it is very naive for anyone to comment on this story.
Stella has been unwilling (rightly) to comment in public on her relationship with the Aboderins.
They have never courted publicity in this regard either.
how anyone can come to a logical conclusion without hearing both parties is baffling.
considering the fact that you can hear both parties and still be far from the complete picture.
All i wish is for both parties to respect the spirit of Jaiye in all their actions overtly or otherwise.
His manner of death and age deserves that bit.

whoever this reviewer is, i doff my heart to him/her.
I have been reading his blog for a while and i am impressed with him.
He/her is always on point.
the fact that we can not agree on the songs to skip is simply a subjective fact.he only gave his opinion as the reviewer.
tundewoods, i agree with you completely on the need for a live recording for the Asa collabo.
beatmakers are actually ruining the industry.some may argue but their success is short sighted.
real music talent are dying.autotune and beat makers have taken over.it is not just in hip hop but the entire industry.
ever wondered why everyone is singing now?even rappers like Lord of Ajasa and Ikechukwu?
on the issue of 9ice, i think this album confirms my greatest fear for him.
He lacks advisers. big time.
the talent is unmistakable but there seems to be a lack of direction that can only be provided by proper management.
from his poor stage performances that was often neglected due to the sheer quality of his previous album to this Tradition album, the lack of management is very obvious.

this is the bit i love.
on the basis of this, the man is a prime candidate for Psychiatric evaluation and detention in a mental health facility

Aondoakaa cautioned opposition leaders against making utterances capable of destabilising the nation, noting that “the powers of the President are embodied in his body. We don’t want to take issue with the opposition. We shall meet in 2011 and they will not succeed.”

Aondoakaa also said that the probe into the $180m Halliburton scandal was stalled because witnesses gave evidence in French and it had been difficult translating the information to English in Nigeria.

He added that N6bn was paid by the government through his ministry for debts incurred on judgements against federal agencies in 2009. He decried the failure of federal ministries, departments and agencies to heed legal opinion from his ministry. He lamented that this non-challance had cost his ministry huge sums of money in litigation.

No right thinking person who has lived for any length of time in SA and socialised extensively there will be ignorant of the fact that most drug dealers are Nigerians.
My problem with Cele's comments are they only highten zenophopic attitudes and do not solve the problem in any way whatsoever.
To solve the problem you need to address the route.
How can we lower the demand for these harmful substances?
How do these dealers gain access into our country and without any other source of livelihood and career path have permanent residencies and even citizenships?

Cele, address those issues and stop making hypocritical populist comments that would only pitch the poor and gullible masses against one another.
Foreign Affairs › Re: South Africa Police Chief Blames Nigerians For South African Drug Problems by mbulela: 2:51am On Dec 15, 2009
idiot Mr CELE, the police commisioner,
have you asked yourself two simple questions?
- how did this people get into the country?who granted them visas and under what circumstances?
- secondly, what makes this trade thrive so much?who are the buyers and what are the underlying factors driving its consumption?

You just open your big mouth talking crap in public without thinking. The South African society is detoriating faster than the Nigerian society and at a very alarming rate.
Most drug dealers are Nigerians no doubt but finding answers to the two sets of questions above is the right place to start not just making populist statements that just tickle the ears of gullible listeners without solving the problem.
This how the stealing ANC elite go around making hypocritical, populist and selfish comments that do not in any way address the fast rate of decay enveloping the south african society.

smaller countries have organised and functional embassies, yet go and see the market square called a high commission that the South African government operates in lagos.see the criminals that facilitate and are given visas and tell me why drug dealers will not run things in Jozi and Pretoria?

I don't blame them.If only we had a government.

Politics › The Trembling Eight by mbulela(op): 4:58am On Dec 12, 2009
Anxiety is widespread in the Nigerian banking community ahead of yesterday’s release of the balance sheets of the 10 banks queried by the Central Bank after its special audit.

