Politics › Re: How Long Will The South East Continue To Miscalculate Politically In Nigeria by meccuno: 2:46pm On Feb 27, 2019
[s]
ashacot:
The South east miscalculation in the Nigeria political scene can now be described as ridiculously disturbing in all ramification.
The region has against all odds recovered against all odds from the devastating civil war but has really found it difficult to stamp their authority in Nigeria mainstream politics.

Putting all their eggs in one basket has always been one of the undoing of the region. Going into the 2015 general election, the region placed all their political survival on the reelection of president goodluck jonathern even when it was almost certain that mohammed buhari wll win the election. This was facilitated by the rumor going on that time that APC is an hausa fulani muslim party. In contrast, their south west counterpart was smart enough to divided their votes in preparation to have a say in the government of the eventual winner.

As an igbo son, i keep asking myself what we truly want politically in the country. Do we want biafra or do we want ONE NIGERIA?

After the election of 2015, while South South whose son lost the election moved on the south east could not. This made them to immediately embrace the ideology of the lunatic Nnamdi kanu. It will be recalled that for more that two years nnamdi kanu held the south east to ransom in the most dangerous style of looking for secession with clear support from majority of south easterners. All over south east was the call for referendum. Nnamdi kanu was almost turned into a god. All the while such madness was going on, the following was happening.
#The south east was loosing focus to plan for 2019 election,
#Nnamdi kanu style of pursuing recession was burning all the bridges the south east was able to build with other region post civil war.

It took the intervention of the presidency to end the madness of nnamdi kanu with a military exercise (operation python dance) after he had promised to go to abuja and return with the president's head and his establishing a military service in Nigeria.

Now fast forward to 2019 election, We still made similar mistake of putting our eggs in one basket when it was obvious it will backfire. We never prepared for the election either. While other regions were registering for PVC, we were listening to the same lunatic nnamdi kanu and emma powerful that declared no referendum no election in south east. Many south easterners listened to them and didn't get their PVC. those who got lost interest to go and claim their PVC. By the time the lunatic will call off the no election order in south east, most people had lost interest in the election and some who had PVC had already burnt it. This remind me of another own goal the south east scored in 2004 during the national census where many south easterners refused to participate because one uwazuirike ask the not to participate. End result being we lost out as one of the areas with massive population and ultimately lost out in allocation sharing bragging right and the voting strength.

Now power returns to south in 2023 by the sharing formula of the two major parties, while the south south and south east has since been strategizing on how to get the two parties ticket, what has been the plan of the south east? Only Orji uzor kalu, Rochas, Chris Ngige are vocal about power moving to south east even though none of the aforementioned will get my vote.

A lot needs to be done by the south east leaders. There is need to start building the region and look for ways to stop the massive migration of its people to other parts of the country. This will increase the population of the cities and gives it the bragging right when sharing allocation and also when voting.

There is need to educate the people of south east about the need to actively participate in politics. Many south easterner will rather have data on phone than have PVC. Many who have pvc will rather sit at home and watch Nkoli nwa nsuka or play football on election day than go out to vote. later they will cry that the election was rigged. In my area i lived, on election day, more than 100 igbo men gathered in front of my compound drinking and discussing on election day. Only 7 of them have PVC and only 3 have the time to vote on that day. Imagine buhari's total votes in kano is 1.4m while Atiku total votes in south east equal 1.6m vote. This echoes what Ebonyi state governor recently said that the people of south east will rather be on social media than get their PVC and participate actively in politics but will be the first to cry fowl when result is out.

There is also the need to know and decide what we want from Nigeria. Not before election, we are one Nigeria and after election, we need biafra or death.

Again importantly, our leaders need to build all the bridges that idiot nnamdi kanu and his ipob members has burnt. Nnamdi kanu was going about insulting other tribes. He insulted the yorubas, insulted the hausa and fulanis and other parts of the country. The effect is telling on the south east politically as we speak. A lot needs to be done.

