Weldone mamas for the thread and food ideas. Let me share some recepies I give nu son. Started giving at 6 months 1) ripe plaintain, deboned Titus fish and carrot. I cook everything, add blended crayfish n red oil while cooking, and blend when done You can also try this with sweet potatoes or Irish 2) Irish potatoes and boiled egg. Cook d potatoes n egg separately, blend together. I started blending only d egg yoke den from 7 months added egg white 3)yam porridge 8 months Cook yam, add crayfish, fish, red oil n tiny sliced ugwu n allow to be very soft. I added little water at a time so d water won't be too much. Boil till yam can be mashed with ur fingers. Sweet potatoes can also be used for yam 4) semo n okro soup or draw soup. Make d semi soft. Sometimes I leave for air to touch abit before wrapping in nylon. 5) carrot n Apple, boil n blend 6)Avocado puree 7) banana n apple orange juice 9) Ojojo (made from wateryam) grate d water yam, add crayfish, little salt(optional), take in bits n fry in veg oil 10) moi moi (without pepper) 11) rice n beans Remove back of beans, parboil, add to rice. Anitaamich: Please mamas, I want to ask question about family planning.. I went to health Centre for consultation but didn’t get any useful answer. Is it wise for someone that battled with hormonal imbalance(PCOS) before childbirth to go on implant? One of the nurses told me birth control corrects hormonal imbalance but I’m having doubts about that.. will it worsen it, I would’ve gone for Billings method but my cycle was so irregular before I gave birth, so I’m kinda confused? Can someone with PCOS be on any kind of family planning/birth control? Please don’t read and pass. I had hormonal imbalance (very irregular period) when I was in my teens n d Dr gave me family planning pills for 2 months. It corrected it for a while. Before I took in my period was still irregular, I did d 2 months injection family planning and after d 2 months my period and ovulation has been so constant. It has never been this constant, for d past 3 cycles. I think you can give it a try |

rvpbae: Experienced mums pls i need your help. Been feeding my 5months old son exclusively but i think he needs more, he can suck for africa and way too frequent these days.
I want to supplement with formular. Pls how can i do this? When am i supposed to give it to him? How many ml should i start with? Also how do i incorporate water into this mix?
Thanks You can give him after breastfeeding if he seems not satisfied. I think you can start with 60 mls to observe him and also give water. The instructions to mix is on the pack of the milk but it's usually 30 mls of water to 1 level scoop of formula. My son doesn't like water so when I noticed he hasn't drank water for a while I give him water first before formula. |

hunniesuzie: He needs to drink water. Try to give water first thing in the morning as well as before you feed so he's not too full for it
The twisting is colic, search for comments on it
My baby pooed every 4 days max and he wasn't on exclusive, daily poo isn't compulsory so far the poo comes out at normal consistency and not hard/pebbly I gave him water first thing this morning and my mum placed him in a position to poo and he did. It was normal consistency Thank you so much |

StrongWoman333: Good morning mamas please I have a question someone told me that it is too early to be using baby body cream on my 10 days old baby that it will change her colour please how true is it? I use chicco product I don't think it is true. Most babies change complexion after birth not necessarily because of the cream. But chicco soap made my son's skin to peel within days and when I changed soap it stopped. |

Other moms that had low lying placenta should please come out and give hints on what they did to hold on to delivery. I had low lying placenta and was on complete bed rest for d first two weeks. I only left d bed to use d restroom. When I got home I continued d bed rest, I didn't cook, didn't lift anything (maybe except my phone lol) for another 3 weeks till I felt d pregnancy has gotten to a safe age. I couldn't even go shopping for my baby tins I will advise u observe d bed rest for d sake of ur baby Cc: mamatwinny |

Giddyperson: Lol most doctors are usually dismissive until baby starts showing serious symptoms. Since she believed you enough to prescribe antibiotics, she wasn't so dismissive cuz that's what they prescribe for serious cough. The ones I know would have given you just Vitamin C and Multivite and any other just-so-you-don't-leave-empty-handed kinda drugs. With what I know now I sha won't go to hospital for a once-a-day cough, I'd give Vitc and watch, and go only if it seems to be getting more frequent. Thank you Ma'am, I will continue observing it. I'm just getting used to this Drs. Lol |

