Your desktop, palmtop or whatever medium using is made vulnerable. I am sure Morgan will deny it. Even my browser completely blank me out of their site

I wonder who replied that email. I guess the person is meant to say that their server remains secured and not the browser interface...

But the issue here is that someone sitting between the end user and the server can see credentials in clear text. No encryption. Peradventure an issue happens, Morgan will surely blame it on the owner of the credential forgetting they failed woefully.

Naija we hail thee.

Nothing to worry about. The guy I spoke with on phone said the site is very secured and cannot be hacked.
They said they were aware of the issue and working towards resolving it soonest.
Many, if not all that logged into the site today did so through the unsecured site.
Were you expecting them to say otherwise? Leave it shaa. Hackers have very important deals to do other than come after Nigerian Brokerage company. How much will they make off that?

If they say there's no problem, why spend money buying ssl certificates for their website?

No cause for alarm though. I was only trying to explain to Madam what could happen. But if you see your online banking website turn from https to http, flee and do not enter your credentials......

Although, I'm thinking of changing my password. Pls advice
The implication is that your credentials can easily get compromised. In as much as an intruder can't steal your shares or money if he/she gains access to your account, but the intruder can do other harm.

A silly intruder like me will spend all Pastor Vee account balance on Diamond Bank shares. Use all his balance and buy the stock for him!

Whoever told KOD few years back that Diamond Bank will be in this kind of state, he would have stoned the person.

Me, NSE and long term? E no fit happen. Oil and water no dey mix together.

So the maga that offloaded billions of Diamond Bank shares late last year was running for his/her life. NSE and insider trading. I hope this is not the same scenario playing with the investor that dumped FCMB. Am thinking out loud though, I have no insider information and not in either of the stock at the moment.

Time will tell!

I don't see why your retirement savings account balance now should be lower than four years ago. Is it denominated in naira? Unless your company stopped remitting monthly four years ago. That's the only plausible explanation. Nevertheless, the interest on the accounts have reduced significantly compared to what was obtainable previously. But that doesn't mean the balance should reduce unless you withdraw from the account.
He added a caveat - "If we convert the money to dollars"..... He's trying to explain what a fluctuating currency can do to savings.

To be honest with you, devaluation will likely happen if Brent continues its southward movement. The good news is that, it will not happen before election as that will be used against APC. I hope I go don jaaaa from NSE before it happens. Otherwise, I will look at the risk rewards ratio of NSE capital appreciation against % loss in capital due to devaluation.
Personally, I don't expect up to 50% devaluation but I expect 50% capital appreciation in stocks. This is the reason I might remain in NSE till the next bull on or before end of March /April 2019.
On the contrary, stocks generally will go up should devaluation happen. That's when the foreign got guys will rush back to Naija. Only companies that have foreign currency dominated loans will hear gbanghan at their YE.

The problem lies on what happens before the devaluation!

Not currently in the country , dat add a big challenge to opening dollar acct.
As big as you are, your account officer should be worshipping you. You don't necessarily have to be around to do some certain things, that's one of the benefits of being a big man like you. Get your money to work for you!

I know of a bank that once opened a current account for one politician, customised the account, printed cheque books, etc and then went to pay the man a visit. Informs the man that they noticed that he doesn't have an account with them and that all he needs to do is to sign the "signature sample form" and return to them, and the account becomes active.

Your being outside the country can't be a hindrance.

Also note that devaluation is not certain but the signs are heavily there and the odds that it will happen is on the increase.

Reserve depletion is slowing. Inference could be that 1. outflow is slowing/reducing
2. inflow is increasing gradually, just an observation.

few members here av been worried about devaluation . I pray it doesn't happen...i really pray.
Bros, if there's anything you need to do before devaluation, now is the time to do it. Devaluation is inevitably now. I had to go and clear most of my foreign currency denominated credits just weeks back. Maybe am always too afraid of things yet to happen but this has saved me a lot of time.

Imagine our reserves going down while our major source of forex (oil sales) was on the increase. Imagine what will happen when oil price drops drastically.

As a guide, I don't know how we can estimate what these FPI's still have left in the country, that might be a guide as to how much they will pull from our reserves.

All in all, everyone should have an approach to either side of the divide. What to do when the worst happens as well as what to go should the tide change for good.

The only force holding Emefiele from devaluing our currency is elections. After elections expect anything and I believe this devaluation (and possibly total floating of the currency) and further directions of the government will usher in the great bulls.

I have also been wrong severally but presently this is the only scenario that my mind has come to accept.

Some gave up their ghost as a result of High Blood Pressure, they borrowed millions of naira from banks, using their property as collateral, together with their own millions of naira life savings, and money from their businesses.

After the meltdown, they find it difficult to pay 1/3 of their borrowing, without thinking of their own millions. Many died, and many started life afresh. Those living are still better than the dead ones, because they still have hope.

Once there is life, there is hope. NSE is not where one will develop for better for worse culture in any stock, be it Zenith, GTB, seplat, Nestlé, e.t.c non of the Nigeria stocks worth for better for worse stands.

I remembered, some of the good stocks that performed wonderful well then, stocks like, Intercontinental bank, Oceanic Bank, Transcorp, but today, most of the elephants has falling apart.
Oando, FO, etc of the recent.

From my years of experience in NSEM, politics contributed a lot in Nigeria stocks market, especially when there is change of government, as we will soon witness, foreign investors knows well about it, that's why they usually bail out before election.
E don do Ooooh. You are reciting my life, 10 - 12 years ago, in brief. The only difference is that I survived and came out stronger.

BTW, I didn't hear of many that died as a result of NSE though. HBP, YES, death and suicide, I doubt.

Many of us here including me paid millions of naira as a expensive school fees during the 2008 global economic meltdown, some paid with their life, may their soul rest in peace. Many sold their commercial houses and other properties to buy stocks during that period, what worsened the situation was the use of analog stockbrokers.

One has to fill hard copy sell mandate form to sell his/her share, only to return the next day without the mandate been executed, most of the stockbrokers will not even submit the mandate form, they mostly concentrated on their own, to sell theirs first because no body was interested in buying.

I remembered the way I used to visit Standard Union Security Limited stockbroker at Sani Abacha way Kano, when I was in Kano, then every morning as soon as they open for the day business, I will drove to their office to received a positive news of execution of my mandate, but the reverse will be the case, I thank God for the development of modern day real time online trading platform.

After 2008 economic meltdown a lot of stock participants started seeing stock as one dealing with snake. I remembered the motor of one my stockbroker, by name CSL stokebroker; "Never invest what you can't afford to lose" my question still remain, who invested to lose or want to lose?

My good sister in the lord (SITL) Yayira, 2018 NSE school fee was little to compared with that of 2008, also with the real time online trade platform, one don't need to wait for stockbrokers to submit your order, the moment you feel that something is going wrong, the needful will be the next line of action.

For now, to invest and monitor the market is sine qua non in the NSEM, listening to members advice, especially those that devoted their time to study the market and its environment is another sine qua non in NSEM, it is inconsequential to run away due to high school fees, but to use the knowledge gain to make a good success.

In a nutshell, I love your courage.
Abeg no remind me of 2008! That injury will never heal. Forget it.

CP my brother, NSE is entirely all about hope unless you are an insider. Investors rushed Fidelity not because they are 100% sure of their result but because they hope that the result will remain same by YE. Reggae fit change anytime.

If one is not about to enter the market before the bulls are on ground, you just find a moving wagon and join. And money will be made.