Banking industry experts believe the financial position of eight of the banks is “grave” with combined losses hitting over ₦1 trillion.

This new development is as a result of the nine months balance sheets of the banks that was released to the Nigerian Stock exchange yesterday. Inside sources reveal that the balances of all the books were in red, with some banks revealing losses as high as ₦200 billion.

“We estimate that the combined banks’ losses of these banks are estimated to be over ₦1 trillion. We haven’t seen the total figure but Oceanic Bank have come out with their own books, with about ₦200 billion losses. Union Bank we hear, is with another ₦200 billion, so if the others present similar losses, we are talking of about ₦1 trillion. That is a tremendous amount of money,” he said.

Way forward

“This means that those banks no longer exist. Atuche has been asking for Bank PHB to be given back to him, but then, he needs to recapitalise up to the tune of about ₦250 billion. Where is he going to see that kind of money from?

The best bet for these banks are for them to be handed over to foreign institutions. How many would take them on? I don’t know of many foreign investors who would be interested in these banks, at this point,” he said.

A source at Intercontinental Bank Plc confirmed to NEXT that the rescued banks were required by the Central Bank to submit their nine months results, but he would not be drawn to the balance sheet outlook of his bank. “The Central Bank said that all the nine banks should bring their results. There is no going back on that,” he said.

However, a top official of Fin Bank Plc, claims the concern is not only for the rescued banks. “It is an industry wide concern. For the past two weeks, all banks have been submitting their third quarter results, so it’s not all about the rescued banks,” he said.

Bismarck Rewane, in his outlook for the rescued banks reasoned that investors are increasingly pessimistic. “While market indications look impressive, investors are shorting their stocks. Policy statements such as ‘Investors in the distressed banks have lost their entire worth and bank shares cannot qualify as collateral for loans’ have made investors increasingly pessimistic, with no hope of recovery in sight. Despite low interest rates, investors do not consider equities a lucrative asset class,” he said.

On August 14, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi raised concerns that as far as October last year, some Nigerian banks showed serious liquidity strain and had to be given financial support by the Central Bank in the form of an “Expanded Discount Window,” (EDW), where the CBN extended credit facilities to these banks on the basis of collateral in the form of Commercial Paper and Bankers acceptances.

According to him, as at June 4, 2009, the total amount outstanding at the Expanded Discount Window was ₦256.571 billion.

After about four months of special auditing of all Nigerian banks, nine banks were declared to be in grave situations. The banks are currently seeking investors to recapitalise them. The banks are Afribank, FinBank, Intercontinental Bank, Oceanic Bank and Union Bank, Wema Bank, Bank PHB, Spring Bank and Equitorial Trust Bank.

The banks were accused by the Central Bank of “excessively high level of non-performing loans, Poor corporate governance, lax credit administration, failure to meet prudential ratios such as liquidity and capital adequacy, high level of loan concentration to the capital market and oil and gas sectors.” Mohammed Abdullahi, head, corporate affairs department of the Central Bank of Nigeria explained to NEXT recently that the Finance Ministry, with the Central Bank of Nigeria were considering three possible solutions for stabilising the rescued banks.

“There are options, three options to go about stabilising these banks.

The first is for foreign investors coming to invest in the banks and buy them up. The second is to encourage acquisition and mergers by strong local banks in Nigeria. The third option is the one that government would acquire equity shares and then sell to the public at a later date, which is not nationalisation,” he said.

Politics › Yar’adua: Ministers In Supremacy Battle by mbulela(op): 4:43am On Dec 11, 2009
By Emeka Madunagu, Tobi Soniyi and Everest Amaefule, Published: Friday, 11 Dec 2009

The absence of President Umaru Yar‘Adua from the country may have sparked off supremacy battle among his cabinet members and close aides, an investigation by our correspondents has revealed.

Some members of the Federal Executive Council disclosed this on Thursday just as the Peoples Democratic Party expressed confidence in the ability of the ailing President to continue to lead the country.

