So sad....that main gate is usually very "BLACK" at night there's no way to even know that you are approaching the main gate so sad a big university like uniben can't put lights at its entrance or sin board...the speed breakers put there don't even help much at night and to make matters worse is the buses that stop before d entrance for crying out loud they should stop after it...
I've never even noticed before that the place is dark at night void of streetlight...and we have lights flooding lonely streets were students hardly use...smh..what a misplacement of priority

The same Main Gate where a girl died last year while crossing the road? I thought they said they were going to construct an overhead bridge there?
I think they focused more on blaming student's lacastidical behaviour while using the road and failed to take proper measures inorder to evade future reoccurrence.
EducationFemale Student Involved In An Accident At UNIBEN Main Gate Yesterday by Mescopaul(op): 8:49am On Mar 22, 2016
Yesterday's evening (21-3-2016) at about 9:45pm a female student was involved in a motor accident. She was about crossing the main gate into the school environment.
According to eye witness, she was with her friend, who crossed first, while she was about crossing unluckily for her close to the center pavement a car ran into her with full speed.

On hitting the ground the driver of the vehicle drove away leaving her body there full with blood.

She was immediately rushed to UBTH, though in a very bad condition, currently no body knows if she should survive it...

Something seems to be really wrong with UNIBEN's main gate and motorists, as such fatal case that led to the death of a 2Level female student occurred just recently.

Meanwhile the info is still under further investigation.

We will bring you more updates soon.

Nairaland GeneralEl-Rufai To Abolish Christianity in Kaduna! by Mescopaul(op):
This muslim fanatics seem to think this country belongs to them.

Christianity has little or no recognition at all in the 1999 Constitution, and folks are here trying to turn our lope-sided Constitution into a jumbo Sharia Law totally.

Little wonder, His Excellency Nasir El-Rufai, wants to abolish the Gospel preaching and annihilate Churches from Kaduna!

Smart ass devil!

He knows how to have a walk-around bunch of Christians with misplaced priorities and ignorant of their heirachical strata in the corridors of power!

They sit back and call the devil a fool ...

If you think someone who has been existing for billions of years before is a fool, then you need both mental, psychical, spiritual and physical checkup.

Hello guys!
Ur brother needs help and advice. I did tooth extraction like a month ago. After 2 wks d dentist adviced I shld stop salt-water solution. And d pain reliever. And after a month I went bk to complain dt d pain is seldom and dt it is still swollen. So he said dt I shld keep calm, dt it is a result of d difficulty dey had while removing d tooth(drilling d bone).
Unfortunately that night I mistakenly bite on a piece of bone while chewing. And since den d swelling and pain has rapidly increased.

I have started to use diclofenac and cac-1000. But as I type ds am in serious pain I can't sleep.

I need ur help on our to reduce d pain n d swollen part ?
This is rather late, but I believe you will have time to read this:

I had toothache not quite long.
Infact I even opened a thread here on Nairaland ( https://www.nairaland.com/2822232/ever-experienced-chronic-toothache-what ), and though I recieved some funny replies, some others were still helpful.

At long last I decided to extract the teeth because the pain was terrible.

I went to UBTH (University Of Benin Teaching Hospital) in place of a 'dentist' somewhere.

I was placed on few drugs and salt water bath (which I didnt even follow up strictly)

As at now, am totally free.

So I guess, your dentist was not quite a professional that was why you had re-ocurring pains.

I advise you visit a hospital, and ask for real medical attention.

All the best!
I will never even wish toothache for my enemy!
God help us!

Nairaland GeneralAgrieved Jamb Student Writes To Dibu Ojerinde, Jamb Registrar. by Mescopaul(op): 7:59am On Mar 17, 2016
[b]
May God Terminate my life, if I, ALILI TOCHUKWU CHIDUBEM (Tojesus Blessed ), Will one day, at any place, by any means, consciously or unconsciously, by my action or inaction, hesitate to SPEAK the fact that your presence in JAMB's Office, has brought nothing but total regret, misfortune , misdirection , and/ or raised many eye brows.

In fact, truth be told Sir, Your tenure so far has remained more or less, Abysmal failure to JAMBITES (2016/17 Jambites specifically), Nigeria parents / guardians , Nigerians In particular and the world at large.

Mr Dibu, Look at the way you have just frustrated 2/3 of 2016 Admission seekers. You have made dunce and Ignoramuses out of many poor but Intelligent Nigerian 2016 admission seekers/ JAMBites, all in the name of your so called " marking scheme or whatever".

Should I talk about how you began this year examination ?? Of course, you will agree with me that your direct or indirect decision to award 40 extra marks to few candidates after the examinations of 27th Feb, 29th Feb, 1st March and/ or 2nd March, in the first place, speaks volume of your purposeless, compromising , barbaric and Non-enhancing-academic-excellence led administration.

