Phemmie72: I received an updated information from WES today that stated thus: Evaluation Status: Documents received - review in progress
We have received your documents and will contact you when your documents have been reviewed.

What does this imply please?
It means they are beginning the evaluation process.
If they think it is necessary to confirm your docs, they'll initiate a verification process for it.

yomifowe: Hello everyone, i am filling the background declaration form, is the form for only the principal applicant or also for my wife?
Also, in filling the the generic application form, i saw Dependant Type, which one do i choose for my children?
1. Background declaration form is to be filled by you and your wife.

2. If you chose your hubby as Spouse, the option of dependant type will be greyed out. ( damkolllins, 2014))

Lenta: @meritl I am currently experiencing same problem. They said I should pay 2000 for verification and 8200 for sending it back to wes. I pay the money 2 weeks ago but they are still telling me stories. Now they are saying wes left out a vital document that is suppose to accompany the transcript. Wes on the other hand said they have sent what they needed to send and they promise to resend it again by email and regular mail (same way they sent the first one). it been more than 4 weeks now and I still don't know where I stand with them. Questions for you though:

1. Can Uniben reply by email and will the email verification be accepted by wes?
2. How long did it take for wes to respond after Uniben sent them the verification?
1. Yes, UNIBEN can respond back via email. I used the email reply option and they acknowledged. It for within 2 days.
2. After WES received the verification via email,, they updated my online record to show that the verification by my University has been received. They said it will take them over 4weeks+ to send the evaluation to me. Surprisingly about 4 days later , I checked my online record and it read" Evaluation Completed". They then provided me with the tracking details via UPS.

In addition, if I remember correctly, I actually paid 1k for verification (well since they saying 2k, that shouldn't be a problem) and sent via email after UNIBEN verified it. The #8,200 should be a fee to post via DHL.
But as I said earlier, no need wasting money sending your verification via speed post as the email option will work faster (UNIBEN usually has the address to send verification for WES issues).
Hope this helped.

Waited for GTbank to debit me for the draft service since Tuesday and it seems they were not working on it.
Withdrew my cash from my Dom account today.
Will be posting my app to my uncle in Canada on Saturday and by God's grace, he'll insert the draft he's going to help me get over there.
Most importantly, I advice everyone to cross check very well to avoid mistakes. Just discovered one in the General Application form " how many years of education in total". I wrote 5 ( just for my university) instead of 16 ( 5- primary + 6-secondary + 5-University).
Thanks to wiseone Solo, Damkollins, Ferdimako, Technolee, and sundry.

Sometimes, most times, WES normally does the background check. I will advice that you try to contact your school or a student in the school to confirm if it has arrived or not.
For example in my case, when my transcript was sent back to UNIBEN for verification, my source kept telling me that it has not arrived! It has not arrive!.
I kept on bugging WES with mails and they kept on replying that they've sent it via regular mail and email. I again contacted my source and he said " it has still not arrived".
After4 weeks of the endless bugging of WES, I just went to the VC's office where they receive external correspondence. Behold, I saw my verification waiting for me for the past 3 weeks as they sent it via email ( not regular mail).

Please just do all you can.

No. They do not accept asset as POF. It needs to be unencumbered cash.

Hi all.
While I'm still waiting for my draft from GTBank, I just adviced my friend that she can put the value of her assets (land and house) on the "economic class form" but she may not bother sending documents to show landed properties or estate valuer documents at this stage.
Hope I am right?

I saw some people's apps were returned because their references did not meet CIC set responsibilities.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Meritl: 9:51pm On Sep 23, 2014
Gone through the FSWP SPREADSHEET and it seems providing sufficient references is the main cause of rejection.

bees74: Hello all
Im at the final stage of gathering my application and i need help regarding the ffg

I av some explanation on my application hence i am including a cover letter but im not sure who to address it to.does anyone know this.
Secondly i need to find out if anyone has raised a gtb draft in abuja and which area or does this mean i have to do it in lagos.

Is there a spexific size of envelope to put passport photographs or any small envelop will do.
Thank u house
1. What's FFG?
2. Just visit a GT bank branch in Abuja to initiate the draft process and they should be able to liase with any other branch that can do it, if they cannot do it.

I'm doing mine from Benin and will pick it up here in Benin.

seunlovesa: Eeyah. Its worth it. Was trying to raise the draft today too. Was told to come back tomorrow for further details. THe guy @ their Customer service is a novince. Promised to make a phone call to verify the process
Honestly, its worth it.
Paid in US$1050.
The current exchange rate for $CAD to $US was around 0.9052. I used a rate of .93 which made the needed balance to be $US1023 plus charge of $US10.5 and another conversion fee of around #280 naira or so.
Hence the $US 1050 was sufficient.

