Education / Re: I Pay My American Lecturers One Million Dollars Per Month — Atiku by MEGABHROS1: 5:05pm On Oct 30, 2010
I guess he was refering to the total oyinbo lecturers in the school and not individually.
Notwistanding, it clearly shows that the man has, in no doubt, milked us out as nation thru his service as a  Custom boss and VP. If I were him I would just withdraw to a corner and enjoy these loots rather than venturing in politics again. In  a normal society , this is enough to rubbish his ambition to become the president. He worth to be sued by civil society group over this statement. How can such person know what the populace are going through.
Again, his attitude to business really shows that he cant be entrusted with our common wealth. The university which should be more than 5 year now has persistently been running at a loss going by his comments. He is a complete waster! Yoruba will call his type' Omo buje bu danu.' Let's think of it , millions of Nigerians are going about on empty stomach and Mr. Atiku keeps throwing 152million naira into the busy monthly. A venture that doesnot give you a rational returns could be said to be a complete waste. A rational investor will never do this.  Ask Pat Utomi of Lagos business school if he does run his institution like Atiku. We can see some of his( Utomi's) resource persons in different fora all over the country, but where is Atiku millionaire lecturers? Complete waste, I repeat! The venture is not useful to Nigerians nor to his own personal purse.
I weep for this nation! A man who is competing for the number 1 seat does not see the need for a return on investment- an investment as huge as that of ABTI university. Little wonder why our country didnot progress over 50yrs of independence; as the people from his region ruled for 38 out of 50 years of nationhood. If this is the type the north has as candidate with zoning as a key excuse, I belt they will never smell the seat again.

Politics / Re: Zoning: Nigeria May Plunge Into Problems - Ibb by MEGABHROS1: 9:29am On Oct 29, 2010
What problem? The one they created in 1993 b4 they left us alone? Only defeated persons like the duo of Dokpesi and his boss would result to such statement. I dont think they ever considered the opinion of the public about their intention to rule Nigeria. They have lost b4 the election, such remarks only come from a defeated camp.

As for Dokpesi, people should blame him less. He is hungry for wealth and the only person that can satisfy his desire is the evil genius who stole the common wealth of this nation with impunity. Dont forget his AIT, Ray power staff are not well paid. We should also remeber that his Alagbado station got burnt recently. He needs money, but it is quite unfortunate that he's pitching his tent with a doomed person. If care is not taken, Dokpesi might be sentenced to eternal damnation and his generations might not recover from this, shekina!
Politics / Re: Is Goodluck Jonathan Bribing PDP Delegates With FG Funds? by MEGABHROS1: 10:03pm On Oct 28, 2010
If Military strategist did send the report as claimed then we should be very careful. I want to say it loud and clear that the Oyinbos never meant well for us. Let's read the book by Walter Rodney' How Europe underdeveloped Africa. They never meant well for us. They gain more when things are upside down with us. I wont be surprised if US is supporting IBB candidacy because they definitely know the results he will turn out.
Except we deceived ourselves, the white never wished us well. Their prediction is gradually coming to pass on Nigeria. Let's take the bull by the horn and rescue ourselves from modified colonialism. It should not be US military strategust that should tell who is bribing who. Let us wise up!

@ KAY 1,
Pls do note that the killing of Boko Haram morons didnt just start now. July last year when they struck, I guess Yar'dua was the president and not GEJ. Also note that the sect leader had been taken on several occassions to Abuja for interrogations  b4 he finally met his waterloo. Also ask the real and reasonable moslem in the north, most especially north east, they will tell you that these sects are nothing but a group of jobless morons. To me they could be liken to Metasinin sect in Kano in the early '80s. They were totally wiped out by the federal govt due to their excesses. It would shock you  to discover that a good number of Boko Haram sect are not Nigerians. Pls let learn to argue constructively and also with facts.

