MEMORIES (Let Go & Let God) Ignatius M.D - Mescopaul Life is all about memories. The events, the happy moments, the sad moments and the teary moments soon become memories as time silently ticks away. In the cause of perusing into my pasts, I smile as I remember some hilarious, painful and sad memories. I'm not as one of those persons that attended the same school from primary to secondary. In fact I won't be exaggerating if I say I've attended so many schools, that I've lost count: Government, private, army, good, bad, all of them..lol. A notable secondary school I attended is at the far east of Anambra State. I still remember how fights and bullies were the order of the day. The inception of a new set of school prefects was often greeted with strong resentment from their immediate juniors and this evoked 'staged wars'. I was enjoying my sleep one afternoon when the bang on the desks woke me up. "Haa - !" They were at it again. A terrible fight was already in full swing. Being the gentle, quiet type (to which I really did suffer so many ridicules) I managed to leave the class and made for a safe haven as lockers and chairs flew high in the air, smashing their recipients with such a great fury that made me shudder. I remember these things today, and I smile. Most of those fighting boys today are now big boys, some are even out of the country, living big and doing fine. How quickly time flies. There was this particular boy in my class that was always fund of bullying me back then, he harassed me as often as willed. Being a very quiet fellow, I always avoided his paths. He seem to know this, so he constantly watched out for me, what I did to him still remains a mystery to me. He would pull me by the collar as he yelled into my face, while I recoiled in fear. Everyone in class knew that I never fought, so they termed me a weakling, I was called all sorts of names in Igbo. Whether that was true I never knew, but I knew I never just had the power to fight, I had power for every other thing but fight. So I mistakenly stepped on the toes of one of the girls in my class and before I knew it a resounding slap landed on one of my eyes. I practically saw stars, my vision was blurred for some minutes, next my eyes shone red. Being the little, frightened teenage boy who I was, I just starred tearingly at her. Her towering figure reminded me that if I should dare anything, my own was finished. I managed to get to my seat as sympathizers poured all around. I remember these things with a faint smile. I hold no grudges against these people that terrorised my life in school days, but the part they played in my life I'll never forget. Look into your past. What memories do you see? How good a memory have you been to people? When people remember you, do they feel pain? For those that have had a catalogue of hurtful memories from their past I bring you this word from my heart: LET GO AND LET GOD Thanks for reading. Mescopaul I don't know if this is in the right section.. mods you can move this to the appropriate section. Thanks |

https://i.imgur.com/ulNnSkj.jpg Safety Tips During ExamFirst things first. This is NOT a hard and fast rule to passing exams. This is not a protocol for ensuring good grades. As the title implies, its just few safety tips. Safety narrowed down from meeting early with your papers, curbing stress and/or oversleeping, avoiding stomach upset or ill health to avoiding being broke, curbing distractions and having an alert brain in the exam hall. We'll do justice to some of these in the next few lines. Come with me. Tip 1.Never be too far away (probably at home or hostel) from the venue of your exam when its 1.30mins to the starting time. Simply put if your paper is scheduled for 9am, make sure you around the venue latest 7.30am, inorder to avoid any anomally or change in weather condition like rainfall which can trap you indoors while exams are on. Tip 2.Do not go to sleep 6hours prior to the time of your exam. The stress encountered while preparing for the paper might put you off for the next 8hours which is the normal sleeping duration. Tip 3.I hear people say stop reading perhaps two or three hours to exam, and I'm wondering were that idea came from. Your brain is likely to remain active and visions gazed upon often having the ability to crystalize and calling it up will be without difficulty. I'm sure you already figure out what Tip 3 is, but incase you're a slow and articulate thinker like me, let me run through it right now: Refresh your memory often with your books just before you enter the hall, but please ensure you are relieved of stress or anxiety while doing this. Tip 4.Learn to read at the early hours of the morning as this is the most time when your retaining capacity is expanded and your mind is totally free from worries and care. Before these 'thieves' come to steal away your mood, be sure you have done justice to your school work. Tip 5.If you don't feel tired while studying DON'T force yourself to STOP studying. You might want to meet up with a very urgent task, but unfortunately that might just be the time your brain wants to settle down to assimilate, why not postpone that meeting if you can and give that brain of yours a shaggy ride. Tip 6.NEVER force yourself to study when you're feeling dizzy, weak or mentally blurred. Just close your books. Take a shower and hop into bed. At most an hour or two you are up, and dare that brain of yours and see how fresh it is. Tip 7.NEVER depend on anyone for stationaries while in the exam hall. Make sure your items are complete and in good shape. Two of everything is the best bet. Two pen, two pencil, two eraser and so on. Tip 8.Never skip meals. No not all. You don't need much persuasion I presume. Tip 9.Avoid tension, body stimulating exercises before an exam. Don't hit the gym before writing an exam. Your body get heated up and all your neurons and muscles are tensed up, at this point, it will take some more time to calm your system down and think out the questions in front of you. As much as possible, avoid a quarrel, a fight, jogging, running, football or skipping. A good cold swim might do a lot of magic, and enhance reasoning capabilities. Tip 10.Believe in yourself. Build your self confidence. Make use of mnemonics were you can. Make use of a reading pattern. Don't study haphazardly. Tip 11.Believe in GOD that He is the giver of success. Don't forget to pray too. There are much more useful tips out there. Pretty much, this is how far I can go. Thanks for reading. http://mescopaul..in/2017/07/safety-tips-during-exam.html |
Best post for today. I just discovered that: Introverts are Extroverts on Social media, while Extroverts are Introverts on Social. Introverts find solace online. Like me, if I chat with you online you'll never know am an introvert, if we dare meet one on one, you might be disappointed cos I might just be staring blankly at u for d next 10minutes barely saying anything. Another thing is, Introverts are generally good people. They dont hurt others. They always do what is required and do it well. They are amiable and friendly people if u can get close enough. Another part is: They are stingy in nature. They easily get depressed. They are good procastinators. They hate taking risks. They hate leadership, but are very competent if given. Summary, just be who you are. Dont try to impress anyone but yourself. But, try to improve your lifestyle. Try more new social behaviours once in a while. Try to always give a smile. And try, to overcome your WEAKNESSES. Ah, when last did I type such long stuff on Nairaland!! Uniben and exam...!! |

