I've heard this talk over a billion times. I dont know where people got this inane notion that since Mikel and Messi stood out in Holland '05, they must always be at the same level. There's a saying that "20 friends cant play together for 20 years", its just life. Poster, even some of the people you grew up with or went to school with, you all arent on the same level. Besides, you forgot that Messi was at Barcelona at the time and Mikel was at Lynn in Norway. Players make moves that could go any way. Giovanni Dos Santos was a highly rated youngster at Barca, where is he today? What if Messi werent in Barcelona and he made a move to a club and it didnt work out for him? Moreover, Mikel has done very well for himself. His move to Chelsea has been far from ill fated as most Nigerians love to label it. He has won a lot of trophies and has over the years established himself as a world class holding midfielder with great tackling and excellent vision |
There's this Nas song i really love. 'Gangsta tears'. It was featured in the movie, 'Exit wounds'. |
you wanna buy time, i'm the seller of minutes i giv u every second-low price, if i sold lives the truth is time waits for none of u infact it cant wait for the day to snatch the ground right from under u small visions of better life if cheddar was rite lurk in the mind of young ones ahead of their time trapped in the slum, beggin for nothing but taking heading for nothing but the state penn where they cousins be waitin judges is not relating to pleas guns bust at where kids play and richochet off lamp poles and leave damp holes and by standers get cancelled DOA around the place where we from hope the future reduce the rate of those buried young life is every mans kingdom, a dyin mans past and the new borns first time to be here at last shud u have to grow up fast and suffer our pains hustlin harder than the generations here before u came goin thru the same B.S as our fathers we read history but who's the authors for some the game is easy, for most of us the game is much harder but never lose faith, through the years just get smarter ghetto prisoners, ghetto prisoners Nas- Ghetto Prisoners(I AM) |
I really want us to sign a good defensive midfielder like Esteban Cambiasso. I think we are lacking in that department, we need some rigidity and ruggedness in the middle. This might finally be David Villa's turn to win the Pichichi |
Al Ahly 2 vs Ismaily 1 TP Mazembe 2 vs ES Setif 2 Meanwhile, Enyimba have been knocked out of the Confederations cup losing 4-2 on agreegate despite a 2-0 win over Zanaco in Aba |
i think i've got a very cool name for a rock band, 'decibels of the demented'. I think it sounds great. I'm down with joining a band |
she's the reason i have been watching the whole tourney. very fine lady i must admit |
bad result and its gonna be real hard for Heartland to make it through to the semis. I was expecting them to get a result, at least a draw because JSK seems like the easiest team in the group. Now they have to beat Ismaili and JSK at the Owerri Township. Anyway, the big one's today, the Egyptian derby-Al Ahli vs Ismaili |
good to see that the Trotters fan base is increasing. What i really lov bout u guys is the bravery you have to follow that team you truly like. Most fans of the big clubs are band wagon followers. I like Bolton too but i'm not a fan. Its Barca for me. Anyways, i think you guys shud Klasnic. Did really well last season |
quite frankly, Messi performed better than Robben at the world cup. Messi was only behind Asamoah Gyan with most shots in the world cup and he really forced the goal keepers to pull some great saves. Messi was a one man army. Its only unfortunate that he found himself in a team that just weren't it and he couldnt find the back of the net. Robben, great player but Messi, Messi is a myth |
Madrid have signed Samir Khedira from Stuttgart |

I heard that Woodgate wont make the 25-man squad for the season |
Real Madrid have completed the signing of Stuggart midfielder, Samir Khedira |
^^^ gbam! Only a cursed player will miss two clear cut one on ones' in a world cup final |
Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare set a new African Championships mark in the women's 100m after winning gold in 11.03 seconds at the 17th African Athletics Championships in Nairobi today. Okagbare bettered the old mark of 11.06 set by fellow Nigerian, Mary Onyali-Omagbemi at the 1994 Commonwealth games in Victoria, Canada. Gabon's Zang Milama Perennes Pau was second in 11.15 ahead of two other Nigerians; Damola Osayomi, who was third in 11.22 and Agnes Osazuwa who ended fourth and out of the podium in 11.33 seconds |

demm121:u're right. It was later discovered that some of the US athletes spiked their system so they stripped them off their gold and Nigeria had to be upgraded to gold. I think Bada is with the AFN(Athletics fed) now |

