Just like we are too tiny to notice the curvature of the earth surfaces (so we imagine it as flat while standing on it) so too are we too big to notice the changes at a micro level.

If you tap the wall beside you right now slightly, there MUST and IS a slight vibration induced by that slight tap of your finger but you are too big to notice such miniscule change.

But that doesn't mean there wasn't any Change there was and no approximations can erase that in actuality..
Yeah, a smaller organism like an ant would notice that change. Brian Greene once pointed that when we observe a thread, we see a seeming one dimension, whereas an ant can navigate the 3 dimensions of that thread. Just like rats hear ultrasonic sounds.

I think so too. The difference is only at the quantum level.

Yes I know physics. But then, it's obviously negligible. Approximating to couple of decimal place will give equal value.
In quantum physics you're not permitted to approximate. Quantum change no matter how negligible in the macro world is still change albeit.

Yes, in theory it does make it heavier, albeit negligibly. Do you know physics?

I didn't make any statement in the op. I just asked a question. What do you disagree on? That the soul can be thought of as energy or that increase in energy is equivalent to increase in mass?

Em... Ok... Not photons.

There will be a slight change in mass, but the difference in weight would be so small and nominal
Yeah. I think about it this way: Stored data leads to increase in energy, which is actually an increase in mass according to Einstein's equation (E=mc²). Thus the weight increases, though negligibly. So small would be this change in weight that even the most sensitive balances will not detect it.

The question is clueles and lacks logic reasoning. Its like asking if u can weigh a dead body and a living body with a soul.
You're clearly not thinking scientifically about this. Of course, if the soul is thought of as energy, then a body with a soul would have more mass than a soulless body and would thus weigh more.
Think E=mc². Mass-energy equivalence.

Geniuses are borne not made. Ayodele Daniel Dada (the
student who broke record in the University of Lagos by
scoring 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average CGPA) did not
wake up one morning to score those straight As. We are
told that his UTME score was so high that his result was
withheld. Consequently, he had to go through diploma
course. Which of these so-called First Class students from
our private universities scored equivalent of straight As in
their secondary school exams, and which of them scored
anything close to 280 in their UTME? I doubt the honest
ability of our private universities to transmogrify ordinary
students with ordinary SSCE and banal UTME results into
overnight intellectual superstars.
Well, first class graduates aren't necessarily geniuses, and I don't see a lot of them laying claim to the genius status just by virtue of the grade they graduated with. So, people should change their mindsets about first class peeps being geniuses.

@ the bolded, people do change. They do improve academically. Some first class graduates didn't do too well at high school level. Some were even average or poor students, but at a stage, they took conscious decisions and made efforts to improve. The fact that they only improved later doesn't mean they do not merit the results they graduated with.

With people like you, Nigeria is hopeless. You hate someone for being upright? Later you'll be making noise about politicians and corruption. Where do you think it all starts from? A young person who has no qualms with bribing invigilators and getting help in waec today, will have no qualms looting the state treasury tomorrow. Funny thing is that y'all go to church and mosque and make pretensions to being the paradigm of righteousness, but you have no qualms involving unabashedly in exam malpractice. First, I'll like you to know that you're doing the right thing. Big ups to you. This is Nigeria though, and corruption is so very pervasive here. Those who you're going to report to are corrupt too, and you might just end up falling victim. Exam malpractice has been deeply entrenched in the Nigerian system even before you were born, and sadly it won't change now that you're writing waec. So, ignore them and keep burning your candles and writing on your own. You will reap the benefits. Forget about those who are being assisted now. Carryovers await them in the university.

Christianity EtcRe: Question For The Atheist And Evolutionist by McSterling(m): 2:10pm On Apr 03, 2016
ElCount:
first of all whatever evidence you think you are observing in the lab is micro-evolution no one has any qualms with that fact, it is true and observable the evolution attached to it is just meant for deception to deceive gullible minds like yours because when they attach the time factor that's when they tell you macro-evolution will occur which till today has no proof whatsoever.
So, your brain doesn't tell you that in the long term, these little changes will sum up into a large one? Simple mathematics: If we continue adding a small decimal like 0.00000001 to say 2, it will gradually approach 2.1. There's an adage which I'm sure you know: little drops of water make a mighty ocean.

