MTN, represented by Total Promotions, have won the bid to become the new title sponsors of the Nigeria Premier League on a contract worth N2.6 billion over four years.

MTN beat off competition from rivals and former sponsors Globacom, who bid N2 billion over the same time frame.

The announcement came at the end of a two-day bid process which saw the NPL's Bid Committee appraise the offerings of Glo and Total Promotions, representing MTN.

Officials told KickOffNigeria.com that the MTN bid also included sweeteners absent from the Glo bid.

An official contract signing ceremony is expected before Christmas.

Porto are the team I am most scared of. The way Falcao is scoring with ease is very frightening. The English teams are just there to make up the numbers, likewise the German teams - Leverkusen and Stugggart - pretenders. Liverpool and Man City can never win it. Liverpool could only manage two wins in a group that had Utrecht, Napoli and some other easy team. City will huff and puff and blow nothing away.
