Story!!!

If corruption is not purged out of the system and out of the mind of the people completely, the president must still have a say in who becomes the Inec chairman, whether directly or indirectly.
It's a long walk to success in any country. We don't have to maintain status quo because of such fears or do we?

At least let's start it first before condemning it already or tell me what is wrong with same?

That Uwais report is indeed key to our electoral reforms. President's should no longer appoint the head of INEC.

I see people that mean business.

I really don't know what happened to Barcanista. Although he is trying so hard to give me reasons to disrespect him, I still would give him that respect as some of his works was what converted some persons to progressives.

I don't write off people like that, I still believe he can CHANGE.

Your last sentence was an error. There is nothing big about someone that gets his sense of importance from an anonymous online forum dominated by teenagers that lack the capacity for critical reasoning and logic. This is actually who he is, an ethnic bigot that thinks his lack of true success in life is due to some imaginary enemy in opposition or a section of the country. Na where to chop hin dey find.
My guy if you had known Barcanista earlier and seen his works, you would know things went wrong at a point. He used to be focused on the Nigerian Project.

Even now that he changed direction, when he want to be constructive and critical in criticising, I appreciate his write-ups. There was one bordering on true Federalism and I respected that work. It's just that many a times he goes off the cliff lately.

My advice to Barcanista is, if you feel embarrassed retracing your steps; then stay in the opposition but be CONSTRUCTIVE in criticising.

The truth is BITTER! If you can't fault my points then you need to allow me space. You think you can do something without reference to the law? You think you can reduce number of Ministers without amending the part of the constitution that says a minimum of 36 Ministers? You need knowledge!
Barcanista that is the reason Executives lobby. NA wanted to separate the office of the AG from Minister of Justice, Jonathan opposed it and today the NA has dropped that bid.

That is the reason the govt formed liases with members of its party to push forward his demand and make his administration a success.

I never believed i'd ever say this to Barcanista but today I would "GUY TRY GET SENSE."

Barcanista is a disappointment. However ego problem will not make him accept he towed a wrong route. Now he finds it difficult to applaud something good. Ask him why exactly would EFCC and ICPC, NDDC and Ministry of Niger Delta etc be operating differently when in essence they aiming at same thing. At the end thousands of ghost workers are still in these ministries.

Nigeria needs serious fundamental cleaning up esp. It's civil service. Barcanista even if your ego won't allow you see good in Buhari for falling your hand at the last minute, criticise him constructively and applaud when necessary; you are bigger than what you making of yourself.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Government To Merge All These Agencies!!!- Iiedgenews.com by mcquin(m): 10:40am On May 18, 2015
Barcanista you need CHANGE!

For heaven's sake are these not some of the things Nigerians are clamouring for?

Have we not been complaining about the cost of governance?

Have we not been complaining about too much bureaucracy in govt?

ICPC and EFCC what are their functions that they can't be merged?

Ministries having Ministers and Ministers of State, what for? Oh so because people will lose employment, govt should continue with Recurrent expenditure taking large chunk of Budget?

What happens to re-investing these extra-funds in Power which will in a long run increase private jobs? What happens to investing such in manufacturing and sciences to increase indigenous production and then employment.

Guy since you jumped ship , you becoming more ANTI-NIGERIA. You need JESUS plus CHANGE. *spits*

Shaking hands is nothing.

I'm sure when he went to the UK he was shaking hands with whoever was put in front of him, including women.

I'm glad that his wife has come and spoken out against one of a number of barbaric practices that some people elect to cling to but it's interesting that she was speaking to an international audience. Why did she not give that same speech in northern Nigeria where it really needs to be heard?
In any way you look at it, both have distanced themselves from their cultural wrongs. Buhari shook oshiomhole's wife. Na abroad en de do am?
Buhari's wife could also have avoided making such remarks if she wanted.

Buhari has never come out against these barbaric practices before, why would you think he would do so now? Before the recent elections the only issues that he made noise about were Sharia law and that the Federal government should not use force to deal with Boko Haram.

It's a pity that some people cannot see how destructive some of these 'cultural' habits are.
1stly he shook hands with a lady; his wife has come out to condemn Child-marriages; is that not sensitizing these people? Una go hate person no see the good en de do.

You can as well disregard me without throwing insults. That is a sign of weakness.

Sometimes people talk like "Men were made for the law". Let me tell you, the law is made for man and not vice versa. Any law that doesn't reflect to the wishes of men shall must either be reviewed via the law or via the people. Because my people are minority doesn't mean we will fold arms while the so-called majo®ity plunder our resources and call us "thieves when we seek to make living from our own resources". Inasmuch as I don't advocate for bunkering, I won't be ignorant of the fact that people choose to bunkering because the proceed of the "legally" Éxplored crude don't get to them despite they paying the economical, social and environmental price. Just as slave trade was immoral, unjust and fought to standstil, just as colomialism was fought to standstill despite it being "legal" in the eyes of the law as at that time, just as the blacks in SA fought against the "legal" Aperthide, so shall the people of the SS/SE fight for justice and end to this fraud that is backed by the law.
Barcanista go fight for it to be legal before coming on NL to feign ignorance that the law stands.

