Does anyone know any private individual that can transport someone from Heathrow airport to Newark in Nottinghamshire? We can just agree on a few over a call |

Hi Guys, need an opinion from guys that have filled visit visa for their parents. I am doing one for my Dad who is retired and one question that is on the form says: "Why are they helping to pay for your visit?" What are the typical correct responses that I could use so as to confirm what I have stated is also valid |

ricdavies: I believe it gives an edge. so she did a certification called PBA-PMI and also did ACI (trading) certification couple of months before she started the program so she talked about the whole certification process during the interviews too. But most graduate roles might not require having certifications because your typical consulting firms would train you and also pay for these certifications for you while on the job |

Can’t say if we applied a trick per say. We just did lots of practice and tried to validate responses. Accenture’s second level interview was more around picking a topic amongst a list of selected topics and then talking about it. She picked AI, she specifically picked up deep learning use cases I think. Talked about similar class room projects about it and her experience in it using python. Then there was the behavioural now because it’s a graduate role she tried to answer them based on class room activities and did not really talk much about her previous experience in financial related stuffs she had done on Nigeria because at that graduate level they don’t expect that much because they intend to train you I believe. Also we did lots of practice as I wanted to hear how she sounds over the questions to ensure she was confident and all. Her final interview was with a technical /lead person in the firm I think. Same kinda process like the first. I know it’s competitive All the best and good luck in your next interviews [/quote] 4 Likes 1 Share |

ricdavies: Permit me to say a few around job search and a strategy when coming in to the Uk via your question maybe it may help a few peeps:- My self and my wife we came to the Uk October 2020, My wife was a student while I was the dependent. I got a job almost immediately and starting working as a software engineer in a firm in Liverpool while my wife focused on her studies as we literally sold everything and planned to start a life here in the Uk. But we *had* a plan. Our plan was that by God’s grace I would get a sponsored job and because she also had experience as well, she would also finish her masters and also get a sponsored job kinda both of us having sponsorship running differently to avoid stories that touch. By the way my wife has about 5 years experience as a BA in treasury management mostly around a solution called calypso(one of the biggest around). Immediately she started school she started applying for graduate roles because they kinda offer jobs months/ even a year ahead with sponsorship before you even finish your program. We got lots of rejections, too many for that matter. Most times she would cry as I was always consoling her that they are the ones missing out as she would definitely get one. As God may have it she got Accenture graduate role more inclined around project management. We were excited because at least we got the ball rolling as regards our big plans. 5 months after working in the firm in Liverpool I got an offer with sponsorship with another eCommerce firm in Leicester which required us is to relocate to Leicester, again the plan fell into place. Wifey finally graduated in October with a distinction( as our money no fit waste ). Plans changed as I thought that she can actually get better in terms of job and pay. We started looking out for Calypso roles and to my surprise they are high in demand here in the Uk and the pay was great. Of course We we’re looking at sponsorship but we did not mind having one without sponsorship but with a better pay as she can go Under me as a dependent but I had that believe that we can eat out cake and have it. We applied to FD and LSE as they had roles and pay structure was great! To our surprise we had interview slots. My o my the interview was a breeze as na my wife they teach the guys for the interview. FD gave her an offer as a senior BA after like a week and said they will sponsor her visa under mine and we were like should we take it, meanwhile LSE was in the pipeline and the interview was also a breeze off cause we stalled FD’s offer and waited for LSE it was a bit slow because it was via an agency and the agency was skeptical about sponsorship but the final manager that interviewed her was so impressed and pushed for sponsorship and eventually they gave her an offer!!! FD got back to her and she told FD that she has an offer now with LSE, and they said they will match the money and started talks about how they can strategise her into management in no time but come on LSE was just the height! She is starting with LSE later this month and all our plans since we came to the Uk kicked in, it was all God and preparation and opportunity! Why I am saying this! If you come in to the Uk in October or January start applying immediately, don’t wait till your masters is about rounding up before you apply, there are lots of graduate roles, I would reckon that more experienced roles would want you to start immediately and would not give you the buffer to start months ahead. Lastly you can always yearn for more! Go for it! You have it in you! Hope this helps anyone 59 Likes 6 Shares |

justwise: I have a friend that did the same maybe slightly different but. He did his first masters in 2019 and applied for another masters 2020 because the PSW did not cover him. Two months into his second masters he got a graduate job with sponsorship in an engineering firm and switched his visa and deferred his masters 4 Likes 1 Share |

