Don’t go and build mediocre clinic and be calling it hospital o. |
sonnie10:There are some for food-grades. Not for chemical. Not all of them brought chemicals. That’s why I said those that brought chemicals can be decontaminated. It is 100% possible. Even the brands we buy at high cost can bè cancerous. They are all made of chemicals. There are some that bring syrups, flavors etc. read the labels on them. None of them has ever brought hazardous chemicals. Maximum, they will bring glue. Hazardous chemicals are not stored in such containers. You can ask chemical engineers and production managers at factories. I have worked at various multinational companies factories for more than 20 years and I know what I am saying. This thread is not for advert but it to enlighten each other. Let’s brainstorm and solve many problems together. Let’s argue constructively and reach a win-win conclusion. Let’s set ourselves free from exploiters amongst us. Building house in Nigeria is not costly. It’s because we don’t have up-to-date information on so many things. That’s why we pay more for less quality. Modified. These sites can be useful for woodworkers and engineers in the house. cutlistoptimizer.com blocklayer.com https://hammockdave.com/cutting-board-calculator |
nurd:There are newly-built estates in Ikeja. That’s what they used. Each apartment has two of the tank. |
oduncojamaica:I would rather buy imported, food-grade or decontaminated tanks than waste my money on all those robber/plastic yeye brands those Asian companies manufacture for us. Both robber and plastic are substandard. ‘Robber-made’ tanks too leak quickly. Just that it’s a bit better than plastic own. High water pressure causes it to start leaking under 2 years. The resin and other chemical compositions in the purported robber grade are deliberately made to be lesser and substandard. I don’t want to mention any brand but all I know is that the last time any of them made good tank was in 1993. Quote me anywhere. If you want piece of mind, go for imported food-grade tanks or thoose properly decontaminated ones. They are usually brought to Nigeria by manufacturing companies when bringing chemicals or food-grade additives. The only down-side on it is that: it is usually in 1,000 liters. Another pro of it is that: the robber is strong because those who manufactured it did because of safety of the contents in it firstly, and to withstand many weathers and other rough handlings. They usually come on pallets and in cages. They are cheaper. They sell between N25k to N40k, depending on how clean or how graded they are. Make sure the one used to bring chemical are properly decontaminated before buying. Or try and decontaminate it if you know how to do it. Some Nigerians are already going to China to bring brand new ones of those tanks. Please run away from new ones. They are fa.ke. I have attached photos of new (black, in this case), and used ones (white, in this case.

Some of them are stated offenders and are in state prisons. So some money will come from donors )as said in the news) and go to states. Not all will be like owó Àbú… I know they will s.teal some money in the process sha. Make dem sha release the innocent ones. |
lorhema:Gedu is a kind of tree that grows well in Southwest Nigeria. Ask timber fellers. They will show you one. It is stronger than Iroko and Wallnut trees. Just that our people have nearly cut and exported everything abroad. The wood sells like hot-cake abroad. |
sonnie10:Even with custom made, I guarantee you that it’s only the wood used that can be original. Those artisans know how to cut corners. You, as a layman in that trade, won’t know how they have succeeded in chea.ting you. May be the artwork or the design you ask them to put in the door too can be original. If you want your door to be 95% original, buy your mortise engine and door handles and hinges from an OEM shop or store or online and mark it before handing it over to those carpenters. You can also wait while they fix it. Wetin we never see. We have seen situations where drivers diverted doors with original engines and handles elsewhere and changed all the locks to China made before handing the door over to the owner. Come to think of it, there are hinges of €4 here that can carry a weight of up to 300kg. That’s like N4500 per hinge. Not a butterfly hinge o. Their own butterfly hinges too start from that range but they are stronger than those substandards we are used to in Nigeria. You would believe with me that the same butterfly hinge is being sold around N3k to N5k in Nigeria. Any of us who os doing housing projects in Nigeria and has family or trusted friends in Europe or America can ask them to help buy and ship through our brothers and sisters who do cargo handlings. The biggest Ghana-must-go bag filled with goods here is being shipped to Nigeria at N80k. That bag can contain about 50 medium-sized door handles, engines and hinges. Buying that would give you rest of mind. One would know he is not changing or repairing doors in the next 7 to 10 years, if at all there would be need for repair. |
