alexleo: What I told you was what I experienced. I don't believe in your once saved always saved teaching that's why each time I see myself failing I do the first work which is repentance and pleading the blood for cleansing. Am not claiming that I am perfect but to tell me that when I sin I am still righteous that's where I have problem with you. You can't tell me that if I commit adultery now am still righteous. No.
so your righteousness is tied to your not sinning? How about the sins you do not know about?
Then Christ died a vain death.
In addition you must think very little of the penalty of unrighteousness if you think your morals equate to righteousness.

Every child has to bear fruits in line with the nature of his parent. If you are bearing fruits of the devil and you are the a son of God, then you are not fellowshipping at home. Spend some more time with your papa, talk with him (not just to him)grow your intimacy with him and spend less time fellowshipping with the devil.
However while you are doing this and spending time in order to bear fruits in line with the nature of your Father, remember that you are no less a son of the Father than the Bishop or G.O who is living right and seeing visions every time he closes his eyes.
There need to be a balance.

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

The flesh will never stop desiring to sin.
The true fight of every believer, is the fight to remain in control over the flesh. The fight to Live by the Spirit.
That is the true fight of faith!

1 Cor 9
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
No where have i said that balance is not needed.
It is the lack of balance that makes the message i spoke above needful.
No true believer in Christ will go on sinning and be comfortable in it. It is impossible.
However, sinning does not negate God's love for his Children. Infact the knowledge of that love will drive you far from sin.
God does not love you any better because you do not fornicate or lie.He has loved you with an everlasting love,it is that scandalous and prodigal. But if you know God's love you will want to kill yourself with guilt even before God's wrath comes to you (If you feel comfortable in sin, they you have lost it).
In summary, God's love keeps me from sinning. Not a fear of judgement. If what makes you not sin is a fear of hell, then you are still on a very long thing.

Rubbish. so every other hotel apart from these that you posted up there are not hotels?
Besides, a hotel is much more than a fanciful building. Have you being in any of these and sampled their services? Or you just copied from google and posted it here?

Gsluv: Now to the topic, the reason anyone would be bothered about Grace licensing us to sin or not and then be forgiven is because there's still a crave deep down to sin. they do not understand the depth of God's love.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Distorted Message Of Grace That We Preach by mbulela: 8:43am On Oct 02, 2013
alexleo: I ve always disagreed with people who wants us to believe that once we are saved we cannot be regarded as sinners again even if we sin. They tell us that when someone in grace sins, it is no more counted for him. A lot of misleading teachings here that one should be careful not to fall into. These are the last days and we are warned about false prophets. Pls let's be very careful and prayerful. God hates sin till eternity.
You have a point but you also missed a point.
Sinning is not what makes you a sinner.
Having a sin nature is what makes you a sin.
The sin nature is broken instantly at salvation but living in line with your new nature takes time (based on the cultivation of a close walk with God's spirit and His Word). 1 John says IF we sin,not WHEN we sin. God expects his saints to mature into a life where sin does not dominate their lives.
However, God does not love you any more because you are not sinning than when you sin. His love is everlasting. Nothing, absolutely nothing changes that. His love is prodigal and scandalous. If you grasp a bit of how deep his love is,you will hate sin with every fibre of your being. Not the opposite.

pro01: Do you have proof that IBB stole money while in office? And Abdulsalam? And Obasanjo, and just about any other past or present political or public office holder and private sector crook still alive (apart from the convicted ones that we can count with less than five fingers)?

As long as some of you adopt this deceptive attitude of "show me proof", which is quite insulting to our collective intelligence, then Nigeria is not really ready to do away with corruption. The fact that someone is a smart thief who expertly covers his tracks does not make him any less of a thief.
don't get it twisted.
I am talking about proof that he owns any of the hotels in question.
The thieving issue can be discussed elsewhere.
Travel › Re: Intercontinental Lagos - Tallest Hotel In West-Africa - Launched by mbulela: 1:30pm On Oct 01, 2013
pro01: I think you used the word "businessmen" too loosely. Most of them are criminals who made easy money and want to tie it down in real estate. From the shadowy drug barons in Festac Town, to the bureaucrats in Alausa, to the politicians in Abuja, to the oil industry profiteers in the Niger Delta, to the fraudulent bankers and government contractors nationwide, and all their numerous cohorts collaborators, and cronies. . . .they all have one thing in common - easy money. Easy, ill-gotten money.

This explains what Pat Utomi aptly referred to the "jobless growth economy" Nigeria seems to be experiencing. Too much ill-gotten wealth is circulating lopsidedly in the system, and sadly, these monies are not channeled towards real, value-adding investments that create jobs and stimulate trickle-down prosperity across board. Not when the preferred investment for most of the thieves I mentioned above is hotels and useless luxury real estate projects that add no value to majority of the populace.