This has never happened since the inception of JAMB. You have succeeded in exhibiting &selling your administrative incompetence before Nigerians, Africa & the globe in general. You and your cohorts cannot justify the reasons why many JAMBites are crying every moment, as they check their results.

God will judge you Mr Registrar! You and your caucus have made many Nigerian children to weep. Their parents/ guardians went through hardship to realise the exorbitant money for JAMB registration. Yet, You have allowed political, economic or whatever affiliation, becloud your sense of reasoning, consideration & academic excellence.

Sir, I must confess, You have disgraced Nigerians & posterity will hold you accountable for the demoralization, pain, misfortune, etc you have / is causing Nigerian admission seekers at the moment.

How can someone read all day & nights, follow up your so called new syllabus, pray, fast, sacrificed pleasures , etc, just for you to give such person 130, 170, 140 and many other incredible scores as result ! I am disappointed ! We are Disappointed in you.

Finally, Tell Nigerians & the world why Someone will be getting 20, 30, 40, marks in a subject he or she read thoroughly. You & your colleagues have have killed many Jambites joy this year, But God hasn't.

GOD IS WATCHING YOU SIR.

TravelAnglican Priest, 12 Others Crushed To Death Along Asaba Road by Mescopaul(op): 9:24am On Mar 12, 2016
At least, 13 persons, including an Anglican priest were Thursday crushed to death in a fatal multiple road accident that occurred near Atakpo River in Ibusa along Asaba-Ogwashi-Uku road, Delta State.

The late priest was identified as Rev’d Stanley Ejiniwe of the Asaba Diocese of the Anglican Communion.

It was gathered that four survivors of the crash which occurred at about 6pm, were rushed to St. Joseph Catholic Hospital and St. Rebecca hospital both in Asaba, for medical attention.

Also, those who lost their lives in the deadly crashes included 11 males and two females and were left at the Ibusa General Hospital.
An eyewitness said that driver of the commercial bus, his wife and others died on the spot.

Pointing out that the Ford bus, which was descending the hill from Ibusa end collided with the fully loaded commercial Mitsubishi bus that was ascending the hill, the source further said a ‎Honda car rammed into the vehicles.

He gave the Ford bus registration number as GWK 684 XA; Mitsubishi L300 bus as BJ 831 AKD and the Honda car as BEN 413 CF.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, sector commander in the the State, Mr. Rindom Kumven, who confirmed the accident blamed it on over speeding and poor visibility.

Christianity EtcHow The Apostles Died by Mescopaul(op): 4:52pm On Jan 08, 2016
In this article, we'll be looking at how the fathers of faith in the time of the early church died.

Amidst these deaths, severe cruelty and unnecessary crudeness is unveiled.

This is to show how these loyal clergies held on to Christ and their belief without shifting grounds in their convictions.

This also leaves us with a clear distinction between the early church's faith and our modern day church's faith.

By comparing and contrasting, we can understand that if these heroes of Christ were able to stand all these trials, what excuse do we have?

With all of our inventions, science, technologies and innovations that make living easy, why do we still find it difficult to see die-hard Christians who are ready to die for their faith?

Matthew

Suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, Killed by a sword wound.

Mark

Died in Alexandria, Egypt , after being dragged by Horses through the streets until he was dead.

Luke

Was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous Preaching to the lost.

John

Faced martyrdom when he was boiled in huge Basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution In Rome.

However, he was miraculously delivered From death.

John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison Island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos .

The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve As Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey.

He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully

Peter

He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross. According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die In the same way that Jesus Christ had died.

James

The leader of the church in Jerusalem , was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.

When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club.

* This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation *

James the Son of Zebedee,

was a fisherman by trade when Jesus Called him to a lifetime of ministry.

As a strong leader of the church, James was beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial.

Later, the officer Walked beside James to the place of execution.

Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and Knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian.

Bartholomew

Also known as Nathaniel Was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed for our Lord in present day Turkey.

Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia where he was flayed to death by a whip.

Andrew

Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony.

His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words:

'I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.'

He continued to preach to his tormentors For two days until he expired.

Thomas

Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the Sub-continent.

Jude

Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.

Matthias

The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded.

Paul

Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67.

Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire.

These letters, which taught many of the foundational Doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament.

Perhaps this is a reminder to us that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles and disciples during their times For the sake of the Faith.

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

kay29000:
Are you trying to tell me that Heaven will be boring?
I think heaven would be, rather is the most beautiful, perfect, and most fun place to be.

