Daeylar: I don't know about being moral because bringing a child into this world is very serious so it has to be a decision dependent on the people who will be responsible for the child and not on what others who don't have the responsibility to care for the child think is right or wrong.
I'm for abortion for but then I think, won't the woman just use it as an excuse to keep getting abortions, it's irresponsible for someone to get over 4 abortions when a condom isn't that expensive or you could take birth control pills or something, but then I think again, what is my business?, is it my body? Will I carry the baby or help take care of the baby? Will I take care of the child forever? Isn't it better for a baby to be aborted then to be born to parents who don't want them, the effects of such are seen in the society today.
Then I get confused and ultimately decide to be neutral.
By the way, I'm not interested in the views of the "hyper religious Nigerian society," who are only religious when it benefits them and become bloody hypocrites when it doesn't. Interesting input. I don't support indiscriminate or frequent abortions either. |

Deicide: Who speak on behalf of the sperm and ova during menstruation? wet dream? who speaks for the fetus during a miscarriage?
@OP the woman made the decision to go into unprotected sex with her lover that decision she made she should be able to take responsibility for it so I don't agree that abortion should be done in this case though am not Pro-Life and it also depends on the law of the land. What I had in mind actually is a case where it happened by accident to perhaps a married couple. I don't in anyway support careless sex and frequent abortions. That won't be good for the woman too. |
Christianity Etc › Humanists And Freethinkers: What Are Your Thoughts On Abortion? by McSterling(op): 3:38am On Oct 01, 2017 |
I remember reading a debate online between two atheists on the subject of abortion. Richard Carrier argued for abortion while a certain brilliant lady whose name I can't recall argued against. Quite an interesting debate.
For me, I think the final choice on abortion lies with the woman whose life is actually on the line. And I do not regard it as murder as many are wont to. Provided the pregnancy is still quite early and the woman doesn't want to bear it to term for obvious good reasons, then it's fine. That's better than bringing a child into the world when one knows one isn't quite ready, no? My views on this are obvious taboo in the hyper religious Nigerian society, and would seem to contradict my stance on humanism.
Well, as a humanist, do you think abortion is immoral? |

I've completed my online application to uniben COE. I understand there are documents I would have to include to complete the application but the site doesn't clearly state which documents.
Does anyone have an idea how UNIBEN COE does their thing? |

Voice234, I'm hoping to apply to uniben coe. Would it be wise to include in the ptdf Google form that I don't have admission yet while still hoping to get into coe uniben this year? Or should I say I have admission and include coe uniben in the form? |

Olawales93: I'll advise you go for CoE UNIBEN instead of the CPG UNIPORT as it is more recognized in the industry. Moreso, I heard the application is still on. Thanks, bro. Only engineering guys are eligible to apply to IPS, no? |

Voice234: your pin, name, msc or phd and if you have admission, the school and course. If you don't, ptdf is in partnership with some of the best institutes in the country (IPS UNIPORT, COE UNIBEN, Offshore Technology Institute UNIPORT, AUST Abuja, CGRP UNIPORT etc ) and ptdf will be of assistance in fast tracking your admission into these schools How reliable is your info on fast tracking for those without admission yet? |

Olawales93: For this year's admission; IPS UNIPORT has already conducted screening and successful candidates have been shortlisted. IPS UNIPORT is the best and most competitive but if you can't wait for next year, try applying to COE UNIBEN, AUST Abuja, CPG UNIPORT, CGRP UNIPORT, OTI UNIPORT. They also offer good programmes too! Thanks. I actually meant Centre of Petroleum Geosciences uniport. Learnt it's under IPS. Which would you prefer between CpG uniport n coe uniben and why? Thanks. |

DMainMan: For LSS scholars , I will advise you to go for top schools in which PTDF has partnership with as stated by Voice234. Most of this schools are being run by oil and gas companies with no strike. School fees is above million which PTDF will pay.
Do not go for OAU, Unilag e.t.c Got the email too. I'm considering IPS uniport and Shell Centre of Excellence uniben for MSc in Petroleum geoscience. I also don't have admission yet and I'm yet to apply to either of these schools. Would it be wise to include in the ptdf form that I haven't secured admission while still hoping to apply to IPS or COE uniben for admission into this year's program? Is ptdf likely to make arrangements to accommodate this? And which do you think is better? IPS or CoE uniben. |

UyiIredi: I have never once believed in Darwin's theory and its modern form, the neo-Darwininan theory of evolution. I think it is total nonsense and an abuse of one's intellect to accept it. Really Maybe you still have some reading to do. Deism puts reason over special revelation which is what distinguishes them. This would seem like a contradiction. If, as I presume, you still favour creationism over evolution, does it not connote putting revelation over reason? |
Christianity Etc › Re: I Am Now An Open Deist by McSterling(m): 7:18am On Aug 07, 2017 |
UyiIredi: You don't need to be a theist to believe in God, hence deism. Is deism not a form of theism? Or do we define theism as belief in personal/anthropomorphic gods alone? BTW, what are your thoughts on the theory of evolution now? |

Maybe this is a direct result of the questions being all over the internet before they were to be written. Seriously exam malpractice in Nigeria has risen to another level. It's terrible. Many politicians were studious as students but "fantastically corrupt" today.Makes one wonder what the "leaders of tomorrow" who can't pass waec on their own will be like when it's their turn. |