By the way, only naive suckers would believe that foreigners or foreign conglomerates would come into Nigeria to tie down their money in Nigerian real estate. Most of the hotels, malls, luxury apartments, etc. parading themselves as foreign-owned are actually owned by shadowy Nigerian rogues - mostly politically exposed persons and their businessmen fronts (notably slimy characters like the Chagoury brothers, for Bola Tinubu). They might as well invest more in productive ventures that enhance the standard of living or quality of life of a greater number of people. If you steal from the poor in order to help the poor, your sins might be forgivable after all. But when you steal from the poor in order to intimidate and oppress the poor with your vainglorious opulence, then a time bomb is waiting to explode.

It just goes to show how selfish and contemptuous of the masses they are to keep investing in luxury sectors to satiate the already over-indulged hedonistic cravings of a mere 0.001% of wealthy Nigerians and expartriates. This country desperately needs deliverance, and I don't mean the T.B Joshua sort.
You make it hard for yourself by using Tinubu as an example.
Any proof that he owns any of these hotels? Besides you make a good point but i still insist that folks will open hotels as long as their is a market for it. I know that it is easier for shadowy characters but that does not mean that proper businessmen are not opening hotels.
I am not a fan of the man, btw.

kabaka1: U know there's nothing like being in ur hotel room n look out thru ur window become enchanted by what u see thru ur window.
Also d scenery people see thru d window of their hotel rooms is one major way that they can feel d soul n spirit of d city they're in.
I agree with you up to a point. The fact is that most of the hotel customers in lagos are here for business and not pleasure,so the scenery does not matter as much as safety and proximity to business centre. They want to be close to the MNCs they are visiting for business purposes so that they are not trapped in traffci and miss their meetings. Besides going back to your hotel room after 9pm meetings is no big deal. Try heading back to your 5 star hotels in those mainland areas after dark.

specco: The looters of our common wealth are investing via some foreign partners. We are not fooled. If the money were gotten legally and through sweat they will invest properly but with easy money anything goes as we see in all the white elephant projects that dot our landscape.
I don't agree with this argument of yours. Do you have any solid proof that this investment is by looters of our commonwealth?
How do you call this a white elephant project? Each and everyone of these 4 or 5 star hotels are bringing ROI and those opening the new ones are seeking counsel from the owners of the older ones and finding out that returns are being worth it. I know folks who try to make reservations in some of these hotels and the occupancy rate and the number of times they are told that they are fully booked, give a clue to how lucrative the biz is.

That is no secret. it is the normal practice. These groups brand and manage the hotels for a fee or a share of the profit. All these hotels re owned by individuals.

Nice edifice anyway! cool
the dumbness of this post is beyond redemption.
Why will you have a five star hotel in the areas you mentioned? five star hotels have to be in close proximity to the potential customers. With most blue chip firms (who are often the corporate customers) located on the island, it makes sense for these hotels to be on the island and Ikoyi. How many five star hotels do you see in Hackney or in Soweto? What has the disparity between rich and poor got to do with a capitalist investment? This is not a govt project.

superstar1: For people that did not hold DM responsible for last weeks defeat, can u see now?

You are just seeing what we saw last week.

DM needs to up his game, he needs to realise he is no more in a mid table team. He needs to ship out his assistants, they can not assist to the next level. They were good enough for a mid table team but definitely not good enough for this level. If he really wants to succeed he needs to change his bench, before going ahead to do a surgical operating on the whole team. Rio should be the. 1st casualty.

CL is not even sure for us.
I can't be bothered to go find the link but i said here in August that 2 things will give me a clue on Moyes future;
1. His backroom staff
2. His moves in the transfer market during the summer

When he kicked out everyone that worked with Fergie and replaced them with his buddies from Everton and displayed total ineptitude and indecision in the market (I know Woodward played a major part but still),i knew not much will come out of this guy's tenure.
I have never identified Moyes with any particular brand of football. As much asi dislike Mourinho, i know what to expect from his teams. You can easily see what AVB is trying to build. Even the spin doctor called Rodgers has an idea about how the game should be played. No need to talk about Ancelotti,Klopp and Pep. After over a decade in the premiership,i have no clue what Moyes is about.
It is very easy to succeed as a mid table manager cos survival is a game plan. However at the top,you need to have a plan. Moyes has to convince me of one. As i do not see it. The players are not the best but he could do a whole lot better with them.

Dude nothing particularly wrong with that line up. Everything wrong with the coaching and the aura of the manager. Look at klopp,he can put 11 part timers in the team and motivate them to play in a particular way and with energy.
Moyes can't be identified with any particular type of game plan. dour look, dour football. I don't care for what the future holds. This man is not just it. The only way it would get different is by throwing money at it. The truth is very few good players will be interested in coming while they have options elsewhere and with managers that can truly improve them.