@ All,

I guess the problem of this Nation is lack of nationalistic leaders. Our leaders are biased along ethnicity, religion etc.  The AREWA are crying foul now because they lost the grip of the centre. It would interest us to know that they held this centre for 38 out of 50 years of Nigeria existence as a nation. If I were they, I would allow others to try and spare myself all these blaims. Let Ibo man , Itsekri , Edo etc try and let all share the blame. Im not particularly happy with the way every1 is pointing accussing fingers at the north for the majority of problems confronting the nation, while others are seen as being perfect. We have seen the results of Northern's 38yrs inputs out of 50yrs. Hunger, kidnapping, robbery, CORRUPTION, coups and counter coups etc , are some of what the northern reign gave to us. Let wait and see what come out of the south, then we can apportion the blames in the rightful proportions. Northerners should just go and rest while they watch others dong it as well. This life, na turn by turn.

What a group of retards! Can u imagine liken MEND to Boko Haram? It clearly shows the quality of people we have from that side of the country. MENDS b4 being politicized was known for fighting the course of justice over their natural endowments. Ask the objectives of Boko Harams. I guess it is all about going back to stone age where there wont be anything called civilization. People should learn to make sense in their demands and not just open their mouth wide in the name of freedom of speech. Nonsense!

I think someone should issue a query to Othman and make him explain this nonsense. If EFCC has fact to stop politicians from contesting, that fact should be presented in court to nail them. EFCC is just showing how unserious it is as an organization. EFCC was not created to stop politicians from contesting, it was established to prosecute alleged financial criminals

I think the affected will b the ones to go to court to challenge EFCC subnission about them.
Politics / Re: Appeal Court Declares Fayemi As Ekiti State Governor by MEGABHROS1: 10:41pm On Oct 16, 2010
Good news!
This should send us all a warning that we may delay judgement but we cannot prevent it from coming to pass. This is a call to our politicians to do the right thing in the on-coming election. It is a call to to national assembly to adopt the Justice Uwais electoral report and stop rogues from occupying the positions that they didnot win. It is a call to segun Oni to return back to the Ekiti treasury all the allowances and salary he had fraudulently enjoyed for almost 4 years. To 70 years Mama Ayoka, who sold out her conscience cheaply , it is a call to remain steadfast in one's belief inrespective of threats and blackmail. Her name would have remain indelible in the path of history if she had held to what she wrote in her resignation letter. To Prof. Iwu Wurwuru , it is a call to be truthful in national assignment and not to take side when call upon to serve the people of Nigeria. to Fayemi and ACN, it is a call to remain resolute, undaunting and resilient in the pursuit of just course(s) irrespective of distractions and unfriendly and system.

@ BEAF,
I cannot but salute your courage in standing for the truth. The truth they say is always bitter but it will always give birth to a better end. Like you said, some posters have allowed their emotions to cloud their logic. Whatever the case, I pray God will open their heart of understanding and teach them to support a just course. It is not surprising that the likes of Dokpesi , IBB still have supoorters among Nigerian youths. It is just the sign of the end time, as even Lucifer the original devil that shares his name with IBB ,still do have followers.
Each time I read piece on Dokpesi, Independent Bomb Blast , his boss, I asked my self if people still have their conscience. The holy book gave account of how Christ was betrayed by his disciple, Judas Iscariot. Even though this was written and bound to happen, Jesus was quoted as saying that 'woe be unto the man through which the prophesy was fulfilled'.  For DOKPESICK to have allowed himself to be used, it is a big disgrace to him and his company. I want to say that every1 that supports unjust course will evoke the wrath of the living God. 4million naira for an apartment in a state you know you cant win while millions of Nigeria cannot afford 3 square meal. Only God knows what they spent in places like Zamfara, Niger and Sokoto where their chances are brighter. God will deliver us from these vultures.

