idupaul: I read here he was having challenges paying his currentand his son is a senator. |
Italiano1: This is becoming live comedy show from our brothers in the SE.All his children are illegitimate. |
Dan2ike: Why not caution the church, and train them to improve on their sanitation. Why the outright indefinate closure? If it has become the responsibility of the church to clean up oshodi-apapa overhead bridge, markets and streets, why not tell the church? Closing the church without a warning has ulterior reasons. Fashola and his environment commissioner are both muslims, I can see. But, Chosen is blessed, and cannot be cursed. Nobody fights a church and wins. I pity fashola. Chosen is unstoppable. Take it or leave it.Your daftness is almost irrevocable. Only God can intervene in your case. |
spiritfada: A further investigation also revealed that a substantial part of the 1 kilometer church Auditorium was built on the Odo Asimawu drainage channel thereby impeding the flow of storm water, as well as inhibiting effective performance of the channel.Who approved the building of the auditorium? That person should be summarily sacked. If it was not approved, the building should be pulled down. No ifs and buts. Enough of this lawlessness. |
okpara ugo: worst is NCC has refused to regulate data prices in Nigeria...The problem with regulating data prices in nigeria is that,it is not even profitable yet. That is the funny part. |
Iolo: Nigeria comes in the $20 - $40 range which is cheaper than the USA and some other developed countries.so you are actually expecting us to compare mobile data in the US and naija? Have you ever heard of the thing called quality? In my neck of the woods part of lagos,MTN 3G never works. i mean never. Yet i pay for data bundles unfailingly. Once i step into the highway from my hood, mails start dropping like rain from the skies. We have not even started talking about the speed yet. |
I am vry surprised dat Tinubu is whining abt dis idea whether timing or no timing. D Yorubas hav always called 4 dis nd are happy dat d time has come. Dey shld use dis opportunity whether timing is ryt or wrong; dis opportunity may nt come again oooo!
Wait until you see the type of National Conference GEJ will approve. It will just be another talk shop with silly no-go areas that will just submit papers that need to be scrutinized by the NASS and GEJ will claim too be reading its contents until after 2015, like Tinubu rightly asked, how are you sure this one will be any better than all the plenty committees that the president has formed and its results collecting dust in the shelf? In our bid for hope we must not just become gullible. I see no sign that GEJ had a damascus experience so why should you expect anything different? Let us keep watching (or like Bola Ige, Siddon look). |

skotch: Bro which one is MCL nar?... Pls i dey umuahia i wanna knw more about it.Metro Digital. It is in PH,Aba and as the OP said, Umuahia too. It shows more football than you will be willing to watch. |
Scun: you think there is any other thing that makes dstv what it is outside football? How can you be talking like this? Of course they proved it in the two years they did not have the EPL license. They actually increased there sub base in that period. That was when they rolled out all these Nollywood channels. When they were busy doing research and using big data to fuel business intelligence, HITV boss was popping bottles and carrying women in VIPs of clubs in Lagos, when he was not chasing viewing center owners. |

Larry Tay: Lord have Mercy! The year is running to an end and the devil is seeking for more blood to suck! By the Grace of God, no more evil in our land and we shall not weep over any loved ones in Jesus Name (Amen)so the devil does not seek for blood at the beginning of the year? Or is there an allotted quota of blood for the year? |
My apologies for staying away from this subject for weeks. The truth is that I take delight in writing it under inspiration. Just like the experience I got on sighting Dr. Cosmas Maduka’s story in the Champions’ Destiny Force Magazine, published by Yemi Olowodola. After reading many versions of the Coscharis story, it loomed clearly as an illustration of a point we have been making in this series: to everyone, God has given a special gift, which is nurtured over time, through thick and thin, to blossom into success. “The gift and the calling of God are without repentance. Many of us are born as we are into the world but we can also improve on what we are destined to become by sheer hard work and dedication,” he says. Obviously Dr. Maduka’s gift is entrepreneurship. And from a meagre capital of N200 he has built an unimaginable business empire. Today, thirty-six years after he was sacked as an apprentice by his boss for serving the God who gave him the rare gift, he has a visible presence in many key sectors of the economy. The Coscharis Group has several subsidiaries which include, Coscharis Auto Industries Ltd., Coscharis Technologies and Foods Ltd., Coscharis Exports Ltd., Coscharis Securities Ltd., Coscharis Finance and Investment Ltd., etc. Coscharis Motors supplies Nigeria and the entire West African sub-region with roller chain. Coscharis Food and Drug sells medical equipment, and Coscharis Technologies Ltd. is into the sale of computer hardware and software. Coscharis Technologies Ltd. today presents itself as an authorised dealer for major information technology product manufacturers like Compaq Incorporation of America, American Power Conversion (APC), and Epson range of printers. Coscharis Export