Ex-militant and ardent supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term ambition, Mujahid Dokubo Asari, has insisted that the Chibok school girls’ abduction is a ‘scam’.
Over 200 female students of a government-owned school in Chibok, Borno State were abducted more than two months ago by Boko Haram insurgents with the international community rendering assistance, at the behest of the Nigerian government, to locate and rescue the girls.
In spite of the worldwide attention – powered by a social media campaign with the hash tag ‘#BringBackOurGirls’ – the abduction generated, the repentant militant still believes no girls are missing.
According to a post on his Facebook, in response to the recent publishing of some of the abducted school girls’ photographs and their names, Mr. Asari wondered why they were all dressed in mufti instead of a school uniform.
He argued that since the passport photographs were for the girls’ registration for the Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, they ought to have worn their school uniforms.