I think some posters on this forum need to check themselves and find out if they still have an iota of moral in them. I've read about 90% of the posts on this Dokpesi/ IBB case since last night and came to a conclusion that some individual still need to check their sense of morals. I dont see Nigeria moving forward with the crop of this posters. I dont see any moral justification for throwing once lots with a profound dictator who have touched the lives of one family or the other in this country negatively. I find it pretty difficult for any one to start preaching rule of law in favor of a life-time and unrepentant despot. I tend to doubt if people have conscience again. I can now conclude without an iota of ambiguity that most of our leaders still do what they to us with impunity because they know there are people who will still support them irrespective of their acts.
I find it difficult to hear people exonerating the IBB from all the nefarious acts while in power. I dont think God will ever take Nigerians seriously again when next we call on him to safe from the situation we experienced in 1993. it was a case of uncertainty, the country was heading for a doom. i was not told, I saw it black and white. people were moving to their states of origin because of fear of uncertainty. It was like a Xmas time as everyone was forced to relocate. some died in the process due to road accidents. I've read about the ordeal of some widows of ejigbo crash of 1992, infact I met with one of the daughters of the deceased during my youth service. The story is not the palatable one. Endless! I repeat, endless, are the woes that this evil man brought on the entire country. In spite all these, some individuals will still put their filthy hands on their lappy to type jargon. I pray that the innocent blood that was shed by your mentor will never allow you rest all through your live until u learn to use your head right.
Come to think of it, are we that daft as individuals that we cannot trail the path of history and beckon on justice to prevail. Why do we celebrate evil in this nation? Why are we so wicked in our thoughts to allow injustice to pervade our land? No wonder the IBB once said the youths of the nation are not ripe enough to take the mantle of leadership. Why won’t he submit this way, when our youth will never support a just course but rather prefer to follow the money-bags. I weep for this nation! I pity his inhabitant because they are so impoverished in thinking and very unyielding to change. Ask some of the pro-IBB how many of their immediate and extended family ask them weekly or daily for what to eat. Ask them how dilapidated buildings they have in their villages where people live from 'leg to mouth' . Because you can afford to pay internet subscription with one laptop or blackberry phone to access NL forum site does not mean you should forget the welfare of the generality of Nigeria. Nigerians - dead and alive are crying for vengeance, if you are truly a Nigerian, you should stop supporting unjust courses lest we invoke a course on you. A fool is thought wise if he keeps silent.

All,
Pls no war will come from any quarter. Let all those clamouring for war hold the lips if they dont have something meaningful to say.It is time for God to pay the evil genius and dullards in their coins. It is already in the news that Dokpesi is deeply involved and this is to say that his godfather will not be spared. Remember they didnot just start now. 1986 to our Dele Giwa to cover their mess from coming to public knowledge. Now the time of repayment has come. N.T.A promised to release the names of the top unscrupulous evil men in the dirty act as soon as possible.
I dont have any sympathy for the evil genius because his cups are full already. I only pity the mumu Dokpesi who kept deceiving nigerians with his private evil stations for almost 2 decades pretending to be fighting the course of common men. I also pity his best of brains who are left with nothing but a murderer as a boss. The likes of Imoni Amarere, Adebayo Bodunrin, Gbenga Aroleba, Mama Dudu, Joe Abraham etc,  should be dusting their papers as I see FG closing down their means of livelihood. Tell me what is the difference btw Dokpesi and Mutallab. Only God will save this nation from the evil men.

Politics / Re: I Am Being Blackmailed - Ibb by MEGABHROS1: 1:00pm On Sep 29, 2010
Blackmail should be an understatement to what Nigerian hve in cooler for him. I cant believe why you will like to serve the people by force. You dont serve the people by force, people give their mandate to you. I think if Afegbua would do a good job, he and his cohorts should organise a public opinion for their boss, IBB and let it cut across the nation , then they can draw inference from that. Alternatively they could contract it to an independent body so that they wont be laboring in vail .
With what the despot, IBB, called blackmail, let him come out public and swear with Holy Quran if he was indeed free from this allegation. People will not forget his contribution to the bloodshed in the north during OBJ 1st term. Let him also swear that he knew nothing about that too. The era of following protocols has gone. Let 's be more pragmatic in denying allegation. Let him swear then we will know which is which. He was accussed to be the brain behind the Kaduna mayhem in 2000, let him refute this using the medium through which he prays to his God.
As for Dokpesi and co, I pity them and their generations to come because that greek god called Nemesis will definitely catch up with them. I was listen to his reason for joining the IBB on tv last week. If I were him, I would rather be neutral rather than been on the fore front. He supported IBB because he felt it was the turn of the north to rule. Let him come out and tell us that he needed money to revive his burnt & dying media house and not deceiving nigerians. Why didnt he support Atiku or Gusau. He that work with the wise will be wise but a companion of fools will not be foolish but will be destroyed( Holy bible, Prov.).
Politics / Re: Igbo Leaders Summit: Ohakim Prevents Igbo Leaders From Holding Meeting by MEGABHROS1: 12:28pm On Sep 29, 2010
@ All,