Finally, congratulations to president buhari and all buharist on his victory and also Weldon to those who oppose him and who never supported him. They are also heros of our dear country cos they are effectively applying the principles of checks and balances. PLEASE DO NOT STOP OPPOSING HIM BUT BE MORE CONSTRUCTIVE.
[/s] how has voting for your choice become miscalculation? this is one of the numerous reasons why i want a split. we a very DIFFERENT IN CHOICES,RELIGION AND CULTURE. so strange how an educated person would actually think that everyone should move and think like ZOMBIES.

there is nothing sophisticated about the North Politically. i wonder why we are so naive to see this? right from independence, several factors lead to this mirage called political sophistication. if the leaders the south has had ever thought of empowering us this none sense would have stopped. Obasanjo started the revolution but didnt complete it. the structure of this country has been in favor of the northern region which was created by the British. land mass ,Islam as a religious tool for mental slavery, local government and population of northerners in the military, and not educating their citizens. the North is solely responsible for the decay of our educational system. and it started during the IBB Era. i wonder where exactly this political sophistication exist when the end is still poverty illiteracy disease and death. i repeat, THERE IS NO POLITICAL SOPHISTICATION. THEY ARE NOT MORE SOPHISTICATED THAN THE SOUTH. THEY JUST HAVE A STRUCTURE THAT FAVORS THEM ,A PEOPLE WHO ARE VERY MUCH UNEDUCATED,AND PEOPLE WHO ARE CONTROLLED BY RELIGION. AND THEY ARE VERY MUCH UNITED BECAUSE. THAT IS THE MAJOR REASON WHY THEY WOULD NEVER AGREE TO RESTRUCTURING. BECAUSE IT WOULD REMOVE POWER FROM THEM AND THAT SO CALLED POLITICAL SOPHISTICATION WOULD BE SO BARE FOR EVERY ONE TO SEE. THE SOUTH IS NOT UNITED. IF NOT,THE NORTH WOULD NOT HAVE IT SMOOTH. BUT THE SW BECAUSE THEY WANT POLITICAL POWER GIVES THEM THE STRENGTH THEY NEED ON A PLATTER OF GOLD. THEY SHOULD REMEMBER THAT THE NORTH AND SOUTH THINK VERY DIFFERENTLY. AND WOULD NOT WANT TO LOOSE POWER AGAIN. WHATEVER CELEBRATION THEY THINK THEY ARE GOING TO DO THEY SHOULD CAREFULLY THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES THAT LAY AHEAD BECAUSE OF THE ACTIONS THEY HAVE TAKEN FOR THIS ELECTION. THESE 4 YEARS WOULD SHOW HOW MUCH THE NORTH LOVES THE SW. I REPEAT THERE IS NO POLITICAL SOPHISTICATION .

Don't be silly please. Who named the stadium 'sani abacha', the people of kano state or the government/military regime?

Mohammed abacha has been contesting for the governorship of kano state for about 12yrs now, and in any election he doesn't even get the 2nd position because people don't usually vote for him simply because of his late father's 'atrocity'.

We don't reward corruption here in the north, understand this.

This clown though. Atiku is viewed as one corrupt fella all over the north and there was no possible way for him to make any good gains in the north. Remove the buhari factor, anybody can still beat atiku in the north because the man is just so unpopular.

He should even thank his stars that his stolen money bought him many electorates in Adamawa state.
Once you are tainted with corruption, you are so done in the north because nobody rewards corruption here in the north.

Criminal atiku should try again next time.
i wonder why you think that we down here are fools. is Abacha not a bigger thief than Atiku but he has a stadium named after him. please stop this idea of the North not voting for Atiku because he is perceived as a criminal. its only the gullible that would fall for that trick.

Yes, with all the political thuggery in the SW since the days of Akintola till today, we've been "learning" how to live peacefully among others from Yorubas. Only Yorubas are known for peace even though they're the ones clashing with Hausas in Ife and Lagos and we're not.
Simply going out on election day to vote and mind your business is "hateful, bitter politics", but OPC thugs disrupting peaceful voters is loving, peaceful politics.