Secondly, the layer of sedimentary rocks you are talking about alongside the fossils is the geologic column. For your information that was assembled artificially by geologist and even at that its still not complete, you will think someone who claimed to be enlightened as you do would know that, I am not going to go deep into that but I will just ask you:
How did you know for sure that the Jurassic rock layer for instance is 70million years old, how did they arrive at that figure?
I don't know what you mean by artificially. Do you think geologic columns are inferred without evidence? Nature has already done the assembling. All we have to do is observe and infer. It is from these observable strata that we make inferences about geologic columns and section geologic time into Eons, Eras, Periods and Epochs. Ever heard of the
Grand Canyon? The ages of these layers and the fossils found in them are estimated from radiometric dating, I'm sure you know. They aren't precise values as they come with error margins, but they do give us an estimate which cannot be too far from the exact value. For example, carbon dating has been observed to correlate with historically dated documents.

and how come in the geologic column if it was actually formed over millions and billions of years as they claim, how come there are no traces of erosion, don't you think the rain would have left some marks? Learn to ask the right questions.
There is a phenomenon geologists call "unconformity". It is a break or hiatus in the deposition of rocks. Sometimes this hiatus is marked by an erosional surface, sometimes it isn't, depending on the rapidity and mode of deposition. So, actually there are traces of erosion in layered rocks.
I don't know what you mean by more complex fossils I personally don't believe in that. the Trilobite is considered an index fossil by the evolutionist and very ancient, how is it that such an ancient organism ended up with one of the most sophisticated eyes ever known? Perhaps you didn't know about that
By complexity I mean the level of organism development or sophistication. You find less sophisticated organisms like
trilobites in lower layers, and more sophisticated ones like mammals in upper layers which correspond to later times in the geologic time scale. If trilobite's aren't ancient, why are they found several layers below in the Paleozoic Era while hominid fossils occur many layers above in the Quaternary? Why the huge gap?
Thirdly, DNA sequencing doesn't tell you anything about ancestors that's one atrocious logic common with evolutionists. The Niger bridge and the third mainland bridge are both made of iron, therefore the Niger bridge is an ancestor of the third mainland bridge that's how ridiculous you guys sound.
If DNA sequencing should tell you anything its the fact that "a common designer is involved who decided to use thesame sequence".
The bolded is blarney. Are bridges or iron organic? Have you observed bridges begetting young ones. Very crude and vacuous analogy there. Assuming a designer only raises an infinite regress of questions. A designer who is outside the universe is beyond the scope of science. For that designer to be within the scope of science, it would have to be testable or observable. Since this isn't the case, it becomes non germane to our purposes. Occam's razor mandates that we cut it out. Science leaves that to metaphysics.

Scientist can believe whatever they want they are the ones coming up with the theories to avoid the God question so if they don't believe their theory who will.

The Catholic church believes in micro-evolution which is a proven truth.
The Catholic Church doesn't distinguish between macro or micro evolution. Here is what they say:

Concerning biological evolution, the Church does not have an
official position on whether various life forms developed over
the course of time. However, it says that, if they did develop,
then they did so under the impetus and guidance of God, and
their ultimate creation must be ascribed to him.
Concerning human evolution, the Church has a more definite
teaching. It allows for the possibility that
man’s body developed from previous biological forms, under
God’s guidance, but it insists on the special creation of
his soul. Pope Pius XII declared that "the teaching authority of
the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present
state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and
discussions . . . take place with regard to the doctrine of
evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human
body as coming from pre-existent and living matter—[but] the
Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately
created by God" (Pius XII, Humani Generis 36). So whether the
human body was specially created or developed, we are
required to hold as a matter of Catholic faith that the human
soul is specially created; it did not evolve, and it is not
inherited from our parents, as our bodies are.
While the Church permits belief in either special creation or
developmental creation on certain questions, it in no
circumstances permits belief in atheistic evolution.

