IgbereTV reports that former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode has condemned the anti social media bill proposed by the Nigerian senate.

Femi Fani Kayode made this known on Twitter. He said:

The #Antisocialmediabill is a perverse sham and aberration that seeks to stiffle opposing voices.@MBuhari wants everyone to be silent and to bow before him.He wants us all to be spineless cowards and quislings like his dogs @ProfOsinbajo and @FemAdesina. This will NEVER happen!

Kayode also wrote:

They want to hang people for so-called hate speech and they want to regulate social media. These people are worse than Hitler's Nazis and they seek to establish a totalitarian fascist state. After they silence everyone they will set up Nazi concentration camps for their enemies

Recall that the Senate on Tuesday recommended that culprits of any form of hate speech should be penalised to die by hanging if convicted.

The Senate also provided that any person found guilty of the criminal act should be accorded life jail sentence and or five years imprisonment, depending on the gravity of the hate speech.

These severe penalties are provided in the proposed bill to establish the National Commission for the Prohibition of Hate Speech which passed first reading in Senate on Tuesday.

The bill which was introduced for the first time in plenary was sponsored by Senator Abdullahi Sabi Aliyu (Niger North).

According to the Bill, “hate speeches are comments that insult people for their religion, ethnic, linguistic affiliation, racial contempt among others.”

By the establishment of the commission, if the bill is enacted, hate speech would become criminalised and the severe penalties shall be applied to offenders.

Also, the Bill, if enacted, would provide the offenders an option of fine to the huge sum of N10 million.

The Bill is expected to eradicate all manner of hate speeches peddled by individuals or organisations and also make hate speeches against ethnic nationalities or persons become a serious unpardonable crime.

The East wasn't swayed to vote Ikemba when pdp fielded a Northerner against him. Now, that is what I call LOYALTY. Such loyalty deserves a very handsome reward. But pdp, as dark as their heart is, has refused to acknowledge the sacrifices made for the party by the East, a sacrifice no other part of the country can boast of.

Indeed, I agree this day, given the wicked disposition of the party towards the East, that they've been, and remain marginalized, by the same party they have nurtured for 20 tortuous years.

I don't have any regret with kicking out Jonathan/PDP and bringing in Buhari/APC, it was the right thing to do at the time. Nigeria was bleeding badly from the multiple stab wounds inflicted on it by the PDP and Buhari was/is the right person to stop it from bleeding to death.

When Buhari finishes, its will be the turn of the south (South west specifically), to continue from where he would stop.If any northern cabal try to play smart, then, the APC should be ready to kiss the Aso Rock good bye for the next 300 years!!!!

Dino Melaye, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi west senatorial district rerun election, says he is better in bed than Yahaya Bello, governor of the state.

Melaye, who will face Smart Adeyemi, his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, in the November 16 exercise, said this during one of his campaign outings.

The appeal court had sacked the PDP lawmaker and ordered a fresh election in the senatorial district.

While addressing a crowd at a rally, Melaye said he is better than the governor in many aspects, adding that he is more handsome, taller, educated and sexually active.

“I want to assure you the kind of development we have not seen before, salary payment is compulsory, paramount, mandatory and a must,” he said.

“You all know Yahaya Bello, there is nothing I don’t have more than him. Number one, I am taller than him. Number two, I am more handsome than him. Number three, I am more educated than him. And if it is ‘kere wa wa’, I can do better than him.”

“Kere wa” is a lose form of referring to sex in vernacular. It is unclear when Melaye made the statement.

He had lost his bid to secure the PDP governorship ticket and subsequently rejected the offer to lead the PDP governorship campaign.

Musa Wada, who clinched the party’s ticket, will face Bello, still on November 16.