Forget who is in power and weilding the stick to his favor at the detriment of others. It is a normal thing in Nigeria to do that in order to achieve their aim in power. Some people called it the power of incumbency. What ever name given to this, it is not a good act at all. But one thing stands tall, no saints exist among politicians. Give Nnamani, Ekwueme and others the opportunity and they will even do worse. Politicians are like that, we need not to symphatize with them. Ask Ekwueme what himself and Shahgari did against the popular choice of Nigerians in 1983 before the military vexed and took over. They are all birds of a feather. I only see the populace rising to the occassion and rescueing themsemslves from these vultures called politicians one day. Pls leave them and have some thing better to talk about as some will still pay with their lives soon. Yes! God will pay some of them for their wrong doings through diasgreement among themselves which will later result in assasination, molestation etc. Nemesis is a greek god, it does not riun or fly. All it does is limping and no matter how fast you can run , it will catch up with you as evil doer.
Leave those at the receiving end now, some of them did same in the past. Those who are doing theirs now will on day wake up to have their rewards in full. Only God knows when this cycle will come to an end.

@ ALL,

IT IS HIGHLY SURPRISING THAT AN ALLEGATION OF RENTED CROWD IS COMING FROM SARAKI CAMP. SO HE AND HIS USELESS FATHER NOW KNOW THAT RENTING CROWD IS NOT A GOOD THING, , E YAH! I THINK IT SHOULD ALSO DAWN ON THEM THAT POLITICAL KILLING , MASSIVE RIGGING, CANDIDATE IMPOSITION , THUGGERY AND WIPING AWAY OF ALL NOTABLE GENRALS IN KWARA STATE ARE AS GREVIOUS A POLITICAL SIN JUST AS RENTING A CROWD TO A POLITICAL RALLY.
I WONDER WHY THE FEELING IS COMING NOW . SO THE MAN TOO HAS FLESH AND BLOOD FLOWING IN HIM. THEY SHOULD NOT FORGET IN A RUSH WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO KWARA AS A STATE. THEY HAVE TURNED THE STATE TO THEIR OWN SITTING ROOM WHERE THEY RULE AND LAVISH OUR WEALTH WITH IMPUNITY.
MY ADVICE TO HIM IS TO STOP BEING STUPID AND GO AND SPEND THEIR LOOTS IN REVIVING THE SOCIETIE BANK THAT THEY'VE RUINED. IT IS A BIG MISTATKE TO THINK THAT HE( SARAKI) CAN RULE NIGERIA JUST LIKE THEY DID, AND STILL DOING, IN KWARA. I DONT BLAME HIM AT ALL. I ONLY BLAME THE GEJ AND HIS FORMER BOSS WHO ALLOWED THEM MUCH POWER VIS-A -VIS THE GOVERNOR'S FORUM. WHAT IS GOVERNORS' FORUM? WHAT PROVISIONS DO WE HAVE IN OUR CONSTITION BACKING SUCH ILLEGAL FORUM. because HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF BEING THE CHAIRMAN, HE THOUGHT HE COULD LORD IT ON THE ENTIRE NIGERIAN.
WHATEVER THE REMARKS FROM SARAKI, IT HOLDS NO WATER. ALL THE ROADS HE'S CURRENTLY DOING IN ILORIN WERE FORCED ON HIM BY GEJ ADMINISTATRION. THE DEATH OF YAR'ADUA REALLY EXPOSED HIM AS HE ACTUALLY THOUGHT OF STEALING THE MONEY MEANT FOR THESE PROJECTS- GARAGE OFFA ROAD IN ILORIN IS ONE OF THESE. THE FAMILY IS CURRENTLY FEEDING ON THE COMMON WEALTH OF KWARANS. IT IS NOW THE TURN OF THE DAUGHTER TO RULE AFTER THE SON. ONLY GOD CAN RESCUE US IN KWARA.

