Not too long ago, my former colleague, Frank, stayed with me for a few months. He was transferred from another town to the town where I was staying, and because he didn’t have anywhere to stay, and also because I was staying all alone in a big guest house, I gave him a room. Now whichever way you look at it, Frank is not handsome: he is short (about 5ft 3” or thereabout), has a little pot belly and generally does not dress well. Another thing about Frank is that he is extremely stingy and would never spend his money on any woman except where it is absolutely unavoidable. But Frank sure has a way with women! I can’t recollect the exact the number of women he brought home and slept with those few months – they were simply too many. He came home every other day with different women of different sizes and in some instances he even had more than one in a day. Now most of these women were very tall and very pretty; in fact he never came home with any ugly girl or any girl that was shorter than him, and anyway, any girl would have had to be a terrible dwarf to be shorter than him. The more amazing thing is that the ladies seemed to keep strictly to the times he allotted to them, none ever came out of turn or uninvited, and he easily ended any of the relationships once he felt he had had enough. I finally gave him quit notice when my girlfriend at the time started getting fond of him.

But I have never ceased to wonder about Frank and women. Short, pot-bellied and stingy as he is, what in the world does he tell these women that make them fall over him so? Folks does anyone have any idea what Frank tells these women?

Super Eagles defender, Joseph Yobo, took former Miss Nigeria, Adaeze Igwe, to the altar during Cross-over Night at the Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI), Jos.


Yobo who flew into the country for the wedding preferred to make a low-key occasion with his new heartthrob. He took many by surprise with the congregation amazed such could take place on New Year eve worship night.


The General Overseer of EBOMI, Prophet   Isah El-Buba, while officiating at the wedding, which ran into the early hours of January 1, described Yobo and his wife as  new, born-again Christians who gave their lives to Jesus  during their recent  encounter with him in London.


He said duo have dropped their past lifestyles and embraced God in their lives and have also decided to live together for the rest of their lives, urging them to always make God the ultimate in all their undertaken.


The Prophet described marriage as an institution ordained by God and as such ‘whosoever finds a wife has found a good thing and obtained favour from God’. He said ‘marriage should be taken with all the seriousness it deserves, adding that tolerance is an essential ingredient of good marriage.


Governor Jonah Jang and his executives who were guests at the wedding joined in praying for the couple. The Governor advised the young couple to live in love for each other, urging Yobo to remain steadfast in the Lord with his wife.
Yobo, who refused to speak to the few media practitioners around for the Crossover night, immediately left with his invitees to their hotel, where they had arranged for a special reception.

The global economic downturn is real! Presently no less than 100 banks have failed in the United States this year leading to massive job losses.

Soludo deserves credit for the fact no Nigerian bank has collapsed as a result of the global downturn. Soludo's consolidation which forced the banks to increase their capital, made the banks very strong, and afforded them capacity to finance big ticket transactions; this is good for the economy. If Soludo had not done what he did, by now many Nigerian banks would have collapsed as a result of the global downturn, and of course not only would thousands of people have lost their jobs; several other thousands would have lost their deposits and life savings.

Ensuring good corporate governance was always mainly the responsibility of the management of the banks. The banks got into trouble because of recklessness on the part of the managers of the banks in managing the funds they got from consolidation and laxity in credit administration. The managers of these banks must therefore now answer to the outcome of their actions.

But the managers of the banks are not entirely to blame. When the capital market crashed in Nigeria as elsewhere, trillions of Naira were lost. Much of that money belonged to the banks that had financed share purchases by way of credits to investors. To a large extent, the huge losses suffered by Nigerian banks are directly linked to the global downturn. Why should anyone therefore single out any Nigerian for slaughter over the global economic downturn?

Intra-city public transport system is very inefficient, and Okada is about the only means of public transport in Akwa Ibom. Aside that, Okada is certainly one of the biggest employers of labour in that state! These realities should be addressed by the govt before any ban!