IamE: Been a while, so from my experience so far. Having previous tech experience puts you in a commanding position for interviews and co and also an opportunity to show what you can do. Recently I have had a good number of friends come in from Naija from the company I work, they have seen that Nigerian devs are really good and our tech eco system is doing really well but you have to know your stuff. I see Nigeria becoming the new India in terms of tech in no distant time so if you have good experience you will get in easily here or if you get in here with a dependant visa you can actually get that sponsorship job really fast. Blending in might take a while depending on how fast you can but the base work is the same, same coding and all but a bit more organised here and they take their time here a lot. For those that have no experience, I would advise you do lots of practise, if you have friends that are developers in Naija, link up with them, get side Gigs even if it’s for free, do it get the experience package it very well on your Cv, even if after school you do not get a sponsored job after school start with any dev job you see, get the experience and then chase the sponsorship jobs, recruiters here are very keen about having Uk experience as well because they have that feeling you have had some form of validation to an extent. I have found out that not so many firms sponsor yeah, the ones that do not sponsor do very interesting stuffs and also use some amazing tech stack. Does not matter which language you do, there are lots of openings for different stack just know one very well and you would be fine. I’m my opinion in tech they need you more that you need them always bear that in mind and have that mind set in your interview, it worked for me ! Lastly getting the job is kinda the easy part, keeping the job is kinda more difficult cos you have to be on top of your game and also have to go the extra mile! 12 Likes 2 Shares |

Even without a Uk experience he can get a job. I got a professional job about a week and some days as a software engineer with “No” Uk experience. Luckily enough for me after 5 months I got a job with sponsorship. Let’s spread more hope . With the right skill set you can get that job. I agree with you raising the balance will be a big deal even if he gets a job the next day so yeah he should have chosen a cheaper school. My wife is currently studying in Liverpool Hope uni and we paid 8400 after a scholarship (for 1st class and 2’1 holders. ) I understand that Hull is also cheap uni! Best of luck hosey: 6 Likes 1 Share |

Andela use to have tech bootcamps, not so sure if they still do it. There is a talent accelerator programme that Decagon does that pretty much is like a bootcamp. There might still be a few. LagosismyHome: |

I am more of .Net MVC,.Net Core,Angular and React Js guy. Honestly i think there are lots of roles for different stacks. My coding test was to analyse a set of data, create a schema around it, perform some CRUDE operations around it, created a UI and there were marks allocated to proper coding standards around it and further additions and effizy you can add that earns you extra points. But the Q&A was alot around .Net/ Core, Architecture and Behavioural questions. Braket: 2 Likes |

I think just as in every field you can always learn and i don't think there is an age limit to it. Programming can be a self taught approach so i advice you learn a-lot by practicing before you even start your BSc here. You can get courses from Udemy or go for internships/bootcamps and the likes you will do fine. Data Engineering is also the real deal now there are lots of opportunities as well! Salary range for Senior Developers and Mid-Level Developers is transparent for most roles as you will see them in the Advert, even though you can negotiate for higher pay. All depends on what you want and your experience. The office is in Lancashire nihilistjnr: 3 Likes |

So i will share my experience. I got in Oct 17th 2020, I happen to be a software engineer and i can say that there are lots of opportunities in Software engineering once you know the craft and got some good experience. I got in on a Saturday and started applying on Monday lol. I enrolled and uploaded my CV in Total Jobs and edited my CV and took out the locations from my work places (watched this from a video and felt it made some sense) but my last role as a Software Engineer in one of the Big fours and a dev project for a US firm i added the location because i felt it will stand out. I had a family friend that got me a GifGaff SIM the weekend i got in because i felt they will call. On Monday i received lots of calls and started interviews the next day, interestingly most of them went well, for those with software experience just study algorithms and data structures, although different firms have their own type of questions. One of the recruiters i spoke to that day said she has a role that just has two stages of interview and they are one of the big players in the Insurance sector in Uk and US, i saw the JD i loved it!, did the first interview, it was a Q&A with their Head of Engineering and some senior engineers, i was struggling to hear some of the questions but again they were not so difficult i did well and they scheduled the next day for the final phase which was a coding test to be submitted in two hours and i did it before the allocated time and went into a Pair Programming exercise and as God may have it also went well. We discussed salaries and they gave me an offer on Friday same week and i resumed 2nd December. I recently applied for NI so the HR said that would not be a problem as i should update it on the portal once its ready. About my experiences so far, its been an interesting one even though we are all working from home due to the lockdown and most developers are scattered around the country and it seems to be a work from home policy till june next year i think. Lastly i was specific about the firm because they are amongst the list of firms that can provide sponsorship and we spoke about its possibility next year. If you are a developer i think you will do fine in the UK! Cheers!!! fatima04: 12 Likes 3 Shares |