You'd notice the definite position on "human evolution". I suppose that is what you'll call "macroevolution".

Finally, take your own advice, the internet and all informations are at your fingertips make good use of them and stop paddling a boat in ignorance. Ask the right questions. You guys are the ones to always claim to be smart and enlightened but when you start talking ignorance starts oozing out of all your orifices
Calm down. Why the constant allusion to atheists claiming to be smarter? Do you feel intimidated by atheists?
Christianity EtcRe: Question For The Atheist And Evolutionist by McSterling(m):

Oga you go and do you homework, evolution has no evidence not to talk of overwhelming, you guys claim to know it all and are the smarter ones yet all ur arguments reeks of contradictions and fallacies, believe me if I begin to ask you questions on that theory you won't be able to answer one and will as usual resort to ad hominem. No make me pour the vex of my team wey loose match on you this night mtcheeeew!!!
You are pained, eh? Evolution has no evidence, yet it can be observed on a small scale in the lab. Why isn't Fleming's penicillin used to treat malaria today? Of course the causal organisms evolve new ways of combating the medicine, and thus there must be continued medical research in order to beat it. Evolution has no evidence and yet we observe layer upon layer of sedimentary rocks housing fossils in an increasing order of complexity from bottom to top. Never do you find a more complex fossil below a simpler one. NEVER! Evolution has no evidence and yet the genome of organisms derived from DNA sequencing tell us all organisms descended from a common ancestor and speciation only occurred as time passed. Evolution has no evidence and yet reputable scientists the world over believe in it. Evolution has no evidence and the Catholic Church acknowledges it. Evolution has no evidence and many believers who are also scientists believe in it and have sought ways to reconcile it with scripture. Evolution has no evidence and Christian apologists argue that god directed the entire process of evolution.

But really, why should I take you seriously? With the internet and all the information at your finger tips, you have wilfully chosen to wallow in ignorance. In the 21st century, you say something as vacuous as, "there is no evidence for evolution". It is your prerogative though. You know nothing, John Snow.

Perhaps many of you don't know this but Hitler was an atheist and he believed very much in the Big bang and evolution dud. One ideology that propelled his actions was that "The jews hadn't evolved properly and he had to apply natural selection to eliminate them lest they contaminate the German gene"
Now going to the evolution theory you will find out that his ideology was in place and according to the theory no one can really fault his actions. One can confidently say that this theory played a major role in the second world war because of Hitlers' stance on eliminating the weaker species. This same ideology was also shared by many whites during the slave trade era (even Charles Darwin was a racist).
My question is how would you feel if someone considers you a lower specie to other humans and goes ahead to treat you like a piece of junk with this theory backing his actions owing to the fact that you have also defended this same theory for the better part of your life?

I mean if Hitler and Darwin were alive today they would have thought less of you and likened you to a weaker specie based on this theory and here you are defending this same theory which is an obvious lie and unproven in every respect
Oga, Hitler wasn't an atheist. Even if he was, how does that affect the theory and fact of evolution? You want us to dismiss a theory for which there is an overwhelming body of evidence because one psychopath chose to use it to further his genocidal aims? Hitler also used the antisemitic writings of the reformer Martin Luther to justify his pogrom. Why don't you dismiss Luther and the reformation then?

Next time, do your homework well before coming here to spew drivel.
Christianity EtcRe: Questions For Atheists (all Atheists Please Come In) by McSterling(m): 6:56pm On Mar 31, 2016
My obsession with god and religion led me down the path of atheism. I became born again at an early age and my life began to revolve around religious stuff. I had religious meetings to attend almost throughout the week. I also began to read the bible and lots of religious books. Some of these books introduced me to men like Voltaire and Gibbon, who were portrayed in bad light.