The FEC members revealed that a few privileged ministers and aides who have had direct access to the President or spoken with him on the telephone, regarded the opportunities as a political weapon.

Our correspondents learnt that those that have had ”limited access” to Yar‘Adua included the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Adamu Aliero; and the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abba Ruma.

The aides that have also enjoyed access to the President are his Chief Security Officer and his Aide-de-Camp.

Yar’Adua’s son-in-law and Bauchi Governor Issa Yuguda has also been privileged to interact on the telephone with the President who is being treated for acute pericarditis, an inflammation of the heart in the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

One of the sources accused the favoured ministers and aides of preventing others from gaining direct access to Yar’Adua, saying that even Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan does not have a clear picture of the President’s health.

He said, ”Those who have had access to the President have been shielding others from seeing him. They regard their access and information about the Mr. President as what they should use to achieve their political objectives.

“Those who have seen him decide what they should and should not tell others. Even the Vice-President does not have a clear picture of his condition.”

According to other sources, those who have had access to Yar‘Adua fear that he may be put under pressure to resign, if others were allowed to see him or establish contact with him in the hospital.

Our correspondents also learnt that the Federal Ministry of Health, which ought to be in the know about the President‘s condition, had been denied the right to make any input in terms of advice.

It was also learnt that the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Idi Hong, who recently returned from Hajj, made spirited moves to see the President but did not succeed.

”As at today (Thursday), there is no record in the Federal Ministry of Health that shows that the ministry has been consulted for advice on the President‘s condition. Even the minister of state who was in Saudi Arabia did not see him,” one of the sources said.

Our correspondents learnt that a number of FEC members were hoping to be briefed by the health ministers since the President was flown to Jeddah 18 days ago, but that is yet to happen.

Meanwhile, the PDP on Thursday expressed its confidence in the ability of Yar‘Adua to perform the duties of his office inspite of the confusion surrounding the severity of his ailment and warned those ”playing politics with his health to have a rethink.”

The party, at its 49th National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, offered special prayers for the President and directed all its state chairmen to do same in their respective chapters.

It condemned what it described as negative utterances of some Nigerians “over the health of our dear President,” and reminded them that it was not unusual for human beings to fall sick.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor said, ”As a human being, it is not unusual for the President to be sick. The good news is he will return home soon.

“I therefore urge our detractors to stop playing God; rather, we should always pray for the quick recovery of the sick.”

Ogbulafor said that the President’s competence and ability to run the affairs of the nation was not in doubt, adding, ”The PDP maintains that Mallam Umaru Musa Yar’Adua still remains our President.”

Virtually all the speakers at the meeting supported the party‘s claim that the President was recovering fast and would return to the country “very soon.”

Before the PDP NWC meeting, the Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, said she would call Yar’Adua to convey the prayers of Anambra State indigenes to him.

The minister spoke in Abuja when the Anambra State Public Officers Forum led by Chief Simon Okeke paid her a courtesy visit.

Also speaking in Abuja, Chairman of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, Ambassador Hassan Adamu, said as the leader of the country, Yar’Adua deserved prayers and compassion from the citizens.

Okeke had told Akunyili that the people of Anambra State were praying for the quick recovery of the President so that he could return to face the task of governance.

He said, “We are here also to pass a message that Anambra people in general and those of us in Abuja in particular are praying for the speedy recovery of the President so that he can come back and face his onerous duties.”

Responding, Akunyili said, “I will call Saudi Arabia (Thursday) tonight and deliver your message of prayers to the President. And God will grant our prayers.”

Speaking with journalists, Adamu called on Nigerians to pray for Yar’Adua’s quick recovery.

He said, “As a leader of the country, all Nigerians need to support President Yar’Adua by offering prayers to the Almighty God to grant him quick recovery; to enable him return home and continue the good work he had started.”

Apart from prayers, he said Nigerians needed to show compassion, patience and understanding “at this trying period for the president and Nigeria.”

