What type of reference? Harvard, APA or Oxford?

Hey guys!

Just a quick question to those who have passed through deloitte recruitment process before especially their consulting role. Pls guys, would there be case interview for those applying to consulting role or just a generic interview (competency base stuff) just as it is for other departments?

Thanks

I am not sure that there is a case interview

APL will be out SOON as the GMD said.. but before then, let me drop an info I learnt about recently from my HR Source.. it has nothing to do with the release but rather with a very weird method applied in correcting the first list..

She claimed that a first list was submitted sometime in October but it was met with disapproval from Top Guns in government causing the initial delays and rancours.. mostly because it was claimed to favour more of the west and south and not enough of the north... According to her, on that day she informed us that the GMD called a very short emergency meeting after the Quiz Event, it was resolved that the list should be modified after which online documentation should follow..

.. she said they (HR DEPARTMENT) consequently proceeded to remove some names from some states in order to balance it by adding some names in order states.. NOW the weird gist is, CAN u imagine the method they applied in choosing the new names that were added... she said that in order to be fast with the selection and to make it fair, they logged into the dashboards of the candidates with high scores that were not selected before, then they checked the number of times each candidate had logged in since the interview and the regularity with which they logged in and from there, they selected over hundreds of new names based purely on how often they frequented their dashboard. when my boss asked her why,, she said since the candidates in question all had the necessary high score, they couldn't pick all, they needed a particular number and so it was down to luck... and for the method, she said the logic was that those who were continually checking their dashboard showed that they were really interested in the job and were eager to know if their status had changed but those who didn't log in oftenly might not care much bout the job..

mehn, I was shocked dat day.. that is how many of us here would be called by luck.. from dat day, I began to believe more in prayers ... people who were not in the original list, see how Fate turned tins around for their favour...... just with a weird reason of logging in to ur dashboard oftenly.. that's it... we wait.

wow, Nigerians, see how they want to spoil good thing.

Anyways, thanks for the material. Just downloaded it few hours ago for a friend who has McKinsey dream. It's indeed a very golden material. Someone can just listen to it before going to sleep or in a bus and learn critical case interview tips.

One question though, the transcripts, are they the same completely with the recordings? Like in the screenshot I attached below , is it exactly what they say in the recording?

Hi, Please i sent a PM

if you still need the LOMS you can send till 12am, an idea came to me regarding making everything fast and automated. so once it's 12am would stop replying the pms for LOMS and collate everything. I think that would be all regarding the LOMS. the self destruct period is 1 hour and everyone included finally would get it overnight

Hi Mosgoon,
Please how do i get a copy of the book ?

I guess you're referring to the tax apprenticeship program. mcpat should be of better assistance in that regard.

Hi Thavybe,

Thanks for the mention.

@Babax200, I don't know if the format will change this year but last year it was an online shl question (much simpler than the GT SHL questions), then an OPQ. The next stage was a physical test at the office - Basic accounting, basic excel usage, basic tax questions , capital allowances viz annual allowance and initial allowance. If successful, you will be invited to a final panel interview.

You can go through the tax apprenticeship thread for more guidance

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your contribution but pls always focus on the question. I asked for an EXAMPLE of "an intangible current asset"....

I would appreciate you give an example

I answered your question stating that intangibles are not current assets.

Assets such as bank deposits, accounts receivable, and long-term investments in bonds and stocks lack physical substance, but are not classified as intangible assets. These assets are financial instruments and derive their value from the right or claim to receive cash or cash equivalents in the future.

Please fellow ACAs, can you help me with an example of an "intangible current asset"?

thanks

Intangible items are long term in nature, one of it's key attribute is how difficult it is to value it since you can't determine its future economic benefit. Thus, making it not to fall under the current assets (ready to be sold, ability to be used within a 12 months period) category.

Happy to discuss a different opinion tho

This is not peculiar to this thread alone, you rarely get much out of threads anymore.

As a green horn, threads of previous recruitments helped in developing my job hunting skills. There is a lot you gain from the stories of other people and the Whatsapp craze is robbing thousands off that.

All these banks and their senior bro, CBN are just confusing Nigerians upandan. One moment u ll hear access bank acquires diamond bank, next, u will hear; we relinquish our international operating license to go national. Which one should we believe sef? Is access bank buying uba outrightly the way nb bought 33 and still retain the brand or are they buying una the polaris bought Skye bank outrightly and change their name...which one una dey?

Let me try to "unconfuse" you.

Skye bank metamorphosing into Polaris, is not a deal rather it is one of the ways the CBN and NDIC have developed in saving distress bank and eventually depositors money. Hence, Polaris is a Bridge bank and did not arise from any deal.

Access acquiring Diamond on the other hand is an acquisition, where one firms takes over the activities of the other firm for a token. It necessarily does not mean the bank was performing poorly. There are a thousand and one reasons why an acquisition would take place.