As I read the bible daily, I began to have problems. God seemed so malevolent and regarded malevolent humans as dear servants of his. He also clearly showed favouritism. I sympathized with several people killed by God in the bible. I began to get perplexed as it became clear that god did things I couldn't do, and I was supposed to be totally depraved and he infinitely good. Also, I began getting worried about prayer. It didn't work. It was hard to admit, but I later summoned up the courage to admit this. I began to think, "look at the world. would it be any different if there were no god?" As far as I saw, the world seemed devoid of god. Things were ordinary. Nothing special or supernatural in everyday life. I then concluded that there was no god in my own life. I called myself agnostic. I thought atheism was too extreme. With time, I realized that my agnosticism meant atheism. I didn't believe because I didn't know.

So, that's my story in brief.

This is an incredibly ridiculous excuse for shunning Ravi.
He s quite clear that is hypothetical on the prologue. Then am pleasantly surprised that you know the contents of his book enough to critique it yet you never went beyond the prologue....

Did you get this far?
But why do I begin to address a work as serious- minded as that of Harris with an imaginary scene like the one above? Because realities that are far from imaginary are enveloped in this story, and I wonder what Harris would say to those possibilities.

He may argue that the grief his book may cause families such as this one is justified and even nec- essary sometimes if the young student in the story and others like him are going to stop believing and living a lie. Does this sound familiar? He may well justify any amount of grief to any number of people because of an insistence that the value of his “truth” is greater than the destruction of a family. But to do so raises a huge question, doesn’t it? If in the microcosm of this one little episode Harris were to justify the devastation he has caused for the sake of what he sees as the truth, why does he deny God the same justification for allowing suffering in all of the intricacies and possibilities of a lifetime?
Harris isn't omniscient and omnipotent now, is he? If he had those qualities, he sure would obviate the need for such "devastation" and wouldn't need to justify anything. But your god, he has these qualities but still needs people like Ravi to compare him with another human like Harris, in order to justify his misdeeds. Like l hinted before, this fictional story betrays Ravi's true feelings, what he'd love to see everywhere where someone became an atheist. I actually thought this book would contain some new argument I had never seen before in defense of god. That's why I left the serious books I was reading to look at it. But disappointedly, it contains the same trite and flawed arguments that have been refuted time and time again by atheists. The unique thing with this author however, is how he often appeals to emotions in order to blackmail his readers. And this guy seems to have personal issues with Harris. He seems intimidated by the man and his influence. I'd like to see the two have a one on one debate.

For the nonbelievers here who haven't read the book, you might just want to take a peek. It's an easy read actually, I'll give it that, but it lacks substance and is rife with trite assumptions and will leave you shaking your head several times. I don't regret reading it though. Coincidentally, a friend tried introducing me to Ravi yesterday, but thanks to vooks, I'd already met him.

Thank you. Please share your thoughts on the same as soon as you are done.
I was disappointed by the way the book started in the prologue. A child becomes an atheist and so his family begins to fall apart, and his pious christian mother commits suicide. How absurd. The pious mother is so distressed by something as trivial as her son losing his faith (granted it isn't trivial to her), that she ends up violating the tenets of the faith herself as a solution. And the fault isn't the parents' who weren't mature enough to handle the situation as adults but allowed their family fall apart because of a single black sheep. No, the fault is the atheist's. Then he goes on to tell us this story is fiction. Here, Ravi betrays his true feelings. He would definitely love it if this macabre fictional story of his played out in every home where someone became an atheist. For that would at once prove his point that atheism is detrimental. But thankfully, this isn't the case.

He then accuses Harris of appealing to emotions. Tell me, if the fictional tale in his prologue isn't an appeal to emotions, then what is it? In fact, he ends the book with another appeal to emotions.

His arguments are the same generic apologetic ones atheists are familiar with. How morality is the exclusive preserve of the Judeo-Christian god. How man is incapable of building a moral framework because man is totally depraved. He then cites examples to show man is inherently evil. He ignores cases that appear to prove otherwise. He keeps rehashing bromides and tries to convince his reader that Harris is such a terrible person.

I stopped expecting anything serious from this book after reading that prologue. I've read better christian apologetics than this. C.S Lewis comes to mind.

BTW, I thought this book was a response to "The End of Faith", judging by the title.
