Buhari always makes superlative appointments. In my opinion, Peterside is by far the most competent person for this job. Nobody else in the Niger Delta, or even in the country as a whole, is qualified to occupy this position. Same applies to the appointment of Ms. Ibim Semenitari as MD of the Niger Delta Development Commission. Above all, these appointees are absolutely incorruptible people, especially since they are proteges of the saintly Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. |

That's what happens when your President is a religious bigot and an ethnic champion. |
Elosky20:Nonsense! Wait till he calls your name and says you're a criminal. |
"Despite these attacks, the Nigerian government insists Boko Haram has been incapacitated." Please define incapacitation for me o. I no sabi book. |
This is true democracy! Who can tell me that Wike is not popular in PH? Who can say that the people of Rivers State preferred Amaechi and his protege Dakuku to Wike? |
I don't understand. Is this not the same Boko Haram that was supposed to have been eliminated by "body language" before the end of 2015? Are we referring to another group of militants? |
temitopeadeyemo:I wish you the best of luck. Let's all hope that publications like the Financial Times and the Guardian, which have said that our current government has no discernible economic policy, are all wrong. Otherwise, the consequences for many Nigerians might not be very pleasant. |
Soon we will realise how foolish we were to believe that a dictator could transform into a democrat or that the economic theories of the 1980s could solve problems in 2016. Let's keep watching. |
Gaskia:God bless you for these insightful comments. It's so ironical that a despot who described elections as a do or die affair is the one now lecturing us about democracy. He even has the effrontery to call for the probing of a man who voluntarily relinquished power, something he himself found very difficult to do! |
A tragedy inside a calamity. |
This is just the genesis. By the time we get to the revelation tomorow, we will we be hearing lamentations followed by an exodus of many false advocates of change. |
This is how they spilt the blood of innocent youth corps members in 2011, calling them baboons and apes. God will disgrace them this time round. Nigerians will have themselves to blame if they vote for a blood-thirsty, Boko Haram-supporting, sharia-advocating Islamist bigot. Whoever does not value freedom deserves slavery. |
Hmm |
These are the people who claim to be saints. I pity those who place their confidence in these change-chanting tricksters. |
When atrocities like this happen, I am reminded of Buhari's infamous statement that "an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the North." May the blood of these innocent voters be on the head of those who sponsor and those who support Boko Haram. |
In what way is this related to today's elections? Misplaced priorities! |
LekinsRibirth:You are a fool. |
Hmm |
Laughter wan kill me die. This is the most hilarious post ever on Nairaland. |
If Patience Jonathan is to be referred to the ICC for "hate speech", to which court shall we report the man who promised to make Nigeria ungovernable or the one who vowed that the blood of boys and baboons would flow if he lost an election? |
Ok |
searching4love:For your info, this lady is from Akwa Ibom. She is not Igbo. And let's stop this tribal hate and bias. |

I will not begrudge anyone their right to endorse a particular candidate. They are well within their rights to do so. What I find annoying is the idea of castigating people simply because they failed to endorse one's preferred candidate. One person might argue, and with some justification, that he or she cannot vote for a man who once condemned an attack on Boko Haram as an attack on northern Nigeria but who now turns around to blame government for not crushing the same insurgents. Another might contend quite vehemently that Jonathan's minority background forecloses the possibility of his return to power. In each case, the person would be entitled to their opinion---which, after all, is the beauty of democracy. For that reason, there is really no need to get worked up and aggresssive, as we sometimes do here on Nairaland, when someone expresses their approval of a candidate who we do not support. |
While these tags are very funny and certainly make for hilarious reading, I must express my slight unease about the stereotypical way this post tends to portray women. And it is almost guaranteed to spark a similarly disparaging post about the male gender. Watch out for a "Hilarious Depiction of Nigerian Guys" by a female forum member. |
0merta:I say it without apology: Islam is the single most violent religion in the world today. In Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, etc, Muslims are killing people for publishing cartoons, for being Christians, for going to school, for all sorts of reasons! It doesn't take a genius to realise that Islam is a very dangerous plague. |
midolian:Nigeria is NOT bleeding. Boko Haram and their sponsors are the ones who are bleeding. And they'll continue to bleed, insha Allah. If you are one of them, I am sorry for you. |
I am only too happy to hear of Okocha's elevation to FA board chairman of Delta State. Boy, that's excellent! Forget the Zidanes, Ronaldos and Peles of this world. While Okocha was active he was my football idol. Till today, I believe this guy is the most prodigiously gifted player ever to kick a ball -- outside perhaps the inimitable Maradona and a maximum of one or two other marvels of the game. Of course, he may have made some mistakes that didn't quite promote his career and he was perhaps unlucky to be black and to play for a country whose football, like everything else, was poorly managed. But I am still his lifelong admirer. Consequently, I am always overjoyed when I hear any good news about my beloved Jay Jay. I wish him well in this particular assignment, just as I do in all his endeavours. Cheers, Okocha! |
