Every player is the best in his own right. I'm surprised he acknowledged that Messi is better than him |
yemi313:Why didnt Gerard Houllier in his 6 years in Charge of Liverpool win them the champions league. Benitez took Liverpool to two champions league finals in 3 years and won one. His lowest finish with Liverpool in the champions league was the 1st k/o round in 2006 when they lost to Benfica unlike Houllier who couldnt qualify Liverpool from the group stage in 2003, in a group that had FC Basel. That he won the champions league a season later with that same team is nothing but pure genius. Liverpool were one of the highest ranked teams in the UEFA coefficients under Benitez. He won Liverpool the FA Cup and was only 2 points away from winning the league with Liverpool in 2009. Kuyt, Skrtel, Agger, Riera, Glen Johnson, Xabi Alonso, Mascherano are also bad signings too, right? Name one coach that has never made a bad signing. . . |

Well, in the broadest sense, no. There are only two types of degrees: local and foreign. I graduated from a private university myself - Covenant University and I know how I struggled before I got my present job. However, there are one off cases when you are considered. I remember when Global Fleet were recruiting and Covenant University graduates were given 'special treatment' - they were automatically selected for interview without any written test while graduates from other institutions had to first do some written tests. But then, Jimoh Ibrahim is a member of the board of regents of CU. I don't know about other schools but as a CU graduate, there are few cases when your being a CU graduate opens doors. But more often than not, they don't care |
Another win for Sunshine Stars, they mean business this season. They are on top of the league, one point ahead of Dolphins |

Bojan Krkic delighted to sign Barcelona contract extension Striker Bojan Krkic has expressed his delight at extending his contract with Barcelona until 2015, and issued his intention to continue to grow as a player for the Blaugrana. The 20-year-old agreed a three-season addition to his former deal with the Spanish champions, committing his future to the club and warding off interest from other interested parties from Serie A and the Premier League. Speaking to Sport after confirming the contract, the Spanish international said he hoped to develop his game further under the stewardship of coach Pep Guardiola. Bojan commented: “I’m very happy for the peace of mind that this contract gives me. All I want is to enjoy the option of growing at the club of my life. “What really matters is what happens on the playing field, but for the club to allow me to sign a contract for so many years shows that they have confidence in me. I hope things will improve, so that I can continue to demonstrate that I can be at this club and I am valid for the team.” Sport also comments that compatriot Sergio Busquets could be the next member of the Catalan giants’ squad to negotiate improved terms. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3277/la-liga/2010/12/21/2271583/bojan-krkic-delighted-to-sign-barcelona-contract-extension |
Sponsorship row blights Nigeria A sponsorship row between Nigeria's Football Federation (NFF) and organisers of the local league is threatening the domestic game. The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) secured a record US$17m four-year deal with mobile phone company MTN last week in a move that earned the praise of clubs in the top division. But that celebration has been cut short by the NFF, which insists the decision is unacceptable. With the highly-publicised spat taking centre stage, NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire told BBC Sport that the NPL decision leaves the league in a difficult situation. "The NFF has made its position clear that the decision by the NPL board to go contrary to the standard norms and protocols which such an issue demanded is unacceptable," he said. "It is a difficult position because they [NPL] refused to carry the NFF, the supreme authority for all matters relating to football in the country, along. "Importantly, there is an unresolved leadership issue involving them [the NPL] - and taking such a big corporate decision now is totally wrong." NPL chairman Davidson Owumi, whose election victory has been contested by beaten foe Victor Baribote, says his body has done the right thing for the country's domestic football. "The league started without a title sponsor and what we have done now is in the best interest of the Nigerian Premier League," Owumi said. "The NPL board had a transparent bid, the right thing was done, honesty and truth was followed - that is all we can say for now." Clubs in the top league have embraced the new deal after the season kicked off two months ago without a title sponsor. The chairman of Nigeria's Club Owners, David Suleiman, says the agreed venture will help cash-strapped clubs in their bid to escape from often-dire financial plight. Last week, domestic players and coaches marched on the country's parliament in the capital Abuja in protest of their poor working conditions. According to the Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria, the protest was carried out due to the non-payment of players' entitlements by clubs among other issues. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/9310851.stm |
Balotelli: 'I don't know who Wilshere is' Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli claimed he has never heard of Arsenal starlet Jack Wilshere when picking up the Tuttosport Golden Boy trophy on Tuesday. Balotelli, who has barely played for City due to injury after joining the Eastlands club from Inter Milan in the summer, beat off competition from Wilshere to win the award, which recognises the best player under the age of 21. Wilshere, a full England international, is seen as one of the brightest young prospects in the Premier League. "I am delighted to receive this award,'' said Balotelli to Tuttosport. "Who should have won this award but me? Two years ago I finished sixth and a year ago fourth. It was finally my turn. "I don't know who Wilshere is but the next time I play against Arsenal I will keep a close eye on him. "Perhaps I can show him (Wilshere) the Golden Boy trophy and remind him that I won it! "My aim is that this prize will, in the near future, transform itself into the Golden Ball Award. To have won this award is a good omen to achieve that. "All I ask for is two things: to win the Premier League, in order to continue with the tradition I had at Inter of winning three consecutive league titles, and to clinch the Europa League - a trophy that I have not yet won, and a competition where we are considered favourites." http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/856326?cc=3888 LWKMD!!! ![]()
