modath: Pastor Bakare we know, but the game of politics is not the house of the lord, where white will never be blue.. compromises had to be made.
GMB in this instance can be likened to a strict father who has promiscous children in tertiary institutions, he may not be able to stop them when they are in school but they know better than to engage in their antics under his roof.
I supported the people's general in '11 and I remember what an uphill task it was to convince people outside of my immediate family to give him a chance(one of my friends still side eyes me till this day for trying to sell her an "Unbeliever".) ..My cousin told me Jonathan's shoeless story then was compelling and she wouldn't even entertain my attempts. Fast forward to 2015, she not only voted for GMB,she was online monitoring PU results.
Unless we keep lying to ourselves, our votes alone didn't bring this long desired change, its the formidable force behing the general that made it easier for some people to accept him. God bless you. |

How can you be gullible enough to expect a miracle? All I expect is that governance at the center will no longer be business as usual. That is the only CHANGE i voted for. |

Such miracles as; 1naira =1dollar, you will regulate international oil price, wipe out bokoharam, and feed students twice daily. Wipe our corruption and employ every youth.
Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. Work your talks or face more insults than Jonathan received. Nonsense. if he does not deliver according to whatever standard you have set, you vote against him in four years time. What else can you do? |

Defcon1: What dafuq with this lgbo senate presidency bull?!! Really?? Will the Igbos perish without the senate president's seat? How does that benefit the regular lgbo man on the street( me and you especially) What difference did the likes of Evans( or was it Evan) Enwerem , Chuba Okadigbo and Anyim Pius Anyim make in the lives of the ordinary lgbo man?? The Yoruba were not among the 1st 6 citizens in Jonathan's administration; how did that affect the life of the ordinary Yoruba man on the street?? We are talking about bettering the lives of ordinary citizens here, not the fulfilling the selfish ambitions of some greedy politicians who don't care about the masses.
It will be a travesty to give the senate presidency to a former PDP senator who just decamped after the elections. Many APC senators stood, risked all and fought for their party, only to be usurped by a cowardly, selfish, opportunistic, PDP traitor. I am a neutral, but I believe strongly in giving people positions based on merit. Screw the so-called political advantage; serves only the selfish, greedy money grabbers NOT the poor masses. In addition, APC should even refuse any senator from crossing from PDP. It is not like the party is seeking majority. It already has it. Let them stay where they are and provide a robust opposition. |

neocentric: Let's hope it isnt a little bit too late. All regions deserve to be adequately represented at the centre and feel part of the power whether or not they voted for the party in power. Doing that will show maturity on the part of APC. utter crap. Politics will suddenly not change to suit your definition of maturity. Even in America, positions are shared based on regions of strength but without merit being sacrificed. The east had their sons as deputy senate president and deputy in the house. What did they do for the east? Besides sinking lousy boreholes and giving pseudo-scholarships? Go and see the state of the federal roads in Imo state and see the state of the Enugu/Onitsha highway. If not for Chime and Obaino who have done a parallel state road, travelling in that axis would be hell. I support that all regions need to be carried along but it is nonsensical to expect the SE to have the senate presidency when they don't even have a senator from the ruling party. Also, I wish the APC will ban new members who already hold an electoral office. It will put an end (at least for now) to all these lousy stories. Knowing Nigerian politicians, I will not be shocked if David Mark offers to cross over to APC. There is no honour among these thieves. |

Sources in Kaduna State where the vice president, Namadi Sambo hails from and where there is a PDP government in charge, also informed LEADERSHIP Sunday that in one of the local governments in Southern Kaduna, only N100,000 was allotted to two polling units in one of the wards with a voting population of over 1,000 people in sharp contrast with the situation in some local governments in Edo State, where eligible voters with Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) were given N2000 each to vote for the party, hence the success recorded. naijafresh: Befuddled? You obviously have no idea on how the senate select committees on oil and gas, power, education and agriculture etc sit on all the contracts and demand backhanders before certain large and lucrative contracts are awarded. Who do you think presides over all these activities.
There are certain individuals behind the scenes who have become billionaires by sitting on the right committees. I very much have an idea on those. The truth is that there is a limit to how much harm the Senate president can do from his position. It all depends on the president. If he insists on an atmosphere of "no business as usual", such persons will still make money from their clandestine activities but it will be greatly reduced. In my view, a bad saraki will be more dangerous as a state governor than a senate president. |

Eggcelent: President GEJ gives the impression of a good man at heart but a bad judge of character & someone too laid back to confront his erring subordinates. I wouldn't know the inner workings at Aso Villa, but judging from the outside, it seems the man never fully understood what it meant to be the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria. He might have done much better as governor of one of the smaller states. He actually would have done better as a local govt chairman. The biggest draw back of our political system is how the worst happening find their way to the top. Being a president should never be a product of luck. |

ArodeTsolaye: Why are people laughing and saying nonsense?. The worst he can do is 1. Cancel all FG projects in the East.
2. Exclude Igbos from all ministerial posts as he did during his days in uniform.
3. Selectively witch-hunt and jail Igbo politicians with EFCC and protect his Hausa-Fulani brothers.
4. Make toxic economic policies against legitimate Igbo businessmen as he did while he was a former head of state.
4.Heavily Militarize the East of the Niger.
....and more
How this will make the North and the West better than the East is what i am waiting to see?
The future of Nigeria is pregnant. What it will bear we don't know. But i know born Survivalists (Igbos) will survive. Let's watch and and see. We don't care where his appointees come from. All we care is that it must not be business as usual. Having said that, it makes political sense for regions that contributed to his victory to be rewarded accordingly as long as merit does not suffer. Next time, igbo politicians will stop being ruled by their pockets and simplistic calculations. |

1009ja: If Saraki is senate president, the anti corruption image that Buhari has cultivated will be rubbished. Nobody will believe APC and the promises it made Nigerians. This is where Buhari puts his feet down and demand someone else. Saraki is poster boy for corruption and has so many corrutption cases on-gong. how would a hugely corruption Saraki shepherd the legislation reforms that the new NASS is going to face, including the reform of EFCC. Buhari should not fail even before he starts. Tinubu will try to load the system with a bunch of his fellow looters so as to dilute the scrutiny he is going to face as a new anti corruption drive gets underway. Unless Buhari is going to tell Nigerians that with his wide knowledge of the Nigerian landscape, he can't find somewhat honest people he will work with - people who backgrounds are not as clouded as the Tinubus and the Sarakis. Let us get real. The choice of a senate president is not Buhari's sole perogative. He can have an express will in the choice or who finally makes his candidate but not stuff like senate president. GEJ had a different choice to Tambuwal, see how that choice went? The man has to choose his battles carefully. I don't know what you heard but the change I want does not mean Buhari turning stones into bread. I simply want a change from business as usual. Saraki might not be the best man for that but I do not see any better candidate in the Senate. Unless you want Buhari to hold both positions. |

CFCfan: In addition, if the South-easterners bordered to turn up on election (despite the logistics problem in the area), we would have been talking about Jonathan's reelection. At least, 3 million GEJ votes from Anambra and Enugu would have done the trick. But Igbos were disinterested in the exercise. Their apathy may not be unconnected with Jonathan's inability to build the 2nd Niger bridge, and achieve 100% rehabilitation of federal roads in the SE between 2011 and now. 100% rehabilitation? I doubt he achieved 20%. |
