Congratulations! If you're staying for that long, it's better you get a one-way ticket. There is really no point in booking a return, unless you're sure you'd be returning at some time for vacation, for example. Also, if you're arriving in Nurnberg, I'd advise you to check Turkish Airlines for a cheaper ticket, especially with the student discount. If you're arriving in Frankfurt or Munich, I'd recommend Ethiopian for a cheaper ticket. Qatar seems cheap too. justt: I plan to return in June 2025. Most return tickets are within 12 months. Do you think with the insurance I will be able to extend it till then? |

Vannie12: Hi, I am also a PhD applicant .Have you started your application for summer? Hey, your starting point is getting a supervisor (in your preferred institution/programme), and this requires a rigorous searching. You'll need a good proposal to do that - what I did was to first secure an MA admission (to ascertain I go port any which way en go be), and in-between, I was writing different professors for supervision, many rejections but I got one acceptance, she requested a proposal and viola, she's ready to supervise and help with other processes...the rest is story. With a supervisor and a supervision agreement/confirmation, the rest of the track is easy. Then you'd have to start applying for scholarships/grants/funding too. Good luck! |

badmus306: They don't allow one way, when booking , you are required to book return too. The Customer care lady said that's an issue most of the students travelling this winter are facing as they don't allow them to move at d airport. Haa, tooh! Thats a big issue. But how manage, some folks in previous session(s) of this thread, I think, mentioned flying with them. |

vivianobas: Has anyone used or considered using Egypt Air?
I see everyone concentrating on just Turkish Air or is there a reason for this? I'm actually considering this, but there's only been few good reviews on their service and all; hence, folks are not (very) confident about them like others. So far, I think they offer the cheapest rate... |

Kevwe06: Good evening house, please the Mawista insurance I need some clarification, I have a very long name when I was filling the form, it couldn’t contain my full names as it is in my International passport, so I wrote just one of the names, please is that ok? Also, method of payment I clicked IBAN and I put my details, again am I on the right track?lastly I intend travelling in November, can I put December 1st as the start month of the insurance or November 1st. My visa interview is in Oct (btw) please gurus in the house kindly help a sister. Big thanks You should write Mawista to sort the name ish out, shouldn't be a problem though. Ordinarily, your insurance should start the month you're entering DE/starting your programme (but say you're travelling late in the month like 27th above, you can use the second month on the condition that you have a travel insurance). Your insurance company won't be able to make deduction from your account because it's Blocked, which means you have to provide them an alternative account or what @oluwadamilolah suggested. Good luck! |

Eldeee: I just checked it out now but seem to be getting a slightly higher figure from what you just wrote here. How did you go about it? How did you get the figure, are you sure you are using the exact exchange rates? Kindly cross check again for clarity purpose. How slightly higher? I used the conversion rate of #360-$1, but with #365-$1exchange rate, it's about #4-5500 diff.

Eldeee: Yes I checked it out on their website, like I earlier mentioned, I did the calculations based on fees for student discount which I just showed you how to calculate. You will get the students discount when you book at their office. Well done, Eldee. Based on your calculation, is the discount different from what Student Universe is offering for the same flight (same day, if you've checked)? |

BBiggie: I did my Interview on August 8 and blocked the 8k+ euros but I haven’t received a mail to this effect. Also applied to Bayreuth I'm not sure if its from the alien office in Bayreuth or my VO, but most likely the former. Hence, I'd advice you to top up if you have the fund. |

Good afternoon and well done, everyone!
I had my interview on the 31st of July, sent my Blocking Confirmation of 8,604 on August 2, yet I got a mail yesterday requesting I send my blocking confirmation of the new 10,236 for my Visa to be processed (kindly find attached). I've resent the Blocking Confirmation though, and have had the new amount transferred as well but Fintiba is not giving me a new Blocking Confirmation to that effect, all I got is a new account statement reflecting the new amount.
Is there any other person experiencing this? What should I do?
This is the email I got:
Dear Sir/Madam,
In the above mentioned visa application, you are kindly asked to submit the following documents:
- proof of a funded blocked account with a monthly disposability of 853 € OR official German declaration of sponsorhip (“Verpflichtungserklärung”) for the purpose of studies given before the competent German authority
Please do so as soon as possible. Otherwise your application cannot be processed by the Aliens Authority in Bayreuth.
You may send the document in advance by E-Mail.
Sincerely yours,
b.o. |

Good evening and well done, everyone!
Please, I'm supposed to send an application to DE this week and part of the requirements is a signed copy of the application form whereas there is no indicated space to do so on the form.
Hence, my question is should I just find a reasonable space to append my signature (including date and place) or I should just send the the application as it is?
Thanks for your responses. |

MissNK: So I had my interview yesterday 31 July.
I asked what to put as the subject of the mail when sending the evidence after funding, she said my name and reference number.
Hi, please my confirmation just came in from Fintiba, but is the reference no the one on the appointment mail or the number written above one's name on the Visa receipt? Thanks. |