Ltd. is into the business of export of cocoa and wood to Europe and America to earn the much-needed foreign exchange for Nigeria. Coscharis Finance and Investment Ltd has the primary responsibility of raising funds for the business of the entire group. Coscharis Finance and Investment Ltd. also manages fund for high network individuals. Coscharis Group has an office in Ghana and Gabon and he is exploring the possibility of expanding their business to other West African countries. Cosmas was born to the family of Mr. Peter and Mrs. Rose Maduka in the city of Jos, Northern Nigeria on 24th December, 1958. Unfortunately he lost his father at the age of four. With six children to cater for, his mother had to enlist Cosmas and his brother in the hawking of her products – bean cake “akara” in Nigerian vanacular. The Drop Out The earning from this “family” business was insufficient to pay all their bills, particularly school fees. So young Cosmas had to drop out of school at the age of nine when he was just in primary three. He was then farmed to his maternal uncle in Lagos as an apprentice in the motorcycle parts selling trade in 1970 as the curtains were drawn on the Nigerian Civil War. The account is more touching in his own words: “I lost my father at the age of four and we had only our mother trying her best to raise us. We experienced poverty and I started hawking at the age of six. By the age of seven, I had learnt how to climb and cut palm tree for elderly women and I charged them three pence. I became a breadwinner at an early age. All along, I had a passion to make a difference. I brought the money home to my mother but when she could not cope, she sent me to live with my grandparents. From there, my uncle took me to Lagos to be an apprentice. “My maternal uncle lived at Ebutte-Metta in Lagos and had a store at 88 Griffith Street, near Oyingbo Bus-stop. He took me to work as an apprentice for him, and people laughed at me and questioned what I could learn at my age.” His uncle had no home of his own but stayed with a friend, and Cosmas spent the nights in the store while he went home with the key. “I slept in the shop and I recall some children mocking me on their way to school. They laughed at me for sleeping in the shop but I told myself that I would be better than them in the next six years. “Although I left school at Primary three, I tried to do some research and find out how I could take some parts from a Volkswagen car and fix into a Honda. I was always curious to know which automobile parts could work on another brand. For three years, I worked tirelessly with my uncle and he opened a branch in Jos. I went there to manage it; he opened another one in Sokoto, I was there and I became a born again Christian,” he recalls. The N200 Punishment “My uncle opened another branch in Nnewi, again, I moved there and I became a new personality entirely. I developed a strong passion for God. While at Nnewi at age 14, we had a church camp which I went for and when my boss came on the fourth day to the shop and didn’t meet me, he sent for me and my elder brother that evening and then gave me N200, saying I should go and concentrate on my new found faith. “It was done to punish me, but having known a little about God, I looked at him in the eyes and said, `God hardened the heart of Pharaoh to show His might in the land of Egypt. I served you well, and I don’t deserve this. But if this is what you have to offer me, five years from today, you will be amazed at what you’re going to see out of this.” “So, I teamed up with my brother, who had passed Standard Six, to establish a company called, Maduka Brothers but some months after, we differed in ideologies and parted ways. We didn’t make enough money but I had N316 and someone gave me his shop for free. “I had my first breakthrough when I went to Boulous Enterprises to purchase motorcycle spare parts. I stumbled on a new innovation, motorcycle crash ban, and I bought several and then removed the address of Boulous from the carton so that others would not know where I bought them from. “I sold everything the next day and joined the night bus again to Lagos to buy more. I did that four times in one week and my capital rose from N300 to over N3,000. I settled down in marriage at age 19, and I ventured into importation with the little capital I had. Lo and behold, I received the wrong consignment and therefore, had a serious setback which left me indebted even to my landlord for months. My shop was also locked.” Unbelievable Now this is unbelievable. Desperate for restoration, Cosmas did the unbelievable. He rummaged the gifts he received at his wedding and found something he could use to earn money. It was a weighing scale. He took it around in the market for people got on it to know their weight and pay Comos 10 kobo. It is said that his wife cried when she knew what her husband was going out to do every day. She decided to pick up a job to support the family while Cosmas gradually built up another business capital through the scale. Later on, when he had gathered enough capital, Cosmas teamed up with a friend, David, to set up a company called CosDave. “I formed Coscharis when Dave and I also parted ways due to some ideological differences. Coscharis is a combination of three letter words from my name and that of my wife, Charity. “The real breakthrough came in that same year in 1982 when the Nigerian government decided to grant import licenses to ten motor companies and Coscharis Motors was selected! We’ve continued to expand since then, and we now have several subsidiaries.” Cosmas sums it all up this way: When a lot of people look at me today, they think I was born Coscharis. I believe life is not so much about what happens to you, but about the opportunities and obstacles God puts in your way to get the best out of you.” he says. Wow! A story of resilience, endurance, determination, and above all, God’s favour! |

