No. You are wrong. The problem started WAY before that. In fact it started during their first term when Obasanjo caught wind of a plot to get him impeached headed by Atiku and some members of the National Assembly.

Atiku had believed his marabouts who told him that he will be president before OBJ completes his tenure and immediately started sharing hard currency to his loyalists in the National Assembly and on the Supreme Court to get OBJ impeached. Well, the plan failed and that was the beginning of their friction.

The second betrayal happened during the reelection campaign in 2003 when Atiku once again tried to scuttle OBJ’s re-election bid by bribing all the major stakeholders as usual. Did you ever hear the rumor that OBJ went to Atiku’s private residence in Abuja to kneel down and beg him not to wreck his re-election campaign? It was true and this is when it happened. It was after this Obasanjo made the vow that Atiku will never be president as long as he is alive. And that is a vow he has taken very seriously since then.

So you a wrong. Apparently you are the one who did not do his research. A lot happened between the two before the 3rd term saga. And even that 3rd Saga once again displayed Atiku’s impatience and lack of tact. All he had to do was not involve himself in it at all. The plan was destined to fail anyway, then if he and OBJ were still on good terms, they would have reverted to the original plan of Atiku taking over.