About 4 hrs later I was called that I had insufficient money in the account. I had to go back and explain that it was $1100CAD not US$1100.
They said statements that don't make meaning to a child in kindergarten. They were finally still able to do it and got a confirmation from Lag that they'll raise a draft of $1100CAD. Should get it in 72 workinv hours that will be a pessimistic Thursday, hopeful Friday or a sure Monday.

princessayinke: hello; i am back again. seems i need help on how to write the reference letters and how to address them. if i have had more than one job, do i need reference letters from all my employers, NYSC inclusive?. i want to start filling the forms.
1. You can check the CIC website to see the responsibilities and the ensure that yours align with it.Do not copy the job duties word for word. I heard a dummy copied it and was banged . In addition, you can address it to "Whom it may Concern"

2. You have to provide reference letters from places you've worked in the past 10 years that align with your NOC.

Garykasparov: Please is anyone an alumni of Madonna University here, if so, Please which evaluation body did you use in assessing your transcript.
Hi.
I guess you should send an email to ICAS and CES to know if they evaluate a degree obtained from Madonna University.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Meritl: 10:02pm On Sep 21, 2014
kunlerulz: Safer to have it for a period of time. Because the CIC says the money must be yours and not borrowed and expected to be unencumbered for the application period.

However, if you are racing against time, you can save in your account and take a certification letter that just shows the balance in your account and not the statement
You can actually put the money at once in your account and ask for a statement immediately (for example someone bought your car and paid a lump sum)
As I have been adviced here, CIC will not ask for explanation on your transactions now. It's mainly when Ghana calls for it that you need to explain huge lodgements.

I got 22! .....u know using B.Sc will leave me one point off 67 and no madam to contribute. So if 2171 remains unfilled early 2015, I might do the paper version, if not express entry has me.

ferdimako: employment reference letter. I may apply this last paper version or EE.
OK. You received your ref letter today.
I was wandering because you've always said you were waiting for EE.
I heard from a friend who's there and he said Canada doesn't do background reference check (at least 90% cases).
Mainly UK that does that.

Anyway, we should try to provide convincing references.

They make some visits too...just present defendable scripts, Buddy.
Ferdimako please what do you mean by "I just got mine today"? Was your boss contacted via mail , e-mail or telephone? Abeg tell us make we arrange ourselves.

solomonwis: No point including a self attested work reference when you are sure you already meet the minimum score point of 67.The self attested work reference is basically for people who for one genuine reason or the other are not able to provide work place reference which will impact on their application with CIC.
Muchas Gracais!!!!!!!!
Thanks.
Been busy with things for 2 these days. It delayed my submission for tomorrow Saturday. We dey shoot concerning wifey things sha. CIC nor disturb us.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Meritl: 9:22pm On Sep 19, 2014
solomonwis: Let us be objective and realistic like the guys in CIC.....

For some reasons (one of which was stated above),there might be circumstances where an applicant is not able to secure a work reference...The reasons are so numerous and genuine that any sane mind will understand with a letter stating the reason(s).

Having said the above,it was stated on the checklist that should situation arise where any document is not available a letter should be included to explain the reason(s). To give this "letter" a little legal backing,it is always better to state the reason under oath (affidavit) and produce as much information as available that will cover for the work reference...such as the employment letter, confirmation of appointment letter, promotion letter, annual leave letter,payslip/pay stub and any correspondence affirming your work experience at the time...sometimes,it is better to approach an ex-colleague (a senior colleague at the time) to include his contact details and confirming that he/she was your line head or supervisor and you carried out the main duties as stated at the time.... The onus is on the applicant to prove beyond doubt that indeed he/she worked in a company....

Again, all of your employers (if you worked in different places) are not expected to be reluctant in issuing you work reference else you will succeed in raising suspicion which will cast aspersion on your application and it might be rejected if care if not taken.

Some of the employers might have a policy of issuing a work reference letter in the company's standard format which may not include all the details as expected by CIC. In this case, include all of the aforementioned documents with particular attention to the document that show the details of your main duties..

Even with people who provided work reference from their employers, some of them had their applications returned because it did not include the main duties that align with their eligible occupation...

There is no cause for alarm if all I's are dotted and all T's crossed with self attested work reference....Bottom line is,include all the information that is expected in the work reference and confirming that you indeed worked with an employer....
Thanks for that reply Oga Solo. Based on the generation of suspicion that you said in your post above, I'm a bit worried that I will not be submitting a letter of reference for a place I worked previously. Although I am safe with my points (same as Benedictegbon) even when I don't include the reference letter for that period of work.

Please just say something. grin