It is a good article. Please post Segun Adeniyi's (if any; I don't know the guy) illuminating article on this matter.
Segun Adeniyi is the scum of the earth.
He was the editor of THISDAY until he became Yaradua's spokesman.
every week in a column called The verdict according to segun Adeniyi, he wrote lovely articles that everyone fell over themselves to congratulate him every week.
His analysis were always precise, illuminating and hard hitting.
We all did not know he was positioning himself for position.
Now he is in the corridors of power (voluntarily) and spends every waking moment defending lies, propaganda and ineptness of the yar adua administration.
today he is doing every thing he criticized from the outside.
i had little respect for Nigerian journalists and columnists but the moment Segun Adeniyi crossed over my cynicism became full blown.
All the hot air people blow in the air do not convince me.
Almost every Nigerian social/political commentator is defending a selfish interest.
It is easy to talk but the main wahala is to walk.
By the way, Dele Momodu is a worse scum than Segun Adeniyi.
The moment aunty Dora co-opts him into the re-branding chop chop committee, he will change tune.
Politics › New Residences For Vp, Senate President, Speaker by mbulela(op): 12:05am On Dec 10, 2009
…Deputy Senate President, Deputy Speaker too
From Sufuyan Ojeifo in Abuja, 12.09.2009

With their spacious and palatial residences in Apo Legislators’ Quarters still in shape, new residences are to be built for all four presiding officers in the National Assembly, this time around, at the high brow Maitama District Extension of Abuja. Reasons were not immediately given by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Senator Adamu Aliero, for the new residences for which N1.5 billion has been earmarked in the 2010 budget for their design and construction. But it was learnt that the move might have been informed by the infiltration of Apo Quarters by other Nigerians who bought houses from senators in the fifth session in the wake of the monetisation exercise. Security in and around the premises of Apo Quarters has consequently become lax as security personnel have been unable to keep a tab on movements of persons in and out of the Quarters. All four presiding officers to benefit from the new residences are the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Repre-sentatives, Deputy Senate Presi-dent and Deputy Speaker. Some of their residences in Apo are currently being rehabilitated. Aliero, who appeared before the Senate Committee on FCT to defend the Ministry’s 2010 budget estimates of N124.110 billion, said that a new residence would also be constructed for the Vice-President. He said that N2 billion had been earmarked for that purpose in the budget. He also unfolded plans to build a five-star hospital in the FCT in conjuction with foreign companies, saying this would help to take care of the high rate of foreign travels for medical attention by public officials. He said that the five-star hospital would be well-equipped with state of the art (“the most advanced level of knowledge and technology currently achieved in any field at any given time”) facilities. He did not disclose how much the construction of the hospital would cost. It is expected that when constructed and operational, it would take pressure off the National Hospital and restore prominent Nigerians’ confidence in the capacity by the National Hospital to deliver efficient healthcare. He pointed out that the FCT administration would soon commence the construction of a hydro power station that would generate 400 megawatts for the residents of the FCT. He said the proposed 400 megawatts would be generated from the Gurara Dam under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) deal, stating that N100 billion had already been spent to pipe water from the Lower Usman Dam to Gurara Dam. Aliero told the Senate Committee: “The 2010 FCT budget proposal of the sum of N124,110 billion as National priority budget looks overambitious when compared with the sum of N66, 650 billion appropriated for fiscal 2009. “However, this phenomenal increase was necessitated by the increasing responsibilities of the FCTA in order to meet the growing demand of the populace to put in place the required infrastructure to make Abuja a world class capital city as well as to actualize the seven-point agenda of Mr. President.” He said the previous FCT administrations were responsible for the stalling of several contracts awarded, especially during the Malam Nasir el-Rufai administration. Aliero claimed that many of the contracts were awarded without engineering design and proper costing. He stated: “Because of lack of engineering design and proper costing, it was discovered that contracts’ variations had to be done and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved variations of 13 of such contracts which are now ongoing.”