Seccession? They cant try it because they have nothing to sell to make money. Are we talking of cows and tomatoes? What earnings can the exchange of these bring to them with their wide mouth. They all have the oil blocks that their forefathers knew not how it came to be. Ask them their pyramid of G/nut, no where to be found- oil blocks have blocked their thinking faculty. I'm happy with the current scenerios in the polity. It shows that the south too now have the power to shake the country. I think they should be preparing for a total seccession because Nigeria as a nation is a mistake from the stupid Lord Lugard. We are never one and we can never be. I think when we all go back to the basis , nothern Nigeria will be like current Niger republic. Have you ever heard of conflicts amond the ethnic groups there in Niger? Absolutely no! Just because the country is built along people of like-minds and interests. Nigeria almagation of 1914 was the greatest mistake the whites made and that will keep hunting us until we seccede. We are all alive now, seh? Pls ask the number of people that have lost their lives in the incessant crisis in the north. I think let everybody bears his father name and we will have peace that is absolute. Secession is a necessary evil, whether now or in future, ponto!
Politics / Re: Boycot Daar Communications (AIT) Now! by MEGABHROS1: 1:19am On Sep 03, 2010
@ All,
Let me use this medium to pour out my mind on this issue. I actually thought of posting this topic the first day I saw this in the news but it did escape my mind. I used to take the so-called high chief very seriously, little did I know he was part of the problems of this country. Why Babangida of all persons? There is a popular saying that ' birds of a feather flock together'. I strongly join those who believe that the so-called Dokpesi is a big time thief. Show me your friend and I will tell you the kind of person you are. It is now clear to every1 now that the man is more interested in making money at the expense of nigerians than using his media outfits to fight the course of just and equity. It is a pity that RAy power we contributed money to salvage from total collapse could turn their back on us and follow a doomed person. History has it that at the brink of bankruptcy in 1996/97 in Lagos , people donated to make sure the station survives the inbroglo. It is a pity that the same station is the one waging war against the progress of Nigeria by supporting the no. 1 enemy of democracy in Africa- Ibb.
I seriously pity the likes of Adebayo Bodunrin, Gbenga Aroleba, Imoni Amarere, Ambrose Somide, Iya Dudu, Joe Abraham to mention but a few , whose career might suffer if care is not taken. These people have tried so much and the best advice I can give them is to take a bow and leave. I was listeing to the political platform programme on Ray power on tues and i could notice how the guys have suddenly changed their tones. They kept questioning the rationale behind South-west endorsement of GEJ for 2011 while they felt indifferent about their boss being a friend to the enemy of the nation. They devoted their time explaining to listeners why Dokpesi personalty is different from the media outfit he used his fortune to establish. I felt really dissapointed since men of their calibre could descend so low to think nigerians are so dull to believe their fallacious submisions.
The big lesson here is not to rely on any one as being capable of fighting our course. The only way out is for every1 to go out and vote for the right person. I'm indifferent as to where the president comes from , but wont pray somebody like Ibb come to rule us again. From the opinion poll I've seen so far, the man is far from it, Dokpesi is only wasting his precious time.
Politics / Re: Sanusi In Tears; Says Reforms Are Not A Northern Agenda! by MEGABHROS1: 4:43pm On May 16, 2010
@ Paddy-lo
Spot on!Good point!! I think you made the best of sense on this note. Let those who understand the tenets of economics figure out the dichotomy between wealth creation and wealth re-distribution.
As for Sanusi, I think he has just begun. He thought he could use reforms to mask the truth about his mission. He was only having a myopic view about how the economy works. Economy is not made up of only financial sector alone. He should be reminded of the bond between the real sector and the financial sector and how they interelate. He should not also forget that government and her agencies have a key role to play in making the marriage of these two sectors a success. May be I should remind him that National Income is Modelled as : Y= C + I + G
Sanusi kept fighting the war in the financial while nothing was coming from the other. He was busy sanitising the sector while his employer and his cohorts were busy eating us up like cancerworms. Let him be told that the halting of Ibori trial by his former appointer dealt more to the people of Delta and Nigeria in general than those he was fighting in the financial sector. Where was he when the likes of Erastus and Jim Ovia left the merchants banks( IMB etc) in the early 90s to form the banks we now have today. Were his military northern brothers not the ones in power then? If he was indeed brilliant and could compete with his peers, he should have floated one too. He should ask himself how Soludo was able to hold the economy firm despite the so-called distortions and global recession. Let him understand the fact that the society is not an apple which if a part got damaged could still be peeled off and eaten; but see the society like that of an egg. A spoilt egg is a spoilt egg, ponto! An attempt to sanitise a sector of the society where the entire society is rottened could be tantamount to a wild goose chase.
There are distortions everywhere, not only in the banking industry. I can see a good result if the govt can bring in reforms that put things in shape. If not, the man will be held responsible for all the problems in the economy. I stand to be corrected , but I think right policies in wrong environment will result in wrong output. Let there be a stop to inflation of contracts, abandonments of contracts, bribery in high places and massive looting like Ibori, then we can make meaning from the bank reforms as the financial sector does not operate in isolation.

