I think it's simply an indication of the bond you both shared while he was alive. You perhaps still think about him and that's understandable. I've been having a similar experience about a school colleague who passed away late last year. I'm not bothered by it though. I'm only sad about his early death. Might be because of my perception of death.

I don't subscribe to dreading the memories of loved ones once they die. I see death as a debt we all must pay. We are all under a death sentence, only some have to die before others. In the end it makes no difference who died first. Memento Mori.

The Bible gives the impression that God isn't omniscient going by some of his actions and reactions e.g. regretting that he made man, killing almost all humans alive with a world-wide deluge, etc.

How do you jump from God existing to him certainly wanting us to know he exists and what not? Theoretically, a god can exist without caring about any of the things you mentioned.

I got my Lenovo IdeaPad 110-151BR as part of a scholarship award over 2 months ago.

I recently started having problems with it some weeks ago. First problem I noticed was that when turned on, it would display a blinking "project screen display" or something of that sort, with about 4 options at the right hand corner of the screen. This ceases once I press any key. A result of this is that certain keys (such as letters "o" and "l" ) stop working both on the on screen keyboard and the real keyboard. And my cursor subsequently ceases from time to time, making it difficult to navigate round the PC.

It's gotten worse now however. My PC doesn't power on anymore. I've tried charging it. It indicates "charging" by showing the usual white light. Initially, it would power on again after a day or two and the battery would work just fine. But for almost two weeks now it has refused to power on.

PS: The battery isn't detachable. I don't want to open it because of the warranty since I have no idea how severe the problem is. Seems Lenovo only has a repair center in Lagos.

I think with the recent spate of killings and the government's reaction, it has become clear to all Nigerians that the FG is complicit in this terrorist act. In other words, the FGN has become a terrorist apparatus. And the oft-repeated and seemingly overboard statement of many aggrieved Nigerians that "Buhari is a terrorist" has in fact been shown to be true.

That said, I think for justice to be served, Buhari ought to resign or be impeached, tried at the ICC and subsequently jailed.

Calvin was a very bigoted man. He displayed the height of religious intolerance - validated the killing of a fellow christian (Servetus) just because of doctrinal difference. I remember how shocked I was reading this as a kid.

I always find the culture of illogical intellection on Nairaland tiring.

The op has written a fantastic piece on the Igala people living outside Kogi State. He raised issues around identity,language,culture and ignorance of existence. However, some simpletons have reduced the beautiful piece to ownership/settlement debate.

Some posers will highlight the folly of this simplistic reading of the op's perspective by our 'town and village owners' in Anambra.

1. Does settlement deny any people a claim of ownership?Think native Americans/the pilgrims in the US.

2. Even if the Igala people conquered and settled in those communities, does that make them less Anambra rians?

3. We have Igbos in parts of Ibaji and Olamaboro LGAs of Kogi State, even if quite invisible. Are they less Kogites or 'mere settlers' with no ownership claim in those villages were their ancestors lived,built and thrived?

I think Nairaland needs to be more stringent in designing standards for intellectual crossfires. A people must never be demeaned in the name of ownership claims.

Well, this scenerio doesn't quite fit with what I had in mind. Any sane woman wouldn't be looking to abort her baby at such a late stage.

I was talking about a scenerio where a woman is placed in a dilemma and has to choose between herself and her baby or risk dying along with her baby. I'm sure, she'd be mighty glad if the baby still survives in this case.

Killing a 23 weeks old baby or an already born baby deliberately should be a no no for everybody.

Nothing is clear in medicine all the time. Doctors have said that a baby would die within 3 months if they are born in their condition but these babies went ahead to lead full active lives to a good old age or even into their 30s.

Medicine took a gamble with that life when they said the baby would die in months but it defied the odds.

Good you punctuated that sentence with "all the time". Sometimes, it gets very clear.

Well, as much we'd love this to be true, there isn't always a chance in the pragmatic sense. Sometimes, it's either the mother gets saved at the baby's expense or the baby gets saved at the mother's expense or they both die. And if I'm not mistaken, you're saying a mother should be willing to die whichever way it goes. That's like also saying the husband should be willing to lose both wife and unborn child, even when he has to only lose the unborn child and can still have other kids with the wife. Pretty easy to say; uneasy to practice.

The mothers life is not more precious. Often times the choice is made FOR the mother. However A TRUE MOTHER would love the product of her loins and would fight with her own life to protect her/him.

A true mother would lay down her own life for her child in order to give her child a fighting chance.

Are you saying it's better for a mother to die with her baby, even when it's clear that the baby can't be saved and her life would be at great risk if she insists on having the baby?

As an atheist, in as much as I disagree with the theist on the existence of god doesn't mean I disagree with them on anything else.

To me, abortion is morally wrong but morally equating it with murder and thus criminalizing it is where the biggest problem lies.

I'd like to know why you think abortion is morally wrong.

Honestly, I am against abortion, especially from the second trimester. We might want to argue for its justification when its a pregnancy of shame, like incest and rape cases. But what if the baby is born before the issue of its paternity comes up, will the baby be to cover the shame? Whoever doesn't want a baby yet should prevent pregnancy through the various birth control measures. Or better still, abstain. Even rape victims should be educated on the need to put aside their shame and get medical help immediately.
However, there are times when a pregnancy may threaten the life of the mother. I'll strongly support abortion in this instance. Better to allow the fetus go than lose both mother and the unborn child.