Until repealed, advice those clowns to stay off govt property.

Ÿou can't hide behind the law to rob people of their common wealth. That is unacceptable anywhere. Our representative at the parliament can't change anything because they are in the minority. I once did an article on the inequality and injustice in the system. What is in my backyard belongs to me, because I bear the consequences associated with exploration and it has cost me a lot up to livelihood. In a saner country, a constitutional conference of ethnic nationalities would have been called pre-1999 and the resolution will then go through referendum before it is adopted as constitution. I always say that our system is fraud-friendly hence, must [be discarded/reviewd. Anyway, we sgall continue to demand for justice and referendum whether the Nigeria state like it or not.
Barcanista, you know the road to ND. Go take( not thief o) the oil; call police tell them say you take your oil and so it is not illegal as na your own. Tell them say any law against bunkering is illegitimate as it is not people oriented.

Nonsense! Talking about your reps. Why dem no 1st raise the issue at least, so we take judicial notice they raised it at all.

Rubbish, dude i'll now disregard as I see you now support illegality as you are the other side. Talk about bad influence.

NB: minority will have their say but majority will always have their way.

barcanista:
In Monarchical societies, the system of governmet (Mornarchy) is generally accepted by the people eg UK. There is no law in Nigeria that make room for Military dictatorial rule. In fact, coup'd tat is criminal and attracts death penalty if unsuccessful. It is unfortunate that our society/greedy politucal class elect to legitimise decrees made by juntas even when such decree does not in anyway meet the people's demand. Pls stop comparing junta decrees with edict of monarchs. Though the land is act is binding on everybody in the face of the law, but immoral and unacceptable because it is against the people.
Barcanista don't let me lose the little respect I have for you, I might be the last man who still have little of that.

The legislators we have, were they elected?
Who elected them?
Do the indigenes of ND not have reps in the NA?
Was the decree not before the NA before it was adopted?

At least you admitted it is binding, if so stick with it and educate that clown that a bad law remains law until repealed.

If you need a referendum on the matter, call for it; but till then, it remains the property of the FG and anyone that touches it is a criminal.

Barcanista approach the law as it is and not how it ought to be.

barcanista:
The Land Use Act Decree is not a product of consultation neither did it go through parliamentary consideration. Despite the toga of legality that it carries, it still remain illegal because it doesn't represent the wish of the people.

We need referendum
Till you get a referendum, will you tell that clown that it binds him. Law is viewed "as it is" and not "how it ought to be". Let's not go into the Jurisprudence of law.

In autocratic societies, laws are made without imputes from no one. Kings make laws by declarations in Monarchies and it stands; it binds you so long as it remains a law whether you like it or not.

The Land Use Decree as you call it was adopted by the National Assembly and was debated on the floor before they decided to adopt it; it binds you till its repealed.

Barcanista I respect you, pls do not mislead people here as it would further reduce your image that was once respected by all.

I still hold you in high esteem though.

Any constitutional law that do not have the peoples backing is not different to a decree

Olodo

If that law is not accepted by the people , forget it.

Now ask yourself if the law is supported by the Nigerdeltans. cool
You need not like a law before it binds you. There is a law against stealing, criminals like you don't like it but it still binds you.

Good Lawd. I quit, no need enlightening you any further. Go read up Austin's works on "Law."
I need not tell you you are discussing with a lawyer, if your head still too dull to get the drift up there, call Barcanista, at least he's one of the most enlightened PDP agents i've seen here, although lately he's becoming a clown(bad company anyway...evil communication they say...)

Dont go saying what you dont know, simply because you think you are doing your APC a favour. In most developed part of the world, even here in Nigeria,we have had times when core Technocrats were sourced from everywhere in the world without being affiliated to the so called party.
When OBJ invited Dr. ngozi Okonjo Iweala,Dr.Oby Okwesili,El-Rufai,also Nuhu Ribadu and a host of others to come and help restore Nigerias economy, they were non PDP members as at then but these people were recommended to OBJ by Nigerian diaspora community.Nuhu Ribadu was recommended by Atiku and then he wasn't a party man.We all witnessed how these men performed their duties to Nigeria judiciously. All i see in the APC list above,is a man trying very had to pay back his party men,the same old politicians who contributed in plundering the common wealth of Nigeria, are being rewarded in the most anticipated 'change'.....just hope the list is not true.