In my own view, I think the woman gave them( Politicians) what they deserved. I think the likes of Waku and Mark need only to be sincere not only to themselves but the entire nation. You can not know how exactly you look until someone tells you. You can not be a judge in ur own case. the woman has told us blantant truth; all we need to do is to accept our faults and do the needful.
We are only deceiving ourselves in Nigeria. The single fact is that things are not right and the only way round is to practise the real democracy and not the Nigeria-type democracy as Mark claimed. I think the man should be ashamed of himself for saying Nigeria practise her own model of Democracy. This same man was raising alarm on TV last month during one of the energy summits in Abuja. He was comaparing the use of domestic gas in Nigeria to the rest of the world. All he said that sort of indicted the govt was never aired by NTA but Channel TV gave it to us all. then Tell me who is fooling who? the govt that is not doing well is been viewed by the outside world. Thank God our president saw things for himself in Brazil. Why would Mrs Clinton criticise the the brazilian govt when everything was working. Benue stae governor said he was ashamed to hear Brazil having 106,000 MW whwn we are dreaming of 6000MW by this year end.
Our govt has failed us. Just as Soyinka pointed some days ago in Kano, Nigeria is heading toward a one -Party stae which is detrimental to the fundamenta objectives of Democracy
Politics / Ekiti Re-run Election: Democrazy At Gun-point by MEGABHROS1: 6:51pm On May 10, 2009
Dear Nairalanders,
Attached is an article on the just conclude re-run guber election in Ekiti state. Source: The Nation News paper, 9th of May ,2009.
Excerpts:

A MID tension and police threats to shoot protesters, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Segun Oni was last night declared winner of the April 25 Ekiti rerun governorship election.

At about 9.05p.m., after about a one-hour protest by Action Congress (AC) agents and chieftains, a group of policemen encircled the protesters – some pointing their guns at them.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Mrs Ayoka Adebayo whispered into the ears of the police chief, Yakubu Alkali, who sat beside her.

Alkali nodded his head in response to what she told him and she announced the results: Oni (111,140 votes) and AC candidate Kayode Fayemi (107,017 votes).

Mrs Adebayo declared: "By the power conferred on me by the INEC chairman, Prof. Maurice Iwu, I hereby return Engr. Segun Oni, PDP candidate, as the winner of the rerun held on 25

th of April, 2009."

Alkali and others formed a shield around Mrs Adebayo and took her away to an undisclosed destination.

Before signing the result sheet, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Opeyemi Bamidele warned Mrs Adebayo of the consequences of announcing what he described as a fake result. Echoing him, Lagos lawyer Femi Falana said the result will remain illegal because Mrs Adebayo violated the Electoral Act.

Outside the Christ Girls’ School collation centre, the dark skyline was thickened by smoke from bonfires Opopogboro, Fajuyi and other roads were barricaded as the action spread.

Tempers rose inside the Christ Girls’ School, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, where the final results of the election were collated.

Members of the Action Congress (AC) apparently displeased with the results of Ido-Osi Local Government, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 15, 939 votes to AC’s 3,793, rejected the tally.

Led by Bimbo Daramola, activist-lawyer Femi Falana, who represented the National Conscience Party (NCP), former Ekiti Governor Niyi Adebayo and Lagos Information Commissioner Opeyemi Bamidele, they condemned the result, describing it as doctored.

They rebuffed appeals by Mrs Adebayo and Alkali to let peace reign as they kept shouting: "One-man-one-vote".

Their action halted the announcement of the final results by the REC for some hours. The situation degenerated, with people rising in turns to speak. Mrs Adebayo and security operatives watched as the drama unfolded.

At a stage, the protesters started singing: "All we are saying, give us real results. All we are saying give us real figures. All we are saying, no more rigging. All we are saying, our votes must count."