The problem is that, we are humans so our thinking is limited.
Heaven is not a place for the fallen human, so heaven has another thinking method or pattern.

What gives joy on earth would probably not be what gives greater joy in heaven.

What entices and people think we can't do without might not necessarily exists in heaven.

Heaven is totally different from earth.
Those in heaven do not possess this natural flesh and so things that appeal to the flesh here on earth may unlikely exist in heaven.

Going through the book of Revelation, you might have read were it said that all they do there in heaven day and night is to worship God.

From your natural human mind, you might ask :
"How can one live all his life in heaven, daya after day, doing nothing but bowing down and worshipping God? Wouldn't we get tired of worshipping God in heaven?"

But the truth is, you can't fathom it out.
Its beyond and above your thinking faculty.
Its a realm were things exist in a different dimension.

That is why we must all strive to enter heaven. So that after tasting life on earth, we could taste another better life in heaven.

And, no Heaven can never be boring.
Nothing can make it boring, not even the absence of the word and act of "DANCE" altogether.

Beloved try every spirit ..
Beloved believe not every spirit ...

They rise up early saying thus says the Lord, but i've not sent them ..

The Bible is replet with instances of caution against false prophets ..

Be swift to hear
Slow to speak

That is God's pattern.

Apostle Paul was a man that enjoyed rich revelations and prophecies from God, but he hardly ever spoke about them.

He only made instant to one of them when he said:
"I know of a man, who was caught up to the third heaven and saw unspeakable things ..."

This should be our stand as prophets with "tons" of prophecies and revelations: UNSPEAKABLE THINGS

What differenciates us from Politicians is the way and manner we hear from the supreme and how we dish out what we hear or what we "thought we heard"

If u think any minister can be so spiritual as not to have the devil and most times HIS MIND speak to him and he assumes its a revelation or prophecy, then you still a baby Christian.

God tells you something.
About someone, group or family.
What stops you from going directly to that person or group or family and deliver the message?
No, we want to be like the politicians,
so we blast it out during sermons,
because we know the media will pick it, it will come to newspaper agents, and it will make HEADLINES, and what next?
We will be "popular"

Popular as a carrier of what?
How many pastors have come out to tell any government personnel or that God says Except he or she repents, judgement awaits him/her??

Beloved, let's minor on the minor and major on the major, and not the other way round.

Why dont we then we invite the likes of Micheal Jackson, Chris brown and Usher to lead us in songs in the church?

Are they not all good in break dance??

Break dance | Heaven
Do they match?
Is there any semblance?
Do their combination sound right.

Please see a dentist asap

Tips for getting relief from toothache
Having toothache during the day is no big deal as you can easily stop by at the dentists office to get relief. However if you develop toothache during the night/weekends when the office is closed, you will need the following tips to give you relief:

Warm water and salt rinse: get a small cup of warm water(not hot because hot water will trigger pain) add a leveled tea spoon of salt and stir. Then rinse your mouth with it making sure the warm solution gets to the painful tooth. You could tilt your head sideways to achieve that. The warm water gives soothing relief while the salt is antibacterial. For fast relief, you will need to rinse frequently.
Do not chew with the side of the mouth that is painful as chewing could trigger pain
Avoid hot or cold drinks as they may initiate pain.
Avoid sweet drinks or food.
You could take pain relieving drugs sold over the counter. Pills that work for pain in other parts of the body will work for toothache too. The drug should be swallowed and NOT placed on the tooth/gum because it could burn the gum/cheek causing more damage.
Oil of clove: studies have shown that this essential oil has antibacterial and analgesic(pain relieving) properties. To use, Put 2 to 3 drops in a bowl and add little olive oil. Then Place a few drops of the mixture on cotton wool and apply on the painful tooth.
Please note that the tips mentioned above are to give you temporary relief, visit your dentist as soon as possible to have him/her check out the cause of the pain and give you a permanent solution.

Time right now is 2:31am. I've been awake since 1am. I couldn't sleep, not with this killer pain called toothache.

I've been suffering from this dreadful pain for some time now. It disturbs my studies, talking, sleeping and almost everything around me, and more so, my christmas might not just be a jolly one cry

I've taken Ibruprofen and Amoxyl, both seems to be indifferent towards the pain, and I'm currently at loss as to what to do.

Should I see a doctor?
Should I lookout for a particular drug?
What medication should I take?

Please friends if you've ever been in my shoes before and now you've been cured, can you please educate me on what I need to do inorder to ease this pain?
Traditional or scientific method.
Anything as long as this pain goes away!

Pls help me out, I can't bear this pain on Xmas day.
May God keep us and never allow us to see pain (esp toothache - I don't think there's anything as painful as the throbbing of an aching tooth) in Jesus Name. Amen.
