So far Nigeria are hugging the bulk of possession against the Kenyans who look content to want to catch them on the fast break

@OP, how about the annoying Nigerian culture that suggests that WHENEVER THERE'S A QUARREL, THE PARENTS WILL INSIST THE YOUNGER PERSON IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS THE GUILTY PARTY AND MUST APOLOGISE FOR RECONCILIATION. EVEN IF THE OLDER CHILD IS GLARINGLY WRONG AND KNOWS IT, HE/SHE WILL STILL FEEL SMUG AND CLAIM HE/SHE HAS BEEN OFFENDED AND U MUST MASSAGE HIS/HER EGO BY BEGGING. MUCH LIKE THE PROVERB THAT SAYS THE COCKCROACH IS NEVER INNOCENT WITH A HEN. Its so annoying. Some of my siblings still want to do that crap with me - even as adults.

What I dont understand is why do som of these so-called celebrities court trouble by posting pictures they know wuld generate mixed emotions and comments. I just love celebrities who love to keep their space and go public when its absolutely necessary. Thinking Dakore, for example.

This guy lost it when he virtually became a FUJI MUSICIAN. Or wat do u call a "song" that is 80% filled wit Yoruba language and sentiments? PSquare, Tuface etc use local languages, but they limit it so it can appeal to everyone. As far as am concerned, his only real song is 'Gongon aso.'

I dont care if d guvnor or the security forces are at fault. I dont care if Ombaste & their monster of a chief are innocent. I don't really care anybody's account of wat happened or why dis case is stil bein discussed. WHAT I CARE ABOUT IS WHY IS DAT VILLAGE STIL EXISTING ON THE WORLD MAP? WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN REDUCED TO A HEAP OF RUBBLE AND TURNED TO A MUSEUM OR LEISURE PARK? WHY ARE THEY PLAYING POLITICS WIT D LIVES OF MEN WHO MET THEIR TRAGIC END WHILE ON NATIONAL DUTY? This is a big slap on my face, even as a private citizen (I can't imagine commanding a troop or police unit right now and stil stomach all this putrid mess am reading everyday on dis case, not to talk of being d president o). If am an army or police officer and have soldiers/mopols under me, I WULD HAVE DISOBEYED ORDERS FROM THE TOP AND WIPED OFF THAT LAND WITOUT FURTHER NOTICE! U NEED TO STRIKE FEAR IN THESE KINDS OF ANIMALISTIC GROUPS (Ombaste, Maitasine, Boko Haram) and create strong deterrence! If u dont avenge d death of these men, how wil u encourage young nigerians to join d force and die for their fatherland?

I thot the OP wuld give a glimpse, summary or brief synopsis of the movie other than just give a static/moribund line like THE MEETING is a film "that has raised the bar." U seem to be attempting to market Rita Dominic's film &THE FILMHOSUE Ibadan; but it isn't very convincing. Sorry to burst ur bubble, but u spoke so much, BUT SAID VERY LITTLE for any discerning mind to buy ur 'products.'

Politics / Re: Woman Protest In Lagos Over Hunger by mediainspired: 2:19pm On May 21, 2013
It's funny wen u tell Yoruba ppl dat they're d most tribalistic ppl in Nigeria, they want to argue. Just check who is derailing d thread wit their natural tribalistic jingoism: Geomac, I-B, Gbawe, Our Yansh. Sworn racists like eok-ile, alj harem etc hav not even come into d fray yet ooo. Even if an Igbo makes any tribalistic comments, it is usually as a reaction to d false superiority feelings and intolerant opinions of d average Yoruba person. Nobody gets the crown! And wat part of their culture is even superior to others? I don't know. I live in Lagos & I stil can't figure out any!
Politics / Re: Woman Protest In Lagos Over Hunger by mediainspired: 2:07pm On May 21, 2013
This I-B lady tribal jingoist,WILL YOU JUST SHUT IT! If u don't know history, then speak softly or thread carefully. Yuzedo has dissected d situation here, yet u & ur fellow ethnocentric minds here are willing to start an ethnic war u definitely cannot win wen the enemy decides to engage u. Lagos is close to the seaport and was a natural choice for the colonizers becos of sea transport for transporting people and goods to d UK. Naturally, Lagos became d commercial capital of Lagos. D woman did not come to see Fashola (Delta and Uduaghan are richer!). She came to get the attention of the Nigerian media &NGOs (which is mostly Lagos-based). Before u continue in ur tribalistic stupor, ask urself why there are no migration to Ogun, Osun, Ibadan &other southwest states. Outside of Lagos, which other southwest state is 'up there'? But go to d east, u can talk of several states on d same level. same for South-South, u'll talk about PH, Calabar, Benin and Asaba in d same breath. Don't forget too dat Lagos was d capital of Nigeria for close to 50 years, massively developed by Niger Delta's oil money (The 3rd mainland bridge is a glaring example). So, u don't own Lagos, we all do!

Career / Re: A Harsh Take On Locally-Trained Nigerians by mediainspired: 1:18pm On May 21, 2013
A HARSH TAKE ON FOREIGN-TRAINED NIGERIANS (my general observations).

1. Most of them are over-rated and not half as good, technical or rugged as the Nigerian-trained graduates.

2. Most of them bamboozle would-be employers with fake UK accents and those employes suffering from inferiority-complex are usually deceived and hire them with a smiling face.