rottennaija:I will define what religion is incase you missed that: "Religionis any cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, world views, texts, sanctified places, ethics, or organizations, that relate humanity to the supernaturalor transcendental." (SOURCE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion) Compare your bolded to my bolded. Culture is defined as a way of life of a people. If you say christianity should be a way of life, you're simply saying, Christianity should be a culture, and religion defined above says its a "Cultural System". Are we getting somewhere? Unfortunately, religious organisation have turned Christianity into religion, members becoming their followers instead of being Jesus's followers. They see members as belonging to them, they own them and rule or govern over them. Creating religious hierarchy in the process, having big names. All you said, is what I just said up there: The problem is from US not on from "RELIGION". I said Fellow believers, our problem is not in the DEFINITION of the word "Religion", but in our failure to produce the typical Christianity that existed in the time of Christ. Now, I believe that's is the mentality that has to be fought. Members need to start knowing that christ is their head, not religious organisation and that in the judgment day, it will be between them and christ. They cannot latter say, my pastor said so or my religious organisation said these.Fine, so vent your anger on church leaders and not on RELIGION. |
CHRISTIANS: QUIT FIGHTING RELIGION, FIGHT YOURSELF. Zealous CHRISTIANS often say that: "Christianity is NOT a religion" If it's not a religion, then what is it? A sect? A race? Or a movement? Fellow believers, our problem is not in the DEFINITION of the word "Religion", but in our failure to produce the typical Christianity that existed in the time of Christ. So stop fighting "religion" and fight YOURSELF. Fight your convinctions. Fight your lukewarmness. Fight your coldness. Fight your gross ignorance. Fight your foolishness and idiosyncracies. As far as I'm concerned, CHRISTIANITY is a full blown religion, and the best one at that. #GoodMorning #Mescopaul |

6 Things You Should Stop Doing1. Don't ask a visitor, "Will you take something?", what do you expect him to say? "Yes?", common you wouldn't say so if it were you. Rather ask, "What can I offer you?". Don't let him keep guessing. You can add, "I have soft drink, fruit juice ..." 2. Don't speak an unfamiliar language with someone while you are with a group of persons. If there's something you wouldn't want everyone to hear, you can excuse yourselves and talk privately. 3. Don't use your phone while you are in a meeting and someone is speaking. They'll appreciate your undivided attention, and it gives them a mind that you are not courtesous when you operate your mobile while they are talking. If you must do so, excuse yourself and attend to your phone outside. Else, give them your undivided attention. 4. Don't pretend you don't care when you do. Don't die in silence. If you're not comfortable with someone's disposition or attitude, calmly and quietly let him/her know about it. The things you horde within are more hurtful than things expressed. 5. Don't say, "I mean it", when you really don't, "I was only joking", when you weren't. People won't know when you're actually serious, if all the time you give them a bias portray of yourself. 5. Don't disrespect people's opinions, way of life and dogmas, you can criticise them if need be, but don't make them feel they're not worth living a principled life. 6. Stop thinking people that express themselves in rich and nice vocabs are showing off. English is not ours, if we must speak the white man's language, we must stop murdering and 'fathering' it.