Liftedhands: Lolz at dismiss you may not be intentional. You can start him on it but be sure he completes the duration. The antibiotic is usually given so as to get to the source incase of an infection.
You can add vitamin C syrup to boost his immune system as you treat the cough.
Its best you nip it now before it gets out of hand. Ok, thank you Ma. I didn't notice d cough today but I ll keep observing At the bolded, maybe it wasn't intentional, but she made me feel like I wasted my time. FTM fever |

tollu: Yeah, that is expected, our baby must not starve o. You just be sure that you aren't lactating well before introducing formula.
There's nothing wrong with formula but if it is your desire to breastfeed exclusively then it is good for you to try your best.
Here’s something from BabyCenter that I think you’ll like:

Health › Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Meeeeey: 7:56pm On May 09, 2018 |
tollu: Try not to worry, easier said than done, I know. You just might be producing super sufficient milk but not know.
In my experience, the breast pump is unreliable. I'm almost 7 months into breastfeeding and I have NEVER been able to express with a manual pump, tried Mam, Medela and Philips Avent. I then used Medela electronic pump and I have NEVER been able to get more than 2 ounces from a full breast. I almost got into the "not producing" trap too but hunted and hunted for information on the internet.
You need to try other means of knowing if your baby is getting enough milk. Accepting formula after being breastfed is not proof enough because babies generally like to suck. And you just might be teaching baby bad hunger cues and also putting your supply journey at risk because the more baby takes, the more your body produces. Breastfeeding is demand and supply, not a storage tank.
He's just 11 days, my suggestions: 1. Ditch the formula until you are absolutely sure he's not feeding well at the breast
2. Nurse frequently, not pump, direct baby to breast. At least, every 2 hours and on demand
3. Check you baby's throat. You can totally tell when they are sucking well. When you first put them to breast, they do a quick suck motion. This is what stimulates your breast to release milk. When the breast milk starts to flow well, you'd see them take longer and bigger swallows, sometimes you can even hear it.
4. Let your instinct guide you
Let us know how it goes and good luck mama! Thank you ma'am I wanted to ditch the formula but mum doing omuga will insist on formula. That the baby is staved, especially when he takes much formula after. I will do as suggested. |

Awesomemama: Story of my life Took everything too, even lactating cookies and granola and didn't get the result I wanted (except fenugreek).. maybe you should try fenugreek like the other mama adviced cus that's the only thing I didn't take
What I've been doing is drink a lot of water and pap And most importantly, have rest of mind, sleep when LO is sleeping and always put LO to breast, if you feel he isn't getting enough substitute with formula please
Also try to BF at night cus thats when production is high. Think it helped me too
It will get better I also planned to EBF but it didn't happen for me And yes I still substitute with formula Don't beat yourself up, it will get better with time Thank you ma'am Pls how many times on the average do you breastfeed at night? I breastfeed twice between 11pm and 5am. |

nahzyla: Have you tried taking fenugreek?
I hear it's very effective. Also feed him as much as possible from the breasts to encourage more milk let down. The more you breastfeed the more milk your breast produce. And always stay hydrated. I wish you well. Thank you ma'am I haven't tried Fenugreek yet. I will feed from the breast more often and I drink more than 4 big Eva bottles daily. I ll increase it |

For now, don't do any fitfam..eat anything you have appetite for...fruits, meatpie, sharwama, suya, barbeque fish, mama put rice, indomie and egg
you don't need to eat a lot at once. take small meals per time and eat at least 5 times a day...drink malt too..
I hope someone is at home helping you Thank you Someone is at home but no food is appealing. I take pap mainly. Pls Mamas his poop is strong and in drops. He poops like 2 drops daily. What can I do to make it normal? |

feddy27: Welcome on board new mummy
Don't worry about food quantity for a newborn... just feed on demand...leave measurement matter alone
Again, you need to understand that you are still getting a hang of breastfeeding! so don't expect express flow! The truth is breastfeeding is hard at the very beginning but once you master it, you are good to go!
For you to lactate well, 1. You need to put your mind at rest. stress reduces milk production 2. Eat well 3. Breast feed often, that will trigger the brain that more milk needs to be produced 4. Drink a lot of water! any time you are breast feeding, have a bottle of water next to you..as you are breastfeeding, you are drinking 5. Oats is also good to take
if all these fail, look for fenugreek or lactation cookies Thanks Ma'am. Although I don't have appetite now, I will try to eat well. Hope this phase passes soon. Pls Mamas my baby poop is strong and seed like. It doesn't flow and poops only once a day. Help a worried FTM |

I'm officially joining this thread after peeping and learning while pregnant.
I'm not lactating well for my 7 days baby. He eats about 30Mls of formula every 2hrs after I have breastfed him.
Pls how can I increase lactation soon? I drink pap and water a lot.
Is the quantity of food not too much for his age?
Pls help a FTM
