emiye: I want wike to win, the people must be thought a bitter lesson about not making emotional political decisions.
2015-2019, with wike as governor, we go see how far. My broda, I really feel for the people. However, I do not really blame them. I blame the political elite who were extremely short sighted while wike was establishing structures in the last four years. He used the last four years as minister of state to arm himself with enough financial muscle while empowering his lieutenants. Most of the alamajiri schools in the north were built by his boys. Yet the rest of PDP in rhe state stood aside Watching hands akimbo as they thought it was an amusing fight between Amaechi and wike. Now wike will run roughshod all over them and this visit of violence will bot cease overnight. |

A so-called medical show, this is an hour with some very unpleasant, unlikable, annoying rich people who sleep with each other because no one else could tolerate them. Not an original comment of mine but I share the sentiments therein. |

But Rivers people will cry because violence has come to stay again for the next 4 years like it was in Odili government. You Barcanista as a Riverian know this more than many people here. Just saw your post after posting mine. You read my mind. Rivers have entered one chance. |

I still think Wike will win. He is a horrible choice but he has enough foot soldiers to make mince meat of Ameachi's incumbency. However, in him I think Rivers people have swallowed a bone that will choke them. The indifference of the political elite in that state to the rise of Wike is one that they will live to regret. How our polity produces the likes of Wike, TA Orji and Fayose is a worrying trend. |

odeotito: Just unfortunate that Agbaje is now tainted as an Igbo ethnic politician! Imagine him promising to make an Eze Igbo a First Class Chief in Lagos. Except he was deceiving the Igbo he should know that The Igbo are a fiercely Republican and autonomous people who will not accept the overlordship of a single person as Eze all over Lagos Igbo- confusion will ensue! Just wondering how much of Igbo he can speak - in case he needs to try making a run for Governorship in any of the eastern states! Shame to the apostles of ethnic politics playing us against one another! Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa et al are Nigerians who deserve to vote and be voted for ANYWHERE in the country. It remains to be said however that it is an unreasonable and unfair thing to do to hit your host community under the belt by playing the ethnic card in election time when you have not been discriminated against in enjoying the dividend of democracy! The obvious attempt by Igbos at doing so in this elections is unfortunate and will only serve a notice on the Yoruba to be wary of the Igbo as a people nursing an agenda to take over their host community. The Igbo must consciously set out to put the Yoruba (their hosts in Lagos) at ease by correcting that impression. My igbo bros are often short sighted. They never think that far when reward is involved. On a related note, the oba messed up big time. The arrogance in his refusal to still apologise is still worrying. I have not seen a more defenseless comment in a long time. |

knowing fully well he did nothing wrong and has the power to stop his arrest is the same way GEJ actually sacrificed his office for peace to be in Nigeria.
U left office for the lives of none northerners living in the north and Nigerians at large.
God will surely bless u and vindicate u GEJ did not lose this election, people conspired to have him rigged out, he ignored them and accepted it.
I dedicate this season of peace to u Sir, peace shall never depart from u, ur home, ur family, ur life and anywhere u step foot on.God bless u and God bless southern Nigeria.
Keep smiling Sir, Jesus loves u, whether they like it or not. U are Mr. President of Nigeria, its on record and they can never do anything about it.Instead, they'll continue killing themselves over nothing.

How does our polity throw up such loutish characters bereft of any decency and progressive thinking is still my biggest issue with Nigerian politics. You think Fayose is a thug, you have not seen Wike.
When I look around and see men like GEJ, Wike, T.A. Orji and even Buhari at the driving seat of our political structure I understand that corruption is not our biggest problem. We have a bigger problem with a system that throws up either the outright mediocre or barely average to lead a nation like ours at such a critical juncture. A leader who rants in public with such divisive words like Wike, is he the type who will lead a state to development? What kind of laws do we expect T.A. to make in our senate? If Jonathan was not completely out of his depth, Buhari would have stood no chance. |

