mouth to praise D'banj.Dr Alban opened doors for D'banj whether you like it or not the Mtv Award D'banj is Making noise about happened because of the sweat of his predecessors who where on made Mtv Believe we are worth having a Channel and an award .in the late 80s when the only black person on Mtv was Micheal jackson Dr Alban broke barriers with a song Called Hello Afrika which was heavily played on Mtv as well as its my life Praising Afrika in his African Accent and AFrikan Beat not like MO hits and co copying Americans. This and Nigerian Comments supporting D'banj can make the upcoming Generation lose faith in our country as it like Nigerians are like Groupies only with when you are hot and when you are not some rat can disrespect and they open their mouth as say serves you right it sad no wonder we dont have role models and Good leaders.

dude, since you cannot have a discussion without resorting to insults and swears, i do not wish to continue this exchange with you. I guess dbanj should send a delegation headed by the information and culture minister to go and beg Alban. whatever, |
i repeat, i am no fan of Dbanj but the fact remains that Alban is not Michael Jackson. If he and Dbanj have no previous history and Dbanj probably does not even know jack about him, why not use official means? like i suggested earlier, using his cousin Charly Boy would have had the much needed impact. You can bet that Dbanj will never tell charly boy to call his manager, even if he smoked all the weed in lagos. Yet it is an incontestable fact that Charly Boy is no where near a star as Alban. I just don't see the reason for Alban's anger. and for those querying Dbanj, while he might have been ignorant, it is not like he offended God.It is just Dr. Alban. And i repeat, in Euro music, Sweden is no where as big a stage as the UK. |
is this thread not meant to be in the jokes section? Moderator, please do your job. |
kinol:that pasuma link is so funny my belly almost ached. |
semid:Faze good dancer? you must be kidding me. dude can't dance to save his life. same with Banky W. two of the best voices in naija but some of the worst dancers. |
i concur with Semid, Obiem and no2atheism and would have liked to add something extra but when i come remember the log wey full my eye, i just bone. on the issue of ex porn watching and ex gay Donnie and Kirk, it just shows that the mercy of God will never be out sinned (pardon the grammar). As long as there is genuine repentance, God is able to save to the uttermost. rather than chastise Donnie and Kirk, i respect them for having the courage to come out and repent in the open. there are a lot in church leadership that are doing worse and doing it in secret. For such there is no mercy. |
i want to be a euro based footballer when i grow up. |
i am no fan of Dbanj (despite listenig to his music) and my opinion on him is well noted on this site. however, all this talk about Alban being a legend in Europe is utter crap. Alban was popular in sweden (ordinary sweden) and a little bit in the rest o the UK for about a year or two. since then,he has gone under music wise. the name and fame he build is not big enough for him to live on or over a decade or so after. whoever is claiming he has 6 shows a month should either show proof or retract such. i hope the shows does not include playing in some of these run down night clubs around red light districts? who is Alban not to call his manager? if he was really serious and had such a ragile ego, he should have gone through Charly boy his cousin. |
i have another question. If Yobo was still in Sharks or Eagle Cement (abi na Dolphin now), would she still have loved him? |
this girl never hear of strapless bra? |
Activities heralding the re-election campaign of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua will effectively take off in Abuja today, THISDAY can report. A meeting will be convened to inaugurate national and state coordinators as well as appoint national facilitators of the campaign group, the newspaper was told. The meeting is under the direct supervision of the Presidency which has picked the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters, Senator Polycarp Nwite, as the anchor. Presidency sources informed THISDAY that the campaign team would be named “Yar’Adua for New Nigeria” and would hold the meeting at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, with Nwite superintending. The time of the meeting is 11am. The invitation to the meeting was signed by one Dr. Idris Aminu who is already serving as secretary of the committee and is on the staff of the Presidency. Other part anchors of the meeting are one Senator Mahdi, who is serving as Chairman Board of Trustees, and Farouk Abdulazeez, former Chairman of the defunct Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) – the political group of the president’s late brother, General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua. When THISDAY contacted Nwite yesterday, he confirmed that a meeting would take place today to inaugurate the committee for the “Yar’Adua for New Nigeria” campaign. But he said he was only facilitating the fruition of a group of Nigerians to formulate the President’s vision for a new Nigeria. According to him, “what we are holding is a meeting of Nigerians who believe in the continuity of the programmes and policies of President Yar’Adua to take Nigeria to a new level.” He further said the movement would be officially launched at a latter date, but explained that what today’s meeting is all about is to announce the names of state coordinators and national leaders. It was gathered that the office of the senior special adviser to the president on political matters has been gradually engaged in organising meetings for the President’s second term bid. Ironically, Yar’Adua had, during the Special Convention of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), directed that all campaigns for 2011 be suspended as they were a distraction to his administration. Already, the Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Dr. Harilu Mohammed Bello, has said that the party would support the second term aspiration of Yar’Adua as the seven-point agenda of his administration is programmed to be completed within eight years. According to the deputy national chairman earlier in the year, “President Yar’Adua is entitled to four years in office. That [will] end by 2011 and by the grace of God, he will seek a second term in office to make it eight years, because his seven-point agenda is designed to be implemented within a time frame of eight years. “He is entitled to second term in office and by the grace of God, there is nothing on ground to stop him. The PDP structure is on ground for his second term in office. There is nothing to indicate that he will not contest for the second term in office when the time comes.” Bello expressed the support of the party for the second term of President Yar’Adua, declaring: “We shall offer him a 100 per cent support when the time comes. I can assure you that the PDP structures will afford him the second term when the time comes.” Ahead of the 2011 general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said prepareations for the smooth conduct throughout the country are ongoing. Disclosing this when the members of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters visited her office, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Imo State, Mrs. Maria Owi, said INEC, in preparation for smooth conduct of 2011 elections had started making non-sensitive materials available to states. |
Rapper pays over R100 000 for chance to sing with his idol Nov 8, 2009 10:21 PM | By GABISILE NDEBELE HHP, the South African multiawards-winning rapper, says he is taking his music a step further and is bringing in US rapper Nas to collaborate with him. The 29-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jabulani Tsambowho, said he wanted more from his soon-to-be-released album Dumela and that is why he decided to pay over R100000 just to get a chance to sing with Nas, his idol. The song with Nas, titled Keledimo, will be released in a 25-track double CD. In it HHP raps about "being idolised by people when all he wants is for them to realise he is human". "I respect Nas's craft and have always wanted to do something with him, I didn't want to go the route where he raps in my song for free, which he would have had to offer because then I still would be waiting for him to get back to me. So I decided to pay him for the track because I look up to the guy, so I took the normal standard route of featuring an artist in a song," he said. Nas, from New York, who was born Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, is the husband of pop singer Kelis, and is best known for his hit Hip Hop is Dead and for being in the feud with rapping mogul Jay-Z. Although HHP admits putting back his album release date for three months since August, due to the red tape involved in recording with international stars, he says that it is money he probably "won't regret spending, as he has got what he wanted". "I could have waited for connections and favours from people to hook me up with Nas for months, but since I wanted my album out before the end of this year, I didn't wait for favours and decided to do it myself and go about it the right way," he said. Since winning the Best Music Video Award for his song Mpitse at the MTV African Music Awards in Kenya last month, HHP is also recording two songs with the awards host, multi-platinum Haitian-American musician Wyclef Jean, and has recorded another with African-American soul singer Goapele. HHP has collaborated with many stars locally and continentally, such as Danny K, Nigerian Naeto C and jazz maestro Jimmy Dludlu. |
