If he was so eager to restock our kitchen why did it take him six months to appoint ministers who would help him do the job? Why did he appoint questionable characters like Amaechi into his cabinet? Why has he not sold off some of the 10 jets in the presidential fleet to save some money and help put food on our tables? Why is he restricting his loot-recovery efforts to members of the opposition when a particular politician in his party has almost turned Lagos and nearly all other states in the south-west into his personal cash-vending machines?

Politics / Re: Those Who Supported My Presidency Will Face Trial If Caught In Corruption - PMB by McLuhan(m): 4:11am On Sep 10, 2016
So, as far as this president is concerned, there are no petitions pending at the EFCC against Amaechi and no corruption allegations against Tinubu. Is he suggesting that in spite of the welter of evidence against Dambazzau and Buratai, they simply have no case to answer? Does it mean that Fayose is more corrupt than Tinubu simply because the latter is a leader of the ruling party while the former is still in the PDP? Well, I don't blame Buhari; I blame those who were gullible enough to believe his campaign lies. Even more tragic is the fact that there are people who still believe in the fantasy of his anti-corruption war even when the sheer hypocrisy of it stares them in the face.
Politics / Re: Buhari Lambasts Nigerians, Says Change Isn’t About Economic Progress by McLuhan(m): 4:26pm On Sep 08, 2016
I pity those who hung their hopes for Nigeria's revival on these shameless politicians. There's no need to gloat over what is an obvious betrayal on the part of the ruling party, but I just can't help saying that I saw this coming. When a man who has contested for the presidency of Nigeria for up to three times fails to appoint ministers six months after assuming power, then the obvious conclusion is that he was not prepared for leadership. What amazes me is that many Nigerians still persist in the fantasy that this government will somehow improve miraculously and begin to fulfill its campaign promises. In my opinion, that delusion is the greatest tragedy of the moment.
Politics / Re: Change Begins With Buhari by McLuhan(m): 2:48am On Sep 08, 2016
This government has demonstrated the highest degree of hypocrisy ever seen in politics. Not only has it reneged on all its grandiose campaign promises, it now blames the suffering masses for its own incompetence and failure.

The handwriting is already on the wall. Sooner or later, everybody will read it. By then the professional apologists shall have exhausted their stock of excuses and Nigerians will no longer be willing to listen to the familiar canard about how the previous government is responsible for every problem the world is facing today. For now let the gullible continue to delude themselves.

The Michel Temer, Acting President of Brazil is a professor of Constitutional Law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paolo.
James Michel, President of Seychelles, is an educationist and former college teacher.

John Mahama, President of Ghana, is a historian and communications expert, attended University of Ghana and Moscow Institute of Social Sciences.

Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria, is still trying to produce his school certificate and recently hired 12 Senior Advocates to defend himself against allegations that he doesn't have it.

Politics / Re: Economic Hardship: Nigerians Seek Greener Pastures Abroad - Punch by McLuhan(m): 9:36pm On Jun 04, 2016
Those who were alive in the 1980s can tell you that this was the same economic scenario during Buhari's first (mis)adventure as Head of State. Hardship was a byword in those days. In fact, the poverty at that time was only surpassed by the sheer authoritarianism and meanness exhibited by Buhari and Idiagbon. Nigerians need to pray very hard because the portents are not good at all. May God help us.

May God punish the man who sent soldiers to kill unarmed protesters and pipeline vandals but could not muster the troops to arrest these murderous Fulani herdsmen and prevent their attacks. May Heaven never forgive or forget the double standards and blatant bias being exhibited against the helpless people of Benue State. As those in power have discriminated against the Igbos and the people of the Niger Delta, may history forever judge those rulers as bigots, hypocrites and fraudsters. May the names of those who rule Nigeria with wickedness, hate and vindictiveness be forever covered with ignominy. May the blood of the innocent victims of these atrocities forever haunt those who had the power to prevent these deaths. AMEN. AMEN. AMEN.

Is Buhari prepared to learn? Will he heed the timely warnings and useful advice offered by cool-headed people around the world? I've said again and again that you cannot send the army to kill unarmed pro-Biafra protesters and to crush pipeline vandals in the south-south while turning a blind eye to Fulani cattle herdsmen who have killed thousands of Nigerians in cold blood. Nor can you reduce the budgetary allocation to the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Niger Delta Ministry and the amnesty programme while at the same devoting oil money from the Niger Delta region for grazing reserves for Fulani herdsmen and an amnesty for Boko Haram terrorists. It's called favouritism, double standards, partiality, hypocrisy, injustice, inequity, etc. It is, in short, a form of corruption.

Hypocrisy, shameless hypocrisy of the highest order. Tufiakwa. A man is not corrupt even though his loot is being returned from foreign countries. Yet a man whose only crime is his blood relationship with President Jonathan is today rotting in EFCC detention. No problem. But mark my words: In years to come, Nigerians will look back at this administration as one of the darkest periods in our history. With the benefit of hindsight everything will become clear and nobody will deceive anyone anymore.

Politics / Re: Block Sale Of Warplanes To Nigeria - New York Times Tells Obama by McLuhan(m): 2:09pm On May 19, 2016
Sooner or later, the world will come to realize the true character of this Buhari regime. For now, many seem carried away by the illusion of an anti-corruption campaign, not realizing that the crusade is directed exclusively at the opposition. Through a carefully orchestrated campaign of media hype and propaganda, Nigerians and the rest of the world have been hoodwinked into thinking that this administration is the best thing that has happened to Nigeria since 1914 and Buhari has come to be regarded as the most incorruptible leader since Mahatma Ghandi. People also seem oblivious of this regime's obvious moral failings and its crass hypocrisy as evidenced by its many broken campaign promises, its disobedience of court orders, its shooting of IPOB demonstators, its tepid reaction to the Fulani herdsmen massacres and its association with morally suspect characters like Amaechi and Tinubu. But you can't deceive all the people all the time. So let's wait.

Welcome to the rule of impunity, where people are free to abduct your children and rape your wives but you're not free to express your displeasure. As utterly corrupt and as thoroughly depraved as Goodluck Jonathan purportedly was, why is that we never experienced such an injustice as this?

As usual, a brilliant piece from the Professor. The analogy is quite apt. I have a sneaking feeling that the Buhari administration will turn out to be at once the most promising and most disappointing era in Nigeria's chequered political history. I hope my prophecy turns out to be wrong but at the moment I have no reason to believe it will be anything but true.
Sports / Re: 10 Reasons Why Super Eagles Failed To Qualify For AFCON by McLuhan(m): 4:08pm On Mar 31, 2016
Siasia is NOT the problem. His team played some very exciting and purposeful football. The bitter truth is that Nigerian football has suffered a great deal of instability in the recent past. How can you have three coaches in the course of one qualifying campaign and still hope to succeed? Unfortunately, the NFF will most likely make a scapegoat of Siasia in order to deflect attention from their own meddlesomeness and ineptitude. But Siasia has already proved his mettle by qualifying his team for the Olympics and by his success in age-grade competitions. If Amaju Pinnick were sincere he would offer the existing technical crew his maximum support and retain them for the task ahead.

This is what you get when you elect an ethnic supremacist as your nation's President. We should have known better when Buhari said that an attack on Boko Haram was an attack on the North. If we are waiting for the Patron of Fulani cattle rearers to condemn the killings committed by his own people, we might just have to wait for an eternity.

If you belong to the ruling party you are indemnified against all accusations and blame. Change indeed! May God save us all.