sonnie10:That’s like N120k per door handle. Which carpenter will now use such handle to make door and want to sell at N150k? Thanks you confirm my assertions. People don’t know that what are being imported into Nigeria from Asia are tras.h. Many of our door handles are only quoted in brass paints. They are substantially substandard, in all ramifications - including the ones being touted as Turkey 🇹🇷 these days. Nearly everything and anything you can find on Konga, Jiji etc and our shops are knocked-off versions of the original ones. Nearly everything! That’s why the US and European governments are warning their citizens to desist from buying stuffs from online sellers who are known to be Asians. Asian manufacturers have started infiltrating the West with cheaper, substandard products in recent times. Sites like Temu, Banggood, etc are expanding their frontiers on a large scale. Our people from Nigeria buy cheaply there and ship to Europe before they reroute those items to Nigeria. |
gabbytabby:👍👍 |
sonnie10:I have practical experience in this area. The keys are substandard, China-made keys. They sell for between N7,000 and N13,000, depending on which shop you are buying it. Fairly ok engine with keys are not that type you are seeing on the door and they start from N20k upward. Which Nigerian carpenter would want to use a 20k door engine on a door that less than 50k will finish it? Just be gentle with the key. Oil the key hole at intervals because they are made of rusty bad steel materials. They are only quoted in shiny paints outside. |
gabbytabby:I know some guys in Oyo and Osun. It’s good you look for someone around there in Lagos. Watch out, they may want to collect diesel money from you. Insist on buying the diesel for them on as-needed basis. They won’t finish all they want to collect from you. Just have your kegs available and stay with them. When we did a project about a month ago, they insisted on collecting 200k cash for diesel. I told them my bro runs a filling station and he has promised me diesel on credit. That one weak dem 😁. Eventually, we used a little over and above 100k diesel and we saved one extra day of renting their machines and pay-loader again. Try and also maintain good rapport with the operator(s). He/they may finish all your work within a day for you, if you start early and save you some cash from renting till next day. Just promise them a little addition to their operators’ fee. |
gabbytabby:Where are you based, please? |
ladyteeks:The first pix is wood - soft wood but painted to look like hardwood. Shouldn’t be more than 60k because it was not professionally made but don’t be surprised they will want to sell it to your from N145k to N180k. The second door looks like either HDF or fine plywood. Could cost between 70k and 120k (though over priced). Be ready to change the door handles after 6 months or in 1 year’s time. Don’t be in a hurry to lock 🔒 or unlock the doors because the keys are not strong and could get hooked in the engines. |
Laryy360:Make dem automate 99.99% of passport processing and give REASONABLY SUFFICIENT automated timeline for each task for every officer and failure to complete such tasks within stipulated timelines should amount to disciplinary action or automatic loss of certain bonuses. They can build public collection center like that of mailboxes but in a digital form where passport documents can be deposited for the rightful owners with only electronic access to the lock or lockers. They can give this to private companies to run. E-commerce companies do it. We don suffer enough in Nigeria to dey enjoy life. We have resources that most of the best European countries don’t have, yet, our people still suffer. They should go and learn from Estonia. It’s only wedding or divorce that you can’t conduct online in Estonia. Everything is automated. |
ViceGovernor:They are not reaching Abidjan. It’s just a code name given to the road. Each country will do its own section. Nigeria is stopping at Seme Border. That’s if dem never weak or kaput before getting to Agbara sha. |
Is04970:But the asphalt they are bringing /using are either fake or substandard. They are also expensive, due to exchange rates fluctuations. If you see Apapa-Oworonsoko-Ojota Road that Dangote did with concrete, that’s when you would know concrete is better especially for roads in Lagos and our coastal areas due to flooding, heavy rainfalls and wetness of the land. That Lagos-Abidjan corridor is a coastal road, with heavy vehicular movement. The soil there is too loose, as well. They need solid concrete. They shouldn’t be stingy with better cement and iron rods reinforcements. |