truly, a very silly name. maybe they are all gay cos how can a male football club be 'babes'? |
Sunday Bada, Olympic gold? u dey dream? anyways, he shud get well soon |
the timing of the Super 4 in my opinion is very wrong. The league only ended some 2-3 weeks ago and wont be resuming until late September. It woulda been better slated for early or mid September since it's meant to be a pre-season of sort. As for Insurance, i dont think there's any chance they'd be playing in the NPL next season |
mine would be: Raul Ronaldo de Lima Rivaldo Ronaldinho Shevchenko Nedved. |
great idea. i think the problem will be knowing the potentials and abilities of these players |
Siasia was given the job a week before the game with Al Ahly. We should be commending him for getting a point against 6 time champions, Al Ahly. |
Wesley Sneijder if Fifa wants to be fair |
Hayatou's dethronement is imminent as I hear that SA 2010 Head of LOC, Danny Jordan would be contesting for CAF presidency. Hayatou has fallen out with many FA's following Togo's ban and I think is only someone that is extremely out of his mind that will vote for Hayatou in the coming CAF elections |
South Africa, thanx for doin Africa proud. |
If only i cud kidnap oc paul, i go use come play 'baba ijebu' |
Well deserved for Spain. Its been a long time coming. They've always produced very good teams but have always been unlucky. I'm happy they are now getting the respect they deserve |
^^^ sneijder makes the team. He has done very well |
With just two matches to go at the world cup, who makes your team of the tournament? here is mine: 1 Iker Casillas (Spain): Regarded by many as the best goalkeeper in the world and he has shown just why. He has been very instrumental to Spain's run up to the final with countless numbers of great saves. Honourable Mention: Richard Kingson (Ghana) 2 Sergio Ramos (Spain): Ramos is one of the players that really shone at this world cup. His performances have been nothing short of excellent. He is rock solid at the back and also a threat when making his trademark dashing runs up front. Honourable Mentions: Gregory van Der Wiel (Holland), Phillip Lahm (Germany) 3 Fucile (Uruguay): He really announced himself at this world cup with his dazzlin performances. He brings in the right mix of defensive grit and offensive play and has been one of the better players in the Uruguay team. Dom't be surprised if you see him playing in your club when the new season begins. Honourable Mentions: Jerome Boateng(Germany), Juan Capdevilla(Spain), Fabio Contreao(Portugal) 4 Raul Meireles (Portugal): Portugal may have gone as far as the round of 16 but this Porto man showed class with every display. He truly caught the eye not only with his many tattoos but also with his breathtaking displays. A midfield general, his brilliant off the ball runs was a challenge for the opposition and was particularly outstanding in the game against North Korea which Portugal won 7-0. Honourable Mentions: Nigel de Jong(Holland), Diego Perez(Uruguay), Samir Khedira(Germany) 5 John Mensah(Ghana): The strong centre back put up very decent performances in an impressive Ghanian side. Honourable Mentions: Carles Puyol(Spain), Arne Friedrich(Germany) 6 Gerrard Pique(Spain): The young Spainard has been at the heart of a Spanish defence that only let in two goals in the run up to the final. Solid at the back and his height also gives him a strong aerial presence when going forward. Honourable Mentions: John Heitinga(Holland), Victorino(Uruguay) 7 Xavi(Spain): The best midfielder in the world. He needs no introduction. He is the engine room of the Spanish team. With 80% pass accuracy and 509 passes completed so far, he is behind Dunga(589 passes) in the all time record for the number of passes completed at the world cup and with one more game, there is no doubt he can become the all time best passer in the history of the world cup. Honourable Mentions: Bastian Schweinstiger(Germany), Kevin Prince Boateng(Ghana) 8 Thomas Muller(Germany): The swashbuckling, all action forward has been an integral part of a young and vibrant German side that have been impressive at the mundial. Muller has scored four times and made three assists and is one player to watch out for in the future. Honourable Mention: Diego Forlan(Uruguay) 9 David Villa(Spain): 7 times Spain have scored at this world cup, 5 times, it has been Villa. The diminutive Spanish hit man who recently signed for Barcelona has proven why he is regarded as the world's most complete striker in many quarters. With one game to go, he might just increase his tally and pick up the golden boot. Honourable Mention: Luis Suarez(Uruguay) 10 Wesley Sneijder(Holland): His brilliant form all season for Inter continued at the mundial and with 5 goals, he is one of the major reasons the Netherlands will be playing in the final. Honourable Mentions: Andres Iniesta(Spain), Cristian Riveros(Paraguay) 11. Mesut Ozil(Germany): If the 2010 world cup were a book, Mesut Ozil would be a chapter. The young German emerged from obscurity to leave an indelible boot-print at this world cup. He is the focal point of an awe-inspiring German side that put four past England and Argentina. With one goal and three assists, he is already one of the most sought after talents in Europe right now. Honourable Mention: Andre Ayew(Ghana) 4-1-2-1-2 Formation -----CASILLAS--------- ---RAMOS---- ----MENSAH---- -----PIQUE------- ---------FUCILE------ -------MEIRELES------- ------XAVI------- --------OZIL----------- ---------SNEIJDER--------- ------MULLER------- ------VILLA---------- |