AjanleKoko: GEJ: Oh pleaseHe does not just look sheepish, he is clueless to boot. When Reuben Abati interacts with his boss, does he not feel like renouncing his PHD? How did this man earn a PHD? Even if it was in Physical Education. This man cannot run a piss up in a brewery. I do not blame him as he seems a nice man at heart. I blame a system that produces such a man at this critical juncture of our growth as a country. |
AjanleKoko: Secondly, Yar'Adua: He had no business being in office in the first place. If he had any integrity, he should have not put himself forward for the job. Then what do we have to say about all that drama leading up to his death?Make Segun Adeniyi catch you, it seems you have not heard that UMYA was God's gift to this country and death denied us a golden route away from our destruction? |
By Chuks Okocha and Aisha Wakaso The breakaway faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wednesday claimed that its membership has swelled with the decamping of five more governors of the ruling party to the group. Although the splinter PDP did not name the five governors that had joined it, if the claim is correct, it would bring the number of governors in its fold to 12. The New PDP said the new governors would join them at their meeting on the next adjourned date slated to hold after the Eid-el-Kabir holiday. Last night, THISDAY was privy to the names of the five governors, but would publish their names when they actually attend the meeting. Currently, the New PDP boasts seven governors. They are Governors Rabiu Musa Kwanakwanso (Kano), Ahmed Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto) and Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers) The seven governors and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, alongside some party stalwarts, had on August 31 stormed out of the special national convention of the PDP in Abuja to form the New PDP. Also, the faction confirmed that the Monday, October 7 meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the seven aggrieved governors would not hold. This is as a result of the Salah holiday, which comes up next week. The president and the governors, had at their last meeting on September 15, agreed to adjourn the next peace meeting to October 7. But the seven governors are said to be seeking an adjournment on the grounds that some of them will be travelling to Saudi Arabia to observe the Muslim pilgrimage. In a statement, signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the New PDP, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the faction said it had sent an emissary to the president seeking a postponement of the reconciliation meeting billed for October 7. The statement said: “This decision was taken last night during the caucus meeting of the New PDP held at the Adamawa State Government Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, during which it was discovered that the date of the proposed peace meeting clashes with this year’s Hajj, in which several of our key members are billed to participate. “Our National Chairman, Alhaji Baraje, and most of our other key members, including most of the G7 governors and the five other governors that have indicated interest to join us by next week, as well as members of the National Assembly, former governors, and business moguls, are billed to perform the Hajj, which is already in operation. “Alhaji Baraje, the progressive governors and other stakeholders performing the Hajj have been mandated to use the opportunity offered by the Holy pilgrimage to pray for the restoration of peace and unity in our great party, PDP, as well as in our dear country, Nigeria.” The group also called off its meeting earlier slated for October 5 because of the Hajj. The faction reassured its supporters and Nigerians of its commitment towards bringing back the glorious days of PDP. It further apologised to the president for the postponement, saying, “We sincerely regret the inconvenience(s) in any form this may cause our beloved president, party faithful and Nigerians, as praying to our God should be the utmost for us, particularly now knowing very well that with God the elusive peace in our party and country can be achieved.” However, the mainstream PDP appeared to be ignorant of the postponement of the October 7 meeting yesterday. Speaking on the crisis that has polarised the party, the National Publicity Secretary of the mainstream PDP, Olisa Metuh said that the party was already engaged in a reconciliation agenda. “We are already engaged in a reconciliation agenda as espoused by the National Chairman (Bamanga Tukur), when he came to the office and we have been touring the country and doing it. “We discussed the efforts and how we can continue. We mentioned our aggrieved brothers and we have left it for the meeting of October 7 to know how best to handle it. “The National Working Committee (NWC) met and we hope that we will be able to achieve full reconciliation with our aggrieved brothers, but this party is bigger than any person or any group and PDP will survive all interests. “This is a national party, the custodians of the party’s administration are ready and capable to handle all matters that affect this party after the peace meeting,” Metuh