Family / Re: My Mother-In-law Just Walked Into My House Without A Notification by megareal: 1:16am On Apr 15, 2021
Klass99:

I usually speak from my own personal experiences and encounters, not out of baseless speculations. I am surrounded by married women who have voiced out 85% of what Megareal said in his/her post. I don't know up to 10 married women who are sincerely glad about their married lives. Did they make bad choices? I wouldn't know because I don't know what their choices were based on.

10 is even pushing it too far, I don't know 5 sef. If you're familiar with some of my posts you'll see that I've talked about a cousin and classmates who have echoed some of the same sentiments in Megareal's post. I don't think the post is biased or sentimental, because it reflects the reality of my married relatives, friends and classmates (the ones who have been bold/candid enough to speak their truth)

I am not an eater or swallower of bad news either, if or when I hear about good marriages or women thriving in theirs, it lights up my heart because it's different and it's like a breath of fresh air from the typical stories I've heard, offline and online. But, I will not refrain from sharing my thoughts on the subject matter of marriage either, when I said it feels like entrapment from where I stand, I meant what I said because it does feel that way to and for someone like me.

Irrespective of the negativity around marriage, it hasn't stopped me from still wanting marriage for the companionship and sex only. I can have all the sex I want outside marriage but I would rather do it within bounds my God/creator would approve of. You can share stories of good marriages and women who have thrived with it as well, to let people know it's not all gloom and doom, the same way I share mine to let women know there's nothing wrong with putting themselves first, embracing a livelihood and a life for themselves first, before diving into marriage and motherhood.

I have shared my cousin and classmates stories here for sensible women to learn something from it, I don't share to pull down the institution of marriage. If you noticed, I specifically said Megareal's post captures the reality of the married women in my life - a reality shared by them not assumed by me. I didn't generalize that all married women feel trapped because I don't know every married woman on the planet.

Don't bother explaining, the men will never understand. They have been conditioned to believe that whatever they offer women in marriage is what the woman needs. If only they knew what goes on in a typical mind of that smiling wife, they would have an ice-cold day. If they but know that an average Nigerian wife thinks about absconding at least twice a week, they would know so many women are pretending and are just hanging on.

I run a group for women. I belong to other groups as well. The courage to speak out to the opposite gender isn't there for most of them, yet among fellow women, you hear the sad truth and wonder why nobody is talking about this. I have statistics on these women. I counsel those I can and pray for those I can't reach.

Marriage with the right person is a beautiful thing truly, but how many people are right for each other these days? How many operate marriages the way God would want them to?

P.s. I reiterate, there are exceptions to every rule.

Shalom.

Lol, how would you know for sure? Are you married? If yes, are you male or female?

I would like to hear your thoughts on why you boldly said it's entrapment if you don't mind sharing.
It is entrapment.

From infancy, the African woman especially is brainwashed to believe marriage favours her. She goes in with all excitement and discovers the truth: that she is the one who loses everything and gains very little.

She wants to run out, but societal opinion on one hand and the eyes of her innocent children on the other hand won't let her. So she buckles up and plods on, pretending to all that it is well. Yet in the quiet of the night, she tells herself, I wish I didn't get married and feels guilty for thinking it.

Life fleets by, her dreams are on hold and so is her life. Every one believes she has no vision except to be a wife. But inside is a burning passion for what she has always wanted to be, yet can't because she has to give everyone else herself, her time and her life. So she settles for the mundane like a regular job, or a business that gives her enough time to run the home.

Very late in life, she realises that she should have sought for her happiness and darn the consequence. She should have let the homefront suffer and pursue her dreams.

At old age comes wisdom, she understands that, she didn't need to marry at all. All she ever wanted could have been attained without a man.

Ps, there are exceptions to every rule but the majority of the women I talk to would rather be single than married. Most agree they feel caged.

You just articulated my thoughts, yet they keep saying marriage favours us more than them.

From where I stand and what I've seen, it feels more like entrapment.

Which herdsmen again? The same herdsmen that have been evicted by Sunday Igboho? I don't understand.

That aside, I don't know why some Nigerians are making things difficult for themselves! If RUGA is the solution, why not embrace it? What is common land?

Yesterday, a young man approached me, demanding I cede my 10 hectares of land to him else I won't like what would follow. I pleaded with him, but he refused, insisting he needed the land for an undisclosed business. To avoid issues, I left the land for him - for peace to reign.

So you see? It's not worth it! If RUGA is the solution, let's accept it for peace to reign. Doesn't make any sense killing yourselves cos of grass..

Nigeria go better.
You are the greatest coward of all time.

Why is nobody asking why the poster who is assumed a random guy that accidentally witnessed the incident was able to now have access to her NYSC and photo-op pictures, but not that of her at the crime scene with blood stains.
He conveniently gave the excuse of the pictures or videos being so disgusting that he can't post them, but has access to pictures of a random girl that committed a crime, conveniently claiming the young lady is his friend on Facebook.
Until the crime and lady involved is ascertained,I suspect this maybe a case of a FB user blackmailing an innocent young girl.
I saw the video of her being stripped naked and beaten. A friend posted it on her WhatsApp status. It's a pity sha

What is Buhari's ties with this Niger Republic? Why always them. He is hell bent on empowering these people at all cost. I bet if you trace his root, you will find him a bonafide member of a community in Niger. Let the South continue to fight themselves, while the North is pushing an agenda that will soon drown us all.
