I cant see the photo on this browser. But im sure the OP knows the difference between a keloid and the self limiting maculo papular barbers rash. At least I hope he does. . .

Keloids in this area ususally occur in men with subcutaneous folds of fat in the upper neck at the back of the head. Repeated visits to the barber who usually 'skins' that area causes the hair to regrow into and in-between the folds rather than growing out normally. This results in the skin becoming irritated and after a while the skin begins to treat the ingrown hair as a foreign body. the hypersensitivity reaction causes an abnormal build up of collagen and fibrous tissue to form, hence a keloid develops.
injections of Triamcinolone (steroids) may help shrink it but not permenently, they always seem to return in afew months.
Surgery isnt advisable either as it leaves a nasty scar and it can regrow again.
Silicone bandages could help. But not available in this country.
You could also 'zap' the keloid with a scar reducing and healing frequencies. You can do it yourself at home. Its available here and you begin to see results in 10 days.
In future, i would advise you not to cut the hair in that area to skin level. A 'brother johnson' cut would suit you from now on.

this is the bain in the life of the SCD patient. If your not lucky you die before 25th birthday. If your not lucky u'll survive well into ur 30s fall in love with an AA person whose family will scatter the whole thing for you.
If you really love the guy sit ur parents down and have an objective discussion with them on why you must 'do what you have to do'.
If they still insist, dont go against them and marry him without their blessing, you'll only be setting yourself for big time problems later.
If after that you need to break up with him dnt betray him or immediately start dating another guy. That way you can avoid killing him with grief. He will eventually get over the relationship and move on.
Im only talking frm experiences of some stuff ive seen and frm what close friennds have experinced.

Yes I agree HYDROXYUREA is one of those drugs you could use, its just that we've noticed some patients experiencing an increased frequency in painful episodes while on the drug. This is common with mostly SC genotype.
It works for some but others tend to exhibit a refractory response to it, as most hematologists here have found.

Its always best to for a dr or dermatologist to see the scar in question before recommending a treatment. Depending on type, some scars only require topical steroid, while some injectable steroids. Some require only mild exfoliation, while other require nothing but time to allow them fade. The skin is the largest organ in the body and renews itself every 18 mnths or so. Keloid scars on the other hand may require surgical removal,when steroid application/injection fail, but could re appear again after that.
In any case, your doctor must be able to SEE what u are talking abt.

So dnt just take one Drs word for it, get another opinion. Who knows, he might just be after A HEALTHY KIDNEY. YOUR kidney !
Ive never heard such a thing as/a 'quick transplant' as stated above. Organ Transplantation involves careful preparation ; screening for other diseases, tissue typing etc.
Dnt be caught napping, get a 2nd opinion before embarking on a replacement.

The syptoms you said 'she' was having ie stomach pains, tiredness are not typical of kidney disease. In fact, these symptoms are quite vague and can be brought on by not a few other ailments.
I would suggest you try and get a second opinion, maybe even a third. Kidney disease isnt something you treat like a headache. Its management can be quite a financial challenge.

Im nt a Uk freak, like others are. Theres no big deal abt the place or their ppl or their healthcare for that matter. Still, the care far exceeds that of what obtains here at home.
From my own observation while in the UK you are correct abt the long waits of those in painful crises before pain relief (usually morphine) is administered.
The reason for this is because NIGERIANS ABUSE THE SYSTEM. On very busy nights, especially in some borroughs, hospital A andE
Can get flooded with lots of 'blacks' claiming to be in painful crises. Once these supposed SS patients get a morphine jab they immediately resist admission then abscond.
It turned out that most of these were NIGERIAN HEROINE ADDICTS looking for a free 'hit'. This is wat used to happen previously in some areas around centres like the royal london in east london where you can have a high density of nigerians.
After this a&e policy changed. So new patients were made to wait until some one could take a comprehensive history. If the place is very busy it could take more than a half hour waiting but not quite an hour.

The child in question was actually taken to see a doctor after her failure to establish and maintain eye contact with her parents as well falling short of her developmental milestones for speech, expected for infants her age at the time.

I would never label a poor child autistic, if she hadn't been diagnosed prior.
The child was diagnosed by a paediatric neurologist in Toronto , Canada at infancy. Of course the parents and others were in shock and even denial but the important thing is she's doing well today.
What is it abt the child that isnt typical?I ve only mentioned her social problems, I havent bothered to go into her other cognitive challenges is that why ?

Imagine an 8 yr old crying for 3hrs non-stop, throwing your stuff about and breaking things just because she's upset about something you dnt even know about. If you ask they wnt tell u , if beat them, they wnt say what theyre problem is, the only you can do short of killing them is to be calm, be firm and let them know theyre loved but at the same time let them know theyre seriously annoying you. If you keep up this routine their behaviour becomes more socially acceptable with time. A girl with this behaviour lived in my house for 6mnths but was forced to develop rudimentary social skills, become compliant, lady-like and quite friendly by the time she left.
She's a joy to her parents today.