I can remember how excited and exciting she used to be during departmental elections, and so on. But now, a few years down the line, at thirty and unmarried, she looked so dejected, downcast, and all the spark and excitement was all but gone. This r/ship will have end soon. I have gotten used to this woman these past few months, and so I know I‘ll miss her after she has gone. I‘ll miss her company, I‘ll miss her friendship, I‘ll miss those smiles, I‘ll miss her intelligence and brilliance, I‘ll miss her jokes and I ‘m sure I‘ll miss the other one too. But only if she didn’t have such a past! How can I marry a woman that now and again we‘ll run into some man waving at my wife – one of the men she used to romp with? I can’t live with that

Apologies for not responding before now to some of the comments and suggestions here. These past few days have been some of my busiest; of course I have to work to earn income to do things like finance my dates, pay for internet subscription to have access to NL and all… I hope you understand.
Thanks to everyone for all the comments and suggestions so far received. Some have been useful, some insulting, and some useless. Most did not address the main concern – which is how to seamlessly exit the r/ship without leaving a hurt.

Thnks for some of the things you said and for defending my cause. But then you accuse me of hypocrisy, and to which I plead not guilty. If I have a dirty past, must I marry someone that has a dirty past too? If u are a dwarf, must u also marry a dwarf, so u can start a generation of dwarfs? If ur target is to marry someone who is cleaner than u, how is that hypocrisy? And if I choose not marry a person who is like me, is that not a choice I ‘m entitled to make?

U talk about second chance to make amends. In life, sometimes there is no second chance. U are only a virgin once, and once it’s broken, there is no second chance; be sure therefore to give it only to the right person.  U accuse me also of selfishness, and yes this love they talk about is essentially selfish. If not, how come no one falls in love with mad men and women on the streets?

As for my own background check: yes I had some relationships before I met her, but still I do not expect the woman I marry to have a long chain of ex-boyfriends. See, every single woman that hopes to marry in future has a duty live the kind of life that that her husband would be proud of when they eventually meet. The number of EXs in this case is many and I don’t appreciate that at all

Anyway, the issue now is how to end it all without much hurt

It all started in a bus station ten months ago. I was waiting at the station to board a bus from PH to Calabar, when suddenly this lady appeared. She was and still is one of the most attractive women I have ever seen. Talking about looks, she had everything: very tall (about 5ft 11), perfectly aligned front and back elevation, glowing skin, perfect dentition, etc. When she walked, her hips had this lazy movement that aroused every sexual passion within me. Fortunately or unfortunately, when we finally boarded the bus to begin our journey, she was sitting right beside me! Applying all the toasting skills I knew, I started a conversation and we jisted all through the nearly four-hour journey. In the end, we exchange phone numbers and parted ways. That night I put a call through to her and after talking on phone for a number of days, she agreed to visit. As envisaged, the first day of her visit ended in bed, and after several rounds of …, we slept; she ended up spending four days on that occasion. From then on, we practically lived together, doing everything together. I have been quite very happy in this relationship and I believe she has too.

Recently however, she has been suggesting that I go and see her parents to formalize the relationship. She has most of the qualities I want, and ordinarily I wouldn’t have any objection to her suggestion. But as I consider marriage more serious business that ordinary relationship, I went behind to carry out independent checks of her past and what I found out are not positive at all. She was quite loose. It’s so bad that if she were to pass through the street she lived when she was growing up, she will be sure to run into several men she had either slept with or used to sleep with.

Now even though I have been happy in my relationship with this woman, I cannot marry her because of where she is coming from. Her past is too much for me. I can’t imagine being married to a woman I can’t comfortably walk on the road with without running into one man or the other she used to Bleep. So I have made up my mind to end it all. She doesn’t know yet that I want to leave and I know she is going feel hurt when it happens. Now I don’t have anything personal against her and do not wish to hurt her, if it  is avoidable; so  my dilemma is how to end all this in way that she will not feel hurt or at least in a way that the hurt will be reduced. Or perhaps is it best to try and forgive her past? I really need suggestions here cos I need to move on and get my life back on track.