PrimeQuay:For the 8” mold, no be say dem say, they did it for me. My boy caught them after they have molded 100 blocks. In Osun State, stone dust sellers (quarry)don’t sell 30 tons. Max they sell is 25 tons but anybody who promises you of 30 tons is gonna rip you. What they will buy for you is going to be between 20 and 25 tons because the tipper they will use for you can only carry 20+ tons. I mean those 10-tyre tippers. If a tipper they are using for you doesn’t start from 12-tyres upward, don’t use it. More so, DON’T PAY ANY CARRIER OR DRIVER OR SAND SELLERS TO BUY YOU STONE DUST. Either you go there yourselves or you send very reliable person to buy from quarry and arrange your truck/tipper from outside because those drivers at the quarry site may not want to carry you since they know you already caught them. Other sharp sand sellers too do it. What most of them sell as 10 tons are not up to 10 tons. I have always told my boy to go out with his tape measure. |
PrimeQuay:You meant 1” x 12”? Lots of Nigerian are crooks. |
whatisthetruth:Forget about MIT. Did he read more than architecture? Has he invented anything in architecture, with his MIT certificate that you are talking as if our lives depend on it? Show me where he has featured in any international architectural magazines for his outstanding work. We are talking of governance here. Will only Gbadebo rule Lagos in isolation? What they are saying is that: he doesn’t have political experience to lead Lagos. SanwoOlu too is not a perfect option, either. |
allthingsgood:Absolutely correct, but a lot of people don’t know this. DMO with CBN deducts some dollar interest on foreign loans taken by states before FG would pay the balance to states, which is part of what is affecting our forex. DMO and CBN too are culpable. State governments b.tibe them to get their loan requests approved. Most of the loans states take are for stea.ling purposes. One governor comes and causes problem for the next one but since governors know that their people are MUNTULAS, they make their people believe every loans or forex problem is from FG. State governors contribute a lot to level of poverty and corruption in our country than we can imagine. |
Can MTN leave Nigeria fez? I wan check something. |
Sebi the visa is more than 5 years - multiple entry? Why the rush? The man should have waited for the wife to give birth in Nigeria and then travel later for the visit, except if they are trying to get in to give birth to a Canadian citizen. |
Reeefe:You are right. I even witnessed a block molder of 8” being used as 9”. Please let’s always check what we are buying lots of block industries indulge in this type of sharp practices. |
Depriest2020:My thought, exactly. For God’s sake. Find used in building the airport would have constructed more than 100,000 low-cost houses with roads for them. Kai☹️😤. And come to think of it, over half of the money claimed to have been spent in constructing the airport were embezzled and they will steal over 8billion from the 13billlion they say they are spending on repairs of the tarmac. |
Dem plenty. No be only LASU. |
They are parts of those big and corr.upt international companies, conniving with our greedy and corru.pt bankers to mess up our Naira. I pray they keep making forex loss. |
Audio railway. |
Make it a yardstick for getting every key things done. Should be deployed at Primary Healthcare level in all local governments. It shouldn’t be something we need to be going to state secretariats to do. To report death cases, that one fit get k-leg. May be government would need to pay at least N5k 😁😁 for people to report one death. O feel that would serve as incentive to report deaths in agbo ilé other than those that happen in hospitals or via accidents. How to tackle double counting? Me I not know that one o. |
Tinubu shouldn’t shock them. He should electrocute them, instead. He should close down all domiciliary accounts on 6 months’ time. We will that Naira will appreciate back to N300 to 1 USD. |
Some of those inviting could have bought certificates from there as well. Same thing is applicable on all our schools - from nursery to tertiary. Quarter-baked graduates full everywhere. A lot is going on in our country. Most things are upside down. Tooooo cor.rupt sets of being |
Purplelemon:It could mean that your document has not reached Austria for processing as of the time you tried to find out. Austrian embassy in Abuja doesn’t send your document through courier. It scans your document via a secure means and send it to the appropriate authority in charge of your Austrian state or District where your file would be treated. It may mean that this file sending is being done in batches. And don’t forget, there are lesser staff there at Abuja, especially to cope with current influx of Nigerians switching to Austria because of what the UK is implementing starting from January 2024. It’s good you are patient a bit more and stop worrying or mailing MA35 so as not to arouse their suspicions - my thought, though. |
beejay1:If you know a good joinery person, you can use gedu. It lasts longer. Mable stones can break quickly. Even though paper is from wood, HDF is compressed (recycled) paper, it is not water-resistant, except if you quote it with resin/epoxy. |