ArcToyin: am not supporting the Oba's utterance but what i deduced was the conniving of the igbos to vote against the ruling party in the state. What Lagos has allowed them to do is beyond what any other states has done for them. Is just like biting off the hand that fed you. You are digging further into a hole. They have not bitten any hand. Politics is about protecting interests. All they have done is use their votes to protect theirs. It happens everywhere. Lagos is doing something seemingly unique on account of its size and economic position in the scheme of things. Not because of the benevolence of its indigenes. Every mega city is same; from new York to joburg to London. |

TheMadame: I am a proud Yoruba mother and I respect our traditions but I must say when I listened to that audio tape I was seriously sad and unhappy with Kabiyesi for his statement to the Igbos. Traditional rulers should be seen to be neutral in politics and even if they have their candidates it should be between themselves and their God. Nobody and I repeat, nobody should force or coerce any one to vote for any candidate so Kabiyesi was bang out of order on this one and he has endangered Mr Ambodes candidature even though I believe Mr Ambode is a better candidate than Mr Agbaje. I voted for General Buhari during the presidential elections but I would never coerce my husband, daughter or son to vote for him because I believe in the free will of every individual. On saturday every one should go out and vote according to his or her conscience. I will still vote for Mr Ambode, but I will never force or curse any one to make him/her vote for him. I think we should let this matter die a natural death and learn to live as one people. Go out and vote according to your free will and whoever wins should be accepted by all, although I am expecting a very close race. God bless you. However, I wish to point out that kabiyesi has form in this subject. He made similar comments when disparaging the gubernatorial ambition of Hamzat while endorsing Ambode. That one was swept under the carpet. Maybe because it was not tribalistic in nature. Ethnic comments do not ire me as I find them silly irrespective of who it is coming from. My grouse is with the utterly biased and partisan nature of the comments. |

ayindejimmy: Pls. That statement was provocative and anyone that watch the video will know the Oba was speaking out of anger. Ifeanyi Ubah was in Lagos last week. Did he visit the Oba to acknowledge him? No. He went and start running his mouth to jimi Agbaje and reading riot act to him. If you're wondering why the Oba can be so infuriated now... It's because he has been pushed to the wall by his supposed guest that are planning to overthrow him. Are actually comparing the conduct of a street thug like Ifeanyi Ubah and a reverred first class King? If the Oba cannot ignore money miss roads like Mr. Ubah then something is wrong with his temperament. I repeat there is no defence for the oba's comments. He needs to apologise by himself and disarm the political jobbers who are scoring cheap points. |
Celebrities › Re: Oby Ezekwesili & Joke Silva Divided Over Oba Of Lagos Igbo Threats by mbulela: 7:08pm On Apr 07, 2015 |
How long will it take the oba to covenant an issue an unequivocal apology with no IFs and BUTs? I don't mean one by an errand boy of his.
A simple but complete apology will suck the air out of the cheap points being scored by ethnic jingoists and political jobbers on account of this saga.
Also, the oba should henceforth learn to talk like a reverred figure he is meant to be. Like I said earlier, joke or no joke, this is not the first time he is making such uncouth comments. |

Imagine what could have assembled together in one boat, men like atiku, obj, tinubu, etc. We all know this fellows can never mean well for the country. So selfish that they can't see..... in short its not even about the selfishness factor these guys are turned demonic, fighting against anything good and progressively positive. Nigerians been short sighted since time immemorial. Every govt is always in debt to those that brought it to power. It is nothing new. The tory govt in the UK is forever in debt to big businesses. The issue is having a strong leader at the helm who is able to steady the creditors and put the masses in the midst of the equation. GEJ was in debt to militants, Edwin Clarke and the likes. The problem was that he was too weak to rein them in. If Buhari proves to be as weak, you and I are free to vote him out. No need for the gyrations. |

Rochas oge elugo. Bia kwado Soludo ka oburu fainansi minista As an igbo man I find this comment nauseating. Politics is a game of game theory and intrigues. You do not purposely strengthen a weak hand. Neither do you reward a lack of support. Why should they reward the igbos with a seemingly powerful position when other regions that supported the party are left with less? If you wanted them to show you love, you should have voted for them. Secondly, the igbos had their sons as deputies in both chambers of the parliment and another son of theirs as the SFG. What good did they get out of it? Enough of this emotional blackmail. These positions only do the holders and their circle of friends much good. |