3. Most of them are lazy and think top administrative work or supervisory roles over their Nigerian counterparts is their birthright.

4. They usually don't understand the business terrain in Nigerian and can run down a company quickly when handed the keys than a locally-trained Nigerian who knows his onions would.

5. Most of the training is just a waste. The real training they have is the first degree they got in Nigeria before leaving for overseas.

6. Most of them are hired as square pegs in round holes in Nigeria. No real job experience overseas, but they're quickly hired here becos of the foreign certificates (by would-be employers suffering from inferiority complex).

7. After my close relationship with some of them, one thing is clear to me: NO ONE CAN DAZZLE ME WITH A FOREIGN CERTIFICATE. U WILL NEED TO PROVE UR WORTH LIKE EVERYONE ONE ELSE!

Lol. I remember wen i was a kid, a palmwine tapper brought some thick, undiluted palmy and i guzzled d sweet, fresh liquid til my belly was full. D next thing i knew was i woke up about 6 hours later on a thick bush path where huge snakes slither around and small wild animals roam. D irony of it isam not sure i'v heard a more peaceful sleep all my life. it felt like heaven! Dats d deceit of alcohol.

I also once heard of somone who got so drunk at a bar dat his memory went into reboot mode dat he forgot he parked his sleek, millenium car at d bar; and instead took an okada home.

Culture / Re: The Slogans, Meanings And Histories Of The 36 States by mediainspired: 4:40pm On May 19, 2013
@OP, correction on Delta State. D name was derived 4rm its topography (a delta is a point where rrivers &oceans split or pour into). D slogan, 'The Big Heart' is derived 4rm d shape of d state (it shaped like a big heart), of course aside d fact dat Deltans are naturally big-hearted &pacesetters across all sectors - sports, economy, developmnt, Stephen Keshi, Okocha, Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu, Ngozi Okonjo Iwela, Atuche, Oruma, Blessing Okagbare etc. A Deltan is always first among equals, no one beats them. Plus coz its a mini-Nigeria wit about five ethnic groups, d average Deltan has a more cosmopolitan, detribalised &progressive outlook than d average Nigerians. Dont also forget wen it comes to swag (Warri is d home of pure pidgin),
Everyone gives it to DELTA, THE PERPETUAL CHAMPIONS OF THE NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL. Bottomline: A DELTAN IS A BORN CHAMPION!

@Op, am not a babe, buh somthn tells me a more natural colour wuld hav bn berra on d first girl's lips dan dat deep shade of pink used. Plus d pancake on her eyelids is too much. D last babe look like a heavy makeup user (like her life depends on it), & so looks odd without it.
Fashion / Re: Before And After Make-up Pictures Of Her Friends by mediainspired: 5:02pm On May 18, 2013
I hate excessive makeup (like was done on d first girl). It makes som babes look like 'beautiful' masquerades &sooo artificial. Guys, hav u noticed dat gals wit too much makeup are not just articial in looks, they are also artificial in attitude (as in, 'forming' parole). When wil babes learn moderation is more attrative? (& not just wit makeup thinz).

The military should go beyond annihilating these beasts and crippling their capacity to continue their mayhem. They should also include intelligence network that would monitor any foreign influence or source of arms and ammunitions with the aim of cutting off the supply. This is what has made the Syrian war a protracted crises as the US supplies weapons to the rebels while Russia is fully behind the Al Bashir government.
Literature / Re: 2 Nigerians Shortlisted For Commonwealth Book Prize 2013! by mediainspired: 6:18pm On May 16, 2013
Has anyone noticed that for any book by an African author to get shortlisted or outrightly win any of these book prizes run by the West, the theme and contents must revolve around the negative images they have formed about African and which they repeatedly want to shove down our throats as INFALLIBLE TRUTH? I am talking about themes and imageries of CORRUPTION, SLUM, WAR, INEQUALITY, PROSTITUTION, FRAUD, INTERNET SCAMS,SCAVENGING ON HUGE DUMP SITES, POVERTY AND MORE POVERTY. Check out the winners. From Chimamanda's Half of a Yellow Sun (War) to Í Do Not Come to You By Chance' (I can't remember the author), which was on internet fraud or yahoo yahoo.

So if you are an author and want to get shortlisted quickly, just let your novels be on any of these themes that appeal to these stereotypes mental colonialists, and GBAM! u've struck a chord with them! I read glimpses of these shortlisted novels and with due respect to the author, they read good. But Fantastic? Outstanding? No. Maybe that's me, though. My standards are high - very high. This is my craft and it comes naturally to me. But I refuse to be dictated to in the choice of themes and imageries by these myopic sentiments and biases. I mean, the world is advancing and do they think Africa will be perpetually chained down by these stereotypes they hold of the continent? I don't really blame though. These awards are celebrated because we've not got our own house in order and here mediocre works (and those authored by friends of the exco members) win the ANA awards and the likes. Would Chimamanda Adichie have won and ANA or any other Nigerian award? No, because of the flawed process. But she won a foreign (tag it 'international' if you want) and she became an overnight sensation.

Even though I'm crossed about the whole scenario, I know it's a catch-22 situation. Congrats though to the finalists.

Why just 157? If they are sincere, not less than 10,000 should be sacked for corruption, incompetence and acute lack of understanding of their real job functions. Most of them think it's to set a trap for car owners so they culd extort N5000 or N10,000. Along with Lastam, those CBD agberos on Lagos island are the black spots in Fashola's garment that affect his rating.
