I asked a miller relation why the price increase and he said that most millers are concentrating on palm kernels for now. The price will still drop but this should not stop anyone from stocking.

Guy Na lie. Most of Nigeria company source their palm oil from other country (Malaysia, Cameroon etc) last year and years before.

This year Our able and dynamic presido in the person of Buhari don block ways. Is cheaper for company to source palm oil here in Nigeria than other countries. Hence the high demand, palm oil and palm kernel nut inclusive).
Last year by this time palm oil was #3,500 while palm kernel was #70 per kg.

Palm oil prices is a function of demand.
As you are planning to start storage next month so thus others, even millers.
Me self wan store am (who no like money)!
Therefore by April and May if demand increases, price will increase as well.

d ways it's going it so much unpredictable, d best advise now is timming! just follow d thread religiously for those interested in storage. I will be updating d price daily by God's grace. once it slips down again, u just hurry and buy cos d trend is so unpredictable. d demand is high especially up north cos Cameroon Oil isn't coming in again like before. Dis will favour local productions and demand/supply will force d price down.
most companies I supply up north are proposing to increase my quota, dat points to scarcity and higher demand. A manager in Kano informed me dat it's Berra to source from us when I asked y increasing my quota than pay high custom duties for imported Cameroon Oil due to our new tax policy which forces bout 15% on imported Palm Oil.
this shud be good news for us if we can use d opportunity well, so we boost our local productions and economy.

am looking forward to favourable govt policies dat will assist us. presently maximum acceptable moisture content from most companies is less than 5% for first grade.

Timing is the key here. Last week price was #6,000 to #6,500.

In Akwa Ibom State you are saying nothing but the true current price #8,000 to #8,500.
Since Monday that was the current price. Watch out as palm oils in Akwa Ibom State will be higher in price even more that some state (that are producing palm oil).
In the next two weeks, the price will reduce a bit again. Company buyers are jumping in and out of mills hence the high price.

To storage guy's: Buy now to store. Once rain start falling nobody will cook or boil palm oil again. When rain start falling the moisture content in palm fruit will increase like wise moisture in oil. If one cook the oil it will foam and empty the oil into fire. Thus fire will enter the pot of oil