Some of the aggrieved people were also chorusing: "If you want to shoot, shoot us. We are ready to die." They also sang the National Anthem.

The Ekiti REC, who eventually caved-in to pressure, admonished the losers of the rerun to go to court, after the electoral officers for Ekiti-East, Ekiti-West, Ikole, Ido-Osi and Oye local governments had announced the results.

"Let us behave in an orderly manner. If anybody is not pleased (with the results), we have the law courts there," said Mrs Adebayo.

Soon after the electoral officer for Ido-Osi had announced the result on the orders of Mrs Adebayo, members of the AC and the NCP raised objections. The electoral officer for the local government, Mr James Akao, said the poll was won by the PDP with 15, 939 as against the AC’s 3,793.

Daramola, representing the AC raised an objection, saying the result was unacceptable to the party.

"We will not accept a result that was cooked up. The 15,939 votes given to the PDP does not reflect the true figures, it does not reflect the trend in the election rerun. My party will not accept this fraudulent election result," Daramola told the REC.

PDP’s agent Senator Kila said the AC should go to court to challenge the outcome of the election.

Falana said the result of the election represents the "travesty of democracy". He urged the REC to act according to her conscience.

Mr Falana told The Nation that a conscious attempt had been made to skew the election in favour of the PDP. "What we see is a deliberate move to skew the election in favour of the PDP and outrightly against the interest of the people of Ekiti. The REC has failed to live by public expectations."

Daramola said the results of Ido-Osi, following the trend of the election could not have been up to 15,000 in all not to talk of one of the contending political parties winning by a wide margin of close to 11,000.

"What we see is an irresponsible effort to undermine the resolution and the desire of Ekiti people. The Ido-Osi results should have been cancelled based on the violence and the fraud associated with the process," he told The Nation.

Election in Ekiti East, Ekiti West, Ikole and Ido-Osi were held on April 25, but the results could not be collated, in view of the disappearance of the 74-year-old REC. The Oye rerun took place yesterday.

The Ekiti REC, who earlier stated that she was under tremendous pressure from undisclosed sources, but promised to work in line with her conscience, as a Christian, could not match her words with action at the crucial moment.

Upholding the controversial results from Ido-Osi which was hit by violence and massive rigging, led to protests at the collation centre.

Fayemi hails from Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area. Oni is from Ifaki-Ekiti in Ido-Osi Local Government Area.

Only three of the 11 wards of Ido-Osi had been collated when violence erupted at the INEC office, following resistance of an attempt to smuggle in already thumb-printed ballot papers by PDP’s supporters. The office was eventually razed.

AC chair Jide Awe said Mrs Adebayo had compromised her position.

He doubted if she could still lay claim to any conscience.

AC leader in the House of Assembly Niyi Afuye said the u-turn by Mrs Adebayo was "confounding", stressing that she finally did the bidding of the PDP.

AC deputy chair Dele Falusi said INEC had finally murdered democracy in Ekiti.

He said posterity would judge Mrs Adebayo.

Daramola said Mrs Adebayo’s action spelled doom for many Ekiti who had expressed confidence in "one man, one vote".

"Is this how you are professing your faith? Where is your conscience now? Have you finally collected the money PDP promised you? As you go out of this place you will be alone in bed with your conscience," Daramola shouted after Mrs Adebayo.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said last night that it did not rig the re-run.

Its National Publicity Secretary Prof. Rufai Alkali said: "We did not rig the poll. Everybody was part of the process and the collation of results was transparent. This is a country you hear of rigging from opponents when they lose election.

"I am sure you are aware that observations on the conduct of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Ayoka Adebayo, came from all parties. These comments and observations drove sense into her and she decided to return to her duty post."

He said Oni’s victory had confirmed that Ekiti is a PDP state.

He said: "The National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, on behalf of the National Working Committee, wishes to congratulate Engr. Segun Oni over his victory at the recent rerun election in Ekiti State.

"We have been vindicated. We have said it before and it has been proven beyond doubt that Ekiti is a PDP state.

"We wish to commend the people of Ekiti State. Despite all the challenges and obstacles, they remained resolute.

"We ask all those who lost out in this election to sheathe their swords and join Governor Oni in rebuilding Ekiti State."