The hilarious thing is that there are many Yorubas that love to repeat this "peaceful, accommodating" line and think it is a unique feature that they need a pat on the back for. A pat on the back for not being violent savages to non-indigenes in their midst. It's funny as hell. grin Yet, ask any of them to explain how other Southern tribes are unaccommodating and you'll hear little more than waffle.
they have been accommodating the igbos? i am yet to understand that phrase. is there any state in Nigeria that have chased the igbo man out of their state? and yet these people have never ever mentioned how they accommodate the igbos. the only people i hear these things from are the Yorubas. do you need to repeat something for it to be true? it has to be through ones actions. i dont get these people. if you believe the Igbos dont respect their host as they claim why not help with their agitation so that they can leave your land for you. there are millions of Igbos in Togo,Benin,Ghana,Angola,Gambia and i don't hear the talk of accommodation. the truth is there has never been a time igbos destroyed properties in YORUBA land or attack their people in their history compared to the hausas or northerner who have many violent incident with the Yorubas but you can never hear a yoruba man attack the northerner the way he vilifies an Igbo man. when this problem you are trying to create starts it doesn't know who is Yoruba nor igbo.

Cry mad babies as usual. So it is only igbo people thatb supports PDP in lagos? Other PDP supporters from other tribes living in okota and aguda did not experience same? Oh was it Yoruba thugs that caused problems in imo too? PDP did not get any votes in Lagos? No Yoruba person voted PDP in lagos? Other SW states that PDP got massive votes, was it igbo people that voted PDP in those states.

Igbos in festac, apapa, alaba, okoko, agbara did not vote? Or the thugs forgot that igbos live in these places? You iPods are just bunch of HATEFUL mischievous people who like to start trouble you can't finish. All you spread is hate and envy everywhere you go. Yorubas have been teaching you how to live peacefully amongst others. Teaching you how to live and let live, how to respect people's choices and opinion and how to be diplomatic but you will never learn. You can see from the results in SW. People voted both PDP and APC massively and other parties got few votes. That's how to play politics and not the useless HATEFUL bitter politics that you play and the cry victim when you lose. Vote like mumu for one party all because of hatred. Even the north didn't pack all their votes for one party. Na only una go do nonsense still come back dey point rubbish fingers and cry marginalization.

If "Nigeria started experiencing a decline in every aspect of life right from the onset (and) the degradation took over a period of decades," will it then be fair to expect this govt to fix things in 4 years?

Support the govt the best way we can. Criticize when necessary and commend where appropriate.

Let's shun hate and all manner of 'pull-him-down because he's not from our region and leave him, he's our brother' attitude.

Good bless Nigeria and all those who wish her well!
i read up about Buhari and concluded that Buhari was not fit to be president. and mind you, i prefer Atiku and he is not Igbo so please kill that he is not my brother rhetoric. The only reason why Buhari came to power was because the North felt that GEJ was not supposed to continue as president. that he was using up their turn that was why every avenue possible was used to remove him. including the politicians from the SW who had the power of the media. they created the hate and division we are currently having now. i say this with all sincerity . IF BUHARI HAD APPEALED TO NIGERIANS TO COME TOGETHER TO BUILD THE NATION AND BUILD INSTITUTIONS MAKING THEM STRONGER, I WILL EVEN CAMPAIGN FOR HIM. BUT WHAT DID HE DO? KILLINGS EVERY WHERE, DIVISION(NOT LIKE WE HAVE EVER BEEN UNITED IN OUR HISTORY) BUT THIS IS THE ZENITH. NOW YOU CALL ME AN IGBO MAN 5% AND EVERY OTHER PERSON WHO DID NOT VOTE FOR HIM. I HAVE ALWAYS ADVOCATED DIVISION SO THAT THOSE WHO LOVE THEM SELVES CAN BE TOGETHER AND FOREVER AND THOSE WHO HATE EACH OTHER SHOULD SEPARATE. THIS HATE IS GETTING TOO MUCH. I DONT WANT A REPEAT OF THE CIVIL WAR NEITHER DO I WANT TUTSI AND HUTU GENOCIDE. THE ONLY THING THAT UNITES US IS OIL. AND THATS THE REASON WHY BUHARI HAS BEEN LOOKING FOR IT IN THE NORTH. SPENDING AND WASTING LIMITED RESOURCES. WELL, I HAVE RESIGNED TO MY FATE IF HE WINS. WE WOULD ALL FACE THE CONSEQUENCES TOGETHER.

PDP killed this country for 16years yet at the slightest opportunity, APC always measuring itself with those failed years and yet you argue you are a better party? You all need help seriously
PDP did not kill the country. if it did it means that the country was actually good before they came into power. Nigeria started experiencing a decline in every aspect of life right from the onset. the degradation took over a period of decades. Nigeria did not start in 1999 please you guys should stop these narrative. we all are not zombies.
