Their whole reputation is false, all non sentimental people can see that they don't make anything there. Every single car they say they produce are products of Chinese engineering franchised to them and other car assembly companies.

This statement is full of sentiments and ignorance. What you need are ventilators. Dyson producing for UK does not make ventilators. They are making on demand. If government needs ventilators produced locally, they should simply pay and see If he fails to deliver . Anyways that's the Nigerian way. The law of demand and supply favour innoson and this is time for him to gain world wide recognition. Imagine a US state ordering for 500 ventilators from innoson! Do you know the amount of free publicity - quality PR he will get? Let us imagine the impossible that he produces the ventilators and Nigeria does not buy from him (of course that is impossible). Many foreign countries and private donors will buy from him

Ventilators are not face masks or hand sanitizers. The companies producing for US and UK waited for government to request before they produced. Why didn't they jump in and start producing?

You need to first develop a prototype that can be approved by the NCDC before the government can place orders

There are many hospitals in Nigeria and outside the country that will buy these ventilators without relying on Government.

The government of those countries have made arrangement with companies in their own country to produce for them. Why wont Nigeria make arrangements with a company locally? They prefer to beg online.

All of this things you talking about we are still far from, I'm working with current realities of what is on ground but you seem to have your head in the sky looking at china.....ps do you know how long it took them to get to where they are and the government they are under? Can you handle communism in full force like the chinese? Are you prepaid to act the crimes they did to get to where they are today?

How long did it take our government to build isolation centres and equip them? We did not provide these things for over 40 years, but we are doing them in weeks. It's all about priority.

God forbid that the numbers will increase, but if it does, in the next 3 months, Nigeris might need thousands of ventilators. But sentiments wont let us look beyond ethnicity and do what is right.

Rice is a commodity that is consumed at high volume daily....a crop.......which can be grown easily.....there's no car company in Nigeria that doesn't import one part of the car or the other from abroad, sure they can give it to a Nigerian company to execute but how long will they have to wait to receive their order? China orders raw materials from Australia and other parts of the world to produce what they export to you. Why dont wr just import rice, after all foreign rice is still cheaper than ours?

They shut themselves out of the whole world and started producing all the things they export today for their own consumption. They waited for however long it took to produce enough for their own use. You talk about assembly as if people have to use screw drivers and nuts to tight the cars . The assembly is mostly automated. Besides the more hands on deck the faster production is. This means more employment opportunity for Nigerians. Just admit you are not grounded in this area and economics as a whole.

Ps if you are on about the jobs that will be created by assembling of those cars realise those jobs are temporary, and would render those thousands unemployed after the order is done, if you dont believe me look into Gm, Ford and Chevy and see why they lay thousands off yearly without benefits.....and do you know the technicalities involved in designing a ventilator? Why do you think they are so expensive and take long to make? One misstep and all you have done is waste everybody's time, which is why I'm supporting mechanical design for ventilator builds....they are less expensive and easier to build and operate.....but whatever job the order provides will also be temporary as it is a niche market.

Compare temporary job creation to no jobs at all.

China buys oil from us and converts to fuel and use for other stuff. Why dont they just other fuel from from us, since the assemble our oil?

If 10% of the things we use in Nigeria are assembled here, unemployment would have reduced by 90%.

Let me educate you on one advantage of assembling . A container might take only 5 cars, but if the parts are shipped 20 or more cars can be assembled from one container. Saving time and cost of shipping.

I guess our hospitals also assemble drugs etc here, no wonder buhari will cut the middle men to go and get healthcare direct from UK. This thing called common sense is not common.

There is a global demand for ventilators at the moment, he doesn’t even need to sell to Nigeria. Countries all over the world would rush him if he can deliver.

But truth be told, Innoson cannot produce any ventilators anytime soon even if FG gives him N4b. It will take him nothing less than 3-6 months to come up with anything close to a ventilator. Trump had to activate the defense production act to force GM to start producing ventilators. Even at that, GM has made it clear it can only deliver about 4,000 ventilators by April ending even though Trump is requesting 40,000. That’s to tell you how complicated the process of producing ventilators is.

I saw a BBC clip this morning where a reporter was lamenting that a consortium of Mercedes and Mclaren could only produce 30 ventilators. Innoson is nowhere near all these companies in terms of anything. Again, Innoson imports 95% of his parts from China. All he does in Nigeria is assemble.

You are in no position to determine what he can and cannot do . The same innoson with very little capacity is the one GTB a whole corporate entity went into his account to steal funds from.

Even if he assembles parts from china, is the end product not a car?

The main point here is that government has to reach out to know what he needs to support in the production. Does he need to fly in more chinese partners? Does he need waivers to bring in parts?

Nigeria is so unstable, ventilators cost much and it's not something you jump into producing for government. They could end up taking it on credit and wont pay after the pandemic.

There is alot that goes into such and he knows why he is making himself available if the government needs assistance.

The UK government placed order for 10,000 ventilators from Dyson. They started to work on it after Boris Johnson called the owner of the company to request. Their major product is not ventilators, but they had to on request of the government. That's how things are done.

You dont sit in the comfort of your room producing nothing and determine what someone who started from scratch to build a multibillion naira business can and cannot do.

You are right. I still have chinese as partners in till date. They only care about the money. However Nigeria and Africa is an opportunity for them to make more money by lending and investing in infrastructure. We have alot of problems which are also opportunities. But because our leaders prefer the finished product than the processing , they will take advantage of it. So they will provide the fund and infrastructure and take over the market at the same time generate revenue from infrastructure.

Lockdown: FG allows markets in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja to open between 10 am and 2 pm daily.

Three days after the Federal Government announced a lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja, the government has said that markets in the three states would be allowed to open between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm everyday.

He further warned shop owners that the total number of customers inside their stores must not exceed a third of the stores’ total capacity.

Sani also urged them to ensure that all shelves, aisles and stores are cleaned and disinfected before they close for the day.