said. Meanwhile, the Niger State governor yesterday accused the presidency of using money to induce people to foment trouble in his state. Aliyu, who made this know in Minna yesterday the launch and distribution of 50 Toyota Hiace buses to the 25 local government areas under the SURE-P mass transit scheme, said some people from the state have been travelling to Abuja to collect money to make the state ungovernable. “We heard that some disgruntled elements in Niger are running to Abuja to collect money, they should go and collect their share. “Those who are thinking that they can cause problems in Niger because they have collected money from Abuja, we are ready and waiting for them both democratically and security wise,” he said. The governor blamed the prolonged crisis within the party for creating avenues for opportunists to want to make money out of the crisis. “We know that in any struggle or negotiation, when it is prolonged, people begin to capitalise on it and use it as a money making venture.” Aliyu stressed that the reason the aggrieved governors walked away from the mainstream PDP was because they felt the party should not be run like a personal estate. He added that as long as the PDP was not democratic, Nigeria would not be democratic, stating, “If PDP is thriving, Nigeria will reap the rewards and if PDP is democratic, Nigeria will be democratic.” Aliyu thanked the state PDP for standing by him and believing in the struggle for a better PDP. |
As much as i am not a fan of Access bank, this is silly; Sources also confirmed that over 60% of access Bank staff are highly hypertensive and run the risk of heart attacks in their young age. you just pick your nose and come up with silly figures. |
kabaka1: I think u have a good point here, but let me hint 2 u that d definition of pleasure can be very broad, but in this context, let me just limit d meaning of pleasure as something that relaxes or calms u down. Eg, do know that same way that la music track u listen 2 can make 2 feel relaxed/calm or happy, looking at a picture, work of art or landscape scenery can give also give same effect as music or anything that gives u pleasure or makes u to feel calm or relaxed. As a hotel guest,I'll make do with the scenery of V/I and Ikoyi instead of that of Mushin and Surulere. |
kingk: Thanks for your reply bro, please then, can a sinner be righteous? Can a member of another family bear your surname simply because he acts like one of your sibling once in a while? Righteousness is a gift bequeathed to family members when we are born into this new family. It confers legality on family members. A sinner cannot be righteous because what makes you a sin is that you have the sin nature in you. Which is what Christ destroyed on the cross (the devil and his works). What makes you righteous is not that you are cannot sin again. It is that the sin nature has been destroyed and you have a gravitation towards the things of light and not darkness. Righteousness is a gift. It is not a reward. (I am on break o! ) |
Spending too much time on this thread during working hours is a sin on its own. So i wish to continue this discussion after working hours. I repent and ask God for forgiveness (no be only fornication and adultery dey worthy of repentance). #SHALOM to all. |
alexleo: So what you are saying is that if someone that has received salvation falls into fornication, he has not sinned? He is righteous? He is not a sinner? So is there anything like a sinning christian? Na wa for you people o. I disagree.Do you stop being a son of your father the moment you break his laid down rules in the house? And you earthly father's love is rubbish in comparison to the scandalous, unfathomable, everlasting love of the heavenly father. Your right standing with God (righteousness) is not measured by your good works (not fornicating (i actually wonder why this sin is the one always used in these examples)). |
Like someone already stated here, the problem with the gospel of grace among Christians these days is ABUSE. Grace has so been abused by the new generation Christian to the extent that all you need to be a christian is to just say you are a Christian, attend church services/activities, pay your tithes and be a church worker. A "born again" friend of mine recently told me that him committing fornication with his girlfriend doesn't take anything away from his christian life. He said the grace of God overlooks such temptation. And that he will be seeking for self righteous life if he fights such temptation. He even went ahead to condemn another friend of ours as a self righteous guy for being celibate in the name of christ. I gave up!
That friend of yours has no clue what God's grace is. If he did,sin consciousness alone will so condemn him that when he sees his girlfriend, he will run in the opposite direction. After seeing the extent of his Father's love and how scandalous the extent his Father would go for him,I doubt the prodigal son would take the same route he took if given a second chance at lascivious and riotous living. Infact, the prodigal son is still trying to come to terms with his father's love, talkless of basking in his past sin not to talk of continuing in that lifestyle. Far be it for him (the prodigal son) to even attempt to justify it. You friend is on a very long thing. |

. I have no quarrels with him being there, as a SS president is prolly what we need at this time. But the dude doesn't have any special qualities. He just looks sheepish, and seems overwhelmed by the atmosphere. Add some naive petulance to the mix, and that just about sums up GEJ.
